That compress before pushing saved me from messing up the new spring. I thought the spring damage was from the buffer exploding. May have been from me.
10:45pm. I had a real problem putting my spring back. They bend so easy. On my new one, I'm going to cut the spring somewhat, to take away some of the tension. Have you done this? Also, I'm thinking to improve the spring is to add a smaller spring inside the original in order to provide support
I have a model 60. Date of Manufacture of 1983. I cleaned everything and when I tried to reinstall the recoil spring; It bent in half. Mine has one plastic push-pin to remove the trigger assembly. It is much different that yours in this video. I am kind of pissed off. I just bought this gun used and decided to clean it good. Yes it was dirty; But I guess the spring was the original from 38 years ago. I have a replacement coming soon. Great video..!!
have a '71 from pap..changed spring cus was having feed problem..seemed to help for while but now back to failing..every 2 to 3 shots.. sometimes doesn't wanna feed initial round.
I have a model 60, and yes, I bent the spring. It was My fault and I have a new one on the way. You have to love the internet and Online sales. I am sure it was already Bent ! I think I just Helped it just give up. Great video and thank you for sharing your skillset.
@tomlialiou3513 I'm new to repairing this rifle. I kept bending it 3 in total . Not sure if I did the anything significantly wrong thing. I Clipped to shorten a little bit I was able to put in with out it bending again. Any reason I would have major problem doing that.? It seems to be working.
Howdy! What is the name of the place where you bought the recoil spring? I checked on the eBay but they were outrageous expensive. Ah, since I am on it, would you know where to buy the inner reloader tube for a Stevens 87A .22 call? Appreciate your time.
I have a model 60 from the Clinton era, so it has the shortened feed tube, and the problem I have is cleaning it. lol. It's a pain to clean! Do you have any tips or tricks on that? I ask because I noticed that your hands stay clean the entire time.
Just got a 79. The bolt if not pulled back hard and fast will get stuck half way and you can feel a small area of resistance. Think a change of this spring would fix that?
I would strip it down and give it a very thorough cleaning and at that point look to see if the spring is bent if so that's more than likely the problem. If you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask we'll do our best to help you out
Great video, I had a bent spring to replace and you provided great information on doing it.
