    IMO the CSP is the perfect entry travel credit card.
    Low AF
    No FTF
    Good sub
    Decent multipliers
    Excellent travel protections
    Primary auto CDW
    Most importantly,
    its a metal card 😎

    Went in branch and got mine today for 90K sign up bonus. Few data points I figured I’d flag as I got instantly approved.
    Credit Score: 715
    Hard Inquires: 0
    Payment History: 1 Late Payment in the last 6months
    Annual Income: Less than 6 figures
    Housing Payment: 0
    Other lines of credit: 1 other credit card, & student loans
    Total Credit Card Debt: 0
    90k offer was only offered in branch so def recommend going in branch if you’re looking for that or if you have something on your credit report you need to explain (i.e. late payment, hard inquiries). I also didn’t break any Chase rules so def helped me but figured I’d start a thread of data points in case anyone else gets approved and other are looking to apply

    🏀 One of the biggest benefits of running the Chase setup as a younger person is the ability to product change between the CSP/CSR and the Freedoms. We can try out the perks of each card without committing to paying an annual fee every year or canceling a card 🏀

  • @andrewilliams3265

    🏀 I’ve had the CSP for a few years now. I got it during one of the 80k bonuses. For me it’s worth it, especially if you have other chase cards that rack up points and then use the CSP to get the 25% bonus. If I could tweak the card a bit, I would change the 3X on online grocery shopping to 3X for grocery shopping in general. This would make it a keeper card for me, instead I’ll just downgrade it in a few year and apply for the CSR 🤷🏾‍♂️

  • @Kristin_Soul

    🏀 Great rundown! I love my CSP. I easily get a ton of value out of it for an effective $45 annual fee. While I dislike portals, I’ll use it one time for the hotel credit and I loveee their transfer partners (big United, Hyatt and Marriott user). I also use doordash regularly, use the 3x grocery in person Kroger hack and surprisingly my Apple iCloud storage is even considered 3x streaming by chase. The one thing that would be cool to see though is them move the online grocery category into a real grocery category and 1 or 2 one-time passes to the Chase Sapphire airport lounges. Thanks Sebby!

    I am glad Sebby brought up the fact of being careful of cheaper rates on Google. As someone in the industry you see it a lot, where people book it but these sites tack on dumb fees and in the end it actually costs more than booking through other sites.

    You're describing me at 12:50 I have a pretty solid cash-back setup and recently got the CSP because I do take an occasional trip. I think that even with one or two weekend adventures per year, this card will pay for itself and then some. I have the CFF earning 5x on the rotating categories and 3x at drug stores paired with the CSP for 3.1x dining (when I'm not getting more from a different card, like the Disco paying 5% dining this quarter) and as a points multiplier and for travel expenses. It is the jewel of my card collection even if it won't actually get that many swipes compared to other cards. 🏀

    🏀 The Chase Sapphire Preferred is the easiest card to recommend as a beginner travel card. The ability to transfer out to travel partners with a low annual fee of $95 is pretty awesome in my opinion. While this card isn't one I really ever put spend on, I don't see myself ever downgrading this card unless I want to get the SUB again a few years from now. Great review Sebby!

    The CSP is definitely worth it for anyone, I would say. I recently got this card and I am currently in India. I will easily be able to meet the spend requirement as I have already booked my tickets on the CSP and I plan to have a few other expenses when I return to the US. I have been using the card for all of my expenses in India and have had very little issues with it. It was accepted everywhere with tap to pay, although for some reason it was not accepted when the chip was read (idk why). I also used the card on my Emirates flight and at the Dubai airport. I have paid for stuff in USD, AED and now in INR. I was not charged anything extra for using a foreign card. And with the 80k points bonus, I plan to use them for domestic flights within the US. For someone like me who does not travel on business or flight class, I am thus able to get great value from the CSP - I would happily pay the $95 annual fee to keep this card open. 🏀

    Please keep in mind that CRW through a credit card is a secondary insurance. Sometimes it makes sense to just pay a rental company for insurance. A rental company may sue you for lost revenue in case of an accident. I would rather pay 30 bucks per day than deal with another party in this case a credit card’s insurance company of choice. Well, Amex offers CRW as a secondary insurance. I’m a bit confused about Sapphire though.

    • @00177454419
      @00177454419 Рік тому +1

      The difference between the Primary CDW offered by Chase is the you are not required to use your own Auto Insurance first. With AMEX's secondary insurance is that they will only cover what your insurance won't

    • @ziggy29
      @ziggy29 Рік тому

      Sapphire offers *primary* CDW. With Amex (at least some cards), the default is secondary CDW but you can purchase primary CDW, usually for about $20-25 for the *entire* rental period, where most rental car agencies charge you that for per *day*. So if you have such an Amex card and no Sapphire or other card that has primary CDW, paying for the Amex primary coverage (you sign up with Amex one time and it automatically kicks in when used) might be a good deal -- and certainly is compared to buying ripoff CDW from the agency.

    Hi Sebby, Love your content! Q: "AMEX holds a grudge" Do you know a way that I can remove myself from the AMEX black list? In 2007, during bad times, AMEX closed my account. Recently, I applied with AMEX and got denied . The reason was that Amex closed my account back on 2007. My credit is excellent now in the higher tear 800. Any ideas? Thank you!

      I was able to get off their black list by repaying any & all balances owed including accrued interest.

    Only worth it to me if I'm SUB eligible.
    Beyond that it is just a middling card in the grand scheme.

    • @jpking0
      @jpking0 Рік тому +1

      If you're an Amex lifer, then sure it can seem middling by comparison to all the luxery benefits the Plat and Gold get you. But few folks realize that CSP, and especially the CSR have the best built-in travel insurance than any other card. Up to $20k per trip for you and family is insured booking through this card, which is really, really good peace of mind. Cap1 has only I think $1,500 worth of protection, so basically most economy fares are protected but nothing higher.
      I'm sure Amex has great travel protection on the Plat, but since I have no Amex, I would sweat not buying trip insurance and cancellation protection unless I'm using the CSP.

      @@jpking0 - excellent points. I compared the CSP to my AmEx Gold & the travel benefits are better on the CSP which is why i keep mine. Im sure the platinum benefits, but i hear the CSR goes head to head with the plat on benefits.

    Many of Chase products may not be worth having, it doesn't make you any special paying by sapphire card or your unbranded card at the cash register all the same, I just didn't find any privileges in having such card when paying with it, Chase have a very poor customer service and in my opinion they are oversold.

    Been working on my credit these past years and finally hit 700s and just got approved for CSP with $16,700 and couldn’t be happier. Capital one has me in that low tier and won’t give me more than $2,200. Still can’t believe I got this much. Thanks for the info you provided!

    The CSP will always be worth it for me. I pretty much just use it to transfer my points to Chase’s Travel Partners but the value you get is absolutely crazy! The $50 hotel credit also helps as well. I would just say this card isn’t worth it for the people who don’t really travel.. Great video Sebby! 🙌🏻

    It's interesting to me how many people say this is a starter card or beginner card. That label implies to me that people are extracting more value from high annual fee cards. To me this only works if you are traveling a lot.
    I have this card and it matches my level of spend on travel. I only take maybe 1 - 3 leisure trips per year and have found it works well for me. My effective fee the last couple of years has been about $12 and $40 after using credits and offers. That doesn't count the times I have used the primary CDW on car rental. Count that in and I effectively don't have any fees on this card. I've done the math on getting something like a CSR or other higher AF cards, but I don't find they work as well for the low amount of travel that I do. I don't go to lounges as I typically book my flights in such a way to spend as little time in the airport as possible. Maybe those other cards are for those road warriors in the crowd.

    I always find that hotels are more expensive through the Chase portal, but flights are usually a bit less than booking directly. I also love all the coverage and peace of mind the CSR provides (among other benefits). If they expand their lounge feature, I can see staying with them for many more years. The one feature where I don’t find any real value is their Luxury Hotel and Resort Collection. All in all, I still find CSR a great value.

    🏀 Yet another great video, Sebby. I have learned so much from you. Thank you. I love the CSP. I have used the annual hotel credit. I have also transferred Chase UR points to Hyatt and received great value. I have used the Chase travel portal many times and have found it to be on par or cheaper than booking direct with the hotels and airlines I have used. I do not carry the card in my wallet, but the low annual fee and benefits definitely make it worth it for me. I am seriously considering upgrading the Sapphire Reserve as I plan to do more traveling in the near future; however, I do also have the AMEX Platinum card. Not sure I need two premium travel cards. Not traveling that much...yet.
