Like the dude below me said, "that annoying wastegate sound," IDK what wastegate sound this dude would be referring to, but my 612 whp 1.8L DOHC VTEC turbo Honda Civic has a 60mm Turbosmart Powergate and sounds SO AMAZING under full boost when the wastegate opens to bleed off pressure. I have had multiple wastegates on it over the years from an eBay junk 38mm to a 38mm Tial F38, and now finally a 60mm Turbosmart that cost me over $600, and while the Turbosmart is the best working unit, I have never complained about the sound being annoying. I have also had a few different blow off valves on it as well, and now it has a Tial Q50 50mm BOV and it also sounds amazing. The only BOV that I didn't really like was the HKS SSQV II that I had on it that would give off a loud chirp when it blew off pressure. Due to the high boost pressure that the car runs, as well as the 90mm throttle body and 3.5L Skunk2 Ultra Race intake manifold, the car now has all 3" intercooler piping and front mount intercooler as opposed to the 2.25" piping that was on it. All of my piping is one piece piping. You need to make sure you have the proper ring gap to install any power adder. If not the gap will close and you will rip the top off a piston. Then you have a boat anchor.
So company's like edelbrock shouldn't sell bolt on superchargers that make 8-10 psi on unopened engines? Ring gap matter more for big power and bad tuning.
@@b18c5integra I don't think you understand how things work.... If there is a 10psi spring in the waste gate, it will hold till 10psi. So I am wondering why they didn't upgrade the fuel pump? I am guessing that is why they only made 500HP instead of the 600-650RWHP they could have made with this kit.
Fun fact, the “stututu” sound isn’t actually from the blow off valve, it’s from the air that can’t escape forcing its way through the turbo and bouncing off the compressor blades, a blow off that lets enough air out at once won’t make that noise, whereas a setup without one will do it very loudly and possibly cause faster wear of the compressor. Another thing that can happen with extreme boost levels is the charge pipe can blow off if the air has nowhere to go, there’s a video of a Civic on the dyno that had the vacuum line for the blow off valve come off mid-pull, one of the end tanks on the intercooler blew out, but at low boost, it’s not as important to have a blow off valve, Diesel engines don’t really need them either, since they don’t have a throttle plate.

Probably because with the way the truck is set up now it isn't going to hook anyway. 400 more hp would just be a waste unless you spend all day everyday doing burnouts.
500 wheel is a lot of power
When they were talking about the waste gate what “annoying turbo noise” are yall referring to?
*_That motor could handle a 20 psi hit what a load of BULLLL_*
It can easily
*_If they did that this show would hit 50 million viewers in a day.. They don't know how take things that extra knotch for ratings... A real UA-camr would of push it up till knock then backed it down..._*
And blow up the first pass, lol!
I didn't see a fuel pump upgrade. They likely ran out of fuel and didn't wanna roast the 4l80
*_Everything is fishy about this video, like really STANK!!!!_*
Great video! I am wondering if you guys by chance have installed a turbo kit on a 2500HD with the 6.0L Vortec? Looking for a good video so I can install it on mine afterwards. If any of you guys know please let me know. Thank you!
That's a lot of work for 8lbs of boost. I would have used the blue Spring.
i would have taken the red pill
Ok now I'm pretty sure between youtube and my phone its reading my brain waves now. I haven't looked anything up that is car related in months an get a thought popped into my head literally like 30 mins ago an now this video is recommended on my browser.
Impressive on the power gains but wow this is an expensive build to say the least
Would bbe better too build a new motor wouldnnt it
Shawn Clark The whole point of these shows are get you to spend money on parts you don’t need. I don’t think those MSD coil packs make much bang for the buck
NotBuyingIt I couldn’t agree more
Monte Maguire heck yeah it would be
Production coils are much better coils in the MSDS. They also put out more Milla joules of energy
This kit is almost 4k without dyno time and exhaust. Ridiculous
4k...... then you got 500 HPZzzzzzzz bruh! Wert you watchin 👀?
@@RotaryCrossType7 okay but a hypothetically you could get way more
@@agoogleuser1188 Would this kit work on a 2010 GMC Yukon?
I agree. It would be smarter to just buy a Chevy 6.2 liter v8 in the first place making about the same power and no annoying waste gate sounds. Lol The 6.2would be less expensive more reliable and you would get better fuel economy.
@@TheJmatagi
That 5.3 pushing 498whp is around 150+whp more than a stock 6.2.
There is absolutely no comparison, the turbo is an incredible upgrade to any motor.
Baby cam right? Con el filtro rojo pa que amarre loco bien chila
Sloppy mechanics would have made more HP with less $. I guess when your sponsors pay crap you can buy whatever
What's the price for all of that bolt on goodness?
@@RotaryCrossType7 look up sloppy mechanics on UA-cam they can do an eBay turbo kit and a 6.0 LS and make like a thousand horsepower
lol making 1k on a stock 6.0 for 3 runs isnt shit
What about the gapping on the rings that you'll go into the motor internally
Is this motor a 5.3L or 6.0L?
Brett yuo 5.3
What if you have previously installed an aftermarket larger transmission cooler in the factory location, any issues with engine cooling or any othertemp issues being that the front end is getting more restricted airflow?
