    Yum, that saurkraut salad brought the fish fry to another dimension. I never had that combo. Usually plain salted beets with a hunk of rye. But that apple and lemon with kraut, game changer. Can't wait for cookbook to arrive. Hopefully soon

    I can't wait to make this!! We call our non- Polish friends, Polish by injection... Lol, Everyone is Polish from certain neighborhoods, out and around Buffalo, NY ....more so, at Easter, and we're proud!!! Also, very proud of the help Poland is giving to the Ukrainian refugees!!!

    I'm with Mark. The only fish fit to eat has a VERY mild flavor and a coating with plenty of crunch. Yours fits the bill very nicely, so thank you for being so considerate. The sauerkraut salad looks wonderful, and I can't wait to try it!

    Can not wait to try the sauerkraut salad. I love sauerkraut and this is a easy salad to make and the flavor of the carrot and apple sounds delicious. The fish fry sounds really good, but I only like a few different types of fish, but will have to try it sometime soon.

    Mashed potatoes topped with a fried egg and served with buttermilk was a common Lenten Friday dinner in my household. Thank you for bringing back memories!

    Every Friday night growing up in Central New York, Fish Fry and Sauerkraut mix! YUM! My mother mixed the sauerkraut on Thursday or so, and whatever was left over, ended up on the table Saturday and Sunday.

    Hoping to get your cookbook for my brother. We grew up with a Polish dad and our mom learned to make some dishes from his family. My brother is a retired teacher and loves trying recipes. I know he will just love this book. I might have to get one too cause my husband loves to eat!

    Here in Michigan, my wife and I will have walleye most of the time, but I want to get my boat back up and running because I can troll for giant northern pike, which is very tasty if prepared right.
    I love the side dishes you make, but I have never been able to eat beets. I have the same reaction as some people have to liver. And I've had them prepared just about every way possible.

    What’s the best brand of sauerkraut to buy in the USA?

    • @PolishYourKitchen
      @PolishYourKitchen  2 роки тому +2

      I personally like Bacik brand, but it’s not everywhere that you can find it. Always look for sauerkraut with only cabbage and salt (water ok)in the ingredients list, no vinegar. This will mean (hopefully) that the cabbage soured naturally and it wasn’t processed with vinegar.

    Would you rinse sauerkraut before using?

    • @fatladyfarmer2025
      @fatladyfarmer2025 2 роки тому +2

      I personally drain it well but do not rinse. You would loose some of the tang which would be sad.

    • @PolishYourKitchen
      @PolishYourKitchen  2 роки тому +4

      I never rinse. It’s got all that goodness in it that I can’t send down the drain. ☺️
