It killed me when he just sawzalled off a crash brace on the frame so the tire wouldn't rub on it, lmao
Well let's be honest with ourselves. Going those speeds in trucks, that little crash bar isn't going to make.much of a difference on a crash.
@@the_car_guy5915 Well we'd have to ask the engineers who put it there and why to know for sure, but It's probably for small overlap protection to keep the wheel from jamming itself into where your legs are. I certainly wouldn't want it deleted, and the sad thing is, whoever buys that truck after they're done with it would probably never know.
Raptors don't have them
It’s a pretty common thing to do, that generation has 2 and usually only the outer one is cut for clearance. People make it seem like it’s a lot bigger deal than it is
celebrities
I’d go 2nd gen lightning personally. Bolt ons and your putting 450plus down. I feel like the srt-10 is at a huge advantage here.
The lighting internals suck tho I’d go with a gen 4 vortec the 4.8,5.3,6.0 all cheap and with a cam and turbo they can handle a good amount of boost
The SRT10 had a hug advantage, and that baby cam they put in it was holding it back a lot!
@@bobthealpha67 I've got a stock lightning and a damn 6.0 regular cab with only bolt ons gave it a run for its money. That same 6.0 with a torquer v4 cam, 3200 stall, 4.56 gears later blew my doors off lmao. I've got a Kenne bell 2.6 and some manley rods for my lightning on the way tho. Stock rods are trash on that damn 5.4.
Cool Jackson headstock
@@THRASHMETALFUNRIFFS Thanks! It’s my 2016 USA select soloist the crown jewel of my collection.
I'd love this show more if all the conversations were not rehearsed and planned. You can tell from the responses and the timing its all written down on paper before they say it. Just let it flow yall 😌
I agree but it's a PG ish show so if not rehearsed I'm sure there would be alot of colorful language I'm sure networks and sponsors wouldn't be happy about.
I love the shows, been watching these as a kid with my dad from when they started in 1999 I believe but I sure wish they were alittle more aggressive in their builds. I've seen Similar builds like strokes and FI make more power. To be fair I think their goal is to build something powerful without necessarily sacrificing reliability and drivability.
Bro, this whole episode was basically an ad.
@@xKontractKi11er bro, the entire series is one giant ad.
8:40 😂
... it's a TV show... TV shows have scripts...
These guys are dorks
They need to bring back Stacy David
He has his own YT
The "little person" takes the cake 🤣🤣
Stacy David came off just as big of a puppet as these 2
I'm a huge Ram fan, but I gotta admit that F-150 paint job, hood, flares, and wheels are a complete show stopper. Absolutely beautiful truck.
Anyone notice he forgot to put the new headlights in the Ecoboost??😅
They probably exceeded the budget so had to drop em
Bro Tahts exactly what I rhot
That's what I said too! 😂🤣
Noticed it too. Disappointed cause that would’ve looked better.

I loved the way that V10 sounded after cam, and Exhaust. It literally sounded like a 60s LeMan race car. Sadly the Ecoboost didn’t sound good, I was really wishing he went with the 5.0 then supercharged it. It would have done so much better, and would have sounded amazing.
Also it was a huge missed opportunity on the SRT10 to just swap out the ram emblem with a Viper emblem.

How dare you
@@eltigreandthewalrus 😊w2m111 👎
That definitely would have broke budget
Probably one of the most comprehensive build video ever. although I would still like to see track time differences tho.
Both are really great trucks.
its so stupid cuz he couldve got a coyote f150 and the 5.0 coyote just needs boost and fuel and you can make up to 1200whp with a stock sealed coyote. no heads no cams no pistons no rods and they run 9s for a crew can and as fast as 8s with the single cab short bed in the 1/4 mile. he bought a turbo for this when he couldve slapped a turbo or supercharger and fuel system. m8dnight performance jas toms of these in the 8s without ever openimg the engine. gotta think once ford went with aluminum they have a weight advantage weighing jn at 4500lbs (hellcat weight damn near) its like having a awd mustang
That eco boost is trash and if you put turbos on that srt10 it would be over for it and even the 5.0.
Yes it's a rerun, they put it all in one video this time, I am ok with this.
me too
I also feel okay with this
First time seeing any of these. I like the "all-in-one" episodes since it makes it easier to watch the whole thing.
@@P51 you are going out
No shit. They’ve done it for awhile
I love that the dodge almost had enough left in the budget to still supercharge it if he wanted. Lol
He should’ve done the supercharger! Even a cheap one….He left a little over 6k in his bank! I mean seriously? Why?!? Use it or lose it
Not to mention he got quad cab version of the ram imagine the single cab
The Ram deserved a way bigger cam too, my only guess is they were trying to keep it fair by going with a very mild cam.
@@shawnblaylock5956 they wanted to make the ecoboost look good, that's all its a TV show
@@shawnblaylock5956 Nu
I worked for dodge when they brought out the SRT-10 Ram and it originally had single cab and a 6-speed Hurst
Single cab would have won even more lol the performance is alot better
I'm a HUGE Mopar guy and love the look of the SRT-10 (before and after) but that F-150 Looks incredible!
I'm a Ford fan all the way but that V-10 sounds like an angry beast.
Although I'm sure they could have done a little more on both trucks to preform even better.
If it wasn't about looks, I'd build a K series Civic with 220hp and keep up with both trucks
@@TheBikemaster94 Agreed on the keeping up part but those are completely different classes and isn't a "Muscle Truck". If we we're going with that logic just get your choice of 600cc+ SS bike and outrun them all.
I'd like to run both of them in my 9000 pound diesel F250 on 40's. Approx 1000hp and has enough torque to bake the tires.
I started watching this like normal and didnt even realize how early i was
For all the people saying this is a rerun you guys need to realize that we all dont have cable or satellite
Its already been on this YT channel....
What is this? Its not top gear right?
The biggest problem I have with his is the fact he had almost a 1/3 of his budget left where he could have done some pretty decent performance things to the Ram SRT-10.
Are you are talking more motor or suspension?
@@murderdoggg either! He could have done a 2/3 lowering kit, and an exhaust, and possibly even one of the 2 great looking hoods that reduce temps in the engine bay. If the point was to make it close for both, then I get it. However, why not use as much of your budget as possible?
@Freedom Freedom they built the trucks the way they wanted. He chose to go for looks over performance, which most people tend to do.
He could if stroked it truthfully but it wouldn't be competitive anymore
its so stupid cuz he couldve got a coyote f150 and the 5.0 coyote just needs boost and fuel and you can make up to 1200whp with a stock sealed coyote. no heads no cams no pistons no rods and they run 9s for a crew can and as fast as 8s with the single cab short bed in the 1/4 mile. he bought a turbo for this when he couldve slapped a turbo or supercharger and fuel system. m8dnight performance jas toms of these in the 8s without ever openimg the engine. gotta think once ford went with aluminum they have a weight advantage weighing jn at 4500lbs (hellcat weight damn near) its like having a awd mustang
This was really cool but as others have said he should've started with the 5.0 and supercharge which would fix the lack of low end power for the Ford. I hope to see more of these challenges.

My 05 Single cab Ram started it's life with a 4.7 Magnum. It now sports a 392 Hemi. It also has Calvert Racing track bars and some suspension upgrades.
It traps through the 1/8 mi at 8.7 and 80.3 mph with a D/A of about 3000 ft. Enjoyed the video . Nice work 👏 👌.
Any updates?
@@bunnyman6321 The local drag strip is for sale and didn’t open up. I put it back on street tires and changed the front shocks out for road driving. The closest strip is nearly two hours away. I’ve basically been doing car shows. Thanks for asking. I guess the answer is no. No place to run and no reason make changes with no place for testing.
@@earache_srt8790 Damn. Buy the strip, save the track and go back racing.
You the only guy who can save local racing 💯
You should do another build where instead of choosing your own vehicle you choose each others vehicles and see who can make it faster.
Wow that’s cunning.
that would be great
Good video but...... I'd like to know where you bought a 70,000 mile srt 10 for only $15,000
correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this came out some couple of years ago. So the used car prices weren't crazy like how it is now.
Someone one is selling a single cab with 50k. Near me I wish I could get it
Me too 😁
Probably Mexico.
Only the crew cabs have the manual transmission option.
Ur momma
Did I really just binge a 2 hour truck building UA-cam video
Thank you for putting up the whole thing instead of cut up episode. I enjoyed watching!
When I was younger I was a car detailer, and I worked at quite a few different dealerships due to moving around. I drove a first generation 351 equipped Lightning and I also drove a brand new 6 speed Burnt Orange Metallic Ram Viper. The Lightning wasn't very impressive, but it still felt like a heavy old truck. However it was still fun to drive with alot of punch, but that Ram Viper was scary and it hauled some major a$$. I didn't want the Lightning and I couldn't afford the Ram.
Those numbers on the Ford are weak for a turbo swap. I was expecting 600hp
The turbos swap is almost the same factory turbos with only 2mm bigger turbines.
The Viper truck build is also disappointing. With a supercharger they could have reached between 700-800hp easy with corresponding tq figures. There is really not that much of a reason to go through all that work and burn al that money to get around 40 extra hp and 45 extra tq.
The tune they used sucks. That should’ve made way more power with a turbo swap. Those 3.5’s will make those numbers with stock turbos! They need a real tuner like Unleashed Tuning
@@mustpaike. They also only put a baby cam in the Ram🤦🏻♂️
@@pittysbuilds895 Seemed like they used the tune that came with the tuner.
Gosh dang, my man drops $5k on a cam upgrade and picks up only 38whp. All the LS guys laughing with their $300 cam upgrade and pushing over 500whp on a 5.3- Definitely should have gone the custom grind route my man.
An ecoboost with just a tune makes more than this. “performance parts”
Seems like some sandbagging going on here. 5 star 94 tunes on later stock eco's up here in Canada can run mid 12's on lighter super cab trucks.. my totally stock 18' ran a 8.95 1/8 and a 14.03 1/4.. 5.85 0 -60, Ultra 94 fuel in the tank. 6 speed SRT-10 trucks have dyno'd at 10% loss compared to advertised Hp... maybe we have better air ? Good show none the less !
Not gonna lie by the end of the build, before they even started testing the Ford won me over.
Total underdog story. Even sweeter for the fact that the Ford 'just' lost despite a lot less power
To be honest I was kinda going for the ram. I love Ford too but you can’t deny that srt-10 is a monster
@@connectedautola4191 8.3 Litres is strong

Very curious to see what the ford eco boost would have done on E85 conversion specially with the Turbo and fueling upgrades that were done to it.
That ecoboost can easily kick out supercar levels of power.
Awesome awesome awesome series! More like this with different cars/trucks! Great quality, informative and engaging hosts. This show fires on all cylinders!

I love it when we you have these builds. Which truck is faster. Well lets start with one truck having a Viper V10, put into a truck that was built for speed then compare it to a truck with a V6, built for comfort. Yep that's a fare way to do it.
They all break. No way I would drive a dodge v6 or a Viper (gasp...my brilliant friend in med school owned one, he got screwed over in it randomly stroking out Houston freeway) pass. A dodge v8 I might trust.

I remember this episode! Amazing.
The comp 918 springs were a good choice for that Viper engine, but I would've custom spec'd a cam through Comp Cams. It really doesn't cost that much more.
They put a very mild cam in the Ram, my guess is that they were trying to keep it fair.

So much power was left on the table with that ecoboost

Talking muscle trucks I never hear mention of the Dodge Dakota 5.9 R/T. I had one and it was awesome.
Bruh. Not gonna lie, the f150 build didn’t start off well; but by the time the styling and dyno tests came, it left me totally impressed. And I think everyone was impressed by it. his choice was a complete fail. The producers should have told him to try again and emphasize "MUSCLE". He brought a knife to a gunfight.
The EcoBoost would have beat the Ram with the right tune
Always enjoy this show......................... 👍👍👍
Personally for me, I would take the spoiler off the back of the SRT.
It’s too light in the rear, having no downforce back there would make it uncontrollable
How’d they come up with an extra 10 points for the dodge
I think it would be awsome to do something like this with the newer mid sized trucks like the Ranger and Colorado ect.
What did we learn? That it's more expensive to turn an econo-box into a sports car/truck than to just...buy a sports car/truck with a big V8.
But pops and bangs, and then back to fuel economy😳

This is gettin' serious. Great mods on these two trucks.
I'd like to see a Ranchero vs El Camino buildoff
Same here brother.
May as well see what they can come up with Down Under and get a Holden shipped here too. Wouldn't want 51.093 metric shittones of comments from Australia sayin how much more violent they could make their Holdens.
@@jasonaldenhaley1 same could be said for the Ford Falcons they have there too...
It would've literally been over if he threw a turbo on the Dodge
You aren’t wrong but I used to know someone from SuperViperSystems I’ve seen the kind of work they put into their cars and I think honestly if these guys couldn’t even tune that eco boost to hit 500HP the last thing they could have accomplished was turbocharging that viper engine. How could you drop that kind of money on an eco boost for less than 50HP SMH…
Anything other then a baby cam would have worked too🤦🏻♂️
I was surprised at how slow these trucks were. 9+ second 1/8 mile time? I would hate to know I had $35,000 - $40,000 in a “muscle truck “ that couldn’t even run in the 8’s. They should have gone with 5 Star Tunning for the ecoboost. They put out 475 RWHP on the Stock Turbos. I was hoping to see the ecoboost in the 7’s.
I was thinking the exact same thing my '19 Ecoboost is putting down more than him with just tune and intake.
I was pretty glad to see the ecoboost made the same power as my stock '02 lightning with bolt ons and 6lb pulley. I am sure that some guys have their ecoboost engines cranked up way more.
I've got a 2.7 EcoBoost F150 that does a 4.5 second 0-60 with just a tune. These engines are a beast. It breaks traction on all 4 wheels with a 4wd boost launch.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but did that 3.5L EcoBoost make more wheel horsepower AND torque than the Coyote F-150?
I cant stand an ecoboosts but yea that f150 ecos boogie. They can be tuned to be straight fast af
Yes they did but I doubt it outlast the Coyote though.
@@CJColvin def won't. Coyote power and reliablity is amazing
@@danielservin2450 I totally agree brother I have a 2011 Ford F150 with a 5.0L Coyote V8 in it with 141,000 miles and still going strong and its a beast and it sounds like a beast with the Borla ATAK.
@@CJColvin yea had a 05 mustang with the 3v and all the coyote Mustangs would just wreck my car. Im not a big half ton truck guy but if someone gonna buy one gotta have a v8. All the stupid turbo trucks bother me
With the budget you could have gotten more power from the ecoboost.
Just tuning stock can make more power
That F150 is sick Af💪I want mine to look just like that and run just like that
Platinum and limited trims with the 3.5l has H.O motors. They are tuned differently by factory.
H.O motor is only in the Raptor, not the platinum in 2015
That srt10 really should have gotten a custom cam and utilized the whole 15k
That dodge was asking for a pro charger
How did I not know about this channel!!! SUBSCRIBED!!!!!!!!!!
I love watching POWERNATION. All of you guys are rock stars. I love the FULL Builds like the Chevelle most. Keep between the ditches fellars.
They really made this far closer than they needed to to create drama and draw out the episode, man’s really left 4K on the table the srt would have absolutely whooped the eco boost in every category if he would’ve used his whole budget
Yeah no shit, a 10 cylinder sport truck beat a 6 cylinder truck. If the ford had the 5.0 on it wouldn’t even be close
@@RJB-rt1kn You're not wrong. If it had been a Coyote F150, adding those same turbos to it would have made an even bigger impact. There's a lot more potential in the 5.0 than in the 3.5, simply by virtue of already having more displacement and 2 more cylinders. Whole lot more upside, and a whole lot better chance of beating that V10 ram. Still, it was cool just seeing the guys having some fun with what they had.
If they actually tuned the Ecoboost better that 4k wouldn't have mattered
It's funny how LT dogs turbos, nowadays everything he builds has a turbo...
I put an Eaton Detroit TruTrac differential in my 98 c1500 5.7l.
Is a awesome limit slip with a brake system instead of a clutch system.
“Your killing me smalls” DAYUMMM that got me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
bro never put the headlights on the f150 😔
Great comparison but I think that they should have had 2 trucks from the same model year so that the technology would be equal. I was pulling for the Dodge but have to reluctantly admit that Ford has done some impressive things with hp per cubic inch.
its so stupid cuz he couldve got a coyote f150 and the 5.0 coyote just needs boost and fuel and you can make up to 1200whp with a stock sealed coyote. no heads no cams no pistons no rods and they run 9s for a crew can and as fast as 8s with the single cab short bed in the 1/4 mile. he bought a turbo for this when he couldve slapped a turbo or supercharger and fuel system. m8dnight performance jas toms of these in the 8s without ever openimg the engine. gotta think once ford went with aluminum they have a weight advantage weighing jn at 4500lbs (hellcat weight damn near) its like having a awd mustang
What does that plastic covering the pinch seam do? (Inside the driver side wheel well)
My condolences to you and your family. Loosing a father is hard I went through that last year . Stay strong
13:30 Isn't the stock tire size on the SRT-10 Ram 305/40R22 in all 4 corners?
Yes Pirelli Scorpions
@@djcherokee Is it the same on all srt10s?
@@fuzzymoto896 Yes, on all of them from 2004 to 2006 Single Cab and Quad Cab, all the same size
Cool idea and his was able to get a lot more power out of that EcoBoost than I thought would happen, but this would have definitely been better if he would gone 8 Cylinder and then stole a page out of the SRT playbook by adding drivetrain mods to make the Ford into a GT or Cobra Mustang Truck. I did think it was pretty interesting that he did not choose the easy route and just mod a LS Chevy.
Agreed. Seems like everyone is all "LS swap everything!" It's refreshing to do something else for a change.
Ecoboost usually makes much more power than this did with a tune only lol. 50hp gains is like nothing for a turbod engine
That ecoboost had him all day with the right driver
I have to admit that Ford looked awesome! I see everyone commenting that the F150 could’ve been tuned for a lot more power so knowing that if I could tune it to get 550-600 HP on the setup that they built then I definitely would’ve took the F150! I have always loved the SRT10 but they could’ve done so much more for the performance of the truck! Take into account that you can easily tune the F150 to get double the MPG than the SRT10 then it’s an easy decision for me.

Un plug the antilock sensor on the wheels it stops the traction control
I think the ram trx is now the fastest production truck
true, when this originally aired tho the srt-10 pickup was fastest at the time
How much better would that Viper engine 🤔 perform with Hemi heads?
When it comes to SUVs & 4WDs I'm not a low stance guy, but that F150 is mighty cool looking. 👌
I'm not a big ford person. But that ford is pretty sharp. Plus I've heard a lot good things about the eco boost trucks
Don't these ecoboost come 450hp stock? He also turned it into a fraptor.
Anyone else see the spare moving around on the viper during the burn out?
Truly badass loved watching this!!
Screw the f150 ecoboost!!! What a nightmare to work on 😱
as an ecoboost guy it pained me when he used the ford performance turbos, for the price he could of got a much bigger twin turbo set up. ford performance turbos are hotdog water. love the show!

Hey you guys might be able to tell me how come my F-150 says XLT everywhere including the interior but the VIN number says it's a lariat?
The f-150 really needed some blacked out headlights and taillights
That tug o war was simple for the dodge...while the the Ford was doing a burnout, it wasn't establishing any grip which made the surf slippery and easy for the dodge to walk the dog on him with MINIMAL EFFORT -example- you ever see people at the drag strip push a cars rear end left and right to help warm up the tire....there's your scenario....driver error on the ford, he should of just started to pull...slowly then added power with progress...
