Glad I saw this video, I received this Escort and the Alpha box set for Christmas. The Escort did need a gear change( 11 --> 9T) which was supplied in box. Runs much smoother now. The Alpha's were packaged with desired gearing (9T) from factory. The cars are beautiful and run great. Thanks for Dave keeping us informed. Cheers!!
Nice Video Dave,my Escort had a short body mount post, which was a pain, but i dropped small rubber O ring under the body post rubber, now the body is square for proper set up.
I hope somebody will do a Mk. 1 Escort in the Meissner Ford livery that was dominant in South African saloon car racing in the 70's, driven by Peter Gough. I saw him race at the Kumalo circuit in Rhodesia, and he lapped the second place car, a Lotus Cortina, driven by Peter Parnell.
To set the gear mesh, you need to loosen three screws on the underside: one as shown in the video and two on the rear support. This lets the motor easily slide back and forth.
Fantastic video dave, cheers for the setup information, you made it look so easy. To the work bench I go lol. Oh and who doesn’t love a wee Ford joke 😂👏👏👍
Great video, Dave! Exactly the fun experience of setting up a hobbyist car. The beauty of brm/revoslot in my opinion is the chassis; very efficient… not much to tweak after set-up which makes for consistent and cost-effective competition against others in the series.
I've got a few of the 911s & have noticed they are noisy... I'll have to try a different pinion. I don't think of that as a noise reduction thing but... makes sense. BTW, all my guys don't need a phone book to sit on... must be an Escort thing🤔
It's just what I figured I'd try first. Some folks had said that 9-tooth was what they were supposed to come with anyway. And I have a bunch of the SCX Pro pinions still new in blisters. I don't use 9-tooth pinions that much. For inline cars I usually will use a 10 because I like the feel of the mesh better.
@@SlotCarNewsOfficial do you notice any change in the performance with the change from 11 to 9 tooth pinion…. More torque? less Top end? Or do you even notice the difference besides the fact that it about half the decibels it was before…
The Alfa that came out first had a 9T. The brakes with a 9T are stupendously strong even on minimum controller setting so I changed the 9T for a 10T and now I have more control over the brakes and the car is more consistent and smoother.
@@SlotCarNewsOfficial Right on. But I just quieted down two cars considerably by placing a very small drop of oil on both ends of the motor shaft. I was impressed by the difference.

Thanks for the early look and the heads up Dave! Take care 🤙
Munchkin racing team 😂… great video Dave
Nice car, shell looks good in that livery 👍

Nice car, what’s the total length of the guide blade? Just curious.

Great video
Small tweaks seem to make a difference. Nice car overall..
Did you just take a guess on the 9 tooth pinion? or did experience tell you what to try? or did Google? LOL

@@twolinesslotcars yes much snappier performance.

Oil ?? maybe a little oil will help with the noise?
No, the gears have silicone grease I put on already. Oil doesn't stay put well on gears, oil is better for axle bearings.

My first two Revoslots were just as noisy. I was disappointed to hear such noise from a higher-end car.
You can change the pinion to a nylon type.
Or just do another gear like I did with the proper mesh.
@@SlotCarNewsOfficial What gear did you change
Metal chassis can really amplify any noise. I use sigma nylon pinions on all of my cars.
My Revo slot Marcos is whisper quiet on the track
