Yes I wish someone would as coming from vst,s and moving to hardware it’s a different way of working....if anyone would do a overview of the emu sampler I’d pay
The filters on the EMU ultra series are outstanding. When you apply envelope mod on them, you get some sweeping tones that are just wonderful. In fact - many people used the EMU samplers more like a synth, having just short, single cycle waves and using the filters to add that all important movement. Might have a play with my E5000 on the back of watching this.
The libraries bundled with them are also a wonderful thing, getting the Proteus orchestral, the vintage keys and the classic keys at your fingertips with EVERYTHING adjustable... Oh the possibilities!
yes, e64 is underrated. it comes with ascii keyboard option by default, and the screen is a nice blue. however i have another e64 that has an off green colour screen and the lower amount of CPU flash ram, so i think there must have been some variations in the models available at the time.
This is a great video and love the sounds coming out of the e64. Bought myself a couple of them (one as backup), glad they're still affordable. This video motivated me a bit haha. Very nice. thanks!
ToneDetective I’d get a e6400 ultra tbh as you can take the eos to 4.7 and load wav files into the emu ( I got a floppy disk emulator) and apparently it has a few more features to like a few more filter types plus a beat mashup mode ...go to reverb.com and see if there’s any on there as that’s where I got mine bud
@@tonedetective9757 the ultras have a brighter more hi-fi sound. The older emus specifically the E64 and EIV have a darker, warmer sound than the ultras.
@@Mrlemidge I’m not the best person to ask as I’m new to this way of working.....had many vst,s until now plus I’ve been busy with other things so getting back into beats in the new year
LFO to modify filter resonance wont work with this version of EOS. It is set only at noteon. You can have dynamic variation of the filter resonance in Ultras.
There is Still nothing On the Market that Sound quit Like it ... It's a shame really . though I cloud imagine an MPC/Octotrack type of machine that sound like this Would Be Killer ... I keep on wishing for one but then i realise I have both a E6400 ULTRA and a E-Synth sitting here .. All I need is to stop being lazy and get on it more often ... your bottons and wheel are in much better shape I have to fight with both of mine samplers .
I bought an emu 4xt and I have all these sample cds... I think I need to buy an external cd-rom to load em... is that right?.. Can I connect the sampler to a computer as an alternative?.. or do I need the ext cd rom... Can i buy any cd-rom?.. what specs do i need to meet?.. or are all scsi the same?.. this is all knew too me... a beautiful predicament to be in I might add :D
its from a different era, before software like Kontakt was a thing. there isnt anything these machines can do that software can't, but the workflow is different, slower and in my opinion - more focused. they sound different too
Wish someone out there would do a full video series on EMU Ultra samplers! If they did and had a Patreon or something I would def subscribe!

Agree
I agree
Grooving g has a good one also

Finally a video on the E64. I'm lucky enough to have the manual but I never thought someone would upload a video.
Best rack sampler of ALLTIME as far as I'm concerned. Just magical sounds and features.

Yes magical.
What about the e6400 Ultra?
@@ushnicyuvnikof2748 Faster but more digital sounding.
Love the sound ❤
I have a 6400 midi'd up to my SP12 . That emu 64/6400 is a beast and very slept on amazing sounding sampler worth ever dollar I spent on it .

Good lord that is a beautiful sound... I have an opportunity to pick one of these up for cheap, very tempted
Buy it and stick a gotek into it! You'll love it, if you have patience...
Did you get it?
To top this off I use the Novation Nocturn to control my hardware. Makes the Emu so much more fun 🙌🏾
If you're still looking - I've got an E5000 ultra still on sale.
@@mondaygarden3655 I didn't at the time, but just picked one up finally!
Just got myself a e6400 ultra ...thanks for this clip
Is the e6400 more or less the same? I've been looking for an e64 but they're hard to find.

Good vid 👌
Nice one B. Been enjoying your HW sampler vids lately
@@GuyHarwood Nice one man, Just subbed! Looking forward to the next vid

id love to use this 808 in a jungle track
unfortunately I didn't record the output of the sampler
@@GuyHarwood well I should be able to make something similar
Great stuff mate! Filter resonance can be modulated only on note on event on this machines, not real-time like filter cutoff. Cheers
The ultras running 4.7 can modulate resonance as far as I know.
@@Mrlemidge the ultra is some 2,5 models later ;)
You can copy the voice, use different resonance settings for each voices, then use crossfade as destination on cords to modulate between the voices
Does that have the rfx32 card in it? Awesome 808 btw!!
This doesn't have an rfx32 card in it. Those cards are only compatible with the ultra range. This is an e64 which is from the previous generation
Thanks for this video! Where could I find this 808 sample? Sounds awesome!
its just a clean 808 from a Roland TR 808 drum machine. easy enough to find via google
Aa it's classic sample, ok! Thank you!

yeah a SCSI cd rom would do it. there are usually a few on ebay.

Cords?
those are the bindings for modulation sources and destinations in the EMU
