    👍🙋‍♂️ love the videos, grew up eating this soup 🍲 😋 Thank the both of you. My grandmother and father on dad's side, Ukraine 🇺🇦 . My mother's side, grandparents from Poland 🇵🇱 hey Mark that make me mutt I very soup sometimes, slowly stirring egg, or,and kielbasa (love my meat) used to have purple hands , gloves easy on hand today from store (covid) God bless the Ukrainians, glad Poland taking in ! Saving lives .have to stop trying to text now 🙄

    I like bit size beets. Agree fresh beets no can, my mother loved onions cooked that way, God bless her 🙏🏻

    carmelize the onions with some of the thick cabbage, and puree, then add to the soup. yum

    The barszcz my mama made only had beetroot and the diced stems and chopped leaves were briefly sauteed and added to the diced beets in her homemade broth. She added some vinegar and brown sugar; salt and pepper. Never found such a recipe but when I first tried after she had gone to heaven, I was talking out loud wondering what to do and I believe she guided me through. Now I make it and it's always a hit with my non-European friends! Hope you had a wonderful Easter and that the eastern border stays safe.

      That could’ve been another beet soup that we make from young beets and stems, called “botwinka”, I have a recipe on my website and also UA-cam. 😊

      @@PolishYourKitchen Thank you Anna; mama always called it barszcz; never heard the word "botwinka." Come to think of it, she always made it in the summer and also used heavy clotted cream from our cows. Oh, those were the days, my friend....

    Anna, I received your cookbook last week and I can't tell you how much I love it. The recipes are wonderful and the photos are just beautiful. Seriously, I think My Family Table is going to be my favorite cookbook. I have already tried a few new recipes and look forward to working my way through the cookbook in the upcoming weeks. Our Easter table included potato & cheese pierogi, beet salad, carrot salad, and Babka Piaskowa. My family raved about each dish. Thank you for sharing your family's recipes with us all...     HAD SIMILAR in a Polish deli cafe here in Dallas area...was expecting what you just made via the menu... got almost no veggies... THIS LOOKS SO GOOD!!!!!!! THIS RECIPE WILL BE THE FIRST ATTEMPT OUT OF THE BOOK.....YUMMMM!

      The Ukrainian style has a lot more to it for sure. What you had at the deli sounds more like what I think of as a Polish style barszcz czerwony. Both have a fond place in my heart

    So good to see you again. I love borscht. I would try jarred pickled beets to get the tangy flavor,, or fresh beets. Both work very well.

    Coming from a family that is mainly of origin from that European region I grew eating these foods and love them. We cook alot of these as they are not available in restaurants. We are glad we discovered your channel

    Anna, Have you ever made a soup using green beans, bacon, floor, and vinegar. My Mother made this and I'm sorry I never got the recipe. She used the White Vinegar to make it just a little sour to taste. Great Polish soup dish served hot . Anna, that makes me think of my Mothers Beets Soup. I Hope you can tell me how to make the green bean soup. You guys are funny, Thanks for sharing. Love your Red Glasses.

    Can you do a vegetarian borscht? Also, I have never had borscht with beans in it. My Polish mother never made it that way.

    I want to ask you if I could make this recipe without meat? I don't really like meat but the soup really looks very good with so many vegetables and spices.

      You can absolutely make it without meat. Simply replace the beef broth with a vegetable broth of your choosing. If you are in the US I recommend "Better than Bouillon" brand, they really make a great product. Thanks for watching!

      I'm not sure if you know this, but at any time you might be accused of wrong think and you can be banned from your accounts. It's been happening for the past several years. And by accounts I mean all of them. To the point that banks, online processors, credit cards, Uber, lyft, air bnb etc are banning people for not even wrong think, just a lot of people reporting you for wrong think. You might think you can go back & look up your books but Amazon has been digitally burning books for the past several years.

      I guess that's better than paper! I used to get the yearly book of recipes from Cooks Illustrated and with flooding in my area I lost 20 years if paper volumes. So I'm leary of having books in paper though PDF is not easily searchable!
