Black's BBQ is the best I've ever had. If I never get to go to Franklin's to try Aaron's bbq I'd be happy with Black's for the rest of my life. No place like Texas!
I've been eating Blacks brisket since 1960. Franklin's brisket has almost an identical "flavor" as Black's but it is much more tender especially on the "lean" (flat) sections because they use a better quality brisket. Also, Black's has ALWAYS cut the fatty end WITH the grain which I cannot understand. Bottom line? If you still like Black's brisket, the only reason to try Franklin's is if somebody else is PAYING for it. Certainly no reason to wait in line for hours to pay $35/pound at Franklins.
Most definitely. It is really cool to eat BBQ in a small town but when you come to Lockhart it is just a BBQ town. This place has the goods for sure. Thanks for watching! - Mac
In the national news today, the US Wage and Hour Division of the US Department of Labor released a statement that Black's BBQ Inc. chain has been keeping the tips for their managers and withholding the money from the employees. Investigators found that Black's BBQ owed $230,000 to employees. They also found they weren't paying employees for their labor before and after their scheduled shifts. Kent Black said it was an "honest mistake" because of rule change in the laws. The law regarding that companies can't take employee tips has been around for many decades. What a liar.
Kent Black is an ATTORNEY who knows the LAW, so his "excuse" is 100% BULLLsh#t. He has NEVER been a pitmaster, just an owner as opposed to brother Terry and his sons. I knew his dad Edgar pretty well and he was good and honest man. Can't say the same about Kent. It's ALL about the $$$ for him and his UT frat boy son.
Small Town Texas BBQ Anytime! Looking forward to watching more of your videos! I have been to Terry Blacks in Austin and loved it....though I do consider franklins the #1 spot for best BBQ.
@@cxkelley When you are out in West Texas go check out Brick Vault Brewery and Barbecue in Marathon and also Convenience West in Marfa. Great food and innovation in those spots. Franklin's is one of the most consistent across the board for meats. Not a single complaint from me. Loved it!
@@smalltowntexasbbqburgersbr1391 unfortunately I never got out to Black's, we ran behind schedule. But I managed to find Terry Black's in Austin and it was fantastic, I had the Brisket, my wife had Turkey and we split a beef rib. I will be hitting the original blacks, on my trip to Texas though.
Looks like you had a bad experience. We didn't have that issue when we went in 2020. By the way, I'm curious to know what time you went to eat? Was it opening time or late afternoon?
@@smalltowntexasbbqburgersbr1391 Should not matter at Blacks because I have actually had some really good brisket there at 7:30pm 10 yrs ago. Sounds to me like they are starting to live off OLD reputation.
Went there was all excited but kinda disappointed and very pricey. Our person took or sides order was nice but was complaining that it was supposed to be her day off. The sausage was their best meat.
@@shawncaldwell593 another old school joint. They cook hot and fast. I'm very open to different styles so I enjoyed quite a bit of what I got. Shoulder clod was on point.
I have to admit sides are pretty generic. I think they could definitely up their game with some more well thought out or chef inspired sides. Craft BBQ folks are wanting more of that for sure. Thanks for watching and your comment. Have a great 2023!
The BEST brisket I've EVER eaten!!!!
Love it!

Nice vid
Thanks so much!
I think he was cutting the meat for us. Dude was cool as heck. Live 13 hours away but I’d go back for sure

Good catch but it was remedied so no worries. Thanks for watching.
Great video
Thanks for your kind words! Have you been to Black's yet?

Small Town Texas BBQ thank you, I will definitely check those out ASAP!
Good job...Blacks will be high up on my lest when I get out that way for some BBQ!
Don't miss out on those beef ribs! They are monstrous and worth the trip all by their lonesome! Thanks for watching friend!
I still have my blacks bbq tshirt... love this place!
Enjoyed just about all the meats there! Great stuff Cam - Mac
Heading out that way Tues before I hit San Antonio, can't wait.
I hope it went well! Which meats did you get?

👍
Thanks very much!
Just went today! I won’t be back. Brisket not tender, you had one job! Tough to eat, pork ribs were old, probably cooked 2 days ago. No recommended!

No I didn’t. How’s the food there? I’ll try it next time

0:47 - 100% waste of time and money. None of their sides are worth the money. Buy meat and just eat the free pickles and onions, crackers and bread.
