I paid $49,999 for mine back in 2004 brand new. Mine was the manual equipped two door version. Dodge's claim to fame on this was 500 hp, 500 ft lbs of torque and 500 watts for the stereo. If you held the skinny pedal to the floor you could get 84 miles out of a full tank of gas. Zero to sixty was in the 4s range. A launch was hell on the clutch if you didn't do it just right. Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out. Keep up the great content!

i dont miss those under 100 mile tanks of gas!!! lol I used to have to brew up my own octane booster in the late 1970's and 1980's because there was just 'UNLEADED' and it was always 86 or 87 octane and none of my hot rods would run on it!!! I used to buy 55gal drums of xylene and toluene for under $45 and I had a friend who worked at the airport who would get me 100LL AV gas for cheap.....man, those were the days....

Its heated through resistance not induction. Induction heating involves creating a current through changing non contact magnetic feilds. If heating enough staples those leads get very hot but only a few is not enough to heat the large thermal mass of brass.

    • @denryaron6238
      @denryaron6238 10 місяців тому +8

In addition to what OP said, tiny staples got significantly higher resistance than the thick brass rods, therefore majority of the heat is generated at the staple.

I am one of those guys that repaired and made thousands of hydraulic hoses. It’s pretty easy once you learn what style of fitting you are dealing with and what’s available to make a retrofit. My advice is don’t try to modify it yourself first. An old motor home/RV is a good example of a pressure hose you’ll never find new. Crazy long and complex steel tubing bends and maybe just a short section in the middle with a crimped hydraulic hose. I could easily use a hacksaw to cut each section apart, create a new hose with ferrule connections (made for this, not the cheap brass stuff) and the customer would be shocked it only cost like $80-120. If the tubing has not been destroyed, piece of cake

Nice video! I can't wait to see how this project turns out. One thing I'd love to see in your videos would be some sort of summary at the end of each video on the work done and the cost of the parts (kind of a running summary updated for each video installment). I think seeing that sort of information over the life of a long-term project would really help your viewers who may be considering buying vehicles at auction to fix them up. Just a suggestion. Have a nice day!

I miss that truck so much. I've thought about buying another truck but I've been priced out of the ability to buy one with prices on the rise. If I found one at a auction like you did I would have jumped on it and well would had to get a bank loan, lol..

I owned a 2006 quad cab auto SRT10. Never had a single mechanical issue in the 3 ish years I owned it so I can't be of any help in that department but I loved that truck. Still miss it. Only sold it because my now ex-wife and I were separated at the time and when we reconciled one of the terms was I had to "give up" my toy. Then things didn't work out anyways and I was down a toy. Never again lol. I won't buy one of these again because it takes stupid money to make any power (you have to ProCharge them period and build trans/clutch + tires and all supporting mods) but I do still miss that thing. I was full bolt-on, ported intake, LT's, exhaust, tons of powdercoated upgrades, I think I was making around 500rwhp on the dyno plus full custom stereo/subs/components, murdered out. Good stuff!

Awesome build Sam!, Love seeing trucks that work out after some relatively quick fixes.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seemed to me that when you were reconnecting the new oil cooler lines back on there was some thread tape or thread sealant on the fitting. Not sure if you need them, as they appear to be a JIC (Flare style connection). Not trying to nag, just noticed that and thought that maybe I could get your input on it.
Cheers! and once again, great job.

9:30 - pour off the topside of centreline on a full bottle, not the bottom side, you'll spill less and have far better control about how much you're pouring (yes, this puts the hand grip on the bottom side when pouring but I'm sure you're smart enough to cope with that - 2 handed pouring helps)
The spout is offset from the centreline of the bottle from this reason. As it empties you can rotate the container to keep the spout below the liquid level
Or you can use a plastic screw on spout, but those tend to glug

I saw one of these about a year ago in Tampa. Crew cab, manual, red with white stripes, and the big spoiler above the tailgate! About $18000 (if I recall). I figured "This is too unique, I won't be able to work on it, it's too expensive, I don't need a truck this big," etc. So I went for a '05 Nissan Frontier instead. Crew cab, short bed, more modest. Perfect for my needs. After about 50 miles (about 2 weeks later, I hardly drive at all) it's got a check engine light. I let it be for awhile because I drive about 10 miles a week (working from home, so just basic errands). It had gotten somewhat worse, so I took it to a shop to have it looked at. Turns out it has BAD leaking valve cover gaskets (no drops on the ground, all internal), which led to low oil, which led to loose timing chains and a mis-fire, and now runs poorly. You KNOW someone cleared the light and they knew it went thru tons of oil, but that was not disclosed to me. Now it needs (at shop prices) about $4000 worth of work. My "cheap" truck got real expensive!
Wish I had gotten the SRT 10.

I've always wanted an SRT-10. Don't know why the Quad cabs don't come with the manual trans. Around 5 years ago I looked at a couple of really nice examples, $40-50K, but Quad cabs, autos. Just not an ideal truck for central Alberta winters. Settled for a used '15 Powerwagon for $44K. I feel that was an extremely good deal on your end, and was very satisfied with my PW choice. No issues even when it's -30 C, or a foot off snow. No issues pulling a 30 foot car hauler. Other than the 6.4 is a thirsty beast, for a daily driver.

When I replaced my power steering pump on my 92 f250, I left the plug on the reservoir then using my vacuum reservoir pump that is used to draw oil out of the engine dipstick, I hooked it to the return line. Then I filled the reservoir with oil, left the cap off and did not run it, then put the vacuum on and drew the fluid out, making sure the reservoir was kept full and turning the steering back and forth. I did this until the fluid ran clear. Then I then I connected up the return line and ran it and finished the process of bleeding it out and topped it off. This way I was able to keep the dirty oil from the rest of the system from getting into the new pump.

9:27 I use two funnels end-to-end to avoid spilling it like that.
(Or for a full bottle that's prone to spilling like that, just pour out some into a smaller container --- a wide-mouth cup like a sour-cream tub works well here; you don't even need a funnel --- and then pour the fluid from that into the funnel. "Rinse and repeat" as necessary till the level in the bottle get reduced enough so that it will pour cleanly.)

One of my all time favs. Just last year I was looking around and a high mileage SRT10 was in the high 20’s to low 30’s. Ridiculous. I gave up. If this becomes a flip truck LMK I’m interested. Thanks again for some cool content. Bravo 👏

wait , so you can't afford a 20-30,000 pickup? if you can't afford to buy it for that then you wouldn't be able to afford to drive it likely either no matter what the price was

You're definitely correct there they are expensive to run between the poor gas mileage and the insurance which is insane on vipers

We had one of these in the workshop that was going to a USAF base in the UK as a fire engine that needed mirrors fitted.
These I fitted and then had to take off again as the monster was too big to get out of the workshop.

2 big things will have to do with that truck is replace the power steering lines with the aftermarket A/N fitting kit and buy the pin kit for the harmonic balancer. The bolt on the crank loves to back out.

Talking about sports truck trend. There were at least 70 trucks last night at the Drag Races in Houston for a truck event. Even one that is being giving away that run 3.9 seconds in the 1/8th mile.
