I can't tell you enough how much I have enjoyed your channel. I've tried getting into hobby crafting over the past few years but never felt I had the skills to tackle some of the projects that I had always wanted to try. I've been watching your videos recently and been so inspired that I just made my mind up to get started and I'm so glad that I did. I've completed a ton of small projects and even took on a few big ones over the past few weeks and have made so many cool things that I'm super proud of. I think a big part of building up that confidence to try was watching you go through some of the same creative struggles and then seeing the incredible result in the end. That has really given me the confidence to just get out of my head and start making things. I really appreciate you my friend!
My dude, this rules! I spend so long making ridiculous maps digitally for my games but nothing approaches the charm of these physical pieces. Hats off to you man, really inspiring stuff.
As a certain Dungeon Fucker would say: You are a river to your people. Sharing knowledge, even if it might be quite simple/rudimentary to experienced crafters, is genuinely so fantastic and life-altering. Knowledge should flow as freely as water.
Those googly eye bases are begging to have one or two of the bumps replaced with the actual googly eyes again, with a little bit of paint scraped off so they can peak through - awesome result all round!❤🔥
I like the color scheme you chose. You have some vastly different styles in each experimental tile. The colors being consistent pulls them all together. It's really fun. Thank you for showing your unique set of dungeon tiles. It is so cool how differently everyone makes their own set.
I have also been on a huge hobby binge recently and finished my ogre mordheim warband and some terrain and buildings so you have impeccable timing with all these hobby videos 👌👌
I'm excited to play around with alginate. I dig the idea you've gotta use it fast and it won't produce a ton of molds, makes it a different kind of intentional!
I don’t know, I think YOU’RE the best… 😆 Those look so sweet!!! The colors suit the jungle feel perfectly, and I love the wear on them. The googly eyes one is definitely really cool, very natural-stone like! That’d be a neat concept to use to glue flocking in between, or resin for water crossings! If that’s a batch’s worth, I can totally envision ye doing a few evenings of designs to end up with crates full of dungeon tiles!!! Super cool!
My black cat alos lies about being fed. Love these videos man, SO inspiring. I've started working up a little warband and everything this past week because of them. Goal is to paint them fast and fun rather than obsess over the details.
Huzzah,, I always learn so much here. So thank you. I also enjoy that you give credit where credit is due. I've seen so many videos that rip off things that Jeremy from BMC has invented or innovated and NEVER give him his due. Especially the modge podge/ black paint foam sealer.
Yes attribution is good to see. But it might surprise you to find that people have been sealing foam with mod podge and/or paint for quite some time before BMC ever started ;)
@@googiegress every hobby technique has been done before, its only natural when you put enough creative people alone in a room for hours and hours with access to similar materials with similar problems to solve, the same discoveries are gonna happen. Not crediting that is a disservice imo
We love you ya big dork! Just went back in time to watch you show off the studio for the first time. Very magical. I’ve never messed with molding and casting except a tiny bit with silicone putty. I’m worried about mixing and pouring resins. I always thought you couldn’t use plaster of Paris for stuff like this, but I want to give it a try now.
Thanks for showing how you make this stuff. I watched some of your old videos and there wasn't enough detail there for me to follow along, but the recent ones have been awesome. I've got everything ready to spend this weekend pouring plaster into coles cookie boxes, and these tiles are next! Cheers :)
I really like how much character there is in these tiles. It's sort of bespoke mini-mass production and it's awesome. It's good to see how much fun you're having in these recent videos.
These are ace! When you're not using them as a dungeon they can add cool little details to you jungle board and buildings. I can imagine they'll fit really well with your textures made from food packaging!
getting a video upload from u is like meeting a stray cat, it makes ur day better ❤, love ur content man! please, as long as u enjoy it dont stop makin it!
Being made from plaster theyve got a very specific matte and textural appearance that gives them a lot of character. Love the paint job too. I feel like these will age and patina really cool
I've only done some casting with a HirstArts mold. I used dental plaster and stuck the pieces to a 1/8" plywood backing for durability. Mixing the plaster thick enough to make it hard to pour also seems to be important.
the googly eye one looks like the tops of mushrooms or like weird alien lily pads. Put something gloss down in there, make it a pit trap, something like that would be awesome
Heck yeah, never been this early to Miscast before. Can't wait to get more inspiration for things to create on top of the pile of shame that are all my projects

You are doing such a great job posting more regularly man. Keep it up. Question about plaster of paris stuff, how durable is it? Like, if i made these and yeeted them in a box would they break being transported to my flgs?
mixed correctly and fully dry, its fine, it'll probably scratch easily though. If they were going to get stored and travelled with id use something like dental stone
If I had the chance to make some fantasy scatter terrain, I'd like to make some castle ruins or dungeon tiles to look like they've become overgrown by this gross biomass that's basically like a fleshy moss of sorts (or meat moss as i like to call it). Basically if what happens if either the Necromorphs from Dead Space or the Flood from Halo were to run rampant across the lands of DnD
Woah that green you used around the 7th minute mark is so vibrant! What did you use for that? Also your cat and my cat mustve gone to theater school together..
I use lots of different greens and yellows but I sprayed everything with a gloss coat at the end (I forgot to mention) and it helped made everything pop
Can you add acrylic paint to the plaster? That would make the chips and scuffs a bit less noticeable. But im not sure if it would make the ppaster fail.
What are you using for moulds? What is it used for, so I can look it up in my country. And also, great video, it's nice seeing someone so enthusiastic about their hobby

Keep them coming. All those small videos really hit the spot.
If the olympics introduced dungeon tile making, Australia would def send Trent with googly eye tiles.
Ok, real comment: highlighting the tiles by scuffing them was absolutely genius

Love the steady stream of Miscast videos! They are always a treat
Thankyou!
i love it. looks so cool at the end!! and I love, that they seem heavy and unlikely to move while playing. niice
Looks approachable. Love it 🥰
Jeremy, from BMC, did something similar with his cast frostgrave tiles! Love the new ideas and great finished product!
I remember that series. Frostgrave is still great!
Well done on the colors man!!!
Great work, Trent! These are some really useful lessons you've been giving.
thanks J!

I've made some bigger tiles this way. I usually drop some fibre (or flyscreen) in the backside of the plaster to make them snap less often.
I've only done some casting with a HirstArts mold. I used dental plaster and stuck the pieces to a 1/8" plywood backing for durability. Mixing the plaster thick enough to make it hard to pour also seems to be important.
Me: “if only there was a way to cast and colour at the same time”
Trent: “I’m gonna spray the mold!”
Miscast upload right as I get ready to eat? tis a blessed day

While this video didn't cure me of my sinus infection, it did make me feel better, so thank you. In the meantime, I need to go get cold meds.
feel better!
Still planning on my outdoor table. Need to get the lumber cut up
I saw a guy (can’t remember who) that used caulk and used a textured roller soaked in soapy water and that worked a treat to make quick tiles/walls
Awesome video. I love those texture spray paints. I painted all my computer cases with that sort of paints because how boring the cases are.
the googly eye one looks like the tops of mushrooms or like weird alien lily pads. Put something gloss down in there, make it a pit trap, something like that would be awesome
Love the tiles, well done.
thankyou!!
Yesssss more Miscast!!

Try covering the alginate with wet paper towel and plastic sheet (cling wrap) …. That may give you a little more working time. 😊
It looks really good 🎉 fantastic job ❤

Thankyou!!
I love the content and the frenquency ❤
Thankyou!!
I really like the birds chirping in the background
Maybe try clearcoating the outside part of the molds to try to seal in more moisture and make the mold last longer?
I might try this!
I also wonder if keeping the molds on a wet palette might keep them moist for a little longer without adding enough moisture to decay them?
Your videos get me excited to hobby
Thats the best thing to hear
I want to try those googly eyes tiles and paint them like a bubbling or boiling fluid of some sort… tar, magma, hot spring, so much potential
great idea!
