- Building a big beast of a sport truck is a task full of challenges, but the guys are determined to see it through to an awesome track test! This super 4x4 diesel is going from mild to wild!
We started with a 2003 Chevy 2500HD Silverado and tore it down to a bare frame. Then got to work on the short bed conversion, cutting the frame down piece by piece. After a lot of hard work, we finally had our shorty diesel.
After that, we turned our attention to the engine. We swapped in some new head gaskets and head studs, and then installed an S-366 single turbo kit for some serious punch. The last thing we installed was our beast of a transmission. Engineered to withstand 750 horsepower and sporting a flashy 'Illusion Orange' powder coating, it's built for power and performance.
We've practically reinvented this old workhorse, enhancing its power and performance with a few crucial touch-ups. The next step is to bring the truck out of the shop and really let it rip on the dyno. Stay tuned to see SuperMax in action! - Авто та транспорт
I love how the power nation shows start with 2 hosts and ends with one host or 2 different hosts.
Yeah it's weird how actors get killed off halfway through a series and replaced with a different actor
@@Nat-Oyou don’t even watch the show lmao
You here for the guys or the trucks? 😂
@@delta-theoryarizona4256 yes
@@Nat-OWTH? Nobody died..... They just removed the host who did most of the body work and paint work.
The power of a modern diesel with a reliability of an old one
"You want one of these on your own you gotta build it"
THATS FAIR 🤝🏽💯
Yep. I can be like that sometimes. But it's just part of the fun. At least that's what we tell ourselves.
That’s what I love about the 1st gen Ram trucks, the W250 frame is extended at the joining of the rear clip. So shortening the frame to fit a Ramcharger is easy.
great series. I am one that welded a gmt400 frame after a 1 ton and gmt800 HD for guidance. LOL. this is right up my alley. No one will guess HD rails until they look, and actually know these trucks.
It's Cooter's version of the General Lee 😂😂😂😂
Love the short box conversion! Would have liked to see stage 3 that LT kept talking about, however.
Problem is LT isn't on the show anymore 😕. They go through hosts like underwear. And for some reason think they need 25 projects all at once never really finishing any... not like it used to be that's for sure
LT does have a UA-cam channel if you into this build he does other like it
Wont happen, bully dog doesn't even make tuners that actually improve power anymore after they got smacked by the EPA. You have to get a 3rd party tuner to do it, or do it yourself. Even then it's HIGHLY restricted.
I done forgot it was a 2500HD 44 minutes in
You should send George a thank you package, a signed hat, shirt and merch from your channel. Thank you George again. Bro love your channel and God bless....
This model truck has the best headlights i think. They just look nice.
I would have boxed that frame while I had the truck apart...
GM did make short box diesel trucks. I had a 1982 Silverado 6.2 L diesel with 700R4 trans and 3.08:1 rear axle.
They're talking about duramax equipped
uhhhhh that’s not a gmt 800 buddy
@@ethzn3982 Those motors were also terrible. We owned one and it was such a dog.
To be honest, I loved the way it looked in the beginning , minus the front bumper being a mess , but I've always been raised around all sorts of vehicles but in my family it seems when I was a kid the regular or standard cab combination with a long box or long bed was what meant you had a real truck made for hauling , I will agree that when it comes to performance however the short bed will put meanuver on a track setup or on the off road side off things as the wheels become closer together giving you better approach and departure angles as well as getting high centered, but I like the stretched look myself of long bed but hey , to each their own , also IMO resale red icky
Crazy cool 🔥
Oh man this is gonna be a goooooood one
I get it's for TV.
Buys the truck with a S&B cold air intake. Takes it off and replaces it with Bully Dog. Then replaces it again off screen with the final one. Nice!
I like how LT pointed out the original wasn't really a cold air intake and then wound up swapping out the real cold air intake for another hot air intake off camera due to the parts sponsorship.
Turn those torsion bars down some more and that truck will come out of the hole pin straight it won’t try to do that dance on you. Nice build guys!
The most American thing I've ever seen
I've got the 06 lbz. Love it
Needs Banks Ram Air differential Cover PPE is a big bad burrito joke waiting to unload the stench.I truly appreciate all the tips never would have thought the center link would do that real good to know. That launch was totally radical I love everything about that launch awesome.
PPE actually makes really good, reliable stuff. I agree Banks makes amazing stuff, though...
@@richfarfugnuven6308appreciate the commentary and like-mindedness we're all getting really good tons of info out there.I have a project in mind but time and money are in the way at the moment maybe 10 years from now if sooner the better. But it is what you truly appreciate if you check out Banks videos you'll see the differential oil does reak really bad that they had to stop testing but some things are an afterthought still for 2024.I like also Krypton stearing parts but that ppe has a strong center link with confidence we can all make jumps just like the General Lee did back in the day.If no one doesn't know John Schneider has Bo's extravaganza it's a compound to check out you can find in Google Maps.

Glad you used a gmt800
I'm Expecting Jeremy to break out a Shamwow and LT to pimp out some Magic Screens.
Keep doing more Duramax builds
Watching the engine tech was interesting. What I learned is I don't have a big enough torque wrench to torque some of the bolts.
This thing is gonna ride like a rock, given the shorter wheelbase and weight reduction.
Sickkkkk
Check out a battery tender desulfator, my dad has brought back many batteries with one. It basically shocks the battery on and off constantly. Maybe it will work 🤷♂️
Truck master did this shortymax
hearing that ending about wanting to make a "dedicated, twin-turbo diesel drag racer" bro is doing exactly that on his channel lol.
It's a twin turbo but not a diesel. He's using the 8.1L gas engine.
ppe is a sponsor but if it was me id throw that ppe diff cover in the trash and get a banks ram air diff cover its deigned for better cooling a the fins inside help cool it better without introducing air in the oil. and it has a patented ram scoop that cools the diff
Nice gouge in the right front of the radiator front putting in he new intercooler dude
what r u even talking about...
The factory oil pressure sending unit is a check valve kinda sensor. Oil pressure on a aftermarket gauge wont hurt. But if the stock gauge comes off its starting point it has pressure. And for future searches take a look at LMR, American muscle and cj pony parts. As far as future tuning if you ever decide to change tuners look up Mo’s speed shop out of Dallas Georgia. They are really good with mustangs in general. You can figure the gear ratio by rpm at 55mph with it in 4th o/d locked up. Id turn tcs off at all times, its a early tcs system and it will actually cause you more trouble than it will prevent. It pulls engine timing a ton, and doesnt exactly abs like it needs too in order to help traction. Ive had em sideway and tcs kick in and the car dead hook and go straight in a bad way. Ive even seen tcs activate when its turned off by the button. Could ask the tuner to eliminate it completely if he is capable.
Wow nice turn out! I love the educational aspect of your videos
Great build would’ve done few things different though as far as performance. You guys should’ve added keys on the crank that small dowel pin is a major weak point, also you might’ve been able to get a few more gains in stage one and overall if you upgraded the Y bridge to a 3inch the stock one is just as restrictive as the downpipe, one other thing is when trying to push more fuel you could also add higher flow rate injectors and another major upgrade is 2 piece motor mounts keeps it held tight which when your truck pulling you don’t need to rely on a chain to keep it from torquing under load just few things. Anyone with an lb7 should also do wire tuck the stock covering is a major pain… tucking and loosing the OE plastic will save time when pulling 👌
What happened to stage 3?
With the added gauges it's cheap enough now to just get digital all in 1 gauge you plug in to the obd2 port
You didn't even take the trim panel off the dash and clean under it... Well I guess it's a quick build and that's a difference between a detail bill and a quick build
So I have a yfz450r I bought unfinished swap with a gsxr750 engine I got it wrapped up but I’m having issues with chain slip or jumping I don’t know. I used the engine mounts they made but asking about engine sprocket alignment with swing arm bolt. Mine is above about an inch or so but it’s dead center with rear sprocket my question is would that cause a problem ? Should I lower the engine to be center with swing arm bolt ? I would be loosing ground clearance but if it’s needs to be that way I guess there’s no way around it. Thank you I await your response.
This would be even cooler if it were a 2wd with the ZF6 trans. Oh yea, that's my sons truck 1 of 1.
They should have installed the non-HD bumper cover to raise the bumper.
Would love to see a parts list on this thing. I have an LBZ, but I’m sure many of the parts interchange.
My boy LT
So glad to see Lt back on here! Been following his channel for a long time.
Built a few we had one that we tubbed out its was stupid quick
Plus less drive shaft length gives less power lag as well short less distance better response 14:35
Im only guessing, but based on all the details you provided... I would bet the first hard yank caused damage at both ends. Whether a visual inspection would have helped or not, who knows. The second pull damaged your recovery point and the soft shackle at the jeep even more...to the point of complete failure. When i saw your video teaser still shot i would have guessed the jeeps recovery point broke and that was the mass and weight that caused so much damage and injury. Thank god that was not the case, or this could have been a complete tragedy for you or your passenger. Thank god you are recovering and learning from this experience. I learned a few things I've assumed and done many times without realizing I've just gotten lucky. First step for me is throwing away my cheap Chinese soft shackles and only keeping my better ones.
Attempt No4 of requesting a Cologne V6 build for those of us who like the baby broncos and rangers
Hope your gonna address the keyway on the crank to a upgrade
Back when LT had young guy fluffy hair 😀
Theres one literally by my house everyday i drive by and drool l... It's also a manual which makes it 6,000 times better... Sbrc
2500hd Duramax manual transmission swapped god build
steering stabilizer upgrade!
I would've upgraded the radiator while I was in there.
😂😂 that’s a small change not worth mentioning
Probably be fine but you aren’t supposed to lube both sides of the washers. In the video the washers were turning while torquing down, which is incorrect
This guy looks like a mix between Mark Wahlberg and the bright insight guy
That freaky wolfman voice feels like Saturday morning in 1990. Please stop! At least you turned the music down, thank you! Great video!
lost me when you used bullydog to tune it...
Job well done. I liked it better b4. But that's just personal styling. This truck belonged back in 2000.
All that and they still did not do a key way mod on the balancer!!😂🤣
That flowmaster (trash) 1 to 2 muffler is a hilarious product to put on a truck you want to call "performance"
You made a prison truck😳
@1:38:48 doofus sayz nuthin matches looolll i see grill, lower valence, bowtie, dash, interier, undercarriage. Now it really looks stoopud goodjob
You alright dude? Why so negative?
I REALLY NEED THE ANSWER TO WHERE I CAN GET THE LEAF SPRING BRAKET
Love or show😊😊
Lol gale would have one or two things to say about that diffcover 😅
What happened to your"Bull Dog" cold air box for "ADDED cold air"????
You guys should put like all expenses and total prices at the end of video
What do you all do with the builds after filming?
Pretty sure they sell them
Could you explain why you didn't start with a standard cab, short bed C15 and then just add diesel running gear?
Got it, I didn't watch to the end.
I just can't imagine anyone wanting a shorter bed than 6 and 1/2. Mine is the 5.5 footer And twice all ready has been to short.
I like 99-02 pre cateye trucks . Not a big fan of the avalanche face...the sheep say cateye... Me. It's just an avalanche grill because avalanche had it first way back in '02. And why is it so special? Because the pickup finally got it. The Tahoe never got it and it looks better
When you weld a frame like this your supposed to upperweld pass for a better penetration and better heat expension for make it more solide😅😅😅
We put an actual cold air intake so it doesn’t get under air heat fast forward to the end they went to a open air filter 🤦♂️
rest in pieces that factory g80!
Just can't understand not keepin the gooseneck....would be a sweet show/race tow rig....aluminum trailer....bikes/trikes/rails/buggies/planes/corvair/😎
LT spends more time dancing while explaining than Nancy Pelosi
hard to watch without added commentary from myself...
Orange Whip? 😎
110 welder can do that work, it just takes longer time welding.
What color did you want? Rust
Hope the transfer case was filled. Didnt show.
Would prefer some weld racing wheels on there. Other than that I like it
Wounder if this could be done to my 2005 1500 short box
Wondering if the frame would be a limiting factor. The half ton wasn't really designed for a diesel.
@bmstylee I know the half ton came in a 6.0l gas and looking at the specs the duramax is the same size ...
i was wondering this to, i think the diesels tq may be alot for the frame to handle with stage 2 and up? maybe not
@joefries365 that's a good point but doesn't the 6.0 put down similar numbers I'm guess not in the 4x4 or awd but in rwd .. its something to look into that's for sure. My 4.3l is starting to get long in the tooth and looking at replacing her soon
@@knkmphda fully dressed duramax full of fluids weighs twice as much as a 6.0 it will fit in the engine bay but it weighs substantially more
What do you guys do with all your builds? Keep them for a few years then sell them? Store them? What?
Not a fan of the wheel choice. Love the orange. I’ve always wanted a RCSB truck. They are awesome.
Not the 22lr bullet holes😂
Rather see more on your 8.1L turbo silverado
How much would a build like this go for
Wouldn’t it have been easier to start with a gasoline powered short bed , then add the duramax and Alison? Y’all pulled the fricking engine out anyway!
Where’s that hood from
So sick great build! Should’ve named it Little Max, Short Max, or Stubby Max. Super Max just isn’t it.
Or shit max..
Yea all factory air intakes are cold air intakes
That truck would look so much better if it wasnt a cateye.
How much you think it's worth after everything done to it?
Whatever someone’s willing to pay lol
Should've went with the more sunburst metallic orange, this color isn't great.
dual exhaust on a duramax? heck no🥴, i would’ve just put a 5” straight pipe on it
so when are you giving it away ...
Why don't you make it AWD.
I have a 2015 1500 trying to swap to a diesel engine
Nice you told people to have good welds but those would never pass!
they offered plenty of "short box" pickups with diesels though...
Not regular cabs
Needs 2 inch drop front and 1 inch drop rear. I like the racked look. Also a crystal clear headlights
Why not put the old roll pan on it looked better anyways also why dual exhaust and a muffler why not just cut the small part that the wheel rubbed
if a manufacturer was named it was a paid placement.
