    Always wanted to go to Lab. and catch some arctic char...had a uncle who taught in Postville for 10 years or so & i never made the trip!! Maybe i will in the near future !! You got some beauties there Bill & what a beautiful spot!! Great stuff there as always i really look forward to your videos!!

      +rodney newbury Hopefully when you come I wont be busy, we'll certainly have to go a fishing trip some time. I done a little smelt fishing not far from Postville this past winter, Postville is know for their large smelts, I wanted to see it for myself but tides weren't right when we were there and never had a lot of time to spare, that's when I was on the way back from polar bear hunting. Fishing in Adlavik is amazing, winter and summer ...!!!! Thanks buddy, looking forward to catching up on the vids, season winding down, one more trip of shrimp to go, forecast bad for a few days so heading out tomorrow for a hunt and work on the cabin, and outdoor cook up as well, can't beat the outdoor food, you know all about that ....!! Cheeer's buddy, havin a beer and picking a goose ....lol

    • @Biglandtrapper
      @Biglandtrapper  9 років тому

      +SwampDonkey530 Yes they are very lively, they don't stay out very long before they go back in so they are very aggressive when they are out. The further North you go the better they get, they are adapted to a very short summer. I actually never fished lakers before, going to try get out for a ice fishing trip this winter. Yes we always has a time of year to hunt, fish & gather something, to me its the tastiest and healthiest to eat. Thanks buddy, appreciate it ...!!

    How nice ! Seems like your living in a paradise with interminable fish source. In these days, ppl never treasure what they can get from the sea and keep contaminating it. Enjoy it while it still lasts.

      Yes I often gets comments from people that are against hunting & fishing but yet they live in areas where they destroyed the environment. I think i'ts much better to look after the environment & harvest from it, thank you....

    looked like a few flies hanging around you there...Plenty of action there with the fish no doubt...look at that pole bend, you have to love the fight...That spoon you had on seem to be the ticket for these fish and a great meal for you...

    • @Biglandtrapper
      @Biglandtrapper  9 років тому

      +Heith Gagnon Yes was one of the better mornings I had fishing in a long time, lost a few good clips transferring to computer. They are very aggressive, they don't spend much time out, they glut themselves and head back in the brooks for the winter, I taught I heard said they double their weight on their time out. Char like the bright, neon colour pixies, people here use them a lot char fishing , they work great. Yes few great meals for the winter, going to cook up some char tomorrow, outdoor cook up, forecast bad so going to take advantage of my time of. Hope everything is great your way, season winding down now so looking forward to catching up on things, all the bets buddy ...!!!!

    It doesn't get any nicer than that William or colder except on Pluto. I had good luck with pixie spoons on trout in Shuswap lake. I prefer the flourescent orange or even the pink. For a spoon though my all time favorite is Gibbs Crocodile or Lure Jensen Krocodile. Although around here Len Thompson red & white or 5 of diamonds work well & I hear red & white work deadly on char. Len Thompson puts red stripe in the middle. It seems to hypnotize fish.

    • @Biglandtrapper
      @Biglandtrapper  9 років тому

      +Tossdart Was a wonderful trip, a much needed break, been a busy summer we been going pretty much non stop. Char really like the neon colour pixies they work great trolling as well, they sell a pile of them in Makkovik, the red and white works deadly for the sea run brook trout as well ..!!

    Fantastic, thanks for the video...it's makin me hungry for smoked Char!!!!
    As a fisherman, I have a question - since you use a boat to get to your locations, why not fish from the boat, what's the advantage of fishing from shore? Obviously it's working for you, so I'm not questioning that, just wondering if there's a reason for it? Also, what time of year is this - early June I'm guessing? Thanks for the video.

    • @Biglandtrapper
      @Biglandtrapper  9 років тому +1

      +Breeding Aquarium Fish You welcome, yes you can fish from boat & is good fun but nice and peaceful fishing from the shore in the morning. On this side of the bay you catch more char, go to the opposite side of the bay you get more trout. This was early July the char were soon going back in the brook for the winter, nice and fat. Oh yes smoked char would be good I have one left & will have next week, smoked char & Caesar is one of my favorite combo's.....
