- "My Immortal" is a song by American rock band Evanescence from their debut studio album, Fallen (2003). It was released by Wind-up Records on December 8, 2003, as the third single from the album. An alternative version appears on the band's fourth studio album Synthesis (2017). The song was written by guitarist Ben Moody and singer and pianist Amy Lee when they were 16 and 15, respectively. Various versions of "My Immortal" were recorded, with the earliest in 1997. The version recorded for Evanescence's demo CD Origin (2000) was used on Fallen by the label against Lee's wishes, featuring Lee's demo vocals, a MIDI keyboard, and strings added during the production of Fallen. The song was re-recorded for its single release, dubbed the "band version", featuring a full band's performance on the bridge and final chorus along with a new string arrangement by David Campbell.

The fact that 80% of the reactors have cried to this song, is just a testament to its rawness
This is typically not my type of music, but this kind of God given talent is impossible not to appreciate. she truely has a divine voice
So many tears. I lost my true love also. It's been 18 years and I am still healing.
she lost her sister who passed at age 3---listen to the lyrics with that in mind--should bring more clarity and emotion to the song
I never fail to get lost in Amy Lee's eyes. Absolute perfection
I cant hold back my tears, its so beautiful
"Hello" is another sad song from Evanescence... underrated song imo
This song is a masterpiece.. going thru the emotions inside until letting it out towards the end .. very powerful
Welcome to the world of Amy Lee. This song kills me every time. And her voice is angelic. Beautiful song and video.
This is my favorite song by Evanescence. Amy has the voice of an angel. I've been a fan since day 1.
This is my favourite sing ever
Every time I hear it... every damn time I cry:
The lyrics, the emotions... gosh 🥺🥺🥺
Amy Lee is an angel. This song makes me cry every time. It always reminds me of my Uncle passing away when I was 16 years old. I’m 42 now and it gets me every time
Love this one! In 2005, the song received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals."My Immortal" has been considered by some media outlets as one of Evanescence's best songs ❤️
She has a voice of an angel you will remember her after this song❤
This song has different meanings for different situations. Have you ever lived with someone, that you loved, and you were still lonely? Or, have you literally held someone crying their eyes out, consoled them, assured them not to be afraid. I (and whatever is "upstairs") saved his life years later. Only to have the Pandemic take him. Nearly 10 years sober. Or, a son who doesn't care about your existence, when you sacrificed everything for him and his brother (his father could care less). This profound song says all that to me
Good respectful reaction. Her vocals and look are amazing. The band are great.
Their best song!
There is a live version of this that STILL gives me goosebumps. It’s amazing
No matter if Amy Lee is rocking out or singing a ballad that breaks your heart you know exactly what she’s feeling.
A great duet is Break In by Halestorm (Lzzy Hale) ft Amy Lee. It’s a powerhouse song with two amazing vocalists.
This isn't about losing a lover. It's about losing a sister.
yes--her sister passed at age 3--gives better clarity and emotion to the lyrics
I lost my husband and my 3 kiddos dad when he was only 35. I lost my dad and my aunt in that same year. So, yes this song hits hard.💔
❤❤sorry i feel u
My guy!... I'm a strong male Leo and her voice still makes me cry. Amy Lee is my #1 female vocalist.
Heck, Chris Stapleton's rendition of the National Anthem at the Super Bowl had me crying.
I suppressed feelings for so long that I believe it had a negative affect on my being.
Feed Love! Starve hate. 🤘
Great challenge to lose!! Must of us do cry!! Men showing their true emotions, makes my heart joyful!!! Nothing wrong with tears!!! Top picks..."Bring Me To Life" and "Lithium"! Great reaction!!🎶🎼🎵🎸🎹🥁🎤🎙🎧🤘🤘🤘
U gotta check out good enough by evanescence
Toca el alma, voz de angel, incluso el paisaje, barrio antigio de barcelona,la fuente de la plaza san felipe neri, aun con los tiros de la gerra en la pared.muy emotivo
My three favourite are-
1. Bring Me To Life.
2. My Immortal.
3.Everybody's Fool.
Incidentally all from the album Fallen and all one after the other, 2-Bring Me To Life, 3-Everybody's Fool and 4-My Immortal. Funny that.
Notice no other band ever tried to do this song as a cover. No one sings like Amy Lee. This is hers and hers alone
Evanescence is NOT the kind of music I usually listen to, but I saw someone do a dance routine to this song, got obsessed, bought the "Fallen" album and listened to it continually for weeks. Most of the other tracks are more heavy metal, but everything is really musical and Amy Lee's voice and the guitars are perfect together.
The song is actually about her dying. If you notice, her feet are never on the ground. Heavy symbolism
about her 3 year old sister dying
I do walk like how Moody walks around whenever I feel lost in relationship. End up at a place, be it home or anywhere that I'd be alone, thinking of what else can be done. That's how Moody's guitars sounds tells right at the end. While you think that the scream might go all over - it ends up telling you the cycle just got over and over again. My Immortal.
Love this one and Call Me When You’re Sober.
I’m a Pisces too😢
Love Amy Lee! This is my favorite :') I cry every time.
Her voice is haunting. This song is so relatable to many for many different reasons. Loss of a loved one by death or just the death of a relationship. When she sings, "But though you're still with me, I've been alone all the long" implies a relationship where one person is still holding on while the other is half way out the door.
her three year old sister died---
I dont listen to this song alot but if I do, it really gets me and awakes shit in me, which is why I guess I dont listen to it alot, but damn they made one hell of a song with this one, and her voice is as you said yourself, like an angle.
When Brian Adam wrote the lyrics your lonely night has just begun when you love someine this song highlights this ( just my opnion ).
Ninjas cut onions every time I hear this song.
“ Bring Me to Life”….period.
Amy Lee has an amazing voice!
Hey I’m a Pisces also! Lol. So that’s why this song gets me emotional every time
Pisces power!
@@FlixTalk 🤣🤣🤣🤜🏻🤛🏻
I Win 😁😁😁😁 great reaction to this beautiful song and angelic voice of the gorgeous Amy Lee, it's also worth checking out ' Going Under ' ' Call Me When Your Sober ' & ' Tourniquet ' 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Respect. Zero shame
Queen Amy. Check out Lithium, My Heart Is Broken and so many more.
For me Lihium is one of the best song along with Bring Me to Life and My Immortal
You should listen to her singing 'Swimming Home' :O
Great reaction to this wonderful song. Amy Lee is such a Rock Goddess!! Evanescence's catalog is excellent and worth diving into....check 'em out!! 🤘
If you want a "don't cry challenge", check out Monsters by James Blunt. Official video.
Keep up the good content!
Check out her heavier side with "Sweet Sacrifice" and "Take Cover" (livestream version).
Amy Lee is a GODESS! Nough said. J.
She's singing 2 sides... It's her addiction
This song was actually written for her sister who tragically died suddenly when they were very young.
Actually, that was Hello.
Bring Me To Life was there first song that I heard of them, you have heard it I'm sure. It was on the radio every day ten times for over a year, ha. But it was a great tune and Amy Lee has the voice of an Angel dude
You said I'm a pisces and I thought cute. I'm a sag but very empathetic and emotional as well couldn't hold my tears
I think it’s about pouring your whole self into a relationship and loosing your soul cause the other person can’t love you back
no--her three year old sister died---listen to the lyrics with that in mind--makes alot more sense
I believe that this song was about losing her sister. This is what I heard anyway.
amy lee would make a awesome vampire l love her voice she also be a wicked pretty dame in the video she be a ghost that hasna moved on it be why her feet never touch the ground
She wrote this song after her brother passed away
Nope
I pick up after listening several times that *_she_* is dead but doesn't know it. She thinks he is. Her spirit is locked in a permanent state of mourning her loss whilst he mourns his.
The clues: the strange (and beautiful) clothes she wears, the flowers in her hair, the bandages on her wrists (!), the fact she never touches the ground....
It's about someone who died
Lots of ideas what it's about... my interpretation is that it's a MOTHER 'losing' a child who has grown up and moved away from home. The grown child falls in love with someone, and the mother has to step back....
Are you related to Roberto Duran? You could be his twin.
Listen to Hello which she wrote for her little sister who died when she was tiny. Also Far from heaven which she wrote for her brother she lost more recently 😢
Great reaction! You probably heard "bring me to life" check out "going under" from the same album
Did you notice she never touches the ground! She’s a angel 😇!
I DIDNT notice that actually....damn...what songs from them should I check next>?
@@FlixTalk Like You from evanescence.,even in death (2016 version),seether ft amy lee. unlike popular believe,my immortal was random and not aimed ant anyone in specific. the other 2 i mentioned in this comment ARE related to the death of her sister. question is: do you have the guts do go there? since not many people do. as for my immortal and fallen (album) in general: how come we were allowed to even listen to such dark, depressing music at the age of 12ish!? funny how perspective changes once you turn adult and you start to realize how dark evanescence actually is 😆😅😂their first 2 albums were by far the best. another stuff i can recommand is Delta Goodrem, kfir ochaion, hes not just but also legendary on his guitare, his skills easily match that guns&roses guitare player
@@SNOOPY_- "Like you" and "Hello" are about a sister.
"Even in death" No. 🙂
@@mirekhalek2948 umm yes actually if you look at the lyrics and amy's own statements on it. Amy Lee says that this song is about loving someone so much that you'd bring them back from the dead. That song was a little bit of storytelling about not wanting to accept the death of your loved one and just going nuts-to the point that I would go out and dig up the grave. so yeah that actually has has to do with her sister

Lmao I’m a ♓️ too. Let’s not go there💀
Now don't get me wrong Amy is a fantastic talent and this song can certainly shed a tear or two, but if you want to talk about moving songs, look no further than 2 covers of the same song but you wouldn't know it from how different they sound. Somewhere Over the Rainbow performed by Eva Cassidy as well as Israel 'Iz' Kamakawiwo'ole's version are not to be missed, and I would encourage you to read up on both of their stories, either before or after you listen, Rest In Peace to both.
This isnt even the best version of this song.
I didn't realise there was another version. I'll try and check it out.
