Thanks for the video. I decided to order the MaxiPRO MP900-TS. I hope it doesn't fail me. I need to scan a Buick w no codes and crank but no start situation. I'm at a loss to what the problem is. I replaced intake manifold, turbo bypass tube and install new valve cover gasket. It started once and died in a few seconds abd never started again. Fuel pressure checked ok. Other than that, i'm completely clueless. I'm not a professional and only work on my car and families
Great review of the tool Glenn! I purchased the MS906BT back in May 2019. I've used the tool on my 2004 BMW 325ci (E46), 05 Porsche Boxster S (987), 2008 BMW 528xi (E60) & 2014 Volvo XC60. I've also used it on my daughter's 2015 Hyundai Accent and my son's 2015 Ford Fusion SE. The tool has been flawless with every car and has all the functionality a home mechanic could want or need! It does have the ability to code in some of the factory disabled features of the BMW's. I'm in the market for a used Porsche Panamera which requires that the PDK transmission service be performed every 60k miles. As part of this service a calibration of the PDK must be performed. The dealer charges about $1,200 for the transmission service with calibration. I did some research and found that my MS906BT has the calibration service under the "Porsche-> Diagnosis-> Transmission Module -> Special Functions". The cost of the service kit from ECS is $249. If I purchase the Panamera and perform this one service, the tool all but pays for itself...just with one service!! That's just one example. Mine has more than paid for itself with all the services I have performed on my vehicles. It is a phenomenal tool and has worked flawlessly since the day I got it. If your on the fence about the purchase of a good scan tool and you think they cost too much, do like I did and look at the jobs you CAN'T do at home and how much a shop would charge you for programming, calibrating or relearning procedures. A tool like the MS906BT is almost a must have for us home mechanics working on late model cars with all their modules.
ALWAYS Back up your "Scan" folder (first day after all updates...then as you feel the need to. Then, definitely back up right before that year of free updates expires.) to external SD Card via ES File Explorer, which is installed on tablet.
Hi handsome. Great channel and thanks for showing us your receipt. Thanks. Tell us what have you done with your tool and have you repaired the code and vehicle? Thanks.
Anyone thinking about this one - I've been watching amazon for the past week because of the $255 off the $1269 price. Just couldn't pull the trigger so I was leaning toward the MP808K at 20% off. Anyway, yesterday I pulled up the 906BT page and it said "lightning deal" and the price was reduced to $1078 and still with the coupon for $255 off. So I bought it for a total of $880 with tax included. You also get the 5% back on your amazon store card so that's another $40 which brings the total down to $840. I don't know what triggers the lightning deal. Maybe it's just visiting the page several times a day and some algorithm brings it up. And don't know if it's one particular seller - mine was from Autel Choice - but I doubt it cause they all seem to control the price pretty well and all from China. Anyway, looking forward to mine. However, not looking forward to explaining to the wife.
Love the vid - thank you! Question: I can get the MS906 (requires cable connection) for $779 from JB tools or the MS906 BT for $1179. For the $400 difference as as part time one man shop- I think the MS906 is a better deal - Do you agree?
You forgot to mention(maybe you mentioned it, I didnt watch the whole video) that the scanner has an alert and it bips when you finished the diagnostic for you to remember that the BT connector is still in the car😅
Hey On your Scanner I use Industrial Velcro from Home Depot for the dong I just attach to the back so I don't loose the dumb thing. Great VIDEO by the way!! Thanks
Excellent, well made video. I learned a great deal here, and I am still learning as I lean more and more toward the MS906BT. One thing I would add is that if someone chooses to go with the MS906 instead of the MS906BT, there is another very important difference I discovered other than the wireless Bluetooth connectivity. The MS906 does not support ECU coding at all, whereas the MS906BT supports the same level of coding as its bigger brothers in the Maxisys lineup. (Note: don't confuse coding with programming). To me that is a very important difference in functionality. To me, the ability to perform coding plus the wireless BT capability makes the decision between the 906 and the 906BT for around a $200 price difference a slam-dunk no-brainer.
i want to buy this tool or mp808ts ?what is the diference in car or activations or programming ecus?is same car coverege models and ecus or les the mp808ts model?thanks
You may want to watch this video if you have not seen it yet.ua-cam.com/video/9rCj2WDfooI/v-deo.html The MS906BT is a good tool. It can code but can't program.
Wise words, Glen. I never found a scan tool I don't hate, but the Autel I'm using now, the 906 BT, is the best so far. Dramatically better than the pro version of Autoenginuity. Expensive for a DIY, and only those who spend a lot of time in the shop will find a high level scan tool worthwhile. I knew about the $400/y Autel subscription fee, and the fact the battery is not technically replaceable. I've seen complaints online from guys who didn't renew the subscription, not sure what to make of that. I've had to type in the VIN for most of the vehicles I've worked on so far, which is a little annoying. Also the online forum is poorly attended so there's not much help there. Bidirectional control is much better than other versions, but this Autel version is not as good as more advanced models for programming. I find that to do quick jobs like erasing codes, a smaller scan tool is faster. For an entry level scan tool, people should get live data, but this level of bidirectional control is expensive and not necessary for most home mechanics.
I have experienced scan tools that have lied. Without having a back up would have put me right down the rabbit hole! So far I like this tool a lot. I fact it saved my ass on an '18 GM. Did some recalibration type work I thought I would need a GDS2 for. That alone put a smile on my face. Thanks for your comment.
You don't have to pay for subscription unless you want the latest vehicle updates. You can wait 5 years then update it once and when you do you get a full year.

Great video sir, I currently own the mk808bt which is a cheaper model and it can also do a lot for the price. I am fairly new to using professional scanners and still have a lot to learn from them. I am actually thinking about to step it up a little bit and maybe get this one, but I am not too excited about the pricy upgrade, after the one year for free. Lol
my biggest complaint with the 808 is that in wireless mode the live data speed is significantly degraded. it makes live data in wireless mode barely usable, and live data is pretty much the main thing you'd want to use wireless mode with anyway. so i'd only barely even consider it a wireless tool
Thank you for posting this video. You covered much of what I wanted to know. Too bad OBD isn't covered. I also have an Actron/Bosch scanner, so that'll have to do for now. I've seen someone attach a rope to the dongle and clip it to the vehicle keys so as not to leave it behind. I'm interested in all the features you find in this unit. Please keep it up.

I was a assistant instructor at a small college teaching auto tech. When I got there they had a Snap on unit. It started to do wacky things and freeze. It was windows based and would freeze. We looked into a bunch of units and ended up before I relocated with 2 of the Autel units. Being andriod based made it easy for students to understand as it is much like your phone.
Looking for a good scanner for my 2011 Jeep wrangler sport s . I need something that will activate the abs , or be able to do an auto bleed . I wonder if the 808 would work ?

Hello, do you happen to know if there is a difference în the acess to live data and bidirectional control between MK808BT and MS906BT, like the one you have here?
I didn't get thru the whole video yet but is this considered lo/mid/hi end, and does this do anything a Tech 2 does? I don't work on cars much anymore so affordability is of "utmost importance" to me, just something to use on my own single 2004 GM vehicle in case I need to reprogram a stereo VIN, or transmission shift points or things like that. Thanks for any help.
Do you know if the MS906BT can program new modules for GM cars for things like new HVAC controller or new headlight switch? I have this scanner and used it to program a new headlight switch for a jaguar, but I can't get any programming icon to come up anywhere for my GM car.
The 906BT can only code and will not program any module. You would need a 908SP at minimum that comes with a J2534 box, windows OS laptop and a subscription to acdelcotds in order to program a GM module.
@@ozzstars_cars Okay, so can I code a new part to GM cars? How? With the Jag, a programming icon comes up after I go to Diagnostics, but only 2 choices come up for GM, which are automatic or manual
When I got ready to pull the trigger on a advanced scan tool I asked Eric what was best for the money. It was this very scanner. I've had a great time using it and haven't been disappointed. It is over a year old and I need an update, but for what I do I can use it without the update for now. I've not tried the printer option but I need to get that completed. I'm still learning things about this tool so I hung around for the entire video to see what I might have missed. See, I didn't know about the separate SD card option, cool. I liked your elevator music. Great video my friend.
Thanks Wyatt. So far so good with this scanner. Just bummed that I have an OBD1 adapter with it and it's useless. It has rescued my ass on an '18 GM car, video to come out soon.
If I swop the TCM on my 2011 Benz E350 transmission, can you program it to work with this scanner? Is it difficult? Are there detailed transmission diagnosis for the transmission?
Very good job with the video. Very informative and detailed. We are currently pursuing a scan tool like this and I think this might be the one we purchase. Thanks again
You definitely are helping me select a bi-directional scanner. I have a 2005 C6 Corvette. I removed the LS2 with all that makes it function because It is now a a battery electric vehicle. However I want to maintain the usable functions of the C6 body control module. I am not in the business so I only need a bidirectional scanner for this vehicle. Any suggestion on a scanner where I can have a custom flash of this body control module?
You will need a J2534 box which the 906 does not support. The box is necessary to do a pass through to do any programming or reflash. I will be shooting a video soon on the MS908S Pro which has a J2534 but I have not yet tried to see if it will program a GM product.
Great video u don't get to many people that will help like that and I need to understand them better. My question l think I already know does this unit have troubleshooting section like Snap on units. Thanks
Hey Glen or other knowledgeable person. I have a Buick Encore thats been a pain in my backside for the last 2 weeks. I am doing some pro bono work for Stage 4 renal carcinoma sufferer that really needs her car to get to her appointments. Exhaust manifold, a Turbo bypass, and replaced the valve cover gasket. I have a crank but no start situation. Can a scan tool like this? Read your sensors for your fuel pressure even though the engine's not running. Thanks for any helping advance. I really need to get the car on the road for this lady. If I don't resolve this in a week. I may have to pay a mobile mechanic to come look at it
I only have two cars, and I don't repair cars for others. I bought an Autel MS309 @ Amazon for 20 bucks....and it does what I need it to do. Good video by you!
same as 908S but smaller screen and battery. that's it. has EcU coding but not programming and no TPMS transmitter like TS line....just use a velcro for dongle
Great job Glen with the explanation and a demonstration of seeing the data when hooked up to a car. And you're right that having a scanner that's bidirectional is the way to go if folks can afford that capability. Ah, I see that you changed your channel name and I'm sure you'll get more car enthusiasts when they do a search. Keep up the good work and have a SUPER GREAT weekend!

Same as mine, aside from the lack of the tire sensor tool. You got a WAY better price than I did, though! Mine was $1,600 back in '16. That stung a little ...😬
Does purchasing from Amazon effect the warranty? I heard that Amazon was not an authorized distributer of Autel which I am confused since Amazon has so much to choose from of Autel. Does the unit lock up if you fail to update it?
The link above in the comment section and description is Autel, USA. Subscription and warranty included. Scanner will work after the subscription runs out.
Thanks for the great video! I just purchased a much less expensive scan tool and found your evaluation of the one you have to be fascinating. Mine will be used for only a couple of vehicles as I'm a DIYer, but it's amazing what a better one like yours is capable of.
Great review tanks for posting! I am looking for something beyond the $30 one way tool for something that gives bidirectional control and with more detail, while not wanting to drop $10k on a Snap-On full up system. This looks like it might fit the bill for me. The price is about right - if it saves me from going to the dealer even a few times it paid for itself. One question I have is does this thing by any chance have the wiring diagrams for the vehicles?
No it doesn't have built in wiring diagrams. You can access the internet feature and join sites like alldata or Mitchell for wiring diagrams, or look it up on Google.
Very descriptive demonstration. I like the printer feature as well with Bluetooth techno. With added virtual analytics to actually see what takes place is a plus. Appreciate the time. Hope you and family stay safe during the Pandemic.
Great videos sorry for being late but I'm wanting to upgrade my autel and the only reason I use my scanner for is a manually regen that's it,but I never new about bidirectional because now I'm having fan issues,I have a ford superduty 2013 f-450 cab/chassis 6.7 diesel all I need to find out is if the MS906BT has option to manual rrgen ?

Exactly! We've all been there.
Hello, do you happen to know if there is a difference în the acess to live data and bidirectional control between MK808BT and MS906BT, like the one you have here?
No sorry I don't.
Can it scan Diesel engines?
It can, depends on the vehicle and model year.
The 906BT can only code and can not be used to program. Check out the MS908SP video I posted, link is in the description.
I have snapon it's more expensive and less useful than this but more practical for me... I had a smy908 but touch function stopped working
I have never heard of an SMY908 model.
This scan tool does not program modules.
Very good job with the video. Very informative and detailed. We are currently pursuing a scan tool like this and I think this might be the one we purchase. Thanks again
The tool is an excellent choice Corey. Link in the description above.
You are a fine Gentleman, rare to find these days, I really enjoyed your mentorship for my AUTEL MaxiSys MS906BT!!
Thank you
You're welcome.
Does it program keys
Nope
This is one of the best reviews of this scanner, very helpfull ,honest ,straight to the point. Great work.
I appreciate your comment David and thank you.
Thanks for the information, very interesting
You're welcome Hugh
Great video u don't get to many people that will help like that and I need to understand them better. My question l think I already know does this unit have troubleshooting section like Snap on units. Thanks
Not on this model. Only wifi to look up information via the internet or a paid service like Alldata or Mitchell
Obd1 to obd2 dongle is worthless not sure why it was even Included my Elite also came with the adapter
Those are actually OBD2 adapters that are meant to fit various models from 1996 on that did not have the 16pin connectors.
I may have to pay a mobile mechanic to come look at it
What year is the car, what size engine? Did it start before you did any work to it?
Thanks buddy, I'm buying one and you really help me!
Will it track live data of number of misfires and which cylinder they are coming from?
Also, will it do throttle and other re-learns?
Yes it can depending on the year and make of the car.
I only have two cars, and I don't repair cars for others. I bought an Autel MS309 @ Amazon for 20 bucks....and it does what I need it to do. Good video by you!
Right on
I want to reset mine I want to clear it and start it over again yeah yeah 🤗
same as 908S but smaller screen and battery. that's it. has EcU coding but not programming and no TPMS transmitter like TS line....just use a velcro for dongle
You got that right!
Thanks Terry, I appreciate all your support. 👍
Great video Glen
una pregunta con este sccaner puedo programar bcm para bmw 2010 o tambien llaves de carro gracias o que tipo de sccaner me recomienda que tenga para programar bcm y llaves de carro
thanks buddy, perfect review.
Glad you liked it!
Same as mine, aside from the lack of the tire sensor tool. You got a WAY better price than I did, though! Mine was $1,600 back in '16. That stung a little ...😬
It's a good tool for the money.
Ozzstar's Cars - Oh yeah, no doubt about it. One of the best purchases I’ve ever made for the shop. 👍
Thanks for the descriptive demo. I'm sold.
I think you will like the tool. Good value for the money. Thanks for stopping by the channel.
Thank you so much for your information I am really appreciate it
You are welcome Amir.
Hi its been a year now would you still by this model ??
Thanks, Great review! Going through the struggle now!
Struggle no more.
R u related to triple-h bro, thnx for video btw 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
lol Nope but I've heard that before. Who is Triple H? I need to Google it. You're welcome Salem, thanks for stopping by.👍
Thanx for video, man, were did you buy the scanner from if not secret?
Email me ozzstar@aol.com
Can I use that Autel to program (add) a key on a 2020 Honda?
Not from this model scan tool. The IM508 and IM608 should.
Thanks for going to the trouble of doing all this. good review
Thank you, glad the vid was helpful.
I have questions were would be a good place to buy this scanners i looking to buy it from amozon
Link in the description and pinned above in the comments.
Straight from manufacture
Hello, i bought recent an mk906bt and i want to ask you if on live data why i dont have range on the table like you have on ms906.
Not sure to be honest. Contact Autel.
Thanks for the great video! I just purchased a much less expensive scan tool and found your evaluation of the one you have to be fascinating. Mine will be used for only a couple of vehicles as I'm a DIYer, but it's amazing what a better one like yours is capable of.
Yes as technology increases so does the equipment. Even a simple scan tool can be very helpful to diagnose an issue. Thanks for the comment Ken.
Great video 🤘 very helpful.
Thanks, glad it was helpful.
Thanks
Autel has the best storage cases for scan tools I have ever bought used they are just amazing
Mine is big! Haha
Hay mate can please review xtool d8?
Can You Download Apps Like YourMechanic or UA-cam?
Not on the Autel. It is suggested that no other apps be downloaded.
What is the big major difference between 906bt and 908 pro
908SP can be used for programming because it has a J2534 box and a larger screen.
Thinking of getting this but i dont know if it does crank sensor relearn. Help
Yes it does depending on what vehicle. Works decent with GM cars.
Awesome thank you for the help i have a chevy colorado. Getting one right now.
Very informative, thank you for sharing. I will be ordering one!
It's a very good tool. Thank you for your comment.
wonder if there is a software you can buy for scanning to save as you have a laptop already?
There are lots of factory software scan programs that require a laptop. It would cost a big fortune to own them all.
@@ozzstars_cars thanks I just found one called Forscan for fords will try it out
Does it program keys and tpms sensors if I get that add on
Depends on the vehicle.
Do you know what the difference is between this and the pro version
I sure do. Watch this video I posted ua-cam.com/video/9rCj2WDfooI/v-deo.html
