    When you want to go into a certain stance like ambush or encamp and can't do it even though you have enough movement is due to a attached campaign movement speed increasing hero. You can remove the hero from the army encamp and then add them back in.

    Another tip correlated to moving on the map is disembarking in a territory in which player hasn't a port. The game doesn't tell you that your lord borrows steps from his next turn to disembark, and you could have only 50% of your movement range the turn after. The way to counter this is to change the stance of your disembarked lord to forced march if there aren't enemy armies nearby, so the extra steps are taken from your current turn instead of the next.

    I didn't learn for like two years that armor reduces damage with a dice roll, rolling a number between your armor value and half that. So, for example, if you have 100 armor, it will reduce non-armor piercing damage by a percentage between 50 and 100%.

    • @BigBoneBusiness
      @BigBoneBusiness 2 роки тому +1

      I don't remember if it's still the case, they did a knockdown rework a while back, but your armor value used to ALSO determine how long characters stayed on the ground if they got knocked over by cavalry or monsters or whatever. More armor=longer knockdown, which was part of the reason that characters like Grimgor would stay on their ass for SEVERAL seconds before getting back up (and usually getting knocked right back over).

    Here's a fun one: If there's no good targets for your ranged units, you should try to save your ammo instead. That's because ammo counts towards your balance of power and using up your ammo reserves is like losing units. This only comes into effect when you go below 50% of the ammo reserves on a unit tho.
    So, once you hit that point, unless there are good targets (such as large monsters or expensive cavalry) you kind of want to stop shooting.

  • @DesevPostMortem
    @DesevPostMortem 2 роки тому +6

    An other early campaign tip : From the get go, recruit a second Lord.
    It may add an additionnal supply line cost early on but since his army will remain empty for a long time it'll be more than bearable, plus an extra lord is a powerful unit to have early on and he grants what your main legendary lord lacks (magic, replenishement, ambush stance,...)
    Plus this one will gain lvl up which will makes your second army stronger when you'll start giving him some units
    And of course he'll be the one to colonize ruins instead of your legendary lord since it costs half your whole army health and all your movements points (or even recruit a new trash new lord for this purpose)
    And when attacking a settlement, your main army will sack, and your lone second hero will occupy, thus your main army will conserve his remaining move points.

    • @cressdrg9562
      @cressdrg9562 2 роки тому +5

      Hmm... not so sure about this. Considering that 1 extra unit will cost like 1k gold a turn (i.e. more than you can afford in the early game), almost certainly not worth it unless on a temporary basis (you want to pick up a close ruin for example). There is of course exceptions like baiting into ambushes, but seems like fairly nuanced advice as opposed to a game-wide advice.

    • @DesevPostMortem

    Punching Bag Strategy
    1. Declare war on a neighboring faction (preferably one that is minor)
    2. Steamroll and reduce them to only one settlement (preferably a minor settlement)
    3. Repeatedly subject the settlement to siege assaults and victory sackings (WITHOUT occupation or razing)
    4. Recover your casualties by encamping or going back to friendly territory
    Doing this on every turn will provide your Lords and Heroes with a lot of XP in a short amount of time since a Decisive Victory will always give a set amount of experience to every Lord and Hero that was present after every battle. And if a rebellion occurs as a result of your constant sacking, it's considered another opportunity to gain even more experience. One more bonus is that when playing as Skaven, successful use of this strategy will also provide a steady source of food, making it handy for getting out of starvation and maxing out a settlement upon capture.

    Ambush stand is very useful.
    - Use it to bait enemy army to attack your weaker army while your main stronger army ambushing nearby in the reinforcement cycle of your weaker army.
    - Good way to hide during whatever bad situation you're in.
    - Bait enemy army to attack your settlements while ambushing nearby, in case the enemy army refuse to attack because you're nearby.

    When I first started playing (on easy/easy) I didn't use the ambush stance either because I got detected so much and thought it was worthless. I also thought vortex spells were useless because why would I risk the very high chance of hitting my own units with it? I never thought of having a wizard run ahead of my army to cast them.. Also in sieges, I didn't know you could destroy the towers for ages. Now, after 6500 hours I'm missile dodging and corner camping my way to victory and I love it.

    I'll throw in my own tip: the AI always sees you. *Unless* you go into ambush stance. The AI does not have fog of war and acts accordingly. So when you March away from one border the AI attacks even if they shouldn't know... So never plan based on fog of war. And abuse ambush stance because they completely forget you exist (armies that are running away will come back to attack if you go into ambush).

    I am late to the party on this, but the scheme of sending a lone lord in force march with a larger army in ambush stance also works for sieges of settlements with powerful garrisons. Siege the settlement with a single lord and leave your army in ambush stance. Not sure if having an additional lone lord in force march would help (literally just thought of it).
    If you are too close to the city you cannot go into ambush. But there is a sweet spot that is far enough from the city, and is within reinforcement range. Just be careful not to drop your movement points too much looking for it.

    3 things I learnt randomly and made a diff for me (except the 3rd one, that one is just interesting :) ) while playing: when you hold down right mouse button and don't let go, you can see how much of movement bar your Lord will have after moving which is really good if you play around 25% remaining bar for ambush (and tbh I find ambush so insanely useful that I was super surprised that the achievement on Steam for winning Ambush battles is actually rare, i mean come on ppl why dont you use it? - its really good :D).
    Second is that if you get your heroes (and lords prob as well, but not sure right now) on a mount, the upkeep changes. I was stacking heroes in my main army when playing lizards and I suddenly got into -1000+ gold per turn without understanding why and spent decent time figuring out wtf happened in last turn that make my income lower by so much (nothing of course, but the expends got higher :) ) - those dinosaur mounts eats like crazy I guess.
    Third one is kind of useless but interesting. When your Vampire hero dies, there is a chance she gets respawned as Banshee :). But of course you really prefer Vampire hero, so don!t suicide them - unless you play Vlad and you have access to recruitment for Vampire earlier than Banshees, because Banshee spawn even when you cant recruit it yet (you still have limit 0/1 for them, and maybe this way you can even exceed the limit, but I am not sure since I did not try to abuse this xD).

  • @Tucher97
    @Tucher97 2 роки тому +3

    Correction, campaign difficulty only affects you as the AI has infinite money. So play on Easy if you want a semi comfortable time as the AI will cheat and the dwarves will eventually come after you.
    Also here is a fun yet probably not as obvious fact, if you are playing skaven, the skavenslave slingers are just regular skaven slaves so disable their skirmish and treat them as regular skaven slaves.
    Same to skinks with javelins.

    Magic tip : When you cast a spell and you interrupt the casting by using an item or an ability, you'll still gain the bonus effect from casting.
    Especially good for Vampire lore since the bonus effect is a little Health/Resurrection overtime for nearby allies, did replenish at the end of the battle my full armies while my doggos were chasing the remnants enemie units far for the borders.
    It's also good for Death and Beast lore since it's increase the recharge rate, interrupting a spell with an arcane conduit gives better result.
    Now, i suggest you to try Vampire counts, recruit a Necrarch bloodline lord and admire the unlimitless powers he releases :)
