Thank god I pre ordered the American version on Play Asia!
Capcom has done it several times on Switch in Europe with Resident Evil, Megaman collections, etc. That's why I haven't bought any of them. It also happened with the recent Konami's Contra.
@Madlittlepixel Thanks a lot. Much appreciate. Have a great day. 👊🏼
If you're already paying for and going through the effort to create and ship a game box, it makes absolutely ZERO sense to not include a physical game.
Especially with the disc-based systems. Those blu ray discs can’t cost more than a dollar or two.
I totally agree, but the concept of “maximizing profit” would like a word with you.
@@Gryzor88that makes even less sense. If people arent buying boxes, then capcom is losing money.
A physical version's appeal is to put a cartiages in a console physically. A box has appeal to absolutely no one. Imagine how much plastic, ink and paper is wated on this BS
@@teneesh3376It makes perfect sense for Capcom Europe, cause it’s expensive to buy thousands of proprietary cartridges from Nintendo. So if they can cut corners by including a stinkin’ code instead, they absolutely will.
@@Gryzor88 the loss of people not buying those empty boxes cannot be worth it. Realistically, the would lose so much more in comparison.
If they really wanted to save money, they shouldn't have bothered with the box. A literal lone code on the card is both cheaper and not pretending that it's a physical cartiage
If I get a code, I am issuing a refund. Code in a box should be illegal.
I don't think code in a box in of itself should necessarily be illegal, but the practice of not being forthcoming/transparent about it day 1 in advertisement should be. Its a modern day take on bait and switch and should be put under the same scrutiny as any other false advertisement tactic within civil law.
It should be illegal to sell useless plastic. Informed people don't buy it. Uninformed people refund it once known. So what is the point of making useless plastic boxes? Should be criminal with jail time
They'll probably won't take it because if you opened it they'll have reason to say that they have no clue if you redeemed the code. My advice is to wait and see what other people say. If they say it's a code, then boom, you've officially saved yourself from buying a code in a box.
Why would YOU issue a refund?
@@MrPotteeMouf because you are buying it for physical purchase code in a box is digital
you don't own your game digital they want to delete it they can with no consent cant take your physical version away from you
I guess they ARE gonna take us for a ride. Well our European friends at least. Big thumbs down Capcom.
Poor eurobros got the shaft.
Tons of people will still buy this though, whether physical, digital or a code in a box. Most of the marketplace for Capcom on this is going to be older people who game a little here and there that played MvC when they were younger and would like a dose of nostalgia now, and not so much hardcore retro gamers with an interest in emulation and nerdy hardware stuff who are principled about what they will spend their money on gaming-wise. This is how modern game publishers continue to get away with these scummy practices.

Europe didn't get a physical copy of the Capcom Fighting collection, however i live in Europe and own a physical copy of said game. Bought it off my regular gaming website that doesn't import games 🤔 so i guess it's just wait and see
No choice I got shafted indeed. Will import the game from Amazon US.
If this ends up being a code in a box for the US, I’m cancelling my preorder!
I still cant comprehend the point of pre-ordering.

Good for you
@@jetstreamdefalpha5411you can always cancel... and it sometimes sells out...

Dude that's so fucked up if they do that in the US, I purposely decided to wait for the physical because I want the cart not a damn code in a box
Or just emulate the game for free
It’s only the US version
@@therealjaystone2344yeah… at the cost of broken pixels and slow frame rates at illegal emulators.

I would just buy both. Regardless if it's digital you don't want to miss out on buying this game. If the box happens to be digital too which I hope not, I'm leaving that one sealed.

contra galuga for switch is card o code?
Say swear to God!!!!!?
@@26.2MilesOutsidePartsUnknown ...what?
I will never understand the "code in the box". It's wasteful and ridiculous. I want these games or any game on the cart/disc. I'm a physical game collector so it's shameful for any game company to cheap out like that.
waste of resources and shelf space.
Lol physical in general is wasteful and luckily it is dying
@SPG8989 Ubisoft CEO is that you?
It eliminates the purpose of the box, which is to contain the cart/disc.
This push by the industry towards an ALL Digital future absolutely Pisses me off!!! The problem is tons of people, mostly the younger generation think Digital is: "the best" and continue to support it cuz they're obviously stupid and can't seem to realize they don't own Digital Copies!
The younger generation don't have a care in the world and can't even count the number of moon the earth has. So there's that.
The younger generation are in for a RUDE awakening once they realize that their games in the library don’t belong to them when they get nuked by Sony, MS or Nintendo for various or random reasons. That’ll teach their limited intelligence.
Gawd… honestly the hate for physical copies pisses me off too!!! 😤
Agree with everything you said the all digital future Is nothing more than a farce and the idiots who defend it are apart of the problem they ignorant and Delusional.
These companies want the younger generation to get used to the digital future. They can do much with us older generations only slowly make us switch to digital.
"You will own nothing and support it"
The scamming industry
The Indiana Jones game has a collector’s edition, the most expensive version, has no physical disc… but the cheaper editions have physical disc… it makes no sense…
I guess they want to "encourage" the die hard fans to not only get the collectors edition, but also the normal edition.
They been doing that they give a fancy steel book case with no disc it makes no sense!
That's like buying a pizza but only getting a box, and it has a coupon inside
Yes, this is lazy on Capcom Europe's part
Say “No” to the code in the box. Regards from The Netherlands.
I'm boycotting Capcom. Code in a box is ridiculous. I was gonna buy but not anymore.
You’ll still buy it. It’s too awesome to pass on. lmao
NA and Japan are getting physical versions.
@@TheIllustriouBlueJaybut we don’t know truly until we see in the box
You won't! Sit down crybaby 🤣
Boycotting Capcom would work if they were the only publisher pulling this nonsense.
Man, that drives me nuts too. When the Switch is as old as the Gameboy it won't work without being hacked, I feel like. Most games require internet, day one patches, dlc, etc. playing a retro Switch in the future might not have the same magic as playing something like the GBA/GBC/etc does today. 😢
You had to realize most of the stuff on GBA and GBC still works today was because they are hack or mod. When parts gets stale, modder made homebrew parts, when a game run slow, modder hack the code or reverse engineer to make it run faster, when the lithium-ion battery ran out of juice, modder used a new one, when the buttons sticks, modder re-design and 3d prints new ones. Nothing last forever and those older device that still works today, they work cause of hacks and modifications so yeah Switch in the future required hacks and modifications to work just like all the older ancient hardware. All the disc based console no longer work cause their laser failed over time then modders made ODE requiring nothing more than a microSD card to make disc based game work again. NES games works and exist today because of hacks and mods, hacks and modding tools are used to dump roms and preserve them, the same will apply to Switch games in the future and new patches will be made to preserve complete games.
@@VOANThat was a wall of nonsense. The OP's point stands. You don't need to mod anything. Original gameboy original Super Mario Land cart. Get some batteries and insert the cart. The end.
@@VOAN if a button sticks, you open it and clean it not 3D print a whole new button. If a laser dies, yes you get can get a replacement fitted, this isn’t considered ‘modding a console’.
And “when a game run slow, modders hack the code or reverse engineer to make it run faster” seriously wtf 😂 game speeds or game quality don’t degrade as a physical cart or disc age, just clean the contacts or cart if it doesn’t read properly or clean or resurface a disc, but again the integrity or performance of the game is not affected only the readability.
I think you’ve completely confused yourself. The OP made a very valid point about internet downloads being required to run games, and this could cause issues in years to come for certain games.
You’re talking about hardware and media that this issue doesn’t affect whatsoever.
Switch is such a garbage console. That is why I stopped buying any games for switch in 2018 because of this. Scam system!
"Code in a box" is just basically buying from the eShop with extra steps..
just buying the digital game in a plastic box when you could be playing it digital today
I was actually planning on getting this for the switch because it was physical. This is actually deceiptful. I'm so glad you made this video. I'm definitely not getting it anymore.
How is it deceitful when it literally says CODE IN A BOX in the tweet and will also say that on the box? It’s your job as a consumer to research this stuff. I don’t feel sorry for any of you basement dwellers.
@Rountree1985 it was only announced on the EU Twitter page. Also, I'm not sure if you know how to read, but the Amazon listing says nothing of it being a code in the box. So do you need to buy it to find out? Deceiptful. For future reference, insulting someone because you disagree with them won't make people like you more.
I'm from Europe. If it's a code in a box, I'm bying it from North-Amercia.
I also recommend Play-Asia as a backup store just in case they have the Japanese or Asia version but it's in multi-language.
I also recommend Play-Asia as a backup store too
LOL is Crapcom serious? What's even the point in buying the physical version when Capcom themselves routinely sell
digital copies of their fighters for $15 or less. I'm waiting for the USA western version but I ain't wasting my $ if the 'physical' version is just a code.
Follower from Spain here. Is freaking nuts when you see where the videogame industry is going with all this pro consoles and physical games that are no more than packed air.
If you hate modern gaming so much, stop playing and buying modern video games.
@@Rountree1985 I do not hate modern gaming, I hate being sold a physical copy of a game that is not physical at all. Consider reading twice before replying.
Nothing annoys me more than these game boxes that don't have the disc/cartridge and has the slip of code paper. Like bruh, it feels like a slap in the face seeing that. I thought we were done with this Capcom. Not cool
Capcom really is “gonna take you for a ride!"
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I insist. MAME and Flycast. Screw Crapcom.
The emulation is cornholio and Fightcades netcode isn't nearly as good.
Yep emulation is the key.
Capcom did the same when MvC2 released for the PlayStation 3. I’m just glad I didn’t sell my PS2, XBox, and Dreamcast physical copies.
yeah i remember this. hence why i dont want a digital only version of the game.
If they really are just gonna put a code in a box, what would be the point of them making us wait 2 months and 10 days later to give us the "physical version"?
Hopefully this is a mis wording in the tweet from whoever is in charge of the account.
We need a live unboxing to make sure.
It’s not a mis wording. Other companies have done this with many other switch games. You will simply get a code in the box, no cart.
@@SilverTesterno you don’t. It’s from the official CAPCOM Europe Twitter account. You’re getting a code in the box if you buy the European (PAL) version.
This is the equivalent of mailing an envelope
The general populous: "We can finally buy physical copies of the old MVC games so that Disney can't take them from us again."
Michael Rodent: "Lol, wana bet?"
Big part of fighting games is bringing the disc/cartridge round to your mates so you can fight each other.
Pick up and play, co-op games like this should always be physical.
Why do players have to wait until November if it's not physical?! I'll cancel my preorder if this is true.
If it was just a code in a box, why would they delay it 2 months after the digital release? Every other collection had a cartridge
As a US🇺🇸 player this angers me knowing that are gaming brothers in the fighting game community across the pound 🇪🇺 are getting screwed if this is true that's totally unfair
Nice words, thank you. But don't worry bro, we will just import. Cheap enough these days.
Is anyone surprised about this? Capcom has been doing this bs for a long time. It started on ps3 when they did a physical release of mvc2 that was a code in a box and later with DuckTales remastered which was a code in a box then got a disc release a year or so later. And the various collections on switch where half of the game is a dlc code with only a small portion on cart.
Only few people are not (surprised) . It is a sad, frustrating fact that most people never learn anything.
I was 120% done with crapcom ( ESPECIALLY , the fighters) after what they pulled with ultimate mvc3 (on PS3) and functions vs functions.
The first time that this happened to me was for Duck Tales Remastered for PS3. It came with a code and a collector's pin. It eventually received a physical disc release as well.
What makes this annying for switch and also makes the switch’s portablity kind of null is the fact that if you have multiple switches like many people do, you cannot play a digital game offline on a switch that is not your “main switch.” However, using a physical game cartridge makes this problem disappear. If this is true for the US, and I assume it is going to be, it is going go be another annoying issue for people who want to use their og switch to play on the tv, and bring their switch lite with them on the go.
I mean I just Hotspt off my phone to sign in
@@Cloudstrifehy3 I know that, but the switch is supposed to be able to play games offline. Plain and simple.
What fukin bullshit!!! Dude all these goddamn companies have lost their fukin minds!!! This world blows!!! FTW!!!
why i started getting into new hobbies and haven't looked back. i still game...but i got plenty of old games from childhood and old games i got used that I enjoy. life moves too fast to even finish the old stuff anyway. These days getting better stories reading books, more multiplayer fun with board games and table top stuff etc. I don't miss not buying the latest games anymore. It's over.
@@DannyP-dm1pw I've been planning to move on over to board games but holy crap their prices are so inflated and they have just as many expansion packs as video games. I wanted to get Zombicide which is like Left4Dead as a board game but the base is over $130 & the expansion packs are $85 a piece just for some paper & cardboard.
Relax, there dropping the physical at a later date
@@LardLadEdibles No you don't get it. The physical they are dropping there in November is that. A box only with a digital code. Right now you can buy it digitally but in November there you can buy the box only with a digital code. Did you watch the video?
@@LardLadEdibles You do realize they drop physical boxes (like Square has done and even Activision) where you open it and it's just a code...or a cart with half the game and the rest a code to DL rest. That's what he saying here.
Years ago, people would throw away the box once they got the cartridge, because it was the cartridge that really mattered. That makes me shudder now, but that's how pointless it is to sell a code in a game case.
European law requires them to specify that because we have better consumer laws and they need to specify that so a lawsuit can´t be filed, in US there is no obligation for that, Capcom is not willing to spend more on cartridges for this game, a nintendo switch cartridge is more expensive than a bluray. It's all about profit margins.
They've pretty much guaranteed that I won't pick up a game I was looking forward to.
Dude just get digital
Here in Europe, there is many like a lot of games are being released with - code in the box -. Ridiculous.
I'm going to be pissed if US version is a code in a box for switch. Especially since I pre ordered it on switch and bought digital on PS4.
Current day Capcom…
They never changed…
And then they’ll complain about a spike in people who would have otherwise purchased it sailing the high seas.
USA will get the cart. they will have to import. those switch physical channels "lets get physical" mentioned this awhile ago. but yea thats always stupid. I may skip switch 2 if they keep doing these stupid codes, or only put half the cart. The sameway ps5 pro turning people to PCs, imcomplete switch carts are turning me to Mobile PC /handhelds like ROG ally.
Looks like I’ll have to keep playing these games on Saturn, Mr. and Dreamcast until November
What's next? a physical release that is just a pamphlet with a code on it?
Well if buying isn't owning...
I think capcom should get confortable not getting money from consumers...
That's the spirit. Never allow companies to get away with lying to your face. It IS NOT a "mistake" on their part.
Why would anyone waste effort and money for just a empty box
The one thing that we can all agree on. We all get companies got to make money. There is no point or realistic benefit for a code in a case (if you are that one weirdo then power to you my weird friend). Gift card style codes, sure. This method of codes in the box just screams cost savings and get the unknown buyers or limit options to get the profits higher. If it is spelled out beforehand to the average consumer then ok maybe. But to come out after preorders saying oh btw, no. Should not be a surprise of purchase that you actually only bought a digital copy when you expected physical media (disk, cart, etc.)
We want a physical copy so they can't take it away again like they did before!! (I'm in Europe)
Luckily my brother goes to the US regularly for work so I can get him to pick one up for me.
This game is listed as 3.2GB on Nintendo's website....Capcom was too cheap to buy 4GB Game Card's from Nintendo???? Just say it's digital only on Switch if it's just going to be a plastic case and a code inside of it....that's so stupid and wasteful...
I mean, box games are almost always cheaper than the digital downloads. If I pay $40 for a boxxed game that only has a digital code, that's still $20 cheaper than what was on the e-shop.
This especially applies to Nintendo first party games. If a game was $60 at launch, boxed will be $40 in a few weeks/months, but digital will be $60 until the end of time with basically no discounts ever.
They push the hell out of digital only, but make it cost so much more than buying physical.
@@borrisg4972 But physical media also has advantages. You can just pop the game in and play it. You can let a friend or family member borrow it. You can sell it or trade in for something else. You can buy it cheaper used at a game store, thrift store, eBay or yard sale. Plus, the biggest advantage of all. In 40 years from now, you can still play the game without resorting to piracy.
It's reasons like this that I'm proud of the hackers that keep the ability to play games after they've been delisted etc
Don't let anyone shame you for that. It is them who should get screwed.
Capcom hates Europe. They stopped making physical games for Europe at some point during 2018. The last one I could find was Street Fighter 30th anniversary collection. The only exception was Monster Hunter Stories 2 which released recently but we never got the Monster Hunter Stories Collection physically
This reminds me of when Lorde released CDs for Solar Power, and they were touted as being eco-friendly, when it was essentially a box with a digital code in it (just like this Capcom collection). What's the point then? If I'm listening to the album digitally regardless, then I may as well just stream it on Spotify for free. Plus, shipping millions of those plastic cases with single use shrink wrap packaging doesn't seem very eco-friendly to me lmao
Because of this video now I am reconsidering pre-ordering the MVC Collection for Switch. I intended to, I read a bonus comic book would be included. Now. I don't know.
They did that with the PS3 Version of Marvel Vs Capcom 2. They better not do it again!
You will own nothing, and when the servers shutdown, YOU WILL BE HAPPY.
And, yet, some people refuse to learn.
Crapcom making a stupid decision?
Must be a day ending in the letter Y.
Looks like the Europe physical version is going to be in the bargain bin.
And many gamers, cried me a f***ing river, when i said that i won't buy old games, for 40$ to play it on next gen hardware but here we are.
If i want to play those games, i own them on the Sega Dreamcast or Sega Saturn, i can play them there, and i did it recently on the Sega Dreamcast 25th anniversary.
Or emulate them too in caze you don't own them physically. The point of a physical copy is to OWN the game, not a key installer or a code in the box that can be compromised easier than a disk or cartridge.
If people wanna play this with "modern hardware", simply use a modern controller and bluethoot it into your PC. If they want to play online, there's Fightcade for that already. If they want a fancy empty box... well, I really have no solution for something like that. At that point, why no just empty a random switch game box, print the MvC collections artwork, put it in the box and be done with it? Because that's literally what the European "physical copy" is... just paying for a full physical game instead of a pretention
Marvel vs Capcom for Dreamcast -$75
Marvel vs Capcom 2 for Dreamcast $120+
X Men Children of The Atom for Saturn -$80
Marvel Super Heroes for Saturn $160
I think I’d rather pay $40 for this than the prices there. If you owned them since they came out it’s a different story, but no one should be running out to buy the old games at those prices when something like this is available.
Hello from Moscow, Russia!
You hit the nail on the head on "codes in the box." Indeed a waste of plastic. I feel for Europe because no one knows how long the MVC Collection will be in the Nintendo eShop. It feels like a slap in the face for anyone who waited years for this collection when physical is becoming a thing in the past.
"All over the place, all over your face."
Remember when i said "don't be surprised if the next console systems are digital only" pay attention to what all these gaming developers xbox has bought, and think about what netflix did when it first debuted. Playstation Now had the right idea but at the time, internet wasn't strong enough to stream games. Pay attention to what netflix, hulu, disney+, HBO Max, Paramount, etc, has done to movies and tv shows, and this is what gaming companies are going to do with all these video game titles in the future, just pay attention because internet access is getting better and better especially since apple showed that a triple A title can run on a phone
That reminds me of when I got a physical copy of a pc game (the first dead island) and when I put the disk in installed steam had me login to my account then added the game and then downloaded it. When I looked through the disk afterward, it only had the steam install files and the needed extra stuff like directX files. Last year I finally wanted to play the first destiny game on PS4. It was the same way. Had a disk. But you needed the "code in the box to play fully" I got 2 new unopened copy's just to have both codes hit me with a "this code has expired" msg. That's what is going to happen. There will be all these un sold games with CODES that are un redeemable if not used within their designated time frame.
Man, and then companies complain when no one buys their product and rather pirate. I mean, who wouldn't pirate when you literally own nothing? It's even worse than NFTs because you get the illusion you got something ready to play and then it's not
This happened to me with Tomb Raider and Resident Evil 6. The box said pc, everything seemed legit, and then it requires you to install steam client and you need to redeem the code to your account. I felt bamboozled and scammed.
This is a prime example of two sides to a company. There’s the developers and the distributor/publisher. The developers knocked it out of the park, as they usually do. But the publishers really dropped the ball, here… as they usually do.
I want this game and if it happens to be a code in the box I will not buy it. I always thought that was the dumbest thing ever.
TBH until the tweet I was pretty sure we weren't getting anything physical for switch in Europe, there was literally no pre orders for it anywhere in the UK at least. I asked Capcom Europe support and they said they didn't have any information at the time then this happens, I think they didn't want to do a switch physical over here but after us complaining did this a bandaid fix which isn't what we want at all we a physical with everything on the cart, it this isn't the case in the US then I'm probably going to import it.
Is there a way to do a class action lawsuit?
Go touch grass
Lawsuit for what?
In America? You’re funny. Corporations bought the court system. So, no…
@@Ghostyx1989🤡
Unless a game is too big to be put on physical, the whole practice of putting a code in the box needs to be abolished.
I'm from the UK and see the European physical on Playasia, nowhere does it state code in a box. I was going to preorder, but I would be so pissed if it turned up as a code. Think I'll preorder the US version provided it's confirmed be a actual cart.
Has been a known fact for a while that switch version in europe wouldn't exist, only digital.
Buying a "physical" game with only the box and a digital code is like buying a book cover and having a digital download code inside to read the actual book.
A cover/case for your e-reader using the artwork of the book bundled with an e-book download code doesn't actually sound too terrible. I'm surprised that's not already a thing.
But no, I know that isn't what you meant lol. It's absolutely bullshit in your original context. Like others have said, it's also like an empty pizza box with a coupon for a free pizza.
I might have to cancel my pre order...
U got the Europe one?
Don't just rant here.. do it! Cancel it. Show THEM.
Considering that pretty much everywhere is aware of downloading games and that game cards are available in stores, this should be considered false advertising.
I swear I feel you man but it's like we're having the same feeling that those old geezers had when the newspaper started getting smaller😅
It's smaller AND they only print like twice a week! WTF!?
The newspapers got smaller and they are like tissue paper now, so thin!
If you're going to charge me money and withhold the game... I'm going to withhold my money and get the game. Piracy here I come.
We recently had a Nintendo Direct and showed the release date trailer and was stated that digital releases Sept. 12 and physical on November 22nd....from NINTENDO DIRECT. That means we are expecting that release date info of physical on November 22nd, or else that would be false advertisement from BOTH Capcom and Nintendo. I think this is ONLY in Europe. I preorder BOTH Switch and PS4 and I BETTER have them ALL physical.....OR ELSE......!!!!🤨😖
Let's recap our options:
1-don't spend money, don't buy.
2-buy digital, pay the same for less.
3-buy physical, old school.
4-get scammed. Buy a plastic box with the digital content. I don't get it, but there's a market for it.
5-change systems if it's multiplat.
It’s just my disc in A box, a disc in a box babe. Step one you put a hole in a box. 2, put your disc in that box.
See I'm wise enough to know when a gift needs giving, and I got just the one
November 22nd but a cartridge, there'll be none
Gaming Industry: "Hey guys! A slip of paper is still physical, you can hold it in your hand!"
As I have said on many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many occasions if I'm going to pay the prices for these games that come out I better get a physical copy I want the digital crap if I want digital that's why I got emulation
disgusting! Just as you think Capcom was doing something cool bringing these classic awesome Marvel games back out and then they do this.
The consumers in EU should send their capcom division a framed picture of 60 lb. Lol (or whatever the currency may be)
I remember buying Half-Life 2 for PC and it was also just a code in a box. Actually, there was a disc in the box, but it was just Steam installer. One rationale is that retail presence increases sales, so it's basically an ad. But retailers are becoming less relevant for gamers to shop for games since they just go directly to Steam and online stores now.
I believe the Wukong devs did the same thing and Mortal Kombat 11 for the switch was the same way
No it isn’t. I have MK 11 on the Switch, and it’s a physical copy. Who told you that?
Not knowing about MK11 specifically, but there are games which at least in Europe get a complete first print, and then subsequent reprints are code in a box.
@@CodyLeeFree I bought MK11 for the switch from my local game store and it was just a code in the case another case of only getting a code was when I bought the CE for Sonic Mania on the switch when that first came out
I absolutely HATE the destruction of physical media.
Compliance and thoughtlessness from the others on this planet is to blame
9:42 "they never said that. They said physical" So I'm authorized to pay with monopoly's money by saying "I'll pay with physical money"
Remember buying the Marvel vs Capcom 2 debacle on the digital store and one day it decided to show an error message stating that this purchase no longer exist in the store. Haven't trusted digital since.
I'm not pre-ordering this until it's confirmed the box includes the cart
dude im so happy this video is barely 3 days ago because i was super confused on this whole mess because no one really talks about it. i bought 2 games for the switch, "Super Street Racer" and "mario +Rabbids" as a birthday gift to a friend. And got called up a day after letting me know that there was nothing in the box. He even thought i had taken the games and just gave hin the boxes and wanted to let me know i didn't have to give him a present that he was still greatful for the friendship. when i thought about it i knew something wasn't right because both games were sealed "never opened" and asked him to check for a code or something but there was a huge problem. he thought it was just recycleble garbage since there were no games inside!!!!! damn Switch games why the hell you had to make it hard for the people like my friend who are not so good with technology!!!?
Congratulations, Capcom. You shot yourselves in the foot (Or should I say "Feet") yet again.
George here from Australia 🤘🏽Code in a box is disappointing, times are a changing and fast digital here we come in full strength
I'm planning on buying the physical Switch copy... this had better be resolved.
I’ll be canceling my orders if this is the case for us
It better not be code in a box over here either. We will riot at Capcom USA headquarter if they did this considering the first Capcom Fighting Collection physical edition for Switch was not a code in a box.
If US verions turns out to be code in a box too. Please heave a wet turd at capcom office on my behalf.
If they don't disclose it being a download code, they can be sued for false advertising.
Imagine the utter disappointment of opening up an EU version of MVC: collection and seeing no cart. I accidently bought an AC collection digital-only from bestbuy and returned it immediately. I never understood the empty box w/a code in it.
Calling a code in a box physical is no different than calling a gift card physical... what bothers me the most with the way Capcom handles these collections is even when they include a cartridge like with Resudent Evil and Mega Man collections, they still include a code to download the rest of the games from the eshop, I can understand being cheap and not wanting to include a bigger cartridge but at the very least make the additional data work as an update dlc like the Batman Arkham Trilogy, this way you can use the cartridge on another system, borrow from a friend, buy it used, sell it, etc.
For this game in particular there needs to be a path to get a physical copy. I still have my Dreamcast discs and they work but Disc rot is a thing so I believe Switch physical media would have the most longevity. Can't say the same for switch hardware itself but we will see.
When whoosh applies to a company not understanding why we want physical baffles me.
Capcom in general hate Europe for Switch games, that have been like that for years. If we get a Capcom game as a physical, it's like a bigger franchise like Monster Hunter.
I noticed that, i'm pretty sure a lot of their collections dont get physical releases in europe.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I think there is a reason most codes are sold on disposable cards. Making a whole plastic box for a code is just wasteful.
