What a story! Harrion really went through a full villain arc there. Considering his mostly altruistic personality, I posit he acted primarily out of concern for his people: he had already lost his brother, armies were marching through his homeland in the Neck, and there was no guarantee that Artos' foolhardy campaign would succeed. Harrion must have wanted to spare his fellow Crannogmen from Bolton knives, and-after the winds turned against them-to avoid the Lone Wolf's wrath. Being promised a castle probably didn't hurt, either, but he didn't seem like a self-interested opportunist. Of course, whatever the case may be, history will surely remember him as a loathsome oathbreaker and a gods-forsaken traitor. I think being a "witch" in the old gods' religion may be something like what Craster is doing, or what the legendary Night's King might have done-secret sacrifices to the Others in exchange for power and protection, desperately keeping the winter at bay while turning your back on traditional First Men values of honour and hospitality.
This might have been the most insane episode thus far lmao. Artos probably reduced the entire ironborn population by half via duels 😂😂. One thing I did notice was that Artos' prestige is back in the positives again thanks to all those duels, which you could interpret as the Northmen recognising Artos as a worthy leader.
I play with that mod in every playthough, there are gamerules within it, you can set a soft cooldown so you don't get like 20 events in 1 battle, i set it to 30 days cooldown, means that you can still duel people and stay reasonably balanced. There are some events that even give you commander perks, surprised you didn't get spammed with those.
I imagine that, rather than killing his brother so he could switch sides, the accidental death of Farlen is what pushed Harrion to abandon Artos. See, I think it wasn't a rational decision at all. After everything they went through, trekking beyond the wall, having to endure the cold and hunger, even occasionally being reduced to mere cattle wranglers, Farlen died from a senseless accident. And all for what ? Some kid who thinks he deserves to rule the North because he has the right last name ? They told Harrion that Farlen's accident was no one's fault, but Harrion disagreed. To him, Artos Stark was the one to blame and he WOULD pay for it.
I don't think that Artos would give Jessamyn a harsh punishment if he were to win the war. She's just a kid, and Artos might have some empathy for her, considering he was in the same position a decade ago.
What I think happened is that Harrion lost his brother and decided to blame you. Think of it from his perspective his kin were perfectly content and happy living in the neck likely without a care in the world then the Starks get their asses kicked and he gets put in charge of the last living wolf pup. Years and years of training and teaching that kid only to see him become friends with a very people that destroyed the wall and likely some relatives or friends of his but eventually I imagine it would have made a man pretty bitter when he notices how native the kids getting and then after all of that his brother dies falling off a mountain that he would have never even been on if the kid hadn't sent him off on some suicide mission to get support. It's twisted logic but let's be real this is game of thrones we've seen weirder
The battlefield reeks of iron and death young Artos had just won a battlefield duel suddenly he hears a scream and a squelch that's one of his men is slain he turns welding Ice in a wide ark only to be blocked, parried and hit to the ground with a backhand. Harrion: Come now wolf pup I taught you better than that. 😔 Artos: Harrion!? You traitor you killed our comrades!! Artos swings wild with Ice despite being trained with it his whole life and despite it being made of valyrian steel it was still a great sword better for execution then battle and Harrion's blade was made for it Harrion: I betrayed no one pup! I give up a good chunk of my years to raise you into someone who could rule the North and how do you repay me? By making friends with wildlings? I had friends and Kin at the wall. By taking us to Skagos? I lost a hunting party full of men only for them to end up meat on some cannibals plate. Oh and what of your blunder in the vale? Artos: What blunder in the vale? Harrion: Splitting the party.... You know my brother always believed in you he was one of your most loyal men. Whenever I doubted the mission, whenever I doubted Mormont, whenever I doubted you, he convinced me to stay on course and what did he get for that loyalty a slow death at the bottom of a ravine and for what?! Some arrogant little pup who thinks he should be lord of the north simply because of his last name?! Artos: I grieve your brother with you don't you think for a second I don't his death is weighed heavy on me since the day it happened. But you side with the Boltons this isn't even about who deserves to rule the North between us anymore you swore a Blood oath brother! Harrion: Eye that I did and your blood currently sits on the throne that Bolton girl is your half-sister as well as my liege Lord.😡 Pick up your sword Artos prove to me that you're actually worth all of his death. It's time to die Little Wolf. 😕 Artos adjusts his stance and focus is on his opponent. Artos: Winter is coming!
I'm curious to see if Artos takes Harrion's head for his betrayal and what he will do with his Bolton half-sister. Although they don't know each other, she technically is his last remaining family
I feel like the rest of the Northern lords who pledged to the Boltons would now surrender or switch sides given that the King is dead and their reluctance to fight and die for a child girl when the Stark army is winning every battle.
Well let me be the first to say I’m glad you didn’t listen because it definitely worked out better than I thought it would. Poor Garth though…man hasn’t lived life and is bedridden😞.
I agree that you've thoroughly won the war. Would be interested to see what you do now. I, for one, think you should keep the series going and rebuild the Stark dynasty while determining if you will be a Targ loyalist or a Blackfyre supporter. Love the series and appreciate all your work.
You still should finish the war legimately cause even if you wiped their armies it dosent mean that there isnt any bolton loyalists in for example winterfell. I dont think Harrion did anything out of spite or to betray Artos, so maybe once you win the war Artos should send Harrion to the wall instead of executing him and marry your half sister to his son to ensure his future loyalty and since she is a bolton it would give his son some legitimacy to rule the dreadfort. Maybe Artos practicing witchcraft is more to do with him starting to belive in the far northern old gods instead of it having something to do with the cold gods so maybe give artos a non-beliver secret or give him a secret of worshipping the far northern old gods.
I imagine Harmond way of leading is literally just taking all the horsemen and just Charging into enemy frays with such ferocity that they can't even react
Artos has now proven himself as a great warrior. Next he should prove his honour by showing mercy to Jessamyn Bolton and the young Lady Reed; a true Stark would not punish children for the crimes of their parents.
definitely give garth a barony in your capital county. the way i think about it is maybe he took a blow to the head that took his ability to speak and walk, but he is still alive and conscious and deserves a proper estate with servants to see to his needs.
Ice & Fury! We mourn upon all those Northmen who fought and fell for the North! We must remember their loyalties! We are definitely gonna need to raise some lowborn captains of great deeds such as Uthor into nobility!
I think artos wouldn't harm his half siblings, mainly because they share the same mother and the kid's father (forgot the name) wasn't a decent guy and maybe the kid's only protection was thier mother and she would rather run away with her kids like artos did than let harm come to them. Also, i saw that graham mormont was spurred by his brother in succesion, don't know what it means but maybe artos will give graham bear island. I also think artos's own wildling companions will take the old gods than than far northern old gods, and here is my reason for this- why would a bunch of wildlings follow some brat they don't know unless they were trying to escape something, what are they trying to escape from? Being sacrificed, remember wildlings sacrifice people to thier gods while the northerns don't. It also fits in with the story because the very first wildling recruited is a little girl (artos's crush) i think graham mormont saw that she was going to be sacrificed and decided to rescue her. The giant couple was also ran away when they found out they were to be sacrificed. As to why they didn't take the seven in vale. Its because they couldn't relate to it. They worshiped the trees and worshiping in septs didn't feel right but now that they have come to north, they see a less voilent and more civilized version of their religion and they turn to it. But they don't change culture, reason being - a culture is what you grow up around and what you are taught to act like. None can never really change to a completely different culture maybe a hybrid of thier own culture and the local culture but not a completely different one. Also you should try to get red rain in your inventory. I mean think about it if you captured a guy in war and saw a famed weapon would you just leave it for someone else to take, makes no sense. Artos should havr that sword, its only logical. Lastly despite being a traitor i don't think artos should take harrion's head. Like many said harrion suffered a lot for artos even going as far so to scrap for food and then his brother dies in accident and artos leads a what seems to be a useless attack forcing harrion to fight his fellow cronegmen, so maybe artos due to some old personal affection or maybe as a homage to farlen spares harrion life but keeps him imprisoned and once the thr night's watch is restored he will send harrion there.
Overall, it's a great comeback story for Artois. Moat Cailin is honestly an underrated goat for serving as a pit stop, passing the neck, and probably seeing which family is ruling there and maybe even giving them the neck, especially after the Reeds, Blackmyres, and Crannogman's betrayal and almost being the reason for Artos's loss in the war. Also, taking a ward from the Greyjoys for their actions to secure their compliance. I think it would be cool to have retribution against the Boltons by execution, exile, or means of ending their family as they tried to do with the Starks, and it would be cool to return the Royces with a message of thanks for nothing but we are still honorable or something like that. Also, using this as an opportunity to get support from the Targeryans, who lost to the Boltons, and maybe also help them win their war for concessions like independence or more grounded stuff like a council position and say in the peace deal.
You know it would be really interesting if you just ended up losing for trying to take Winterfell but the Boltons won because of the place's defensive advantage, it would be almost like Robb Stark where he won battle after battle but in the end he didn't win the war.
You have clearly won some impressive victories. But since the CK3 war system is so abyssmal i think its fair for you to "fudge" a victory if you manage to take Winterfell, or win one last large battle outside Winterfell.
What a story! Harrion really went through a full villain arc there. Not even 10 minutes in and Jon got killed and we found out Garth took a blow to the head that he will never recover from smh
I know that not far, I was looking for him do his thing.
Poor Garth😞
29:59 Artos childhood crush died
Also, I like the witch decision

I’m kinda new to the game, may i ask what is the mod called?
@ pretty sure it’s the better battles mod, works on normal ck3 as well as mod conversions

I think the same thing friend he doesn't seem like the type to go traitor for fortune and glory.
Bro raised his men at arms back up and left them in white harbor 😂

Bro I think I counted 11 or 12 duels😂, take all the titles from the Boltons and marry off the half sister, leave no Bolton legacy!
@@Sygraxes I wanna see the boltons get flayed LOL

I think Witch is really thematic with some "falling back to coping mechanisms he had witnessed north of the wall"
Sensational video!!! Outdone yourself once again.

I think I heard “oh come on here” at least 5 dozen times this episode.
Another amazing video and also this story pretty much the game of thrones story but with some difference and much early
After you guve yourself winterfell, id consider having the Iron Islands and the Blackfyres ally, and make them declare war for north after a while
your duels gave you enough prestige to be fine
Loving the play though, keep it up. Btw kinda liked the faster paced war honestly.

Isnt the Battlefield duel mod adjustable in game rules?
