I’m still sticking with Sapphire Reserve because of one key difference left out of this comparison video: travel insurance. The Sapphire Reserve offers $10k per person vs Venture X’s puny $2k in the event of a trip cancellation for a covered reason. Also, you get $100k in an emergency evacuation for medical needs or transportation. I’m not even sure if Venture X offers anything for that. So if you’re looking for the best card for travel, I would still recommend Chase Sapphire Reserve over Venture X. The difference in premium is negligible when you factor in all of the insurance benefits.
Agree! I thought about cancelling my CSR too, but changed my mind because of their travel insurance. Having elder parents, it’s a big plus for me. If I travel overseas once in a year, the cost of getting a comparable travel insurance is very close to the $250 break even point. I find the 50% bonus for hotel booking quite beneficial, especially domestically. Also, remember that their rental car insurance IS primary.
@@hungkhu2157Agee 💯! I considered everything you mentioned; compared it to the Amex Plat I held as an add’l cardholder under my ex-husband - chose CSR card to replace Amex Plat rather than become a primary AX Plat cardholder.
Csr saved me with hospital expenses while I was in vacation in Asia covered the entire hospital expense. Had to get a plate on my leg after an accident.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the CSR emergency medical benefit come with a $2500 cap and a $50 deductible? That might be helpful in some Asia counties, but in many countries, (USA for example) $2500 won't cover a stubbed toe. For that reason, I bought an annual travel insurance policy

As someone who lives/flies out of Boston I absolutely love the CSR. Do I wish it had some better perks for the $550 I pay yearly? Of course. But for me personally, losing the restaurant/market aspect of Priority Pass makes ZERO difference as I was never using Priority Pass to visit those places anyways. The perks the card has is something we can't quickly forget about. This is still a great card. I will not be getting rid of it.
It was nice because many airports in the United States do not have Priority Pass lounges, or if they do, the lounges are usually restrictive (ie. only available certain times of the day). The restaurant offered more options, and definitely the food was better. I will be sad to loose this benefit.
I agree it is still a great card. The $300 travel rebate is a no brainer. The conversion of points to Hyatt is very nice and useful. I do use the Priority Pass lounges. I travel quite a bit and am confident that I get $250 (the balance of my annual fee) worth of value eating/drinking and taking advantage of other lounge features. The Amex Platinum makes it too much of a hassle to track and redeem several of the benefits. When I am busy jetting around the World with just a carry on, the last thing I want to do is a bunch of bookkeeping and digging through my credit card statement to get my $25 or $50 bucks this quarter from Amex.
Keeping my Chase Reserve card...the other benefits far outweigh the restaurant credit. I don't own a car but I rent one nearly every month in my home town to run errands, go shopping, deliver orders from my business, etc...and the car rental insurance waiver alone saves me $50+ ($600/yr) not to mention they covered a cracked windshield damage claim that would have cost me another $100. Also the $300 annual travel credit applies to my local bus/train transit pass so even if I don't travel, I still get several months free.
My primary travel card is C1VX and CSP is secondary. For someone traveling 2-4 times a year, it works out fine. Priority pass restaurant perk is not a big deal for me. In about 2-3 years I will evaluate the situation and if CSR makes sense I will probably get it then. I am not much fan of AMEX coupon system.
C1VX is my primary and CSP is secondary as well. Not a fan of AMEX coupons, but have the no fee Everyday Card just to earn MR points and if I ever do get the Platinum or Gold, I can cancel those when the AF is due, but still keep my MR points
One benefit to consider is the Trip Delay. A lot of other cards offer trip delay benefit, but they require that you pay the entire flight on that card. For the Reserve, you are covered by the Trip delay protection as long as you pay any part of the flight with it. For example, even if you pay $1, you will get the Travel delay protection from the card. I was able to use this benefit recently.
@@KymanitheCaracal I don't know but you can just apply for the flex itself and get the bonus or do or the other ones won't be eligible for the bonus in 2 years. If you already have the card so you always go to the freedom card. OG Cuz you get the freedom bonuses every 2 years. As long as you don't hold a freedom, that's not the OG Because the OG is a different entity
Got the venture X card because of your videos was considering getting the Chase card as well, but now I may not. The one bonus of the Chase card is transferring points to Hyatt.
Often overlooked - the CSR, AMEX Platinum, and maybe the United Infinite card (not totally sure about that one) are the only cards I know of that have emergency evacuation/medical insurance coverage. That can be a huge benefit to someone who travels a lot and is looking for an alternative to annual travel insurance. My understanding is the main difference between the coverages between the AMEX and CSR Is that the CSR will cover you as long as you paid for some part of your travel with your card. For the AMEX, you have to pay for everything with the card for the trip to be considered covered. I spent about $500 on annual travel insurance last year. The coverage limits are better with the separate policy, but I may consider dropping it this year as long as I use my CSR. After having a bad car wreck a couple of years ago, I realized that s*it happens. Even at 45. If you are young, you may not think about it. But I don't think you want to be stuck in a hospital in a developing country.
@charliedurham4248, 5his is by for one of the MOST underrated and least talked about topic ever in the travel game. I am sooooooo glad that you mentioned it because things do happen and most of us move about our days as if it won't. Thank you so much, hoping more people read this comment from you.
Austin has a chase sapphire lounge. Most of it is outside. Yes, outside. Food is obtained via vending- style machines, no charge. The "bar" only serves canned drinks.
@@Respect_Mah_Authoritah_ good Q!! Dunno. Not always bloody hot, sometimes there's a shady spot, almost always a breeze, typically noisy, occasionally room inside, mostly included as a benefit of the CC & no other lounge option available.
I JUST signed up for this card BECAUSE of PP restaurants for a trip I have in August to and from two airports with restaurant options. I'm very ticked about the short notice of this announcement.
I have a specific spend that makes the CSR worth it for me - I spend a ton on cruising, which codes as general travel. The CSR and the new WF Autograph Journey are the best cards I know of for cruises. The difference between 2x and 3x, assuming 2cpp, is worth about 2% incrementally. $12,500 in cruise charges makes up the effective AF. If WF gets better transfer partners, they may steal my cruise spend away from Chase.
I cancelled after Bilt came out, there is absolutely no value left to pay their annual fees and keep the card when Bilt and Amex gold can do everything and better.
I have the card. It makes up for a lot of that cost also with the $15/mo insta cart and 5/mo door dash, plus the delay and car insurance. I actually ended up using the delay insurance on the first trip i took after getting the card. Well worth it.
Booking anything through the Chase Portal is more expensive than booking through the company. For instance a rental car through the Chase Portal was $725 compared to $450 when booked through the same company on their website. Without the restaurant benefit I will be canceling.
I was actually on the fence about getting the CSR until this came out. But I don't think they're alone. All of the big credit card issuers are cutting back benefits, it seems.
Agreed, the benefits cuts are across the board. Personally I think the CSR was getting long in the tooth and this recent pull back didn't help their case
I I absolutely ABHOR that you have to book travel through the Chase portal and only earn 5 measley points, that's trash and will keep you earning at a snail's pace.
I had a flight cancellation recently and was rebooked on a 1 stop flight instead. With CSR + authorized user, my family enjoyed free nice lounge access with nice breakfast food + meals at 2 restaurants (once at start and another at the one stop). The meals alone were worth $110 each (Priority pass card holder + guest credit for each card holder). That was totally worth it for us. Sad to see it go
Although I have used the restaurant benefit, this change won't make me cancel. Plus JFK is my home airport, so Sapphire lounge. I also use the hell out of the Lyft pink membership.
I'm new to the ccd game and don't plan to go too wild. I already have the capital one duo, and plan to move to chase next. Reserved was never in my sights though. I don't travel enough, so 1 premium travel card is plenty. The kids are going to need a Disney world trip soon enough though, which I plan to cover through the chase trio.
Have been planning for months on which card is right for me and I decided on the CSR because I travel for work about 3-4 times per month (domestic). More importantly the partners that CSR have, aligns with my airlines. I am new to the “game” and this would be my 2nd ever card but with an 800+ credit score I don’t have any concerns on getting approved and losing food I never had access to doesn’t effect me as much as others. *Tip: planning to apply at a branch for the card for a better SUB.
I've always been curious of what an US card user thinks about cards elsewhere in the world. For example a Mastercard in Honduras, offers 7% cashback on Phone and Internet bill, Food and Travel through the card reward program, Amazon (both Prime Video and actual Amazon Purchases), Spotify, Netflix, Restaurants, Deliveries and any Videogame related purchase. Gold level for $100 membership.
I'm based out of Boston as well. Sad to lose the restaurant access, but honestly I'm actually willing to lose it if it takes some of the demand away from the Sapphire Lounge at Logan. I found trying to utilize the restaurant benefit was more of a chore than a reward, and I had to kind of go out of my way to maximize the benefit. With a wife and kid, and the restaurant only providing a discount for two people (myself and guest) it ended up not being a very "needed" benefit. My wife, daughter, and I each really, really enjoy the Sapphire lounge, and would appreciate it being just a little bit less busy at times. If this change accomplishes that, then fantastic. Especially as Chase expands the amount of lounges.
I'm in the same boat! I didn't really find myself going to the restaurants with Priority Pass. Anything/everything I needed while traveling through Logan I could get at the Lounge. And in my honest opinion, Sapphire Lounge has the best view of any lounge in the entire airport.
I got the Venture X earlier this year and decided to downgrade the Chase Reserve to Chase Preferred. With the latest changes , I’m more assured that I made the right decision!
I literally just got it a few months back so I plan on keeping it. I am bummed about the loss of Priority Pass for now but I can still get some value in the card since I pair it with my Freedom Unlimited card as well.
Currently use the CSP & AmEx Green as my travel cards. However, im thinking about going for the Cap1 VX for free AUs. I would prefer the CSR, but only travel 2-3 times per year.
14:00 without saying anything useful. CSR is easier to use for airline tickets and travel insurance (if they keep it). You missed those benefits that no other cards offer.
I got a mailer for 70k points but I’m at 2/30 and I just got the Platinum which was 5/24 so if the platinum is not on my credit report by 5/3 I’ll get the Reserve. Other wise Bilt works for me for Hyatt stays
BOS Chase Sapphire lounge by The Club costs $75 per visit. If you visit the lounge at least twice a year then you meet the $150 above the CSP $100AF cost. A choice between PC CSR to CSP or replace CSR with Capital One Venture X Business. If you have C1VX PP lounges then you need to pay $75 per visit to use the Chase Sapphire lounge.
Hi. Sapphire Reserve card holder and Boston resident. I might be misinterpreting the comment, but access to the Sapphire Lounge as a CSR holder is not only free, but unlimited, for you and up to 2 traveling companions.
@@newagain9964 If you have C1VX Personal or AMEX Plat Priority Pass then you need to pay $75 per visit to the Chase Sapphire lounges. I have a CSR and live in Miami. Now they removed the restaurant that was available for American concourses C&D and the only availability in the whole airport is a Turkish Airline lounge in concourse E which is far to reach unless you have a flight out of that concourse…. So they are pretty much kicking me out of the program… AX has a Centurion Lounge in D…. I hate to switch cards but with hard to access lounge in home airport… the card becomes hard to sell for Miami residents
I went to a Capital One lounge and asked about the venture X business card having restaurants on Priority Pass and the guy double checked for me and he says it does not have restaurants. I Even showed him the article that says it does and he checked and said that article is wrong
I think this card being the only one of the big 3 premium travel cards to offer Hyatt as a transfer partner is very underrated. That's really the main reason why I'm leaning towards the CSR over the Amex Platinum or Venture X. I already have an Amex Gold for more of the every day spend categories.
I would say not. The Sapphire Reserve might be an average premium card now, but Chase's overall system still provides the best value. The future of the points and miles game is iffy. If Congress passes the credit card completion act the points and miles game is over like we know. Quite frankly, it'll kill travel as we know it because Airlines are dependent on the revenue they generate from credit cards. Also, with interest rates and inflation where they are they need to hedge risks, because delinquencies are rising thus banks don't really want to issue credit. The golden era of points and miles are definitely behind us and will probably not come back for a while.
@@IkaikaArnado its true. It is average, true, but what are the alternatives? C1VX is for sure going to be devalued hard in the near future (unsustainable loss leader) and the Amex Plat is just not right for the vast majority of people, and a little annoying with credits and such for the people it is good for. I'm honestly thinking I'll ride out the Reserve and if I end up super wealthy one day I'll get the Plat or whatever similar card and just enjoy the premium service and not worry about the cash loss
I still cannot find the answer to one single question: which premium credit card should someone get if they are only getting one? C1, Amex Platinum, Chase SP? Personally I have Amex gold and I’ve been debating which travel card to get. Great content on this channel 😊
Chase did me a favor announcing this early. My CSP is at 11 months and I was calendar watching to upgrade next month to CSR solely bc of the PP restaurant value. Now that they've removed restaurants, I get to save $455 on the annual fee by sticking w/ the CSP having gotten outsized 90K points from last yrs CSP bonus
Your last summery of comparison is valid but you’ll have to have other 3, 4 cards to have the combined benefits of one reserve card. After $300 statement credits of $300 I think it still is the best. By the way, you forgot the delay, cancellation compensations…
The 50% bonus on using the sapphire reserve portal was the cheapest option for my specific flight for my specific date that I needed for multiple people. With that and Hyatt, it makes it a better deal for me often than the Platinum. Especially since I don't like buying a coupon book like AMEX makes me.
Other cards such as Venture X and AMEX also have transfer partners, but who these partners are also plays a big part in choosing which card. The Hyatt partnership with Chase makes it a huge plus for the CSR. For me, the partners for AMEX and Venture X are not appealing (either I don't like the hotels or their rewards programs suck). That plus the 50% bonus on travel booked through the portal make it the choice for me.
is it worth keeping if you ha the quadfecta : chase freedom unlimited, Chase freedom Flex, Chase business ink, Chase Sapphire Reserve. I only keey the reserve so i can trafer my points from the other cards. If you have a better trifecta quadfecta i would like to know which card company?
One could argue, For utilization purposes you probably shouldn't cancel your cards. Just simply not use it. The more cards you have your credit score will fluctuate less
Sad live near LAX/OC airports PP sucks here removed restaurants and no CSR Lounge. CSR benefits expire also. Moving to Amex Gold and Amex Blue Business Plus then Platinum and BILT. Cap1 didn't give me a Venture X even though I have checking and savings accounts with them.
John I have a question If I applied for CL in got denied can I Appiled for a new credit card with the same card company that denied me a CL . Just curious.
Venture X is goat. Why? Because it pays for itself. It doesn't matter how much they devalue perks. As long as it pays for itself, it's staying in my Wallet.
Goat, no. Keeper, yes. Amex platinum offers a lot of benefits that the Venture X doesn’t. I just got upgraded to a Marriott suite because of Amex giving me Gold Elite status.
I got this card when it first came out (I was part of that frenzy!)... yay 100K bonus! I have not canceled it since then. Yes, there are some lost benefits and the restaurants from PP hurts a lot, but I still love the car rental insurance and redeeming for 1.5 when booking boutique hotels through the portal. I love transferring to Hyatt, but I have the INK Business Preferred, so I don't consider that an exclusive benefit of the CSR in my case. I hope they renew their partnership with Lyft. I do take advantage of the Lyft Pink membership and the 10X on rides. All in all, at $550, with the super easy to use $300 travel credit (ahem, ahem, AMEX) and the $5 monthly DoorDash credit (which I do use), I'm still willing to pay a net $190 annual fee for it. I hope the open a Sapphire Lounge at DEN!
As someone who books through Travel Portal 95% of times, I think 50% boost still beats them all when it comes to booking flights, hotels and rentals. For $190 a year it is truly a blast. My soon to be wife has CSP which also covers groceries and points flow to my CSR. Even more bang for the buck, beating Amex Good 4x by getting 4.5x from those points
My husband had the sapphire reserve and loved it for the restaurant credit so he downgraded it and got the altitude card because it has priority pass with restaurant access still. Hopefully it stays 🤞
I can still eat at the Cleveland airport restaurant and avail the benefit via sapphire reserve. I also like it because I can transfer points from freedom unlimited card and get more out of them. It’s still a really nice card and allows me good prices on hotels and the accumulated points let me take one full vacation for free every year.
I don't think ANY travel credit card offers restaurant access with Priority Pass anymore. AMEX Platinum, and Capital One Venture X no longer offer it under Priority Pass. Chase was probably the last.
Thanks for the video. I plan to downgrade the CSR to unlimited. I also have another unlimited and the flex should I use up my points in the CSR before I downgrade to get max values?
I still feel Chase has really valuable points because they have United Airlines and Hyatt. They also have really amazing transfer bonuses with transfer partners.
Sir John, could you please help us with having a short term rental in a city that bans them? or restricts them? please. For example Arlington Texas. What options as owner do we have? and what can we do?
So I have my preferred but I plan on downgrading to a second flex so that I can apply for the reserve As a JFK/LGA user it makes sense because we have chase sapphire lounges. So far I’m only using the venture X to access the priority pass lounges Basically chase losing restaurants doesn’t affect me much But I might hold out cause of the rumors that the Cap1 will add lounges to JFK and LGA
I’m also based in Boston and am planning on keeping the card because of the Sapphire lounges! My family is in NYC so I purposely fly out of Terminal C via JetBlue (Logan) and back via Terminal B JetBlue (LGA) and use the Sapphire lounge both ways. I would value each lounge visit to at least $25. I go in on an empty stomach and leave fully stuffed 😂. Got a free facial from LGA recently so I might even value the LGA lounge at $50. But if I wasn’t based in a city or fly frequently to a city with a Sapphire Lounge I don’t think I would keep the card tbh. Those lounges are what make the $250 fee (post travel credit) worth it for me. I also have the Venture X and Amex Platinum and the Sapphire Lounges beat both of their Lounges!
I have a discover card as a beginner with a 700 and something credit score with it being opened for a few months now. What advice would you give for beginners with a good score that is wanting to get the most out of credit cards and premium benifits?
I had a Chase banking account as well as the Chase sapphire preferred with 10k+ for a year… with no reasoning they decided to close my accounts. I was always in time and it sucked. I had heard them doing so with checking account but they also did it with my CC. 🤷🏼♀️
Can someone please confirm what I just heard! The extra .50 pts we get for the reserve is only good for the UR portal?? It doesn't boot your overall pts????
John Liang: I used your advice to get the full Chase suite in the last 14 months (Flex, Sapphire Preferred, Unlimited, Amazon Prime, Ink Cash). To address the 5/24 rule, I am now past the anniversary of the Flex. Do I need to cancel it so I can apply for a new one (and new promotion) in 13 months or could I be approved for a new one while still holding one?

My thoughts exactly, I’ve got both cards, travel 3-5 times a year. No complaints, definitely helps me out during my travels
C1VX is my primary and CSP is secondary as well.
Not a fan of AMEX coupons, but have the no fee Everyday Card just to earn MR points and if I ever do get the Platinum or Gold, I can cancel those when the AF is due, but still keep my MR points
As if CSR doesn’t have coupons🥴…and they’re even worse than Amex! 🤡
Benefits are getting cut left and right, the venture x losing presidents circle and chase constantly losing perks haha
Does that really matter now with the new law coming out where airlines have to refund you for 3 hour or longer delays ?
Instead of Cancelling, I'd downgrade to either a Chase Sapphire Pereferred or a Chase Freedom Flex.
You never downgrade to freedom flex 🤦 you downgrade to og freedom
@@Brianpeckin Does thst one have Cell Phone Protection????
@@KymanitheCaracal I don't know but you can just apply for the flex itself and get the bonus or do or the other ones won't be eligible for the bonus in 2 years. If you already have the card so you always go to the freedom card. OG
Cuz you get the freedom bonuses every 2 years. As long as you don't hold a freedom, that's not the OG
Because the OG is a different entity
There's so many cards with cell phone production, no need to get the freedom Flex@@KymanitheCaracal
@@Brianpeckin What's the difference?
If you only pay for the flight with the Amex Platinum, do you still get the medical insurance coverage?
@@chicagotomahawk , I don't know. I would assume yes, but I am not sure
Austin airport has no PP lounges, that alone is why I am keeping the CSR.
Why would anyone sit outside on the terrace in 100+ Austin weather?
@@Respect_Mah_Authoritah_ good Q!! Dunno. Not always bloody hot, sometimes there's a shady spot, almost always a breeze, typically noisy, occasionally room inside, mostly included as a benefit of the CC & no other lounge option available.
I JUST signed up for this card BECAUSE of PP restaurants for a trip I have in August to and from two airports with restaurant options. I'm very ticked about the short notice of this announcement.
Agreed. Same happened with Hilton Business. Looking at US Bank Altitude or BofA as my new restaurant card.
Benefits should last for the full year that was paid. It is robbery otherwise.
PP?
Bilt and Amex Gold can't combine to give you 15x on your travel points
If the AMEX Platinum didn’t exist or if the Sapphire Reserve kept most of its legacy benefits, I’d apply for the latter
As good as VX is or even CSP and WF Journey, plat is in a league of its own. But it’s losing some luster last few years.
The reimbursement for global entry is only once every 4 years, not annually!
Because you only have to renew it every 4 years 🫠
I have the card. It makes up for a lot of that cost also with the $15/mo insta cart and 5/mo door dash, plus the delay and car insurance. I actually ended up using the delay insurance on the first trip i took after getting the card. Well worth it.
My question is, "Is there really a value in this system if you have to go through their website to book?"
Amex isn’t (that much). And they’re continually offering bigger subs. Soooooo
@@newagain9964chase points > Amex points
@@newagain9964chase points > Amex points
I I absolutely ABHOR that you have to book travel through the Chase portal and only earn 5 measley points, that's trash and will keep you earning at a snail's pace.
I had a flight cancellation recently and was rebooked on a 1 stop flight instead. With CSR + authorized user, my family enjoyed free nice lounge access with nice breakfast food + meals at 2 restaurants (once at start and another at the one stop). The meals alone were worth $110 each (Priority pass card holder + guest credit for each card holder). That was totally worth it for us. Sad to see it go
I commented a while ago about the audio, thank you for fixing the bass bounce
Although I have used the restaurant benefit, this change won't make me cancel. Plus JFK is my home airport, so Sapphire lounge. I also use the hell out of the Lyft pink membership.
And the fact we get 10x on Lyfts until March 2025
Yeah all these offers expire and we get barely anything for the same high fee that only goes up
I'm new to the ccd game and don't plan to go too wild. I already have the capital one duo, and plan to move to chase next. Reserved was never in my sights though. I don't travel enough, so 1 premium travel card is plenty. The kids are going to need a Disney world trip soon enough though, which I plan to cover through the chase trio.
With the C1 duo you're well covered assuming it's the Savor One and Venture X!
3% for travel including ground transportation does it for me. I use it to pay for my daily commute and that adds up really fast.
Does Amtrak count too? I feel like yes, but just wanna double check
I’m from BOSTON and I love using the Chase lounge at Logan. Well keep the card because of all then lounge visits we make a year
Is the Chase Freedom Unlimited good to get if I need a VISA credit card?
I've always been curious of what an US card user thinks about cards elsewhere in the world. For example a Mastercard in Honduras, offers 7% cashback on Phone and Internet bill, Food and Travel through the card reward program, Amazon (both Prime Video and actual Amazon Purchases), Spotify, Netflix, Restaurants, Deliveries and any Videogame related purchase. Gold level for $100 membership.
Global entry renewal is once every 5 years. So this $100 credit is really worth $20 a year.
I‘m definitely downgrading. The travel portal is missing so many flight options now that many of the benefits I got the card for are worthless
I just want Korean air back as a chase partner damn it.
Wait, no more Priority Pass? I’m considering opening a CSR
@@shannon9913 I meant no restaurant benefit from Priority Pass. They still have Priority Pass.
U also have the us bank reserve that offers restaurants.
Currently use the CSP & AmEx Green as my travel cards. However, im thinking about going for the Cap1 VX for free AUs. I would prefer the CSR, but only travel 2-3 times per year.
First AD was AMEX Platinum lololol. They watching you!
I’m never getting rid of my Sapphire Reserve! 😭 Also, it is unfathomable to me that no one talks about how broken that the Lyft benefit truly is.
What u mean broken? And u do realize most influencers are Chase shills, right?
I have been using the Lyft 10X benefit a good deal when I'm on vacay. How is it broken?
@@Frenchykbroken as in “it’s too good to be true” must be broken.
14:00 without saying anything useful. CSR is easier to use for airline tickets and travel insurance (if they keep it). You missed those benefits that no other cards offer.
How does one get 2.4m chase points? Just by constantly signing up for cards and downgrading or cancelling? 6:05?
I got a mailer for 70k points but I’m at 2/30 and I just got the Platinum which was 5/24 so if the platinum is not on my credit report by 5/3 I’ll get the Reserve. Other wise Bilt works for me for Hyatt stays
If the annual fee was still 450 I would maybe consider the card otherwise I’ll stick with my VX.
Same! At the launch it was 450 making it "effectively" 150, such a good value play back then
CSR is mainly great for priority pass restaurants... said no one ever.
Why would pay $75 tho? Oh, u wouldn’t.
@@newagain9964 If you have C1VX Personal or AMEX Plat Priority Pass then you need to pay $75 per visit to the Chase Sapphire lounges. CSR customers rationalize if they visit a Chase Sapphire lounge often then the $150AF difference between CSR and CSP is valuable to them. Howeer, to passengers that do not have Chase Sapphire lounges in their local airport C1VX Business is appealing.

Because C1 won't give me the VX, I may product change my CSP to CSR.
The Venture X welcome offer is NOT better than the Reserve. 75k miles vs 60k miles, but the 60k is worth 1.5x more when redeeming for travel.
Trying to decide on my next card and now I don't know which one I want to get.
I went to a Capital One lounge and asked about the venture X business card having restaurants on Priority Pass and the guy double checked for me and he says it does not have restaurants. I Even showed him the article that says it does and he checked and said that article is wrong
Oh wow. What do the T&C's say?
A CSR refresh is almost undoubtedly coming this year.
I hope so as I just got it
would be nice, but i doubt it. they recently added more random partner credits and slighty changed the appearance of the card.
I think this card being the only one of the big 3 premium travel cards to offer Hyatt as a transfer partner is very underrated. That's really the main reason why I'm leaning towards the CSR over the Amex Platinum or Venture X. I already have an Amex Gold for more of the every day spend categories.
The card seems due for a refresh. Do you think that might come soon?
If you have amex gold , the platinum would make sense if you can justify the credits and your points would be apart of the same ecosystem
@@Josh__TG Thanks man! Much appreciated.
Depends what u value. Easy redemption with value = chase. More MR pts and unlocked status = Amex. Low maintenance and low/no cost travel card = cap1.
I love my us bank infinite reserve card Only $400 AF and you get yearly $325 travel credit.
FYI - The CSR and CSP welcome bonus is temporarily up to 75,000 points.
Same in PDX. No lounge, but food options. Now that is gone.
John I have a question
If I applied for CL in got denied can I Appiled for a new credit card with the same card company that denied me a CL . Just curious.
Your videos are the best! We travel a lot and you've given us great tips. Thanks!
Venture X is goat. Why? Because it pays for itself. It doesn't matter how much they devalue perks. As long as it pays for itself, it's staying in my Wallet.
AND as long as VX had primary car rental insurance, it’s a keeper.
Goat, no. Keeper, yes. Amex platinum offers a lot of benefits that the Venture X doesn’t. I just got upgraded to a Marriott suite because of Amex giving me Gold Elite status.
Not for me because the insurance and protection offered by Venture X is inferior to those of CSR or Amex Platinum.
You know that buying airline tickets is more expensive right? So the 50% extra points is no really 50% is much less…
@@aldotorre8802I never said I booked flights. I said boutique hotels.
So i should bet this one and not chase Sapphire preferred ? I already have 2 credits cards i only want 3-4 max that’s it .
I don't think ANY travel credit card offers restaurant access with Priority Pass anymore. AMEX Platinum, and Capital One Venture X no longer offer it under Priority Pass. Chase was probably the last.
You are right but they have much better lounge options. Now CSR without restaurants falls shorts compare to other one… by a lot
Thanks for the video. I plan to downgrade the CSR to unlimited. I also have another unlimited and the flex should I use up my points in the CSR before I downgrade to get max values?
Global entry credit every year? I thought it’s once every four years…
I still feel Chase has really valuable points because they have United Airlines and Hyatt. They also have really amazing transfer bonuses with transfer partners.
Sir John, could you please help us with having a short term rental in a city that bans them? or restricts them? please. For example Arlington Texas. What options as owner do we have? and what can we do?
So I have my preferred but I plan on downgrading to a second flex so that I can apply for the reserve
As a JFK/LGA user it makes sense because we have chase sapphire lounges.
So far I’m only using the venture X to access the priority pass lounges
Basically chase losing restaurants doesn’t affect me much
But I might hold out cause of the rumors that the Cap1 will add lounges to JFK and LGA
I have Amex gold and platinum as well as CSP and C1VX and couldn’t be happier with those 4. I’ll pass on CSR.
Like to know how you accumulate 2.4 million points!?
You get 1 sapphire lounge visit per year with priority pass anyway. And Hyatt and united are built travel partners with no Annual fee. Hard pass
would CSP would be better to downgrade?
Can someone please confirm what I just heard! The extra .50 pts we get for the reserve is only good for the UR portal?? It doesn't boot your overall pts????
it’s always been that way. that’s why you use transfer partners because they give you more of a boost
It depends
I am sticking with American Express all day everyday!
I have Venture X, Bilt, and IHG Business. Have not had a big need for CSR as of yet. Loss of PP restaurants not a big deal, tbh.
It is a huge deal, considering how much the AF is.
Could chase finally get a grocery category!? Say the sapphires having a 3x
Holy 2.4 million points!
My Ritz Carlton Chase Card is GOATED 💪 💥
I just dropped it down to the preferred. Interesting that everyone else is seeing it
The reserve has always been a bad deal. I went with the preferred because it’s better value for me
