After my parents divorced, there was a big rift within my family and my mum desperately tried to bond with me over this song because we both liked the film. This song ended up being a catalyst for us bonding over old black & white films for many years after. She died 3 years ago and i still see this as 'our' song. Makes me sad hearing it now, but I'm glad it brought us closer all the same.

Feeling all bluesy. 90's is calling 😢 who else is feeling it? It is hard to believe that it's almost 3 decades since. "Breakfast at Tiffany's" is a feel good film starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard - it is being immortalized in this tune - a song that really captures the zest of it!

We were sightseeing in New York when streets were blocked since they were shooting the clip there. I vaguely remember watching a bit of it, but completely forgetting about it for 20+ years until it came on in the car the other day and my mum reminded me of it. Now I'm watching this on repeat trying to find out where I had been standing :D

This is what's called a flash of genius. Yes, otherwise they were just another band, but at one point in their lives they put together a piece of music that still gets a cheer in almost any pub in the world, and will continue to do so for many years to come. A one hit wonder is too patronizing, so I prefer to call it a flash of genius

      Graeme Pryce
isn't it funny how we've called them "one hit wonders" for decades. at least for me this is the 1st time i've heard someone put it this way instead. beethoven is considered in many circles to be a "musical genius" but how much of the general public know any of his songs, except the 5th symphony? maybe a bad example since we gave him a lot of credit for writing music even though he was deaf but whatever.

    • @GraemePryce1978
      @GraemePryce1978 8 років тому +6

Kewl Beans I think if you write music when you're deaf that is more likely to be good mathmatical, theological understanding of wiring notes ( that could never possibly mean anything to a deaf person ) down and sheer bloody good luck. lol

    • @kewlbns69
      @kewlbns69 8 років тому +6

      Graeme Pryce
well from what i understand he wasn't born deaf so by the time he was he probably had a pretty good idea of what he was doing. still...whenever people have tried combining science and art...shit got a lil weird. xD

The effects you're hearing are a delay combined with reverb on a clean guitar tone. You can see some Fender amplifiers in the background when they're in the park. Those are famous for their perfect clean tones. Combine that with a nice hollow-body guitar, and you get this love end-result.

    • @BadlyBentPub

    Breakfast At Tiffany’s lyrics:
    [Verse 1]
You say that we've got nothing in common
No common ground to start from
    And we're falling apart
You'll say the world has come between us
Our lives have come between us
Still I know you just don't care
    [Chorus]
And I said "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"
She said, "I think I remember that film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it."
And I said "Well, that's one thing we've got."
    [Verse 2]
I see you - the only one who knew me
And now your eyes see through me
    I guess I was wrong
So what now? It's plain to see we're over
And I hate when things are over
When so much is left undone
    [Chorus]
And I said "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"
She said, "I think I remember that film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it."
And I said "Well, that's one thing we've got."

It was shortly after this video that Josh had his accident and woke up convinced the band was called Queens of the Stone Age and had a much louder sound. The other guys tried to tell him it was all in his head, but he wouldn't let it go and eventually they changed the name of the band and started making heavier music hoping it was just a phase.
They still silently resent him after 20 years of making heavy rock.

This was mostly shot on the street in 1995 right in front of Tiffany's in New York. -- and I play one of the waiters. Having not seen this in years, I'd forgotten that I turn up at least five times in this: at 1:10, 1:41, 1:44, 2:22 and 2:51. The director didn't really tell us what to do so we all improvised.

So I watched this video a couple of years ago at a restaurant (no audio) and at that moment I thought “that’s a really good looking guitar” (the black Gibson ES-135). Time passed by and a couple of months ago I stumbled upon this same model at eBay, who’s quite rare, never heard of that model before and apparently it never succeeded. But the guitar was at a very affordable price. I didn’t recalled this video right away and the shape is similar to other jazz models like the ES-175. Long story short I bought it, it was in pretty bad shape, polished it, worked on the frets, and since then I been loving this guitar a lot. It’s a dream come true, it can jazz and rock with it’s own flavor. I owe a lot to this old video it took me a while to find it, I didn’t knew who they were or how popular was the song (at least it was not popular in Mexico) but it’s now on my playlist, just because.
Not the typical story about this video, right?
Cheers to all quarantine folks! Stay safe.

Yesterday I spent hours playing it thinking of how lucky still I am, I think the black one is the one that has all the juju, tho.
