For me, the one big downside to the chase setup is the lack of a 2x everywhere card. Amex has their BBP, Capital One has their Venture cards, but Chase only has their Freedom Unlimited at 1.5x. Chase might be cheaper, but too many overlapping multiplier categories and a lack of a 2x workhorse card made me go with Amex 🏀
Amex doesn’t have Hyatt or something that can fill the gap for redemption rates on economy travel. I’d rather have 2 cpp on a 1.5% card than 1.5 cpp on a 2% card that forces me to jump through the hoops of the gold card to get value in select categories
I think that not a bad choice, but chase points are worth more on average than other points for it could be much closer to 2x or more for many redemptions when compared to other points.
Loved this. You are brilliant! Thnx :)
New to optimizing credit card game: have had chase freedom OG, CSP, and amazon prime card for a couple years now. Got into optimizing my spend. Now added CFF and CFU (product changed from OG flex) and got into Amex with Plat/Gold/BBP in last 6 months. Now onto CIC and CIU (working on those SUBs). Pretty happy so far. Next stop Hilton cards and more business amex cards
I was looking forward new Chase Videos :). Thank you
Love the chase cards!
I'm currently rocking the CSR, CFU, CFF, CF. Plus some other cards. Although I focus on keeper cards and haven't seen as many good options for that lately 🏀

Chase is coming out with a 90k introductory bonus on the 19th this month for the Sapphire Preffered card. It starts at chase bank branches on the 19th but for some reason not online then.
The 19th is a Sunday......
Check online first on Sunday…but likely the week of the 19th as in the 20th.
Really? I just applied last week dammit.
Let’s go! I was waiting on an elevated offer before I applied since I was going to be at after 5/24.
@@johnsoukhot7280 I heard from a guy (actually worked for him); that if you applied for the Preferred within 90 days of an upgraded offer they will honor the upgrade to the new welcome offer. Doesn't hurt to call and ask for the honor IF the 90k is actually real.
Love the videos. A plus for the day woke up early saw that chase was doing 90k sign up bonus this morning set the appointment and got approved with 10.4k PERFFERED CARD NICE!!!
🏀 As always, rational, realistic, and informative, thank you
🏀 one of the best presentations you’ve done.
CFF, CFU, CSP, WOH,
Outside of chase, cap one VX, and will get the savor one in May. That will be my endgame setup until a better CSR option 🏀🏀🏀
🏀love the exodia reference. I'm doing my CSR ->CSP backwards to what you said. getting the csr bonus and using it to get global entry (as well as boosted earnings) then downgrading after 1 year. I may be different because I had my previous CSR in 2018 and currently have over 500k urs making the csr more appealing.
Currently rocking the CSP, CFF and just got CIC as my Chase setup. Honestly the unlimited cards don't really do it for me with their 1.5x points which is so minimal to me even though I highly value chase points more but may end getting them just for the bonus later. Other than that I have a Altitude Reserve for my catch all spending which does a much better job for me. 🏀
🏀 Good Info!
🏀 I’m digging the basketball references!
🏀 Chase supremacy!! Running the CSR/CFU/CFF trifecta and applying for the personal Hyatt, IHG, and Bonvoy cards when I’m at 2/24 🏀
Running Exodia here: CSP, CFF, CFU, CIC, and CIU. I've had the CSP almost 4 years, so starting this summer I will be waiting for a good intro bonus to apply for the CSR
Always good math and setup cards for the best value. 🏀🏀🏀🏀
🏀 Right now I’m running the CFF and CSP. For my 5th card in 5/24, I opted for the Hyatt card over the CFU. The annual free night is worth more than the half percent I’ll earn waiting to get out of jail. I also get 2x points on all purchases for the first 6 months, although that’s about to end. I’ll probably be working with the CSP as my catch all until I’m out of jail.
Hey Sebby. Do you know if I can use my chase business card to leverage my overall personal credit utilization?
I’d like to see them unify the freedom(Flex) with freedom unlimited and just guarantee the min1.5 points( or meet other cards at 2xpoints)
- i wish the freedom cards offered different categories instead of 3x on drugs & dining.
🏀 not running a chase set up yet, planning to. As for 5/24, I feel it’s unnecessary for the CFU/CFF; I can sort of understand it for the CSP/CSR. But for the entry cards just make it known stronger credit profiles are required.
🏀. I currently have the CFF, CFU, CSP, CIC, and CIU. I plan to get the WOH/Venture X cards soon and later in the year the companion pass with southwest. I appreciate the Jrue Holiday mention. Bucks in 6!
Doesn't us bank priority pass include restaurants?
🏀, lol you doing voice imitations is awesome lol
I have the CFU, CFF, and CSP. Considering upgrading my CSP to CSR, seems like it might be better for me. 🏀
I basically run this setup, but with the ink preferred substituted out for the United Explorer.
🏀 Everyone should listen to your advice on 5/24 Sebby. It makes the most sense and allows for the most value for the vast majority of people. Awesome video.
🏀 running the pentafecta- CSP,CFU,CF,CIU,CIC. 700k UR
🏀 I didn't know about the CCW on the Ink Unlimited! Good to know. I just downgraded my CSR to a Freedom. Currently running the following setup:
(2) CFs
CFF
CFU
CIU
CIC
CIP
Love the euro league b roll
I just got approved for my first chase card. CSP
I’m over 5/24 though. Really wish I started with chase when I started a year or so ago. 🏀
🏀 thumbs up Sebby. I'm currently trying to hit the minimum spend for the Venture X now. I'm not even sure if I can still get chase cards...I have 8 with Chase already
Automatically liked cuz of Exodia 😂 but very good analogy with chase cards 👍
🏀I have to show my appreciation.... I watched one your videos about the chase trifecta and how to maximize my points about 4 years ago... And I've been using the trifecta for all my travel... I've been all over the world to about +15 different countries and have never paid more than about $300 max....using all points... Many thanks and appreciation to you for providing me this information....might look into trying to the Ink Cards now 👀
Do any of the business cards also get 5% in the chase travel portal?
🏀 I have the CSP and CFU. My CSP AF hits in May, year 1 for me. Would it be worth requesting a CSR upgrade or just wait the next 3 years until I would be able to get the SUB? Also looking at CIC for a trio setup.
🏀 Sebby if you were at 3/24 (CSR, CFF, WoH) would you use up a slot on the 150k Amex Platinum offer? I would do ink cards after and close with CFU. Only thing I’d miss out on would be possibly picking up a Boundless to product change into the Ritz card.
Currently running OG Chase Freedom (better than the flex because its a visa more accepted), Freedom Unlimited, CSP + AMEX BCP $180 annual fee and you get gas coverage you wouldn't get with amex gold.
Sebastian, I currently have the CSR, can I downgrade it to a Freedom and apply for the CSP and still get the welcome bonus points? Thanks!
Portland (PDX) does have Alaska, Delta and United lounges
🏀 my p2 and i have talked a lot about maximizing our setups lately so this is good.
I use 5/24 as a sort of velocity check. A new personal card every six months., which may or may not be chase. A new Chase every three months, which may be personal or business. Then non-Chase business cards to fill in the gaps.
Currently using: CSP + CIU + CFF
i would love to add the CIC, but im above 5/24
Just get all the no annual fee cards to pair with a CSR or CIP depending on how you spend points. Pretty simple lol.
🏀 For the Chase side of things, I’m running the trifecta with CSP, CFU, CFF and was already at 5/24 when I applied and got approved for the chase IHG Premier, so kinda 6/24 I guess with the hotel partner.
Hi Sebby so I have capital one
And chase freedom what will be the next card to get if my focus is travel thanks for you help🏀🏀🏀
CSP,Flex, Freedom, and the secret is the Hyatt card
🏀 I'm running the reserve and the freedom... Though I also use the amazon/whole foods card because I shop at those two primarily. Also loving the basketball analogies, though as a Boston fan Smart has not been carrying his weight recently!
I have these two as well. I am looking for a good card for groceries. We spend lots of money there.
@@gugy68 Citi Premier or Amex Gold. Premier offers 3x on groceries and gas. Gold is 4x on groceries and restaurants (capped at 25k spend per year, then 1x afterwards).
If you want to swim around the C1 ecosystem, SavorRewards (NOT SavorOne Rewards) offers 4x on restaurants, entertainment, certain streaming, and 3x on groceries, 1x elsewhere). There's an annual fee of $95 for SavorRewards, but depending upon how much you spend yearly on restaurants, entertainment and qualified streaming it could be worth it to have both Premier and SavorRewards (which is what I'm going to acquire next, because it is worth it based upon my spend).
Also, Citi TY and C1 Miles have *nearly the exact same* airline transfer partners, which is incredibly nice. I think the only difference is that one has Qatar and the other doesn't, but they both have British airways and one has AerLingus, which are both Avios, so if you can transfer into BA or Lingus, you can transfer to British Airways, then transfer into Qatar if you need to. I think another difference is one has AeroPlan and maybe the other doesn't. AeroPlan can be useful as well, if you need to fly exclusively *A/United, but Iberia has very solid redemptions for domestic travel if you're okay with OW/AA for that.
🏀 running just CSP but waiting get the Freedom then flex
A lot of knowledge 🏀
🏀 I have the Trifecta and my fiancé has the Flex and Unlimited. We wanted another travel card just for her, so we decided for her to go to AMEX. Was that a good idea? she got 150k intro for plat and will probably get the gold in a few months or next year. Other plan was her also getting the CSR. (You should do a video about Player 2 strategies! :) )
🏀 Saphire Preferred, Freedom Flex and Ink Cash.
Any update on potential 90k CSR offer? 🏀
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 thanks always great content
Im running a Freedom, Preferred. I’m thinking of downgrading the Preferred to the Freedom Unlimited and then later apply for another Preferred to get a new sign in bonus. Is that possible?
1. Unlimited
2. Flex
3. Perffered
4. World of Hyatt
Ultimate set up!!!
🏀 currently I have Freedom and a CSP. I got the CSP with an 80K bonus, and got the freedom awhile back and was able to hit the full 5% back on $12000 worth of groceries during Covid 😉 overall I’m happy with it 🤷🏾♂️ I think the CSP could be between but I’m able to get outsized value so it’s a keeper (until I’m eligible for another Sapphire card) 😏
The Chase Ink primary CDW is only for business use. It's easy to get approved for a biz card but if you were asked to prove that a trip was bonafide business trip could you? If not don't rely on the Ink for primary CDW.
🏀Rn, I have the CSP, CIC, and CFU and I’ll be looking to add the CFF in the coming months!
🏀 But I like the Yu-Gi-Oh analogy in this video, lol.
🏀 to take advantage of the CSR 1.5x value, would it be better to transfer the points to the partners at 1:1 and then use the points to book flight/hotel on their app/portal?
Or would it be better to redeem the points in the Chase Portal?
It depends entirely on the value of the points you're transferring them to. Your mileage will vary. If it's worth more than 1.5 cpp to transfer then go ahead if not book through the portal for a guaranteed 1.5 cpp.
@@aaront936 good explantion
🏀 I was waiting for Wiggins to slide in after you cut KD out 😂
🏀🏀🏀, and magic
🤠 venture X is 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
🏀 had a question. Have a CSP and want to upgrade. Should I downgrade first and then apply for CSR or just upgrade my card. That way I can get the intro bonus
Upgrading doesn’t qualify for intro bounds, only new card counts.
my Chase hand that works for me: CFF, CIU, CIP, CIC, WOH.
Solid setup :)
🏀Currently running OG Freedom+CFU+CSR for UR points. Amex Plat.+Gold running on an alternate track for MR. I’m focused on aspirational travel, so while some of the transfer overlap is nice, I appreciate the additional flexibility with both sets. I’m pretty agnostic on which reward system is the best and focus on maximizing points earned by category.
Do you feel like it makes sense to have both ecosystems? I currently have UR points. I’m considering getting Amex, but don’t know if it’s worth having the CSR and Amex platinum.
For it to really be exodia or a royal flush you need 5 cards.... Drumroll.... Add in the world of Hyatt with the flex, unlimited, sapphire, ink Cash 😮exodia!!
🏀 Hey sebby, how does it work when upgrading the preferred to the reserve if it's been over 1 year? Do you pay the entire $550 annual fee or is it prorated based on when your card anniversary? When is the ideal time to upgrade your CSP to a CSR if you've had it for over a year?
You get charged the whole annual fee on the first month or so after making the product change. You pay for the annual fee up front and not at the end of the anniversary year.
You also generally wait a year because either chase doesn’t allow a product change within a year or doesn’t look great to do a product change or cancelling a card within a year.
🏀 Joker voice sounds eerily like Yoda’s voice…😂
He shoots he scores 🏀
I have the CFF, CFU, and Chase Ink Cash. I’m currently waiting for a boosted welcome bonus on the CSP so I’m just hoarding UR points for now. I also have 4 AMEX cards that earn MR points and I’m patiently waiting for my AMEX Business Checking account to deposit my 60,000 MR points into my account🏀
For Chase I have the Amazon Prime card, Freedom Flex and The Sapphire Preferred. Then Amex Gold and Blue once I get my 80,000 bonus points..
CFU, CFF, CIC, CSR, & CIP
I have 3 inks. But, I do not the CFF.
Hi Sebby! I'm sorry this is outside of the video, but I'm trying to 🏀 my shot in to coding. How would you go about learning if you were to start over? Thanks Sebby!
www.bloomtech.com/ (but I would read reviews; some people are fans while others are super critical of it)
Basketball: my chase setup is Amazon Prime, Marriott Bonvoy Boundless. CsP, and Freedom Flex. Player 2 has Freedom unlimited, csp and freedom flex.
The ink cards mentioned are business cards, correct?
Yes, the Ink cards are business cards.
🏀 I use a CSP/CFU and then a Marriott Bonvoy Boundless and the World of Hyatt. I have great coverage on hotels and then I’m just a free agent on airlines for now. Seems to work well so far.
Do you use points to book your airfare or do you spend on airfare to get the better redemption rates on hotels?
@@EthanCowlbeck I’d say about half my trips are road trips, so I focus a lot more heavily on hotels. When we fly, I either pay cash, or can transfer points to Southwest if I have them.
love this but I'd say Jrue is a bit more than a catch all :)
🏀I have 2 of the 3 cards for the trifecta and plan to try and get the last leg by year end, I had been using various different competing cards previously to maximize each spend category rather than focusing on maximizing points in one system to potentially transfer out/maximize benefit
Wait…. no Chase Ink Premier in the Chase Royal Flush? Lol. I’m so confused by that card, you get UR Points but they really aren’t UR Points.
As a business, I think the Capital One Venture-X Business Card is very interesting with it’s crazy sign up bonus and 2x on everything. I’m currently playing with both the AmEx Business Gold & Biz Plat, the multipliers are frustrating me - I think that I’m getting 1.5 or 4x and I’m ending up with only 1x on charges. The C1 with 2x across the board interests me.
🏀
🏀 I prefer the Capital One duo.
Venture X: Catch all card with 2% back
Savor One: 3% on groceries, dining, streaming services, and entertainment.
I might get the Chase card with rotating categories and just use that as a gas card.
I have cap one as well. Will only use chase UR for Hyatt.
That's one thing I wish CO had, better hotel partners. For airlines, CO and Chase are very similar, especially using the alliance system.
I have the CSR for the welcome bonus of 80k UR and used it on Hyatt. I really wish CO had more hotel partners. Hopefully they'll get more in the future.
⛷️ skis !!!!
The real setup is CIC and CSP/CSR. All you need is two cards for most value.
Chase Royle Flush does sound more appropriate and better then trifecta or quadfecta.
I am pretty sure my chase card lineup trumps all, but I will see what the video has got. =p
🎉
🏀I recently decided to downgrade my CSR because I heard it's possible to get the sapphire bonus 4 years after you already got it. Then I heard about the Venture X so that is going to be holding my tier 4 spot for now. I'm still debating if I want to get the CSR again or just get the CSP as I am most interested in transferring my points.
I thought it was 2 years.
🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀 we need you on my podcast when your in houston king sebby
currently running chase ink unlimited + ink cash + CSP. and i dislike the 5/24 rule. I waited 2 years to get back under 5/24 by getting business cards so i could eventually get into the chase ecosystem.
I have the CSR and I am looking for a good card for groceries. We spend lots of money there. Not sure which card to apply.
AmEx blue preferred 6% groceries 3 % gas $250 statement credit after 3 months
@@sharon268 Thanks
Man said, "Exodia". #Based
Next thing we know Sebby's favorite deck is Six Samurai.
Hey Sebby, can you clarify the 10% anniversary points for the CSP point that you made at 3:54? My understanding is that it is 10% of the points earned not an additional 0.1 points as you said. So the 5X would be 5.5X, 3X is 3.3X, and 2X is 2.2X. I know you scour T&C so I may just have a misunderstanding.
10% of your total spend rewarded in points. So if you spend $10,000, you get 1000 UR. It is essentially an extra 0.1x back on your gross yearly spend.
(let me know if I'm misinterpreting something)
*Landing Page:* "Each account anniversary, you'll earn bonus points equal to 10% of your total purchases made the previous year. That means if you spend $25,000 on purchases, you'll get 2,500 bonus points.*"
*T&C:* "...10% of your total spend in points from purchases made with your credit card during the previous account anniversary year at a rate of 1 point for each $1 spent."
For example, let's say you spend $5,000 on Chase Travel Portal.
Multiplier = $5,000 * 5X = 25,000 UR
Anniversary points = $5,000 * 10% at 1X = 500 UR
Total = 25,500 UR
Expressed another way: $5,000 * 5.1X = 25,500 UR
Full transparency, the legalese is still confusing to me so I just looked at my CSP. In just in my current cardmember year (starting December '22) I have earned 352 anniversary points. However, my spend since then (including charges on my current statement that will not add to the 352) is only $2,318.62, equating ~232 anniversary points not the 352 it says I am currently earning.
The legalese is still confusing to me but the math seems to not work out for the 0.1X additional not being the answer. Still sufficiently confused though.
🏀 I'm glad I got the CFF, CFU, & CSP before I reached 5/24 but still wish I would have optimized more for it. I'd like to get and IHG card but I had already opened two other new cards before finding out about 5/24.
IHG holder for 3 years here. Maybe other than intercontiental, they suck so bad
@@kevinManhattan IHG holder here as well and Kimpton hotels are my jam.
@rm brooklyn only go there bc pets are free. Not all kimptons will be your jam if you've been to the ones in west coast. Gross.
🏀🏀
🏀 funny you mentioned loungeless portland! I've been debating upgrading my Perferred to Reserve since the Venture X took away restaurants... does Reserve cover you and a guest?
🏀🏀🏀
