It's great that he has supportive parents, not many parents see streaming or content creation as a legitimate career, and its unfortunate By what I understand, it's a very hard field to be successful in, cause it's really based on luck, but idk
I can't even imagine. I had an stalker back in the day. I'm a guy and he was also male. I was seeing that person literally every single day, everywhere. At the stores when I was doing basic groceries, and even at my uni during the lectures (Lectures are free in my country so anyone can get in and listen, even if you are not a student). When I seen him next to home, I just called the Police, and then it stopped. I even got few weird emails back in the day when I was streaming and doing yt vids a bit but idk if those things were connected. Anyway, that was very light case of stalking and I can't even imagine how bad it can be for your when you get very "invested" stalker. One is very bad, group of them would be the reason to spend all of your savings on the private security team. Police can't help you until they do anything to you, which is awful >.
@@DrejkolI always hate that, they can't do anything until you're actually harmed. I'm sorry you went through that, I've had my own experience with a stalker too so I know it's very unnerving. It's scary that it gets to the point where you have to take it upon yourself to confront them
@loveu2death441 I'm fine. I was just stupid back in the day. Right now, I could call friends from the police and politics to fix any stalkers. Back in the day, it was scary tho :c
Asuka is the friend you call about a stalker, who takes you to a cafe and starts casually detailing your home security system in front of random goobers. Asuka is just so dumb it gets suspicious. Chilla's Art has the best jank walk animations and the best awkward everyday NPCs.
"It's time you got a real job and made some money." Given the size and location of this Japanese apartment compared to other Chilla's Art protagonists I'd say this gal was already doing pretty well as it is. Also getting 900 viewers with only 5000 subs is an amazing ratio.
@@yaobikuni1349 ; mmm i'd say the biggest tell is actually the self-filling timed tub. i was literally just looking at apartments in tokyo/shinjuku. the one bedrooms i've been able to find are at a fraction of the cost of what we pay in L.A. for something much older and ghetto and they've all had the same bathroom setup as niina's bathroom down to the same glass accordion door for the tub/shower. they just don't look as shiny as hers but the seperated bathroom is the same.
I replayed The Closing Shift recently so I believe this game takes place after. Since the two girls Mayumi and Mari were a part of the high school girls you had to serve, now their in college I suppose. Especially since they made fun of Mayumi's weight in that game too girl can't catch a break Edit: Another detail is that the drunk guy in the cafe is saying how much he misses "Hassaku" I looked up a play through of The Closing Shift and that was the name of the investigator who dies and the police never found his body. Kinda sad that his buddy doesn't know what happened to him.
i had a feeling those were the same girls. poor mayumi 😭 who just casually tells their friends that they're fat?? also, i'm positive the guy in the back of the cafe was the squatter (milk guy), and james is the foreigner from the closing shift.
Not after, but during. Seems to be Parasocial and Closing Shift took place in parallel with each other. The female protagonist from the Closing Shift is shown in this game, when Nina and Asuka went to Chilla's Coffee. She was the lady with ponytail working at the back while her colleague manned the counter.
@@z54964380 No, the investigators name was Hassaku. The same name the drunk guy is muttering about (side note anyone find it weird this dude can order beer at a cafe?). So again I think this game takes place after since Hassaku dies in the The Closing Shift and this drunk guy in Parasocial must have been his friend/student James could be the first guy we serve in The Closing Shift the one that says there's something strange about the place
The convenience store section of the game is a perfect example of anxiety. Mina is trying to find a reason to stay in the store longer in hopes that the stalker goes away. It builds a sort of stand off like tension, who gives up first and leaves the area.
Having a stalker as you walk back home after dark really solidified the sentence: You aren't afraid of being alone in the dark, you are afraid of NOT being alone in the dark.
I don’t know if someone mentioned this but the blue covers from the next door means someone moving in, it’s suppose to protect the walls and floor from moving furniture. So maybe the stalker moved in next to you
personally i read chilla's work as not so much games first but more interactive narratives that utilize the hallmarks of video games to make the ideas more digestible. theyre always these intentionally off-kilter yet also apparently highly faithful depictions of every day life in japanese cities that all revolve around paranoia, social anxiety, and distrust, often masked or bandaged by a very thin veneer of social kayfabe. those are ideas that resonate with a lot of people online, and more and more people offline as well, this sort of concept of social mores and expectations distantly policing a conversation, causing people to revert back to a normalcy that results from a lack of explicitly defined tension, instead of being able to actually deal with the source of the anxiety. i mean thats kind of how tension is built in horror, but there's also a reason why its such an omnipresent thing for chilla's work.
@@commandantcarpenter They deal with topics that are relatable to the average Joe, which to me works better than games that tries to scare you with some eldritch beings that you know for certain don't exist irl.
Meh, while their themes do tend to be dark, their approach is just way too corny/schlocky so the tone just ends up all over the place. Point in case here is Asuka calling MC a noob right after her whole stalker ordeal, or Asuka being a typical horror character throughout the story, or the janky af walking animations that are still being used. Still this is one of their better games, it had some tense moments and the plot was intriguing enough. I just don't think their games are "deep" or their "commentary" is anything deeper than your average Dora the Explorer episode.
Asuka just called Nina (after her traumatic stalking) a _filthy casual gamer_ lmao. Great game, lots of context clues that built a solid ending twist -- you can solve it and *finally* Chilla opted not to have a black-screen monologue that over-explains everything. Showing it as news and confirming your suspicions is better I think.
Definitely. The true ending explained why the manager wants to know so much private info and why the "officer" won't do the report in the station. That left me mighty puzzled
@magical-soap5359 So true. The manager implying "a stalker incident" unprompted at 32:16 and the rant about Nina's ex at 39:34 was wild bc the manager was a stranger to Nina. And the officer saying "call *me* directly bc it takes too long to call the police" right after not letting us go inside the station was alarming. The true ending explained it all but the bad ending was also good at portraying they all working together to _rescue the princess_
@@DoodleMonsterRocks The way everyone is saying "it's dangerous for a young woman like you" really made us think all them COULD target her... I was paranoid 😨
@@DoodleMonsterRocks I like to imagine the face of Nina: "I'm literally next to the station, why don't you let me go in?" "Nah bro it's too crowded there"
@@magical-soap5359 Honesty, I just thought the officer won't report it because the stalker "didn't do anything harmful". Sadly, it happens all the time when someone report in for stalking and the only response they get is " ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ he didn't do anything bad so just deal with it, he'll get bored"
In case you wonder what Rikiya meant "Pick flowers" but then went to the toilet at 1:10:33 ... it an old Japanese euphemism for "Going to toilet", but usually only girls say that since "Going to toilet" sounds "unladylike"
@morganthomas2912 since you mentioned "English"... I got this "Picking Flower" phrase from an old Gothic Anime called "Kuroshitsuji" (The Black Butler) set in a fantasy Victorian England, one of the side character said he was gonna "Go pick flower", he act a bit feminine.
oh man that ending. Imagine at the end of a horror moive the last surviving character going "my escape would not have been possible without raid shadow legends!" lmao
I feel like it's a great way to Adress stuff like that. Like, what better way to Adress a game community issue than to make a game about it,especially when you know that it's gonna track attention if you make it horror oriented
@@ryomahoshi4529Hey, when it comes to stalkers and creeps, all you can really do is inform people on how to avoid them. After all, they’re the kinda people that won’t stop no matter what you say.
as uncomfortable and disturbing as it was, the karaoke was probably my favorite game from them so far. the different endings and the way they hint at them is super cool and i hope they do more like that!
I love how the building managers first two automatic responses were, "no your apartment isnt haunted, and also if you have a stalker let us know". not, anything sensible like, is something wrong with your heating, plumbing, electricity, security system?
i think one reason why her antivirus doesn't pick up anything is because it probably installed remote access software. remote access software is completely legal and "not" considered dangerous, and is often used for i.t. purposes. the issue is that scammers often also use it in order to gain access to a victim's computer (i.e. those call center scams). my guess is that when she dl'ed the game, there was remote access software hidden inside 😅
Most likely so. Also, when she keyed in the 4-digit code to clear the game, she was probably allowing the program to take control of her camera and avatar, allowing her identity to be exposed.
Also the guy was capable of coding his own games for her, so he's likely capable of coding his own malware, which an antivirus is not gonna pick up on if he only made it for her because it's gonna be brand new malware in that case and antivirus programs won't have it in their definitions yet..
There's a degree of hilarity that it REALLY ended up being all of them being in on it. Like, as Manly pointed out, Chilla likes to often go with the most obvious solution being the reality. Like when the dude stole the trashbag at the start, I knew right away that was a red haring because Chilla always likes to shove one or two random creeps in just to put you on edge. But still, this is the first time where it really ended up being a literal conspiracy against you. The notion is so out there. that from the offset you're like "Haha what if they're all in on it, but no way that would be ridiculous." And then, it really was just that ridiculous. I'm finding I enjoy Chilla's "not supernatural" offerings more and more. They're good at making spooky unnerving ghost games, but they're REALLY good at making stories just realistic enough to feel like they could be based on an actual happening, and that makes them so much worse/better.
It’s kinda brilliant though, right? Like they need to prove they can and will make them all in on it so you can’t be so sure who’s red herrings in the future
You know, I DID wonder why the police officer was doing "community service" by taking the trash out. Of all people, the police officer? I'm glad I wasn't wrong in that assumption
I know in the US "community service" kind of has the implication that you're being punished but that's not necessarily the case. For example: you can actually volunteer for community service if you're just invested in your local community. Some employers even encourage and reward their employees to preform community service in their down time. The point of community service is to serve your community after all. The point behind assigning it as a punishment for some infraction is as a form of restorative justice to either clean up a mess that you yourself made, as a form of -slavery- paying the community back by preforming free labor, or as a way of forcing a person (who may be inclined towards crime) to connect with their local community and thus be less inclined to harm that community in the future. I know a lot of people think of punishment when they hear "community service" so I think a lot of people just call it "volunteer work" when its not compulsory to avoid the misplaced stigma associated with the term "community service". For non-native English speakers and/or non-Americans, I'm not surprised the distinction got lost in translation. anyway, have a 🍪 for reading that.
I love how the paranoia starts immediately. Every interaction that would've been innocent before became suspicious. Trusted public figures could be the bad guy in disguise. Every service worker or tenant you encounter *might* be doing something normal...but you can also think of a way it's creepy.
I think that's because of different cultures, Japanese and Westerners, for example I've seen a lot of comments here calling the fake police out by saying no police do community service when in Japan it's actually a thing.
36:18 ILoveNina revealed he was the stalker all along. The little details that can be easily missed. I enjoy Chilla's Art games with the unique world design.
Yep, knew they were the stalker when they were the only one with an English username. If this game teaches us one thing, you can’t trust Westerners/Westerner-loving fanboys to not stalk Vtubers.
I really really love how this game makes you suspicious of every single character. I used to have a stalker, and recently I’ve been dealing with severe harassment at work. The way you become suspicious of even your closest friend in this is just too realistic, because you truly do start over analyzing everybody and looking for “proof” that they’re in on it or have some malicious intent towards you. You become scared that everyone is out to get you, or at least that some people are and you don’t even know who. I haven’t finished the video yet, only an hour in, but I was admiring how real the effects of the stalking felt when Manly pointed out how paranoid the game makes you over everybody. Edit: after watching it fully, I’m a bit disappointed that almost everyone actually was in on it, however I do like that it gives feelings of validity to the situation. Instead of being “over dramatic” and “paranoid”, the fears were proven to be true… though it would be nice if women (and men) didn’t have to be attacked to be taken seriously.
99.99 times out of 100 if you have a stalker it's going to be a lone weirdo I would think. I guess I can see how it would make you paranoid though, it's just self-preservation. I'm very glad to be broad shouldered and tall (and male obv) - I can walk past a group of guys on the street and night and stare right back at them as I pass, forcing them to move out of my way instead of the other way round. And I can go for a midnight walk with no worries. Must be very hard and scary to be a woman on her own in such cases. I think I'd probably just not go out anywhere after dark unless it was a public and well populated place and even then I'd be on guard. Would probably carry some sort of defensive equipment and an emergency contact device/alarm to be sure.
19:31 FUN FACT: "James" is the same American/Foreign guy living in Japan in The Closing Shift. The "Nihongo Jozu" guy. In the Japanese translation, his name is written as Jemuzu, I never really understood why his name was not shown in the English version.
In the game the person named "ILoveNiina" said "Did you enjoy your bath yesterday?" and it immediately set off red flags. I'm surprised that Manly didn't even spot it. Also that "What makes me a good Demopan?" was hilarious lol
Im pretty sure he did notice but was playing along being a streamer, cause lets be real if you respond to those comments on a stream, your gonna affect the mood and give that person what they want. So he just purposefully ignored it. Or maybe he did just miss it who knows.
I don’t get why iloveNiina wasn’t getting blasted by everyone else in chat. If anybody posted creepy comments about a Hololive girl taking a bath or eating conbini food, her fans would tear the guy a new asshole. VTuber fans are usually very protective. I did love this story though. Definitely the best one Chilla’s done so far. The twist was good, creepy, and after the explanation, even realistic.
Is being a streamer that appealing? To me it's like one of those short-term profession that won't last till your retirement once you passed your prime days.
@theotv5522 Well, logically speaking, people want to stream and make videos because it allows a schedule that people can change on their own will. It is much more appealing than other jobs, but yes, it has a high potential to fail. It's just another side job you could do, but if you become big enough, it can become a main job. Videos continuously make videos if they are good enough and can provide some form of passive income too.
I've been fortunate on this end with my subscriber base being overall pretty good about it, I've only had to block two people in my entire channel history. Certain Vtubers have had it a lot worse.
Yes, creators are much more cautious with how they interact with fans and boundaries since about maybe 8 years ago when the UA-cam Twitch boom started to hit its peak. Knowing from personal experience of being there, the highest level creators don't even walk con floors anymore or interact much and if they do they wear literal masks. In the Vtubing space if a creator's real identity has spread around enough they're sometimes advised to also not go out in any event public event on the floor as small things they do or people they talk to could lead to a security breach of the more hidden remaining creators. I've heard of instances of them even using different phones so if they lose it or it gets stolen their socials that have access to the rest of the creators doesn't compromise them. It's kind of interesting stuff.
As much as I love the paranoia atmosphere, I can’t help but laugh at how dumb the protag was. Like if you click a dodgy link strangers send you it’s natural selection at that point.
Of course it feels like that lol. It’s a relatable experience for a non negligible portion of the population. Millions of people have been stalked, doxxed and harassed online.
You know, I actually really like the themes of this game. I was totally convinced this was going to go down the whole 'the horrors of streaming, anonymity, and evil people on the internet', but the truth is that being a streamer really has nothing to do with what happened to her. It was just the manipulations of a toxic ex, and the way to get the good ending is to stand by her one friend- a pretty great friend, by the way. It could've easily gone into the usual tropes, but instead came out with a pretty neat story.
Thanks for playing this game Manly. One of the better Chilla's Art game I have seen in a while, and one that ends with a happy one. Pretty frightening especially a vtuber getting her identity revealed (albeit by someone else purposely) and getting stalked. The game gives a lot of red herrings who might be the stalker, or maybe two? Since their actions makes them even more suspicious, even Asuka is not exempt from it, due to her lack of awareness on the seriousness of Nina's stalker situation. But turns out there are even more of them. Kind of scary as they were working together. They even got one guy to pose as the stereotypical hooded guy as the "stalker" role that scares Nina so she will trust anyone else who can "help" her.
No joke I was on edge when Manly pointed out the shadow clipping through the walls when the protag was in the bath. I was soo expecting a jumpscare yet it never came, which was amazing.
The way he practically warped in almost had me laughing instead though. What made no sense though is how only on the second incident with the convenience store was she all "he knows where I live!"
Chilla loves those kind of tricks. I think there was one with the Closing Shift with the mom and her baby carriage, or that one loud scare when you're in an elevator while playing as a delivery man delivering stuff to a rundown apartment.
Hearing you say your dad had complete faith in your success and knowing that youre doing objectivly very well for an Internet personality is awesome, like your dad knew, but its validating.
This is the best chillas art game hands down. Not too much repetitive tasks, decent jumpscares, beautiful lil environment, story, and everything. It’s so good😊
All that's left is fixing the janky animation and they're golden. Flashback to their older games, it's hard to be scared or take in the amazing atmosphere when you see a guy moonwalk out of the room, or just de-spawn around a corner.
The girl with the ponytail whipping up the coffees at the shop is definitely the protagonist of the other game. And I'm pretty sure Manager-Senpai is the one ringing you up. It takes place at the same time!
I say this game happened AFTER the other game, because there's a guy weeping about Hasaku, who was the detective that died during that game. Which means by the time this game takes place, that private eye was already dead/missing.
@@theotv5522 Oh, you do have a point! I only assumed this because manager-senpai (forget his name) was missing on your last day of work. I also thought the MC died at the end (because of the man in the closet) but I could be wrong!
@@LeftInLyoko i'd like to think that the girl and the manager were somehow saved and just went back to work to start a new life after all that nightmare with a stalker. I was very sympathetic to this girl and wanted her to be alive!
@@defnotnaruto222 I guess it's up for interpretation depending on the ending you got! It's been a really long time since I played or watched anyone play so it's all kinda distant. I just thought it was safest to assume it was before the ending!
I think parasocial is one of the best games chilla's art has put out. it's a very solid thriller, and had me on the edge of my seat at its story the whole time. trying to put the puzzle together to figure out the truth. and had me tense during the home invasion. really solid buildup, and as you said, lack of jumpscares which I think was definitely to its benefit (like the door opening/closing in the bath scene. it was exactly the right kind of slowness to make that horrifying realisation of what was happening. my only sadness about that is you can't have her notice it)
That ending was SO good!? I liked how it was not a fade to black with the explanation, instead giving us the news segment, while keeping the other ending with the fade to black, y'know? It gives a bit more of flair to the "true" ending while explaining the other ending in a way that made sense for it. One stalker is not as news worthy as the twist on the true ending. Also the twist was so so good? Like I was kinda expecting something like that, but I did not expect just how connected everything was. Chilla's Art is getting better every game they release.
I agree that they could have added even more paranoia to the streaming portion, some noises that the character notices or sometimes doesn't notice but only you as the player do. Finding random objects left behind or your own stuff being subtly moved around and more. There could have been some scares using the closet and the reflection in the desktop monitor. Overall though, the buildup in suspicion of every single person you know was really good, and the multiple endings where you either get entrapped or solve the mystery was good writing.
Stalking, out of all realist horrors scares me the most, especially in an age of social media. This hit my fear spot. Great let's play as always, Manly!
Do people really do that? Dropping their trash on their neighbour's door? I mean I can understand if their bin is full and they put it in their neighbour's bin, but come on, on the doorstep?
I wonder if the guy who stole her trash in the beginning is an actual stalker. He was also very clear in the news footage at the end. Or, he was just a weirdo going through trash to make you more paranoid and then was just used as a character model at the end. 🤷♀️ Good game!
I haven't finished my playthrough yet but when he goes around the building to try follow the person he misses (I think) a crack in an open door, maybe with something he could view behind through the crack?
Chilla's common tactic is using red herrings to conceal their actual antagonists. Manly mentioned it at some point during the video. My guess of the dude who went through her trash is one of those people that wants things like tin cans and paper egg cartons, because that's an actual common thing in my country. They either resell those or melt the cans and make them into boat/car models.
omg this is the first chillas art games that actually scared me a few times already and im not even done with the vid! Love these games and your vids :)
I just wanted to drop a comment to say I have been watching you for years, and when I have a migraine or can’t sleep, I rewatch your play throughs because you have the most smooth, soothing voice that makes me feel all warm and safe and cozy! But also I live in Japan and the moment the stalker banged on the door, my Uber eats arrived and when I tell you I nearly screamed-!!!
Hey, you're doing good Manly. One of the few UA-camrs I can stand and I admit I'm picky. You're always calm and play the way I would. Today's been tough and I'm happy to come home and have something waiting for me. Thank you
Yeah it's great that he doesn't play up the scares like the majority of horror let's play. Those people are insufferable with their forced screaming and yelling.
@@jackskelington7377Either forced or legit fear, but Manly have grown thick skin for loud jumpscares that his bar for a scare is really high. That’s why he never screams. Also in other comments he said he only play games that others have already played and upload to UA-cam so you can say he somewhat know the scares beforehand.
Dang, this Chilla protag is doing pretty well for themself with that condo. Also man, I love the Chilla’s Art games. They’re aesthetic just accentuates the horror and spooks. Also lol at everyone being in on it 😂
This game is just showing the reality of how far these so called "fans" can go just to meet their oshi..or ruin their lives if they don't get what they want. Take Kagura Mea for example when the Doxxers discovered her place, they went from sending her death threats to sending her literal shit.
There was a female streamer in America that had a follower who traveled across America just to torch her car. Also, the streamer/Ytber plays a huge role in cultivating their fanbase. For example, if you're a cynical and deranged like Pyrocynical, then you get fans who will bully you into oblivion; but if you act mature and openly states you want your fanabse to act mature as well (JohnWolfe for example), then your fans will not act like the former, and any attempts to do so will be quickly shut down by the majority. I haven't watched Kagura Mea so I don't know what fans she cultivates but the wiki shows she tends to rage and swears when she's playing, so that can be why her fans acted like that.
The stalker acts weird in the chat the whole game, it’s very interesting. At 36:20 he says “Did you enjoy your bath yesterday?” Not to mention his name ILoveNina. It’s pretty bone chilling to see his chats throughout the game getting creepier.
My new favorite chilla game!!!!! This one was excellent. All the art and time that went into just the packaging in the convenience store is crazy. I love chilla games!!!!!

Yet another great game from Chilla's Art. Great tension throughout, a crazy reveal that escalates it all, and the rare genuinely good ending to one of these. I also love the sheer audacity of ending on a character promoting another game.
It's been a very rough day. This came at the perfect time!, Your videos and energy overall just has always been a nice comfort and distraction. I'm excited for this one!

Man, that’s a really cool father and he’s right, you’ve got a good personality and you’re not drama, you don’t talk ill of really anyone or anything and I highly respect that about you and you make me laugh bc you have a relaxed personality and it’s easy to follow and understand you and you say some of the funniest things like the running gag of “ANIME!” or I’ll think “that’s empty like my soul.” And then imagine you saying it and laughing my butt off, you’ve got a good personality and that’s why I subscribed to you, so I agree with your father, I seriously laughed so hard when you blocked something with the words “anime” I laughed so hard, that was perfection at it’s finest! 😂 I am really impressed with the coffee designs, Chilla, I would buy them, maybe look into making your own coffee? 🤣 I’d buy some, they looked awesome and sounded so good and the presentation of the products was amazing, that I was like “mmmmm, I want some of that coffee!” 😂 I knew iLoveNina was in on it bc he talked about the bath back 36:17 or so, omg but I didn’t think it’d be a whole live chat rooting against you….that’s rather dark, I didn’t foresee that! 😂
Y'know, the protags situation was so easily solvable right from the start. Firstly, just don't download any shady games, secondly with the Police officer conveniently right infront of your house... just explain your situation to them? Like he even offered the protag to stop by his station... like, even at that early stage of events, the fact someone managed to deactivate her model remotely AND sent her a threatening text should have been enough red flags to do something about it instantly.
Spoiler, I’m assuming you haven’t seen the entire playthrough: The police officer outside her house isn’t an actual police officer, he’s an accomplice of the stalker, meant to lull her into false security and also make sure she didn’t talk to the real police.
Yeah i did not finish it at the time of writing that comment. But my point still mostly stands, it kinda starts to really grind my gears how oblivious and dumb horror protagonist tend to be in recent movies and games. I can only tolerate a certain amount of idiocity until it becomes too much. @@synarthrose
@@derzeldagamer7931 Couldn't agree more there. I'm also confused as to why would that fake cop advise her to come to the station, only to redirect her out of it once she actually goes there.
I mean, all she did was sped up their process, but they were already determine with this plan from the get go. The boyfriend knew she was Nina, but to widen the suspects, he made everyone realize who Nina was to lower less suspicion for himself. She was already a fly in their Web, but she could still not be stupid.
@@derzeldagamer7931 oh I agree with you there. I know that a protagonist needs a certain level of stupidity in order to keep the game going and not just end the plot instantly, but there’s a delicate balance between keeping the plot interesting and making the protagonist so stupid that it’s annoyingly unrealistic
Lmao, I loved how Manly took the time to scold Asuka when he untied her in the bathtub lol! It was pretty stupid to just leave like that for food when they could have ordered 'Uher Eats'. This game was great, Chilla's Art always hits the realism with it. I prefer it to their other type of horror.
I played this game yesterday. And oh my god I hated everything as in it felt so creepy. Like Chilla Arts did an amazing job at setting the atmosphere. I felt very disturbed from it. And such a crazy thing while playing. The last stream you play where you play the game the is very much a replica of the streamer's apartment, because I was so paranoid I kept looking behind me. And what I caught was a hand slowly peeping out and start to record you. Absolutely chilling. I wanted to get off my chair but I was forced to actually complete the game. Amazing game

Police can't help you until they do anything to you, which is awful >.

chilla has been consistently growing more bold in dealing with social themes, i think, and im here for it.
personally i read chilla's work as not so much games first but more interactive narratives that utilize the hallmarks of video games to make the ideas more digestible. theyre always these intentionally off-kilter yet also apparently highly faithful depictions of every day life in japanese cities that all revolve around paranoia, social anxiety, and distrust, often masked or bandaged by a very thin veneer of social kayfabe. those are ideas that resonate with a lot of people online, and more and more people offline as well, this sort of concept of social mores and expectations distantly policing a conversation, causing people to revert back to a normalcy that results from a lack of explicitly defined tension, instead of being able to actually deal with the source of the anxiety.
i mean thats kind of how tension is built in horror, but there's also a reason why its such an omnipresent thing for chilla's work.
@@commandantcarpenter They deal with topics that are relatable to the average Joe, which to me works better than games that tries to scare you with some eldritch beings that you know for certain don't exist irl.
@@yaobikuni1349lol The Tale of Genji is definitely not a horror novel ….
The true ending explained it all but the bad ending was also good at portraying they all working together to _rescue the princess_

my guess is that when she dl'ed the game, there was remote access software hidden inside 😅

I believe some security guards actually do that in Japan.
@@zdzislaw_sedsinski The more you know
I know in the US "community service" kind of has the implication that you're being punished but that's not necessarily the case.

@@SilverDragonJay that's why here people call it "volunteering" to avoid the negative connotation.

@@SirDubbs They're not the only English ones: there's also a "getme" and "pwing123" there from what I saw

Creepy detail. At 36:03 a viewer asked "Did you enjoy your bath yesterday?"
So Basically The Ex Boy Friend Got His Whole Family Involved To Stalk His Ex Girlfriend
Yeah I would have loved a ghost being involved in this history as well.
Or maybe... there was supposed to be one but nobody is talking about it?

Thank you
Manly does so much better of a job that I'll usually wait for his video to come out even if others upload before him.
Also lol at everyone being in on it 😂
You always know that you'll get the good stuff with chilla's art. Thanks for another awesome video Manly 👍
Gotta love supportive parents
This game is just showing the reality of how far these so called "fans" can go just to meet their oshi..or ruin their lives if they don't get what they want. Take Kagura Mea for example when the Doxxers discovered her place, they went from sending her death threats to sending her literal shit.
What's Oshi?
@@EngineerMonkey-zp3yj Idol/Star.
@@MICHAELTUMANGDAY Thanks!
It's a good day when Manly uploads a Chilla's Art video
I’m so used to Chilla’s Art npcs being suspicious and weird all the time I didn’t expect how it would end at all lol
I love how the protagonist in this game try to solve her problems blocking people lol
A new Chilla's Art game? Wow i know this is gonna be creepy and i'm all for it.
1:22:33 is like "hey Niina I know you're feeling insecure after everything that's happened to you, which is why I'm so thrilled to tell you about our sponsor - NORD VPN"
Yet another great game from Chilla's Art. Great tension throughout, a crazy reveal that escalates it all, and the rare genuinely good ending to one of these. I also love the sheer audacity of ending on a character promoting another game.
Would have been really scary if while they were following you down the alley at 47:44, you called their phone and it started ringing behind you!
Chilla's art makes another hit!!!
This was so well done! I was creeped out the whole time up until the goofy end with the advertising their convenience store game. 😂
This just makes me miss Manly talks. I wanna hear rambles and casual discussion
This felt like a budget Perfect Blue. Chilla does a great job here keeping the tension & it is still better than the live action version.
It's been a very rough day. This came at the perfect time!, Your videos and energy overall just has always been a nice comfort and distraction. I'm excited for this one!
Get better soon :)
@@sacredyveltal4688 Thank you, I really appreciate that!
@@Cawingcaws you're welcome! Hopefully things have improved a little or a lot! ^^
Well, being stalked is already horror itself.
Hot take: You aren't afraid of being alone in the dark. You are afraid of NOT being alone in the dark.
Damn it, I've been found out.
Harold, get the ground drill!
We're going deeper.
Never imagined I’d see Selen on the cover of a coffee roast brand in a horror game 😭
Or Kureji Ollie for that matter, nice surprise to see them being different coffee roasts
same 😭
Turns out the real supportive family is the boyfriend's family lmao
fr whole family CRAZY
The dad did NOT come back with the milk it seems 💀
I saw that on Steam in upcoming and I was like "this is definitely manly's type of game". Lo and behold this drops today haha.
Holy, there are a bunch of references to Chillas other games like the closing shift and aka manto, stigmatized property, the convenience store(?), and I haven’t even finished the video
As a software developer I can assure you, you want to have physical/mechanical security, "Automatic" screams unsafe in every way conceivable.
Hearing Manly’s family was very supportive of his pursuit in gaming and how his dad believed in him made me happy to hear. You go, Manly. 👍🏻
HEEYYYY CHILLAS PRODUCED ANOTHER GAME, NICE! Excited to see a new Manly video.
Funny considering how popular Chilla's Art games are with streamers, especially VTubers.
Chilla’s art never fails to disappoint
Oh my god! Chillas art always was great in daily horror
100% paranoia feeling from this game
Y'know, the protags situation was so easily solvable right from the start. Firstly, just don't download any shady games, secondly with the Police officer conveniently right infront of your house... just explain your situation to them? Like he even offered the protag to stop by his station... like, even at that early stage of events, the fact someone managed to deactivate her model remotely AND sent her a threatening text should have been enough red flags to do something about it instantly.
Spoiler, I’m assuming you haven’t seen the entire playthrough:
The police officer outside her house isn’t an actual police officer, he’s an accomplice of the stalker, meant to lull her into false security and also make sure she didn’t talk to the real police.
I know that a protagonist needs a certain level of stupidity in order to keep the game going and not just end the plot instantly, but there’s a delicate balance between keeping the plot interesting and making the protagonist so stupid that it’s annoyingly unrealistic
you always have some great commentary at the end of the videos, i really appreciate it. thank you for sharing your thoughts on the subject!
Love the small details. You can see the stalker type stuff a fan wouldn’t know about in her streams
This is honestly one of their best when compared to past works.
This is how you do a horror game, the graphic design and everything added to the creepiness, great job by the dev. This was legit scary.
I'm always looking forward to Manly playing Chilla's Art games!
Whenever I see chilla's art I know its gonna be good
Yay chillas art - love them, they create good games. Big ups Manly, your gameplays always put a smile on my face 😄
Reading the stalkers messages in live chat actually pissed me off a little lol
Damn, she has a really big balcony. Pretty jealous honestly. There's room for a table, chair, a bunch of plants, and a gun for your ex.
