    I got hit by a car and this has been the issue for full recovery and healing. I believe the root issue to most of my lingering elements after a few, several months has been due to stuck fascia and scar tissue. Realizing this has made me 100% focus on counteracting this and I’ve noticed more strength.

    I had my first ever surgery in August, a ganglion cyst removal that puzzled my doctors because of how high up on my hand it sat. My scar tissue isn't flat, it almost bulges out of my skin, and it's very tender. I looked up what could help with the pain and apparently breaking up the tissue helps so we'll see! Unfortunately I have two more cysts on my other hand so maybe if this first one heals properly, I'll look into getting the other one's removed.

    I have adhesions from 3 c-sections and a laparoscopic hysterectomy. They are causing intestinal obstructions and so far I’ve been lucky enough that they work itself out. I’m curious if any of these will help in my case. I will do anything to prevent that pain that usually last 24 hours to finally heal.

      If you have not already done so, you should look for a pelvic floor specialist. Your situation is a bit too complicated to navigate by yourself. A specialist of this nature could make a major difference in your pain.
      Regarding the part you could start with on your own, we’d recommend applying the methods detailed in our video to the area where you have obvious external scar tissue. Even though your adhesions are deep, you could influence them superficially.

    • @RahshellD
      @RahshellD 26 днів тому +2

      I agree with pelvic floor therapy, my last c section was 14 years ago and 10 years ago I had laparoscopic hysterectomy. The deep hip pain I was having was directly related to adhesions from the C-section scar. I JUST started going early November and the stretching and scar massage has helped a lot.

    I am 4 weeks out and my ROM is at 100 with pressure. And any further causes sharp pain. Do I still push through? Also can I massage the scar at 4 weeks all scabs are off and glue has peeled off. If I push my range of motion hard, I have a lot of swelling and pain the rest of the day which then limits my activities so I don’t see the benefit of pushing to that limit.

    • @MobilityDoc

      You’re definitely going to have to find a balance between progress and pain. Each person is different, as well as each surgery to some extent. We can tell you first hand that most post surgical cases continue to experience pain and swelling until ROM, strength, and activities, are closer to normal. Unfortunately it’s often impossible to avoid pain, but that doesn’t mean you should ignore what you’re feeling. Hopefully you are working with someone who knows how to help you through this process. We promise that if you stay consistent, and keep working at it, you will get there. Play around with how often you work the part, how hard you push, and how much rest you take between moments. Sometimes ice can be amazing right after therapy to get ahead of the swelling. In most cases it’s normal to still see swelling after for 12 weeks, so don’t be discouraged. You can definitely massage that scar tissue now. Keep us updated and ask any questions.

    I had completely severed the extensor, the central slip on my left index finger and part of the extensor on the outside of the finger at the dip joint. I’m fully recovered now, but I have significant stiffness in that finger and sadly I can no longer play guitar because of it. I have a lot of adhesions and tightness. is that scraping technique something that would be helpful to regaining my range of motion?

    Can you please say something about post hip replacement methods?
    Im going into my 3rd week and starting to develop hardness.
    Thank you for the video, was very helpful.

    • @MobilityDoc
      @MobilityDoc  3 місяці тому

      Sure thing! Obviously everyone is a little different, but generally people are able to be much more immediately active and aggressive after a hip replacement vs say a knee replacement. Depending on how long you’ve needed the replacement can make it more or less difficult to rehab through. But the take home message is that working with the right medical team will ensure you successfully get through the hard parts. Make sure you go to a PT that doesn’t only give you exercises, but also performs some manual hands on work to break up that hardness. Too many rehab facilities skip the one on one parts and just hand out the same rehab sheets to everyone. It’s usually around week 4 where you being to see some major improvements in how you feel and move. Then typically 3 to 6 months before you’re beginning to not notice the surgery as much. After that you really get back to whatever activities you wanted to be able to do again.

    I have Ehlers Danlos disease and fibromyalgia. I had knee surgery June 19th, 2024. Home health showed once for exercise in two weeks. I finally was able to get into our truck so my husband could get me to PT. Been there ever since. The stretching technique they use was so painful I turned into a screamer and finally stopped them from doing that because of the amount of pain meds I had to be on just to go to therapy.
    Whew! Anyway, I started seeing a ART specialist three weeks ago and am getting results. But the surgeon wants me to go under anesthesia and have it bent and broken up.
    I do feel like this will set me back because nobody understands the disease. It creates scar tissue and has slow healing affects. It is a condition that creates loose ligaments and tissue throughout the body. I really need guidance here. The PT wants me to go under too.
    Can you please give me your opinion on best strategy?

    • @MobilityDoc
      @MobilityDoc  4 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for the question. Undoubtedly your situation is a difficult one. We have active patients with EDS and use the techniques in this video (including ART) with great results. Everyone is different, but generally these methods of breaking up adhesions and scar tissue do get favorable results. What we will say is that if you are continuing to improve with ART (ie your ROM is improving significantly) it's hard to imagine why you would need an MUA. In the event that you did receive the MUA it would make sense that you would need to rely heavily on your PT to make sure they continue to perform manual therapy (like ART) to make sure you don't begin to develop new adhesion. There isn't great information out there about EDS patients with an MUA (and then add in fibromyalgia), so we strongly recommend you force in depth conversations with your medical team to ensure that you are fully heard, and that your best interest is kept at the center of all decisions.

    I'm s/p 10 1/2 weeks of index finger wound repair and tendon repair, at the mid joint also where the cut laceration there is a lumpy skin/tissue under the neath the finger, also the top joint is sore and the finger tip is drooping down. I still can't bend the finger at the mid joint, any suggestions

    • @MobilityDoc
      @MobilityDoc  Місяць тому +1

      Thank you for the question, Dolores. Ideally you could work with a good PT on this as it’s still relatively recent, and the answer to your question is not only involved, but it will change as you progress. It sounds like you need a combination of manual therapies (like in this video) to continue to reshape that scar tissue you’re describing, as well as a progression of strength exercises for your finger. That soreness should continue to change as the scar tissue, joint mobility, and muscular strength all continue to improve.

      There are some gentle treatments that might help. Silicone-based products can be soothing and may improve the scar’s appearance over time. If you’re comfortable with it, a dermatologist could suggest options like laser therapy or microneedling, which have helped many people.
      The most important thing is to be patient with yourself. Healing takes time, and it’s okay to feel frustrated. Remember to keep the area moisturized and protected from the sun. And if you’re feeling overwhelmed, don’t hesitate to reach out to a professional for support - both for treatment options and to talk through how this is affecting you emotionally.
      You’re not alone in this. Take it one day at a time, and be kind to yourself as you navigate this journey

    How soon after suture removal can we start massage? I can feel my scars getting tight, i want to avoid some of the adhesion if possible, thank you

    • @MobilityDoc
      @MobilityDoc  3 місяці тому +1

      As long as there isn’t a scab any longer, you can typically start right after the sutures have been removed with gently rubbing with vitamin E oil. Depending on how big the scar is you can progress to cross friction work in about 2-3 weeks. Definitely talk to whoever is treating you though to make sure you are all on the same page.

Thanks again 🙏

      You might need to back off of the how quickly you are rubbing back and forth, and possibly use a good cream to reduce the amount of friction. In this video we gave different ways of breaking down scar tissue. You may need to change which type you are using. If what I said isn't helpful, feel free to give us more info so we can guide better.
