What the personalities actually do (their differences and similarities); First, all of them begin as non-hostile. They will not attack you unless you meet certain criteria based on their personality. All of them will attack hostile mobs such as raiders, feral ghouls...etc on sight, besides maybe the Medic who will only attack if attacked (but some people say it also attacks hostiles on sight). All of them will attack you if you take hostile action against them by either hitting them or pick-pocketing them. Default: Wanders around saying the basic Protectron junk we've all come to expect. Will not attack you unless you attack it or take any other hostile action towards it (pickpocket). Subway Steward: This personality is THE WORST! It walks around asking for a subway token. You only have a few seconds at most to use the talk/activate button with a token in your inventory before it starts blasting you. If you have no token on you KILL IT FAST. Even after giving it the token it will still attack you if you hit it or pickpocket it. Law Enforcement: Walks around saying police type phrases. Will attack you if you attack ANY ENTITY within sight of it, including things it is fighting. Apparently pre-war America was not a place to be a vigilante. Fire Brigade: Walks around telling you to stay calm or move along. Will attack you if you use any fire producing weapons within sight of it. Use a Flamer or a Molotov and it will go nuts. Medical Responder: Walks around telling you to stay calm and comments when you get hurt. Does not heal you, so don't bother waiting for it to. The most passive mode. Will only attack you if you attack it or pickpocket it. May or may not attack hostile mobs on sight, reports vary. Construction Worker: Walks around saying construction related stuff about union breaks and hardhats. Generally passive to the player, but some people have reported being attacked if they weren't wearing a hardhat. My personal experience is just that they pester you about it if you don't have one on, but don't become hostile. Take care with this version as reports vary.
***** I'll have to test dropping a token next time I run into/activate one. The only model to ever one hit me though was the construction worker model, I think it uses a railway rifle type weapon. It was also the second Protectron I ever found. I pretty much always just set them all to Medic or basic Protectron though, they're just safer in general to be around than most other modes. Unless it's the fire fighter model. Then I go ahead and use its regular fire fighter personality because I want to see it use the cryo weapon, still never have seen it go off though.
Uttilit Protectron - adives worker to were they hard head, and monitoring day without accident Medical responder - Assist injuret pupils Fire Brigadist - if you have equip molotov coctail he warn you about posibel fire hazard. Police protrectron-
+mazack00 Just have to use the action button on the protection immediately after it asks for for the token. You only have a couple seconds to get it done before it attacks. Basically the subway steward is the worst of all personalities, because it's such a close call to give it the token.
mazack00 Depends what platform you're using and your key bindings. But yes, E is generally the default for it on PC. Talking to it, with a token in your inventory, is what you have to do to give it the token.
I'm the co-worker of General Atomics, please show your ID, or the protectrons we gave you will rebel on you. Repeat, will you comply? [Will you comply?] [Yes] [No] [Sarcastic]
+Metal Bender Just head South West of Vault 111, you should find it. it is a Truck Yard, Also there is a key there so you can open alot of trailers with cool loot in. through out the world
This robot has saved my ass so many times throughout missions, for instance I had no ammo and there was raiders everywhere and I unlocked its terminal and it destroyed them all :D
So are they always friendly if you activate them? I'd assume that the Subway station one will attack you if you don't have the Subway token? Or if you have your gun out, maybe the Police one will attack you? Not really seen any major differences yet
+Stefan Wislawski As far as I, and the wiki, can tell, the robot helps you regardless of personality, unless they're the subway one, in which case they'll ask for your subway token and then attack regardless of whether you actually have it or not. In short, never set it to subway.
I.ve been looking everywhere for it I folode your edvis nbut I can not find it. I pretty much end up at the end of the map! Can you give me a photo of you haveing your PIP-BOY up on your map and show me where the truck yard is on here. Please?!?!!!!?
+charles fair You can make the scout robot thing your companion, the one that appears in the junk yard northeast of sanctuary that you can have clear out military bases. Using the level 8 intelligence perk, it's possible that you might be able to do the same with a protectron; not sure.
You can make any robot a companion with the robot hack perk, they will follow and protect you but their path finding and AI is a bit off compared to standard companions.. so you can have Mr codsworth and say a Mr gutsy ect.. only non "currently" hostile bots can be hacked.. tho if u sneak up on a enemy who is still classed as non hostile it may still work.
If Preston was ur companion then he would hack the protectron to say: at least it's not raining, and: another settlement needs your help. I'll mark it on your map.

Not even enough time to fish a token out of your pocket in real life. It's really just terrible.
***** As in you dropped the token on the ground?
***** I'll have to test dropping a token next time I run into/activate one.

Police protrectron-
I think the police protectrons will attack you just for having a weapon out
Protect-AND-serve.
+Captain Oblivious Delinquent behavior confirmed. Violator will be removed.
+Captain Oblivious Bless our protectrons, the true saviours of the Commonwealth.
Please, remain calm if you are injured.
Warning, interfering with a law enforcement robot is a felony
Hardhats are required while within a worksite. Please, wear your hardhat.
I can never get the damn subway attendant to take my token.
+mazack00 Just have to use the action button on the protection immediately after it asks for for the token. You only have a couple seconds to get it done before it attacks.
Basically the subway steward is the worst of all personalities, because it's such a close call to give it the token.
+Empmortakaten have you done it before?
Empmortakaten Action button? You mean E? It just says "talk"
Cosmic Twix
No I haven't, because I never, ever, use the Attendant personality option. It's just not a good choice.
Have seen it done though.

Crazy ass robot
3:26 protectron schizophrenia.
word of advice: NEVER go to a subway station in the fallout universe
Haha
or a metro ticket
Tickeeets,please tiiiiiickettttts
Or just use a mini nuke on all subway protectrons
KWC04 Waste of good ammo
Fallout 3 Protectron: Move along... Please...
Great video peron
Doesn't the construction one say 'thank you' if you put on a hard hat?
Yes it thanks and notes you

@@mojojobo4180Will you comply (I am utterly deranged but somehow this method is effective against literal military grade robots)
Were did you find it?!? I.v been looking everywere for it!

Cosmic Twix Thanks!
+Metal Bender Wicked Shipping Fleet?
+Boner Priest Yeah, that's the place.
@@Cosmic-CS more specific pls
i need a mod that lets you put a Protectron charge pod and Protectron in that pid, tgen are able to activate it with a terminal.
There is one, but I can't really get it to work. There's only a pod without terminal connection, and my protectrons tell me they can't use it.
You have to spam a on the robot to give the token.
Where are it's PHOTOSENSORS? HOW DOES IT SEE?!?!? IT, HAS, NO, EEEEYYESS!!!! :O :O :O O : O : O
+colly407 There are other methods of "sight" besides visible light. That model could be using a LIDAR or echolocation for all we know.
what is the purpose of this robot?
useless or what?
This robot has saved my ass so many times throughout missions, for instance I had no ammo and there was raiders everywhere and I unlocked its terminal and it destroyed them all :D
I killed it and got six steel and a military grade circuit board.
Nice :D
+Cosmic Twix but i only can activate it and choose it's personnality, no way to control it...
You cannot control it, but it is usually placed conveniently in missions so you can activate it and it will clear the area for you :)
I got protectron in a warehouse and hacked it lol.
So are they always friendly if you activate them? I'd assume that the Subway station one will attack you if you don't have the Subway token? Or if you have your gun out, maybe the Police one will attack you? Not really seen any major differences yet

TheBlueSquid The subway won’t attack you if you give it one, but you only have a short amount of time to do it
So which personality wipes out the gouls and Raiders?
Law enforcement.
You should pick default lol.
+Lawless
I prefer law enforcement. It also patrols the area.
+Smokedlol yea i think default will wipe them out but if u attack anything it gets u too.... I think
+adventureoflinkmk2 when you activate the protectron in fort hagen it starts attacking you
I"m the 200 like !

There are multiple places where there are programmable protectrons. They're rather easy to find.
any way to make it your companion
+charles fair i do not believe so. but you can command it within an area with the upgraded robotics perk
+charles fair You can make the scout robot thing your companion, the one that appears in the junk yard northeast of sanctuary that you can have clear out military bases. Using the level 8 intelligence perk, it's possible that you might be able to do the same with a protectron; not sure.

Robotics expert perk level 3 or the Automatron DLC
Where do u find it?
uh? that looks nothing like a protectron
It’s designed for construction
Bro he one shotted you
If Preston was ur companion then he would hack the protectron to say: at least it's not raining, and: another settlement needs your help. I'll mark it on your map.
What?
they're pretty adorable ngl
