  • All Kudos to Dillusion Man for his PDF explaining this; I don't have his soundcloud or any other stuff to credit him by; feel free to comment & I will add to the description.

Although I say that the filter frequency value in each frame is basically a LP filter - it does not remove as much top end as a regular LP filter. Also - during the vid the 'morph' setting should be at zero - my jog wheel is a bit dodgy....

That's quite good. I have same unit and know one of it's main advantages is knowing and using these more complex features. I've read the manual but it doesn't always give enough detail and usually the best way is to experiment, but that can take up too much time.
It's these type of filter settings that lead to new sounds and ideas. I like it.

Cheers all. It still throws up lingering questions about what the freq setting is exactly doing but I guess I am approximately there. I would like to know what the programmers of the EMU had in mind when they made this filter !?

i do not remember, so cannot you control all the frequencies from the cords? How then do you know that each time the filter settings will be the same?

I have a e64 running v1.20d and can't see this filter in the options. Do i need to update the OS to get this filter?

I always thought "Peak value was just a peak filter boost or cut at the frequency value as a center ... Am i right ?

have you fixed your jog wheel? its pretty easy to do, just get some pcb cleaner and spray into the top of the encoder. Let it sit awhile and then work into into the encoder by turning it.

      Hi Raj.
The jog wheel on my E6400 Ultra is not working properly. When i wind it in a certain direction to change the value it jumps from negative to positive, to negative to positive, and so on.
I see you mention that PCB cleaner can help, but I'm not sure where to put it. Do i need to take off the front panel of the sampler to get into the gap? At the moment there seems too small a gap to get any cleaner in.
      Thanks for any help. :)

thebroadcastuk hi, there is a Facebook group for the Emu, two actually, and i'd join if you can. Re the pot there is an easy way and a more complicated way. First thing is you need to have the panel off and flat so the encoder pot is pointing upwards. You can then squirt a small about of PCB cleaner on to bit where the shaft mates with the encoder, then work in that solution by turning the knob. The more complicated way involves turning up the 4 metal clasps and then the encoder will come apart and you can clean inside. Note that PCB cleaner is going to make the encoder feel like it spins more freely. If you want to lubricate it you have to get deoxit but PCB flux cleaner is a quick fix and you may prefer the encoder running more freely.

I'm not sure sorry :) I just made my own, you might be able to buy CDs of banks from ebay, but then you would need the CD Rom drive....

If you go to a website called Digital Sound Factory, the guy who runs it used to work for E-MU and has all those old banks and will sell them to you. He's also got them in different formats if you use any other samplers such as Reason Combinator/NNXT, Kontact, Yamaha Motif XF/XS and Sound Fonts. You will have to e-mail him to get the E4/E3 formatted banks though.
