this is a combination of craftsmanship, creativity and an eye for the grimdark aestehetics ... a rare combination. thats why many builds look kinda rubbish ( including mine 😂 ) but trents look so great
As someone who recently (yesterday actually lol) got diagnosed with Autism, your way of just going absolutory insane and just throwing stuff together and seeing if it will stick constantly brings me hope that I can actually do the things I want to. I dont have to do the same system that everyone uses, i can just let my mind go wild and actually still end up making something. You are my biggest admirations in the hobby scene, thank you so much for doing what your doing and just sharing your adventures along the way.
I find your complete and utterly disregard for the usual conventions and best practices in favour of result, impact and uniqueness very refreshing. I also get so caught up in the moment when building something and/or create art, that I forget to wear gloves or nearly set the house on fire. But this chaos adds so much to be believability of your pieces. That is just beautiful. Thank you!
I will never not love the atmosphere and community mordheim generated and continues to do so even today! (I'm keen to see how Tuomas' Trench Crusade compares to similar games like T28)
That fighting pit turned out absolutely glorious, Trent! An idea to continue the pit to add an extra element to its functionality could be to add a little betting bookie underneath that one corner of building that doesnt have rubble soup...like a little tent with a permanent figure ( I am thinking the weapon trader from Resident Evil 4 ) who will take bets from participants in the pit. When you and your buddies enter into a fight, each of you must wager something to the bookie, and if you win you get to keep what you wagered, get what your friend bet, and maybe after a certain number of victories, get a special something from the bookie himself.
Let me give you some big brotherly advice. I say that, because I'm at least 10 years your senior, maybe 15. You said you've, "never been to art school, and what you've got to say is probably rubbish". That's horseshit. You sir, are an artist. Not only do you have talent, you have worked hard on that talent and made it a skill. You're a craftsman. That's one of the reasons I delight in your channel. Thanks you. You inspire me to challenge myself. Art school is for Yoko Ono.
watching your videos reminds me of my product design studies when we were building mockups 5 a.m. in the morning throwing stuff together hoping the glue is dry until presentation and holding throught it. "if you cant hide it show it" and "if its not working the way you want make it a feature" were our philosophies. i like your energy and the offensive way you approach things.
I don't know if I’ve been watching you too much but every time my brain starts thinking of how to paint or make something or solve a problem you put out a video on exactly how to do it
That table is absolutely amazing, wow. I only recently got into terrain making and it's in large part thanks to you. Your free form, chaotic thinking is really similar to how my brain processes things, and then everything you make turns out amazing in the end and it tells me that I have to trust my own creative process like you trust yours. Ah mate, you inspire me. And a lot of other people too. I hope you know that.
I did go to art school and I can tell you with absolute certainty that you have a better understanding of paint, color, texture, and just overall artistry than most art students
Been off my crafting for about 2 years now, but seomthing in me decided to binge everything youve put out that I missed, and it finally got me painting again. Now, seeing this, I'm dying to craft some terrain as well. Thanks for always being such an inspiring figure!
I am SOOO glad to see this approach to building stuff. Bash n smash and join the weird and the wonderful and THERE, a pit! Thank you for sharing this with us all, it inspires!
Man your content always brightens my day. I love that you often just say fuck it, then go with the flow and always make something brilliant out of anything
I know probably the majority of folks don't notice your editing/cinematography consciously (though I do genuinely believe, as I am sure you do, that it makes a different subconsciously) but it doesn't go unnoticed or unappreciated. All the little details you put in such as well-used cuts both in volume/variety (when it elevates the presentation, never oversaturated), angles/camera positioning, audio adjustments, and more are all _chef's kiss_ The ticking toaster oven staying through subsequent shots was a very nice touch that you absolutely did not have to include. And "What's the strategy here?" smash cutting to you wailing foam against a table? Hit me with the same kind of laugh I get from my favourite comedy creators. You're doing amazing, mate, keep it up.
thank you!! It makes me really happy for someone to say they noticed the effort, I'm trying to get better with saying things with my edits as much as my voice and I'm stoked you caught the things you did.
@@Miscast I could list all the stuff I noticed but at a certain point it teeters to close towards "explaining the joke" territory for me personally. It is seriously shining through how much you are making videos as much as you are making tabletop materials, the two just happen to coincide.
"...it definitely is the greatest game ever..." - that's all that needs to be said. Some sweet looking fighting pits here! I'd love to work on a table for Mordheim soon, there are so many interesting things going on the options are endless...
Great Project as always! I do the same thing in regards to stone by under painting with natural earth tones (red, yellow, brown and green) that are heavily diluted it absolutely makes all the difference once you start washing and drybrushing. Super simple extra step that adds so much depth to a terrain piece!
You could have a custom scenario where one of the members of the warband is in the Pit, squaring off with 1 or more rivals, while the rest of the warband starts at the edge of the pit. A rescue mission.
@@Miscastthanks so much man! My 7 year old rolled the pit fighter thing with his Vampire Lord and almost lost the character but pulled it out and ended up winning more gold than I did in the actual scenario we played. It was awesome!!!

Looks absolutely amazing, the one thing I would add if I was to attempt it was a few broken pipes and one or two sealed sewer entrances. I hope you actually have a game of Mordy on the board or even use it in a WHFRP game with your friends.
Thank you for this regular reminder to throw away my inhibitions and make something. It means a lot. I don't even play Mordheim but using this idea for Warcry sounds fantastic.
Ya know I had come across some plastic sheets. " from a Big Screen TV" and I could not get ANYTHING to stick to it, So I heated it up in some small spots and and man it made it able to use supper glue to make items stick! I have NO idea what kind of plastic the bucket is made of But ya NEVER know! So I am Going to try one of my buckets and see if it works on it! GREAT BUILD! LOVE IT!!!
My experience with making things look like they were haphazardly constructed by ratmen is that making things that should be quadrilateral into triangles, and making the angles a bit too acute on everything, gives a very skaven-y vibe. The impractical shapes and angles give the ramshackle construction a kind of faintly ritual look, and help differentiate from orky construction. (Orky stuff is thrown together with a degree of indifference, Skaven stuff is built too quickly with obsessive attention to only the details that do not matter for its intended function)
Do you do your own editing? If so, you are nailing it. The shots, the transitions, and how it's all stitched together tells the story so well, plus it is unmistakably Miscast. You even make shaky handheld stuff look good :)
Look, sold to the pits is just a random die roll. But - actually capturing your opponent's fighters - or purchasing a captive - and then playing out the pits and having the warband that captured them making money off their pit victories are scenarios you can include in your campaign!
Yeah mordheim, our group just got together and pledged to start a new board and campaign! Just finished my witch hunters, on to start building the scenery, tnx for the inspiration!
Love the chaotic energy you bring to builds like this. The paint job is amazing - you were so right about using those reds and yellows underneath the dark washes. Do you think you'll ever do a battle report using it?
Need to do an octagon for the chaos worshippers. An easy secnario for the board is to use the kidnapped! scenario from wd 244 with one warband attacking to rescue their compatriot and the other warband acting as security for the pit as the fight in the pit goes on.
I would like to be teeny tiny and walk through (and maybe fight in) this pit, beautiful! Also I like that you have rubble soup and Bill has crustard. Mmm.
Don't worry, Trent. The Pit WILL be rolled. It might take ten years, but when it happens, you'll be glad you built this board. On another point, I imagine you _could_ make stuff stick to the inside of the bucket plastic. You just need to sand and scratch the shit out of the interior, to create plenty of texture materials can adhere to.
Get in the pit, it'll only take a bit. blood on stones, broken teeth and shattered Bones, Rats squeak and you're afraid to speak, let loose a cry and hope you don't die! Get ready, Get set, It's time for your Welcome to Mordheim!
lmao, just kicked off a new campaign this evening! Played Reikland mercs, I came out with a pretty good result, too!(got a free ogre bodyguard for next game and 70 gold crowns in the bank!). No one got sold to the pits this meet up, but maybe next time we'll see it happen.
