@Joaco Soler my f4 hinge isn't 100% smooth and towards the few last few degrees of opening, it gets loose and will open on its own from the weight of the half (also have the S pen case). So it kind of opens itself towards the very end. Not loose enough to close itself unles I try to flick the phone shut, it would then move from flat open orientation to partially closed before stopping. My buddy has the F4 and his hinge us tight and evenly smooth all the way. After seeing the break down, I don't understand why some F4s will have a looser or tighter hinge. Maybe amount of lubricant on certain spots of the metal sliding design? I'm sure most phones will get looser with some use. Despite my screen not holding itself up towards the last 25 degrees or so, it doesn't really affect everyday need or performance. I would never have my screen folded in that orientation for viewing and depending on which side is on the table, it will tip back anyways due to balance being off center.

Samsung appreciation comment! Samsung has not only brought a CONCEPT piece of tech into a commercial product (with some hiccups), but made it SO good, that Jerryrigeverything mentioned it may just be ONE OF THE MOST technologically advanced so far! Respect to the z fold team putting these phones together, those are some great minds they have there!
Broke the screen on my Note 20 Ultra yesterday. Since I still have my Note 10 plus as a back up I caved an got the Fold 4. Because why not.. so far so good, definitely something to get use to.
It's painful to see you using a razorblade for everything. I know that it's brand recognition stuff, but you could always use a guitar pick once lifting up the folding screen and use a very thin metal tool like the QianLi UltraThin lineup of tools when first lifting up the glass screen (and hopefully a guitar pick once it's up, but your razorblade is probably fine).
I have the zfold 2, used it for two years without any screen issues. I loved the versatility of the zfold so I've recently upgraded to the zfold 4. I can tell it's a bit thinner and lighter. From day one I used the Spigen slim case that protects the spine of the phone. My job requires me to carry a phone 24/7, so I use it ALOT, yes I've dropped it often (generally waste hight). I don't what I'd do without so much screen space. Thanks for your videos...love the Hummer, Cheers!

@@trstnhn No, I don't think I've seen much from their recent lineup. Their chips are fast, software is quite optimized, but all in all nothing new except for the dynamic island thing this year (only on Pro and Pro Max models). I don't find that concept appealing tho
Finally let my Note 10+ go for a Fold 4 and wow this phone is awesome! Hate to see the Note line go but glad Samsung has refined the Fold series. So excited to see what else Samsung has for us in the future of the Folds.
I came from a note 10+ 5g my heart aches that my z fold4 only lasted so little bought the z fold4 on September 4th, on the 24th of December my screen had a random black crease down the middle... no drops at all no stress on the phone, it lives on a desk basically. I'm going this Monday to a "ibreakufix" store recommended by Samsung..I hope they warranty my phone, I'm making payments and if they don't replace it I'm asked out... 1 will never purchase a fold 4. As soon as they replace it. I'm selling it

Purchased this phone and could not be happier. Watching this video definitely proves why it costs so much. The sheer amount of engineering is mind blowing.
Thank you for the video!!! I love my Fold 4 so far. It's narrow front screen does require a bit of getting used to, but it is very usable. When I want to watch a video, draw, read, or have a mini tablet for productivity I just unfold the device and bam. I came from the Note 20 Ultra and I'm not missing it yet! The SPen Fold helped me accept the Fold 4. I'd love to see an integrated s pen and the narrow front screen have compatibility for the spen too.
He could probably do a survivable peel but it'd require a lot of gentle prying and maybe isopropyl to relax the adhesive and be boringly slow. The fragility of the OLED really makes you appreciate it's covered by glass on your non-folding smartphones.
This is my phone. Incredible! Now, if they could only restore the headphone jack and piggyback the SIM with the micro-SD card from my old phone, I would have been able to skip the cloud altogether. BTW, my old LG V20, still in use for my theater remote, backup storage and second screen on Wi-fi, has a battery door that springs open when you push the button, making changing it a breeze. And NO GLUE on the inside. Just push-pull connectors and screws.
The engineers are simply superb. If they can design a screen that can't be black-out in matter of seconds. It shows they secretly own the technology that can removed those delicate screen. Big up Samsung
I've had my Z Fold 4, for a little over one month now. so far, it is the best phone i've ever had! It's the most fun to use. I came from a Galaxy Note 10 Plus, and I couldn't image going back now.
Im daily driving the fold 3 since launch and find myself using the bigger screen for more than expected. they are amazing devices looking forward to see were they can go with the folding screens in the future the only problem ive come across is the last few week the screen protector on the inner screen has started lifting from general use other than that still going strong
@@sonyboybluespower i wouldn't do that since adding a screen protect on top will amplify the stresses caused by the bending of the screen and may causes damage. unlike previous folds removing the built in screen protector wont destroy your device so its better to just simply replace the original screen protector if it gets damaged instead of stacking screen protectors
I am never going to buy a folding phone becauseI am too clumsy to have such a fragile phone LOL LOL. But it is very interesting to see how far technology have come
I went from a S22 Ultra to the Fold 4 and don't think I'll ever go back to a traditional phone. Was waiting for a better camera to make the switch, and improved case for the S-pen from Samsung. Thanks for the break down!
I finally took the plunge this year and got a fold4 to replace my note10+. I'm still not sure it was the right move. So far its been fine, but I don't find myself doing anything new on the fold that I wasn't doing on my old phone. I did keep my old phone instead of trading in tho since I'm not sure about the longevity of the folding screen and I'd rather have a reliable backup.
LOL I also did the exact same thing, like upgraded to Fold 4 from my Note 10+ and still keep the old phone for a backup. And I still dont find myself do stuffs on my new one that I havent done on my Note
Expect the Fold3 to outlast a year with safe/gentle, & normal usage, but 2-3yr is a stretch. If you use heavily or abuse phone, expect it to last 8months. That's what happened to me. So no matter what they say, treat the phone well, for it to last. Samsung just reneged on my "broken screen" trade in, so now I have to pay 700 more and wait for it to return to me, before I can get it repaired, to then sell on my own. What a sham scam Samsung is not accepting broken screen when the site made me go thru a the efforts.
The great Ash! 🤣🤣 what a legend! I'm still using my Z Fold 2 and I love it, I'm not sure if I'd upgrade to a newer fold when it comes time, I love the concept but sometimes the larger display of a typical smart phone (compared to the outer display of the Fold) would be better when I'm out and about and don't want to be unfolding. Great video, love your content.
I'm always amazed when I think about how a company has created this phone from scratch. Developed every little detail and basically made it from Soil (ore, metals...)
Hey Jerry, why do you think Samsung keep releasing phones with such poor charging compared to their competitors, there is negligible improvement on all fronts, plugged-in, wireless and reverse charge. Other phones on the market are offering significantly higher charging rates, 65W, 100W, even 150W. I appreciate that with these speeds come heat and reduced battery life overall but Samsung just doesn't seem to be competing in this space. In the UK, I'm with the O2 network and their options each year usually result in Samsung or iPhone being the only true options for a flagship, seems disappointing with the price point of these devices that we aren't getting more innovation from Samsung in this area. Love the videos by the way, keep them coming!
Classic example of 1 step forward 2 steps back... Innovative design, but hard to recycle and near impossible to repair. If Samsung aren't careful they are in for a bad time. No matter how much money they throw at it.
To repair center screen I believe it comes with new frame & hinge, so they gotta pry them batteries out! Of the old one! Unless they just use new batteries as well...
I'm seeing that the s22 ultra camera sensor and z fold 4's are actually pretty similar physically. They take around the same amount of space but the quality is two different worlds! Why Samsung doesn't use the same sensor and software for both phones? As a content creator this phone would be an absolute BUY NOW if the cameras were as good as the s22 ultra! Imagine all the tasks and projects you can do with a power house like this...
My understanding is that Samsung changed the hinge design so it will stay in place in positions other than full-on open. Makes it easier to leave it open on a table to snap long-distance selfies, for example. So yeah, it's not as smooth to close. But doing so opens (get it? opens?) up other ways to use it.
I bought the z fold 4 after your teardown and durability test. I was in the market for a tablet for invoices and estimates in my mobile repair business. I have had it for 2 weeks so far. The android os itself is good from my perspective and use. Some apps are not optimized 100% like when switching from fold to tablet sometimes the aspect ratio is off or the screen orientation stays locked innth3 wrong direction but I think that has to do.with the app not the phone itself. My only gripe so far is the simplistic phone cases that are available for these. I found one that I like that also.hold my s pen and covers the hinge but I miss the true otterbox defender I had on my galaxy phones. Thanks for the video.
The way these devices operate is remarkable and with all of the technologies built in, I wonder how I ever did without it, I am very dependent and reliant on my phone and my tablet and watch.

I´ve had one for about 18 months. After 6 months i could hear the hinge crackling (probably because of dust building up inside the hinge, dunno) and it finally started to really glitch a few days ago, as it wouldn´t fully open - stopping at around 85% to 90%. I tried to clean it from the outside and it opens perfectly! But the inner display is not working anymore xD Welp, i´ll wait until this futuristic tech gets more... real world usable (and abusable) before getting another foldable. Love watching your content upon breaking inside throughout various phone models to determine their overall stability and durability if it shall last long over a good use throughout the years
I got my fold 4 three weeks ago. I almost made the mistake of getting the iPhone 14. I've been an iPhone user and advocate for a long time but after getting this z fold 4 its simply the coolest and best phone I ever had and I'll never buy an iPhone again
"Counting with Jerry" would be a cool series
I have the fold 4 and I traded in my fold 2 which i bought used. These things are magical. Nobody technically needs this but it is soo cool and really helps when doing computer-like things on your phone. Thanks for the great video as always
"I will definitely not be counting all the balls." Well, as we know sometimes promises are like glass, and glass breaks. So I will be looking forward to the video where Jerry looks at balls
didnt he say he would count all the balls in another video.... i havent seen where he has done that.
I've had my Fold3 since last September. So far I've had no issues and I'm pleased to see this lineup continue. That said it would be nice to have some healthy competition in the North American market for folding phones. Samsung has it too easy right now.
And stilll they add something
Just you wait, apple is coming to take samsung's lunch. Did you see the amount of innovation the new iphones are packing? Samsung stands no chance.
@@trstnhn No, I don't think I've seen much from their recent lineup. Their chips are fast, software is quite optimized, but all in all nothing new except for the dynamic island thing this year (only on Pro and Pro Max models). I don't find that concept appealing tho
*Iphone:* We are revolutionising the mobile market
*Samsung:* Hold my screws
Cosmo and Wanda knifes, nice!!
Samsung, true innovation ❤️
Unlike Assle
Finally let my Note 10+ go for a Fold 4 and wow this phone is awesome! Hate to see the Note line go but glad Samsung has refined the Fold series. So excited to see what else Samsung has for us in the future of the Folds.
The note series is still around. It's just the S series ultra now. Different name, same phone.
I came from a note 10+ 5g my heart aches that my z fold4 only lasted so little
bought the z fold4 on September
4th, on the 24th of December my
screen had a random black crease
down the middle... no drops at all
no stress on the phone, it lives on
a desk basically.
I'm going this Monday to a
"ibreakufix" store recommended
by Samsung..I hope they
warranty my phone, I'm making
payments and if they don't replace
it I'm asked out... 1 will never
purchase a fold 4. As soon as they
replace it. I'm selling it
I knew it would be the Fold 4 teardown, waiting for the Flip 4 durability test 😀
Ayyyyy me to
Just Watch the Flip 3 videos
Bro the durability test has been out for awhile
@@teamsantis8965 No?
@@ryanrenolds yeah, durability flip 4 were out for at least a week already, zach usually do durability first followed by teardown, if he do it the other way first, he will need 2 devices
Zack just dropped the Cosmo and Wanda knives.
Got the fold 3 and LOVE IT! Genuinely the best phone I've ever had tbh..
I've had the Z-fold 3 for about a year with no issues. My wife got the Z-Flip 3 about the same time and has had no issues as well.
Man, I was really hoping the screen would survive this time. The first peel seemed promising...
...and then that peel killed the display
He could probably do a survivable peel but it'd require a lot of gentle prying and maybe isopropyl to relax the adhesive and be boringly slow. The fragility of the OLED really makes you appreciate it's covered by glass on your non-folding smartphones.
If he just used a plastic pick instead of the knife he wouldnt break half as many phones
Can we appreciate how he gives all his time to show us the phones components wish you luck
-ur fan ashraf
@the demons yep I learned a lot from him what a great master
08:17 haha Samsung is swearing back at you Zack for the battery rant
Jerry aint counting deez nuts.
Heck yea
I noticed weird black threads coming out of fold 4 hinge area, after which it stopped unfolding, could be those brushy bristles at 10:29
The knife collection is elite 😂
“Hey Zack, do you have the Z Fold 4?”
“Yea hold on lemme get my dirt bucket”
Yep mine broke like this
Im daily driving the fold 3 since launch and find myself using the bigger screen for more than expected. they are amazing devices looking forward to see were they can go with the folding screens in the future the only problem ive come across is the last few week the screen protector on the inner screen has started lifting from general use other than that still going strong
U didnt add a protector to ur inner screen? I have one one and makes the phone stay like new
@@sonyboybluespower I thought the phone comes with a preapplied one? Did you slap a screen protector over the one already preapplied?
@@barronhelmutschnitzelnazi2188 correct! The pre applied one is technically the screen itself so you want to protect that too
@@sonyboybluespower i wouldn't do that since adding a screen protect on top will amplify the stresses caused by the bending of the screen and may causes damage. unlike previous folds removing the built in screen protector wont destroy your device so its better to just simply replace the original screen protector if it gets damaged instead of stacking screen protectors
@@ipodtouchiscoollol nah man i dont know where u came up with this but ive been using for 10 months and has kept my fold screen like new.
I have a Fold4 and never going back to anything else. Foldables are the future and multitasking with them is awesome.
The hinge alone is worth the upgrade
-said no one ever
7:02 pull tabs are also more satisfying to remove
I am never going to buy a folding phone becauseI am too clumsy to have such a fragile phone LOL LOL. But it is very interesting to see how far technology have come
Haha same here, I would always drop my phone and will definitely stab the screen with my fingers trying to catch it.
I went from a S22 Ultra to the Fold 4 and don't think I'll ever go back to a traditional phone. Was waiting for a better camera to make the switch, and improved case for the S-pen from Samsung. Thanks for the break down!
Could you do the xiaomi fold 2 or that one from huawei? would be interesting to see a side by side comparrison with the fold 4
Youre amazing handyman
I finally took the plunge this year and got a fold4 to replace my note10+. I'm still not sure it was the right move. So far its been fine, but I don't find myself doing anything new on the fold that I wasn't doing on my old phone. I did keep my old phone instead of trading in tho since I'm not sure about the longevity of the folding screen and I'd rather have a reliable backup.
I did the exact same thing and I'm enjoying the foldable experience so far
Dude if u still had a note 10 this fold 4 won’t last as long I would think.plastic screen and metal on metal. Good luck tho they do look cool 😅
Same, i still keep my note 9 while doing so much more with my fold 4!
Making phone like these are insane dude engineer rocks
Imagine if he made a teardown skin for his knife
yeah i don't think the warranty covers a JerryRig test
I am from the future and the brushes adhesive on this phone will cause problems.
Currently watching this on my fold 3/4 after replacing my 3 year old note 10+ last week. Highly recommended upgrade.
Would order Cosmo and Wanda knives for the heck of it.
I'm always amazed when I think about how a company has created this phone from scratch. Developed every little detail and basically made it from Soil (ore, metals...)
I love this mobile samsang Galaxy💗💪
If OnePlus makes a foldable it will fold into 4 parts if you know what I mean🤣
This is awesome comment. Jerry will invent it to four parts which one plus also can't accomplish
Cosmo and Wanda knives😍
Next is to make a folding battery.
That graphite colored lubricant is probably molybdenum disulphide
Meh, the 25W charging I get on my S21U is plenty fast. The 45W you get with the S22 Plus and Ultra is more than enough
Still waiting on the JerryRig everything Rivian R1T crush test on these phones, but awesome as always :)
The only glass that survives this durability test was the Back Glass
One minute silence for the outer and inner glass 😑
Please teardown Flip 4 Please.
Imagine all the tasks and projects you can do with a power house like this...
ayeeeeede im early
Yes
Can't wait for Xiaomi Mix fold 2 tear down 😍🎉
The engineering behind it just insane
I love my fold 3. I find it very productive at work.
I just ordered a clear knife after I heard they’re back in stock Can’t wait to get mine.
I broke down and got one. Killer deal with promos and trade in. Guess we'll see how it goes
Just got mine a couple days ago. I'm afraidto take it out of the house and in to the real world😀
My understanding is that Samsung changed the hinge design so it will stay in place in positions other than full-on open. Makes it easier to leave it open on a table to snap long-distance selfies, for example. So yeah, it's not as smooth to close. But doing so opens (get it? opens?) up other ways to use it.
Props to the engineers, I’d never come up with such things | Jst scrumptious !
I have the Zfold3.. It's truly a work of art!
*This guy is every tech engineer's worst fear/nightmare/enemy*
Do this for Flip 4 as well! Thanks for your the efforts for our curiosity satiety.
Looking at those Green and Pink knives, Cosmo and Wanda think they slick!
Love you Samsung z fold 4❤️❤️
I have the Z Fold 3 and it is working well.
Samsung has really intelligent mechanical engineers to design the hinges.. it’s a technological marvel
It almost makes one forget how they also designed the Note 7...Speaking of batteries, different engineering department hopefully.
Watched this on my fold 4 and thinking getting that green knife. Good as always!
The way these devices operate is remarkable and with all of the technologies built in, I wonder how I ever did without it, I am very dependent and reliant on my phone and my tablet and watch.
Cosmo and Wanda cant hide no more! Great video as always Zach!
I've actually been looking for a neon green knife, so this timing is quite fortuitous.
hi sir jerry.. im your #1 fan here in the Philippines.. im always watching your videos esp. your own electric Humvee.. when is the next update of it.. hehe.. God bless🙏😇
I think I rather have a S23ultra and a full size tablet instead of a foldable for now.
Someone start a petition for jerry to count the foam balls in the speakers
