A band so great that they named a city after them.
The sound, this album, and these songs will never ever get old. Just absolute classics that they will still be listening to 100 years from now.
Hitch a Ride should be up next
Absolutely all the songs in that album are awesome!!!
Definitely 'Hitch a Ride'!
Scholz was very proud that no computers or synths were used in this album. The "sound effects" are pick scrapes- taking a guitar pick and scraping it down the wound strings of the guitar.
Through his own inventeed amp, the rockman, if I'm not mistaken.
Idk if computer could’ve even done what he did 😂. Dudes a genius
@@Renaud.Gloglo.Blasinski rockman came later….he had the hyperspace pedal already built and I know he was always tweaking his guitars
And then he hits that high note... and goes higher! Wow! This is a song for a car drive on the highway in summer, windows down and radio blaring !
absolutely girl
Brad Delps voice is Fantastic
Tom Scholz holds a PhD in electronic engineering from MIT. Music is his side gig. He wrote, recorded and produced this entire album in his home basement studio using a lot of equipment that he invented and built himself. How cool is that?!?!?!
The album was recorded afterwards in a pro studio then released listen to it no 70s basement tape sound. It's a bs story that's made the rounds for years
You would think it to be in electronics, but it's actually a Masters in Mechanical Engineering. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Scholz
Brad Delp had a spectacular voice. One of a kind.😊
I had a 1977 Smokey and the Bandit TransAm with a factory 8-track and would crank this song up cruising down the road...such a long time ago...sigh.
This is one of those special albums that I could swear EVERYONE had when it came out. Kinda like Frampton Comes Alive.
Truth!
Except not everybody had Frampton, but Boston? yeah
I had it for sure. Still do in fact. Still sounds amazing.
Yup, every dorm window was blasting these out 9/76.
You're so right, Mickey.
Perfect 10 debut!
I love that everyone who reviews this on youtube just smiles through the whole thing... the pure joy of experiencing music in its highest form!
The 1970's and 1980's brought in an era of music that will never be duplicated. An absolutely incredible era.
The irony of this song is that it has become that old song that when I hear it, it's "more than a feeling." The memories it brings up! And yeah, I see his vision. Not so sure it'll get him all the ladies, but I see it. 🙂
Thanks for the listen. I'm sure it's been mentioned in a previous reply, but the most amazing thing about this album, is that it was all performed by one guy in his family basement.( Tom Scholz ). The vocals and drums were added later. The album went platinum before the band was even assembled.
for sure, for sure
Saw them in concert at the Sun Dome in Tampa, FL. in 1995. What a crowd! While waiting for the concert to start. We saw a man with greying hair in his' 50's wearing a Tux. His date was a stunning blonde in a light blue floor length evening gown with a tiara, diamond earrings/necklace and white elbow length gloves. 10 feet behind them, in walked a 30's women in a black bustier, leather short shorts, fishnet stockings, thigh-high boots and black leather gloves. In her hand was a silver chained dog leash. This leash was attach to the man she was leading in. He was wearing black combat boots, black leather pants, a black leather vest (no shirt), spiked leather dog collar and a full head black leather mask! I told my friends "This Concert just went to the next level"!! It was awesome! I never saw so many panties thrown onto the stage!!
One of the best selling debut rock albums of all time, 11 songs, not a bad one among them, all freakin 🔥 Glad you reacted to this one Chod/Dee. You and a Pontiac Trans Am flying down the road with your drums strapped to the roof.
This was THE best-selling debut album clear up until the 90’s, when Hootie and The Blowfish surpassed it.
@@rockdusted You are right. I had to look it up on Wiki before I commented because I knew that it was no longer # 1.
Greatest song of all time. Greatest band of all time.
I grew up listening to this amazing group along with so many form the Era. It was just a great time to grow up in as a teen. Great song and a great group Brad Delp was just an awesome talent.
If you like this track from Boston, you'd LOVE the song "Foreplay/ Long Time." The musicianship, groove, and the implied drama of the movements in the piece are just outstanding. Boston's debut album is one of the classics from a decade oozing with legendary talent. Cheers!
Was a huge fan in the 70’s. Saw them on their first tour. My husband and I saw them again 4 years ago. Still love them.
Any Boston songs take me back to high school and football games and driving the strip w friends. Great great times!! The best
Chod/Dee, their "Smokin' " is a great banger and next for you!!!
Great Reaction. In 1979 my family traveled to Michigan from Texas to work the blueberry fields. We worked in the snow trimming the plants and labored in the warehouse. Texas gas 3 digit summers. Michigan has cool summers compared to the Lone Star State. It was the coolest time. The music of Boston played in the blueberry fields. Excellent T-Shirt!
This track is the epitome of a “rock ballad”, awesome tune 👍🏼✌🏼
The late/great Brad Delp on vocals.
Great reaction! RIP Brad Delp your voice is immortal
I saw them live on this tour in 9th grade and it was loud and it was great. The vocals were so good, including hitting those high notes and also all the harmony vocals. It was just this incredible wall of sound.
Your faces say it all!!! Awesome.
I bought this album when I was in highschool, and still have it. I would crank it so loud that the needle skipped across the vinyl as everything shook in the house. One of the few records I physically wore out. I'm 63 and really enjoy you two. Takes me back to feeling 16 again.
Well for me it was leaving high school heading for my part time job after school with this blasting from the 8-Track player back in the seventies.
The magic of a well-placed pick slide.
I approve of your to do list Chod 👍🏻
me too 😎😎😎🤘🤘👍👍
Brad Delp one of the greatest rock vocalist of all time.
This songs sound waves gets in sync with our brain waves. I believe that's why a lot of times you hear something and either know what's coming next or you swear you've heard it before. E.L.O was also like that for me as a kid in the seventies.
This is ultimate summer feel good song...
This is probably the best sound on an album you can get. I can't play it unless it's all the way up.
I really enjoyed that I've gone to sleep with this song 😂. Open top car on the highway. I see his vision I like this song a lot
The quality of engineering on the recording made many people use this album to test and calibrate their stereos.
I close my eyes and she slipped away. Most heart breaking lyrics ever
Chod is right....it's either T-Bird open top or a Harley Davison Motorcycle with leather clothing blasting this song as many did back in the day.....driving down Sunset Boulevard!!! Hahahaha....lol....hahaahaha.....and the Ladies just stop and stare and the guys give you two thumbs up!!!! Hahahaha.....lol.....hahaha
This was our #1 party song in my high school days.
This was a band so good a city was named after them.
70's and 80's. I miss them
A rocknroll anthem,great Album
Thumbs up for Adam Sandler too Dee!
The biker boots absolutely dude
Please do more Boston hits!! Love your reactions!
Rick Beato does an excellent breakdown of this masterpiece, definitely need to check that out.
Every time I hear this song I think of the TV series Scrubs, when Turk sang this song with the hospital air band, lol! If you haven't seen that clip before take a minute and search for 'Scrubs more than a feeling' and get a good laugh!
I just found myself dreaming of a girl I used to know while cruising around in my '69 Chevelle and we were listening to this song.
Boston
Rock And Roll Band
Smokin
👢I see the visual!! 😆 Except, in Billy Madison, the sound playing with that "visual" was Billy Squier, The Stroke 🤣 👢👢👢
I haven’t heard Boston in a long time and this is a great album
There are videos them performing...along with most groups!! American Bandstand, Soul Train, MTV, all was where you see videos of performances early and later.
Grew up listening to this song. Still do.
Boston's 2nd album was delayed in release because the single reel to reel tape was accidentally exposed to heat and the tape was fused on the reel. Tom Scholz (MIT Graduate/genius)spent weeks peeling the tape off slowly, one inch at a time using liquid silicone lubricant, to recover the album!!! He continues to invent music related devices to this day!
Not one dud on this album
Huge record in 76
Just a great rock song we always cranked up when it came on the radio. I see you guys don't use earphones. I hope you have great speakers in that room. Lol.
Imagine today, recording this demo in your basement, play every instrument, that demo you send out and when you get signed you demand to record the album in your basement studio.dont see that happening again
Tom Sholtz recorded this in his basement... that's raw talent
Saw them open for Robin Trower, '76, Toronto. Sounded just like this!! Always loved the quote from the Tornados' 'Telstar' to begin the solo. Used to do that one with a late friend in the 90s, 30-odd years after having heard them on the BBC as a kid.
Love you guys..However we were going to the park on a Saturday afternoon. In tee shirts to hang out play frisbee..In our little part time job cars..All with our 8 Track players blasting Connecting having a good time
Although I prefer "Foreplay/Long Time", this is one of those "perfect songs". Even though it is overplayed and instantly recognisable, there is something joyous about it. Astonishing vocals, astonishing guitars, astonishing songwriting. This has got more hooks in it than a fisherman's tackle box! :-)
That visual is ICONIC! 20 years ago I was in Cambridge, MA (just outside of Boston) and I hear this song playing full blast next to me; a guy in a trans am with a t-top rockin' out to this song. Obviously I still remember it to this day.
I had the album, both vinyl and 8-track, this album was huge. Last year, I started learning how to drum, and this was the third song I learned to play. When it comes on the radio now, if I'm stopped at a light, my air drumming is tight. :) Thanks for playing it.
Great drumming 👍. Hope you guys are doing ok Love the channel. Matt from Australia 🇦🇺
Hey, just a few suggestions (especially since you're a fellow drummer): Dancing Madly Backwards by Captain Beyond (you will immediately want to learn the intro beat), Four Day Creep and I'm Ready (live version) by Humble Pie and Country And Eastern Music by Jan Hammer & Jerry Goodman (2 ex-Mahavishnu players rocking out). Great channel by the way.
Third stage is the only one without a guitar spaceship
This song (and whole album) just brings a smile to my face. Memories of driving I-195 with my uncle cranking this on his 8-Track...
Man you have to do " a man ill never be " by them for her next.....best power ballad ever
Boston is an American rock band who had their biggest success in the 70's-80's. They had a lot of great songs such as "Peace Of Mind", "Foreplay/Long Time", "Rock & Roll Band", "Smokin'", "Don't Look Back", "A Man I'll Never Be", "Feelin' Satisfied", "We're Ready", "Amanda", "Hitch A Ride", "Hollyann", "Cool The Engines" etc.
Boston has always been a band that to me, is best listened to on headphones. They made the most of the stereophonics ... great band, great reaction.
Bostons music is always clear and on point and if y'all have not done Peace of Mind , you should . ....................It's my favorite Boston song , but the whole first album kicked ass .
Pretty sure the bird on the Pontiac Firebird is probably a FIREBIRD, not an eagle, LOL
You guys are so cute! Love your video!
One the band I was in used to play: 'Peace of Mind' Boston
PS Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
This was so great to dance to in the clubs when it came out.
Hey Chod... Being a musician yourself, go watch Rick Beato's video where he does his 'What makes this song great' breakdown of 'More Than a Feeling'. He talks about the complexity of the music, ability of the musicians and the part I loved was his description of the percussion work... especially his description of a couple of the 'caveman fills' in the song on the drums! :) It's not 'reaction worthy', per-say, but something you may really like! ua-cam.com/video/ynFNt4tgBJ0/v-deo.html
Great vocals!!!
💯👏
brilliant

if you haven't reacted to Smokin.....by Boston...
you in for a treat😊
I'm with you man! Firebird Trans Am, t-tops, honeycomb rims . . . . Mine was a denim jacket with the engineer boots though lol! Boston all summer long baby! I REALLY wish you would do the Walk On Medley from the 1994 album Walk On. It's on youtube, so just search for the Flawless cut. You won't be disappointed. It's a Rock and Roll symphony!
Dude! Where did you get that Tshirt? Is it part of your merch? It's awesome :) And really good reaction to a song that everybody likes from so long ago, don't they?
Have seen it on Kohl's on line I believe
It's a SImp tatic song!!😁
