One person found an old sword and a typical iron sword in the ocean and claimed they were related to Oak Island and the treasure supposedly yet to be found there. BUT the man who claimed their authenticity refused to have them tested. No one buy a car of it looked shabby and old if the owner it never needed work and had 250, 000 km and never burned a drop of oil. You would not take some strangers word on it. And the present owner loses interest in his treasure dig and then his interest is again boosted because a small coin or piece of carved wood was found. The whole story of Oak Island arose when a late 18th century story stated that no one lived there but some boys living on the mainland were exploring the desolate island covered by oak trees and found evidence a block and tackle once hung on a tree limb which still had rope marks. The truth is that the boys may have stayed on the island and actually made rope from coconut fibre there.The rope weave was run into the sea perhaps and then dried on the beaches. This would explain the coconut fibre which later showed up in the digs. That book seems to have been a tall tale. A story about the island being the hiding place for the Holy Grail or the gold reserve of the knights Templar, or even Captain kidds Treasure being buried in a pit there, are quaint legends based on unscientific myths. The sites of tunnels were created by the underground tidal flow and of all the mechanical digs by adventure enthusiasts.

I think that they are finding evidence of previous human habitation of the island (somebody likely used the swamp as a dump at some point) and I also think that they are obviously salting the island with junk that they later "find". In any case, their methodology is ridiculous and insulting.

I’ve only just discovered this show on tv in Australia. I’m no expert, but I reckon the treasure has already been found by the rich cabbage farmer. If they don’t find the treasure at least they’ll have the worlds most expensive pot hole!

After all these years my wife finally sat down with me and watched her first episode of Oak Island. Towards the end she commented that it was kind of like watching paint dry!

Rocks on an island? Water (wet to the touch), in the ocean? Sand on a beach? Trees growing out of the ground? Could these clues suggest to Rick, Marty and the rest of the team that the shows announcer is clearly on track to break a Guinness record for the most inane, hypothetical questions ever asked in a one hour show? ...and yet, I keep tuning in. sigh. ;)

I seriously hope they find lots of amazing things they are searching for, it can't be easy on the pocket or heart sometimes.
This series is incredibly interesting, there's no doubt about it. The narrator is the same fellow (Robert Clotworthy) that narrates the Ancient Aliens series, and his style of telling the stories for each episode makes those episodes so much more interesting. He should be given credit for his work narrating, because he sure is good at it. I personally hope these two series will run for a lot of years to come. I just love them !

Each and every episode of Oak Island could be easily condensed to a mere 15 minutes.
Why do they insist on dragging everything out? It is all becoming quite tedious. I record the show so that I can speed past all the padding and the adverts.
It's been a project 250 years in the works. I imagine they're trying to be meticulous. Same time, they have to show something for the days/weeks/months of footage. Only way they get to keep going.

People crack me up! Complaining how long it's taking to do this, and dig it out. You'll never had to deal with government intrusion because of artifacts and possible history. They are being forced to do this under stringent archaeological documentation of dig and artifacts, not saying it shouldn't be properly documented. I been watching this show since season one.... but I'm not sure why. They drag out episodes with the same thing, over and over again. Another 30 min of footage from past episodes and that the whole one hour show.
They better find something in the swamp because endless drilling isn't working or just metal detector more since that's they only think working. The question with the show is how much longer can they drag this with little to no valuable finds. You know it's bad when they are excited about a handle. Meanwhile Marty is racking in the cash buying houses in Miami and drinking is cold weather wine. Only in America ;)

I'd call that stone road "Main Street". I'm also amazed that they didn't realize that they stone pile at the highest point on the island is a give away to the proximity of the actual entrance to the Money Pit. From first hand experience I know that they were closer to finding the front door than they realized.
