I think trade and economy rebalance would be a good step forward towards merchant Republics. I also think some love for Asia/India and the Steppe is much needed.
Imma be real, i think if they did republics they are going to reuse admin govt. and since that came out just now they want to wait with it since it would feel to samey.
You mean, will and won't do. They can do whatever CK2 did, no reason why not. In some aspects they've innovated from CK2. It's all up to whether or not they want to implement certain features and mechanics.
For the court positions it'd be good if you could set up notifications for roles you want to be filled being empty, like the physician. Being able to choose which positions you want to be notified about would be great!
It might be interesting to allow for the option to automatically pass to the current holder's "heir". To both reduce micromanagement for minor positions and making court positions a tool in politics akin to a hook or bribe.
I am sad there's not republics this year. But maybe we still have hope for nomads. I think they mentioned that what they're adding is something that's been asked for for a long timeI wonder what it is?
@@aegorbittersteel2154 I think we get nomads, it should build on unlanded too good for it to not be what we get next year. Something we asked for a long time? Working crusades 😂😂

I really wish that the map was expanded to cover East Asia, many mods already do this and it would be great to make it official. Also the nomad dlc would be crazy with the rest of Asia.
I think there is still too much missing from the current map before then, but maybe that's why they are not doing merchants yet to give time to fill that out first
In my opinion, the snakes in the crown have nothing to do with the DLC for the game. It's just a teaser for the fact that 2025, the Year of the Snake, is approaching. The developers are hoping that the upcoming year will be even more spectacular and eventful.
@@Samuel-th6fw Wow, brilliant assumption. Previously, the game developers had never created themed artwork dedicated to an animal associated with the New Year. But now they’ve done it, referencing the Chinese calendar that indicates which animal represents the year.
@@ДимаЗахаров-г7д adding china might be a logical prerequisites to adding the silk road and trade or republics. But it sounds just so grand that I'm skeptical, seeing the "low scale" dlcs we have been getting so far.
@@penzorphallos3199 I agree, the DLCs for the game are released slowly and don’t contain a lot of content. However, in my personal opinion, this year things went better. I doubt it could have been done much better (though perhaps landless characters could have been given more interesting content. Still, I think that will be addressed in future updates and DLCs).
Console player here happy with the new team so far. Bought chapter 2 looking forward to getting sum of the content i been hearing about over the last 2 yrs
For the Major Pack I tend to think it will be either Nomads and Trade (they stated in the Forums once that they want to do it together and with Merchants coming probably in Chapter 5 it makes sense synergy wise) but Religion Overhaul and Crusades would also make sense as a Major Pack. They won't do both in the same chapter (would be huge though if they do as the Major Packs are the most popular aside of Royal Court) The rest is much harder to guess for what we got.
I hope they do a Religion Overhaul and Crusades Major Pack. It's Crusader Kings, they've done well fleshing out the King part of the game, now I need a Religion and Holy Wars rework. Let's get some Holy War events. I want to have up to 5 tenets. Let Ireland worship Irish Gods. I want Holy Orders to be expanded on and given events. Increase the Gods list so we can have more Gods for the polytheistic religions.
The only thing i can think of with the snakes in a crown is in relation to paganism especially related to Egypt or the Norse, it could just be intrigue artwork cause of the recent rework of it, but as one that really likes the idea of the pagans and secret societies one can hope for that being a teaser since they said they want to add more mini mechanics.
Honestly, im fine with it. My opinion always was that there is much more important things for the game than republics, like the deeply flawed AI (and by extension, the thing that gets on my nerves, the shitty crusades), and if they focus on the core aspects first, that's good. I wish there was more focus on peace time gameplay. Intrigue and stewardship just aren’t fun at all after the early game and it’d make more sense to need to have a consolidation period after a conquest or long defensive war in order to make the game more difficult but also so wars have a bigger impact
I could see non graphical community additions being along the lines of Rice, I think a good chunk of us like regional flavor packs however we’d rather the devs use the majority of their labor on main features and ck2 additions. I love that there will be automated armies now, if I'm doing an intrigue playthrough, i don't want to be micromanaging my troops on the battlefield when my character obviously shouldn't be.
@@TheKillaShow Then I deal with the consequences the best I can and move on. Plenty of stuff happens outside of your control in this game, you have to adapt to the situation. Legends of the Dead still needs a complete rework-we want our symptoms back and while the legend events are great, the fact that every legend gets them makes them samey. "Fallback's own flesh and blood" and all that.
16:44 the most interesting thing I see here is that qurdoba has 20 fort. I think that’s possibly normally but you would need a lot of things to make that work, so maybe a hint for some capital rework or something? I don’t really know but just to put it in perspective a MAX level holding gives like 13(if I remember correctly) so it must have max holding level and walls level or more likely something else is happening here
@ it’s definitely possible, just really wierd. The highest I have reached was like 27 or so. But still I don’t really understand why they would make such a high level fort, for a one off game that was just meant to test some new war mechanics. I just think it’s more likely that something changed about capitals, rather then some dev trying to maximise fort level just because. Also I think the physically highest you could get on a farmland without a special building giving fort would be 18-21 depending on the character who owns it, so 20 is pretty much as high as it goes so it just feels weird. It doesn’t seem like a thing that would be done on accident, it feels intended.
i loved the part how they spoke about plagues, like they tried to make it seem that it was balance problems only with them. Meanwhile remembering event spam from the first week about another plague coming to town this in game week
They never did mention republics in the dev diary, so it is entirely possible merchant expansion could later update, republic groundwork is already in so it is highly possible they add it.
Would love a flavor of feudal/administrative in China that lets you control cities, but not castles which in turn would be not inheritable and work like the usual appointments for cities work. A way to improve Legends, is to improve is to add something using the same mechanics as "Rumours", which would be less important and serve different reasons, as well as interlacing the Legends with Royal Court more.
Being able to become an Archbishop and have the pope have a special Theocratic Administrative system would sound wild. Voting in the new Pope. Use intrigue to make yourself pope.
I agree, adding a fleshed out administration system and entry/work grind/promotion system (like taking vows/becoming a priest and being able to climb the ladder to becoming pope one day), and maybe expand this across religions that have similar systems. Lots of possibilities, and it'd be pretty neat.
