Man a classic to me! I watched these movies with my dad who was an aikido, shinwataido, and judo student. Awesome looking at young Seagal. I would love to be able to learn just one thing from him.
Steven Segal can "movie fight", but he can do the "real stuff", too. That, plus he "TEACHES" Eastern fighters! He speaks Chinese fluently, plus I know no better action actor! THANK YOU FOR POSTING !!!
Whats underappreciated here too is how SKILLFUL his swordsmanship is. Right footing, distance, and handwork. Classical stuff. At the end, that right to the solar plexus would have dropped anyone. Whatever he is now, back then, he had some legitimacy. But, it took me a while in real combat sports to realize ppl dont roll the way you want them to in joint locks, or make it so easy to drop them in xD
In the style of Aikido, you can MAKE them move the way you want them to. Look up Takashi Ushida---THE man of that style, with a dojo in Ann Arbor, Michigan. At least he did have it, some years back--if he's passed away, his son likely runs it now. I had both the pleasure and privilege of seeing him in action, twice--once about the time this movie came out, coincidentally, and then in 1997, at Hill Auditorium, on U-of-M's campus, during a 25th anniversary celebration of his dojo's existence. Takashi was a BAD MAN, if you get my drift, and if Seagal and he were to lock eyes, Steven would be on his knees, hands in his lap, head bowed, INSTANTLY...
P.S. The first time I saw him, Ushida ALSO displayed HIS prowess with a long blade. One of his first comments? For some reason, his words have never left my head; "to practice Aikido, you must have a strong mind." BELIEVE me--describing my experience seeing the man perform does no justice, none whatsoever, to what I witnessed that day. I will never forget it, as long as I live. Do you know who Franco Columbo was? (RIP). Takashi Ushida was like a "Japanese" version of him. His ankles, his wrists--thick, and he also had a fairly large chest--just a very strong looking man, with a mind that was just as strong...
@@Bob-ub4gl the proving ground is MMA. Most martial arts practiced conventionally do not get used there. Aside from grappling traps and locks, none of this stuff is really applicable at a broad scale aside from the sword work for self defense.
@@jeffa4822 Thats about as ridiculous a position as I have ever heard. By that metric Jeet Kune DO, Krav Maga, BJJ and more are just "sports". Martial arts evolves all the time and branches in different ways. MMA is a legitimate martial art in itself possessing a equal mix of stand up striking at long, medium, close and clinch ranges, and grappling in equal measures. Many arts in past days including Pancrase have done just this. Not a lot of martial arts in the world have had such a generalized focus. Aikido is very specific in its focuses as with many eastern martial arts, and that is its failing. Bruce Lee said it himself. Train a kid in boxing and wrestling for 10 months and he'll beat almost any decades long grandmaster in one shot. I predict Segal at his very best of he tried the UFC in its heyday of full unrestricted combat would have been eaten alive. Today too.

Look again. He hit him in the solar plexus
The sound of that guitar after he punched that guy in the stomach is hilarious
@@johnc6738 Actually he placed the strike EXACTLY where it should be just below the Ziphoid process, which is the cartilage just below and attached to the sternum. A blow of this nature can have you taking the room temp challenge. This hit forces the diaphragm up compressing the heart against the lungs and it can also slam your heart against your spine if the punch is thrown hard enough. Not a trifling punch at all.
@@gurzair998 LMAO. Getting anatomy class in my profession. Your cute
In the UK this movie was called Nico. Above The Law was a different martial arts movie with Cynthia Rothrock and Yuen Biao
The running was amazing
I don’t care what anybody says back in their mid 80s to the mid 2000s Steven Seagal was a true badass and he could still kick everybody’s ass even in bad shape
THAT RUNNING AWAY SCREAM THO!😂😂😂😂
Seagal went from skinny to obese. There was never an 'in between'
He also went from balding in his 40's to having a thick rug of jet-black hair in his 60's.
chaoticdays lmao
youtert you can tell in this that his hair isn’t that thick from how it looks slicked back.
quit hatin on his hardcore toup
Clever.
That punch at the end dear god lmfao
Man a classic to me! I watched these movies with my dad who was an aikido, shinwataido, and judo student. Awesome looking at young Seagal. I would love to be able to learn just one thing from him.
Grady Johnson, I would suggest what you might learn from him is DON'T GET FAT!🤣😆🤣😆
shit, sounds like your dadwas into all the fake nonsense. he get into krav maga too?
Go to an aikido studio, lad. Don't sit around whining about Seagal.
Good afternoon.
This is the best film that I have seen from Steven Seagal,on my own opinion; thanks for share.
Greetings to all of you!
Steven Segal can "movie fight", but he can do the "real stuff", too. That, plus he "TEACHES" Eastern fighters! He speaks Chinese fluently, plus I know no better action actor! THANK YOU FOR POSTING !!!
"That's my buddy, man. Yea man. I know him ..." Great acting! also funny how nobody works in this city. Hanging out on the street or in bars all day.
Come to east Harlem, NYC. Most of the blacks and Latinos don't work.
@@niroshanperera6323 🤣
It was a Saturday afternoon. Lol

"No Mr. Seagal, your running looks just fine."
I still laugh every time I see him run
Me too but hilarious 😂
You wont ever see Seagal run like that unless the buffet is open!
seagal and van damme have inspired so many people to change their lives for the better through martial arts, stop hating on him, stop bullying him.
02:53. Best walk ever.
What was he training them about? How to run like a girl xd
01:26. Best run ever.
I liked when the guy screamed before being chased. That was funny as heck. Hahahaha.
@@shkotayd9749 what is MMA? it just sport in a ring, thats not martial art
Today too.
i love steven seagal! fun films always
