Update: I got an email from Sweetwater. I'll be getting one of the first UB-Xa synths to arrive at their superstore in Fort Wayne, but not until MAY 2024. UGH!!! But hey, we've been waiting 6 years for this beast. What's another 5 or 6 months, right? Anyway, yes, the price is right!!!

I too have been on the list at Sweetwater. I can’t wait. I’m also getting the Behringer Swing to use with my Behringer Pro-1. Hopefully they will both arrive by the end of January. Thanks James for keeping us updated.
Well…My source told me just right now… “It does look like they readjusted the ETA on those. All of them are note expected until the 2nd qtr of 2024. I would take their etas as very much an estimate for these, it will likely change before then again.”

Hey James. I think the $1199 price is right on thw money. But as you said with first batches of synths or any electronics, I'll wait. I won't pre-order. As a matter of fact, since I'm in a big synth market area, I might end up finding one used in a few months for less. I could end up getting one for $1000 or less. I just picked up a 6 month old Poly D for $300. I didn't need it being that I have one already, but I couldn't leave it out for the price. Hopefully Behringer announces a desktop of the UB-Xa within the next 6 months. That will definitely sell among the people with limited space.
People have been getting theirs already, this is a nice development for early Xmas for some.
I've heard a few demos and I am impressed.
I like that it has no fx and blends with stereo panning.
Sounds like the poly I have wanted for quite a while now.

I’ve been on Sweetwater’s UB-Xa wait list. Talked to my rep yesterday and he says they’re looking at the 3rd week of January to get them in. Can’t wait! But we’ve been waiting for this 6 years, so what’s another couple of months? As far as the price, I don’t know if you remember some time ago, B asked on FB what we think the ideal price would be. I said it would be great if they can do for a grand, that $1500 would be the highest they’d be able to push it, but that $1,200 would be the “sweet spot.” I’m happy they listened! I’ll be donating to the charity they suggested as part of the price drop.

I don't trust Behringer keybeds so like I posted previously, am in no hurry to get one.
The fact it has a cemented price and is available for pre order is only a good thing.
I do like how it sounds but I may prefer the module if ever released. It was teased a few years ago so it could go into production too.
I think it's perfect timing for all the naysayers, once it is in the wild, I can only imagine them finding more to complain about.
Most of them have no music or simply cannot make music and collect synths like furniture, only to be admired by afar.

You are very welcome. As for the keyboards, I get it. I also get some of the complaining about Behringer to a point. On the other hand I have bought very expensive synths with bigger issues than I ever had with a Behringer synth. So it's sometimes just hit and miss.
Like I say many times on my channel: People have to pick what is right for them and their music. No right and no wrong. If I don't like a synth I change the channel so to speak. I don't like every synth ever made from any one company. I pass on many different synths just because they are not what I want and/or need. That said, I could never ever build, make nor produce a synth. So I have no room to judge a company who can.
@@PureAmbientDrone I measured my desk, I can accommodate for the keybed size, but if the action of it isn't to my liking, I'll wait out for the module.
My Blofeld has the best keybed I have ever used, pretty sure it's a Fatar TP/9 from memory.
My least fav was the JDXA with that shallow travel. If I am going to put a keyboard on my desk, it better meet my expectations within reason.
Since Behringer has been working on the keybed for a long time and had finished it in 2019, I can only assume it will better their DM12's one.
@dankeplace Yes the BF uses the Fatar TP/9 and so I understand why you are spoiled with it 😉
This synth will become known as the "GameOverheim" and finally squeeze the nostalgia analog synth market back to realistic prices. Thank you Behringer! Still lovin' my DeepMinds.
I don't think John will be too happy with your appraisal, he only wants people to hate on Behringer, what is wrong with you?
Seems lately that Behringer has released synths, someone does a comparison with the original, and the sound (typically the filter sound/response) isn't fully there. See, the Pro-800 and the Pro VS mini.
After about a month or so, they put out firmware that fixes the filter and envelope responses to more closely match the original hardware. I'm wondering if that will be a trend. I've heard only one or two beta testers do videos where the sounds are, IMO, close to my old OB-Xa or even my Matrix 6. Most preview videos that show off the sounds, while they sound like quality analog sounds, the filter snarl isn't being shown off, which gives me pause.
If the recent past is any indication, I suspect a deep dive comparison which won't be quite there, then a firmware update, and then we will have the sound we hope will mimic those great classic analog Obie synths. Of course with nearly 6 years with over a year of beta, maybe it will be spot on right out of the gate. Looking forward to finding out!
In my opinion the sound does not need to be 100%. The Poly D was not bang on (still very close) and it sounds great! The desired feeling of the vintage sound comes through in the music.
None of the synths you mentioned were worked on or planned for 6 years.
The UBXa was, and that's the difference here.

@@digitaldiezel5870 I have several Behringer synths. Pro-1, Pro-800, Model D, K2 and two Neutrons. All sound really good. The key will be the Obie filter for me. It needs the unique filter and resonance response. I remain optimistic.
Disturbing the market. This is hands down the best synth at the price by a long shot. It might go down even further to $999

6 voice VCO synths with no poly aftertouch for 2 and a half grand, regardless of their heritage, are too much money. This synth will be incredibly good value, like legendary value
It's all relative, of course. The Behringer DeepMind 12 at $799 new (and cheaper used) might be a good alternative for those unable to swing $1,199. The UB-Xa is a real bargain, though, compared to other manufacturers' synths with similar capabilities. I'll be paying for my UB-Xa (when Sweetwater finally sends me one) in installments.
I think it's almost 1/4 the price of an OG unit, has double the voice count and a PAT keybed.
There is nothing in existence that offers any of this as analog for the asking $.
