Coquihalla - To Those Who Risk Helping
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 лип 2024
- We live off the Coquihalla Hwy. Bridges were washed out all around us. Storms continue to hit us. There is no way to drive from our home to town, it's been 16 days. Mike and Ute are also stuck on this portion of highway with us, in their motor home. Matt and Allan brave the steep and slippery hike in over a cliff to bring us groceries. Mike & Ute work out a grocery drop at one of the washed out bridges.

God bless these great people for helping their neighbors 🇨🇦
I don’t think enough was explained about the person that brought you the groceries-Us locals know you’re cut off from getting your own groceries but how far did the gentleman have to come from to bring you groceries? Praises that man-thank you kind sir for helping out those who need it!
With a moustache like that you just know he means business. Respect.
Your vlog is better than CBC, and other news agencies. Thanks.
All the best to Mike we were camping together in September in Coalmont recognize his ATV and the motorhome we were the next campground down all the best Mike stay strong
I pray the flood will ceased soon so that the workers can fix the road. Thank goodness your brother brought you food supplies. God bless him and hope all the ones that are stuck there will be ok.
Yes! What we need to do is constantly focus on the good in people and dismiss anything else!
Thanks for the update -- good to see that people are managing with the help of others -- all the best from Ontario
That's so awesome great work guys! 👍
Thanks for your excellent coverage. Hope you continue with updating on the progress!
Cute pup.
Stay safe and warm everyone.
Good job everyone.
Very impressive - you're a hearty & resourceful bunch & not bad surfers. 😁 Rooting for your quick return to normal, stay safe out there.
So glad your family is doing ok. 🙂
Great to see you positive progress there. Keep safe and active. Here in Ontario we are genuinely pulling for you.
We look so small compared to the devastation
This is a heart warming video considering the context
Great to have that help. We are soon to be cut off by road as well.
It's a good idea with the mafia blocks on the floor like that to catch the rain falling off the bridge
Just realized how boring my grocery shopping is 🤐
Team work. Nice job Mike. 👍👍 Seeing these people and communities helping each other makes me proud to be a Canadian 🇨🇦
Love it: "Hwy 5 Jessica Bridge. Bridge Deck Renewal Complete Fall 2022 - Value $12 Million". Gives you an idea of how expensive the repairs on the Coq will be!!
I’d like to buy a ‘B’…
I kinda wonder if they should reinstate the toll on the highway again for awhile to help (if not outright) pay for the repairs. I'm happy the toll is gone but I was also fine with paying the $10 to use the highway back in the day.
That contract, like many are suspect. That project has dragged on for too long.
12M for a bridge deck, what a joke, Same jokes pulled off in Langley 56th ave between 240 and 246. months or road closure and millions spent on a few sheets of sheet piling. Several years back a bridge replacement over a creek on 232 ave and 68th ave, road closed for over a year for tiny bridge!!, millions spent British Colombia is rife with corruption in the construction industry that rivals South American countries. Gasoline, political and legal influence, and rampant drug gangs The new Mafia is having a good life here. BC is the wild lawless west, We have some real assholes at the top.
I just feel so bad for British Columbia. I watch “Highway thru Hell” and “Mud Mountain Haulers”. You kind of know those people and the territory thru the show. Even though I’m American 🇺🇸, I love 💕 BC and sure hope everything and everyone will get better!! 🥰🥰🥰🌹🙏🙏
🙂
We are all family ♥️
Things are getting scary. Ty for your thoughts. This is only December. It rains here until at least April.
I watch them too. Driven past Jamie Davis towing in Hope during my 2014 visit. I hope the HTH production company does some shows on the flooding and the resiliency of the locals there. In fact it was HTH that inspired my 2014 visit to drive the Cog to RT 97C onto Kelowna.
It is good to give the LORD GOD all the Praise for your good fortune ...amen....
I really in-joy your reporting / updates
I can feel the sarcasm just oozing out of this comment lol
Mike and Allen saved the day. Another ACTION packed episode awesome work!!
Thanks for the update
Thank you for all you are doing. Please stay safe.
Many folks have moved on with their lives after these storms, but you stand as a reminder that folks are still digging out of the mess and rebuilding. Nearing Christmas and many folks lost everything they had when those water flooded in their homes. Thanks for being out their working hard, busting your asses in this cold wet environment to get that road back on line.
There's such great people in the world. Love seeing you and the people helping you out. Shout out to the crews working on the highway too!
Congratulations on 11k subscribers. When 1 watched the first video more than 2 weeks ago. You only had 1800. I think people in Canada and around the 🌎 like your raw real reporting on the progress being made on the coca-cola. Thank you.
"coca-cola" heeeh. well we do call it the Coq for short! (pronounced 'coke' obvs)
@@crowfoot1199 sorry my engrish is not very good. Lol. I will correct it. Thanks for the lesson on how to sprell correctly. Haha
Love the new nickname of the coca-cola highway. It's easy to spell too.
@@tilltheend7902 Hey, don't worry. Many Canadians who drive this highway DO call it the "Coca-cola" highway.....
@@belindamelville7756 I agrey. So maney poeple out they're, who are conserned abiut that. Unless you are righting a medical or other technical article, it's not that impotent. 🤔 🤣🤪 Besides, try reading Chaucer sometime. He doesn't bother with silly things like speeling the same wyrde the sayme way twice.....
I was thinking that you guys should set up a gondola system going across the river where the bridges are out so you can get materials back and forth
I hope the Othello road is repaired to visit the tunnels in the future.
I hope the highway is done before summer, we’re going to Kamloops this summer.
Excellent reporting. Our thoughts are with you all in the zone of devastation. The spirit of the good people is unbreakable even if our infrastructure is otherwise.
People can be awesome..... we need more of that going around!
I get all emotional watching your updates! You guys are doing a great job!
Thank you 💗
The plywood river surfing at the end there! I need more back story on that one!
Lol. That was my second time the time before was on Ruby Creek at flood height.
Excellent job of reporting, thanks for doing this, really appreciate the updates.
Did Mike get his chicken wings 🤔
Deadly moustache! Awesome!
thanks for your effort really great footage you show
Thank you for these updates. 🙏
When you're well prepared and you've got the tools and skills to take care of yourself, it's fun getting stuck once in a while!
Keep up the great work!
All of you stay safe. God bless
Great reporting!!! 👍👍
Stay safe and hoping the weather lets up for you folks.
Great advert for Helly Hanson..... they should be sponsering you
We can’t get enough of your updates! Team work at its best, stay safe guys👍
I guess there’s a break for a couple days now so hopefully you guys can get a leg up before the last deluge they are calling for next week.
It sure is good to see you folks are holding out okay and getting supplies, I love the dog into the video and the updates are great. take care
Another great video and good to see everyone is ok!...thank you for posting.
I'm wondering what's going on with the train tracks and the ability to bring product past BC. Tnx for your videos definitely informative.
You are all amazing. I’m in Australia 🇦🇺 and about to be hit with some mild storms compared to what your going through. Awesome videos as always. Stay safe, you’re family need you
The heavy rain’s are done but now comes the snow. 🙄
On the bright side, you've kept us all informed about the road conditions, the changes in the landscape, and how it is to be self sufficient. I've learned a lot! Keep up with the good work!
Can you please check on Mark at the Coquihalla Lakes Lodge. He is a interesting man and I am sure that the viewers would love it. Thanks
Lol "Back in the Day"
Even with all the water and damage I have to say... WOW you have an awesome life...I loved the pics of the fellas visiting bringing groceries 😁 stay safe 💞 God bless
It's not going to be long to repair this, should take a week or two.
I love back in the days that’s when we weren’t too smart been there done that😂🥃 from Ontario
I’m from Ontario too. Been in BC for 7 years. This is devastating.
im from fernie BC bud, didnt get hit nearly as hard as you guys out their, you guys take care out their. hope help gets across to ya soon
Saying hello from Michigan!
My Sis-in-law (Canadian married to my brother) has family who are in the same situation as you somewhere in the BC area.
I remember our conversation early on...me reassuring her that people would pull together to make sure no one went without food and here you are giving us the play by play, in the rain, in the dark on one helluva scary bridge platform. UNBELIEVABLE!!
Hopefully we get a break from this rain for a while now. I see snow in the forecast now :/
Love the Aussie Sheppard just being an Aussie and always helpin out, keep up the good work fellas bit wet down under with la ninã coming through again but nothing we can't handle, " Bitta water round up your way though mate, good weather for ducks ey!!" Cheers fulla
Awsome.guys good work! I'm from british Columbia vancouver.
Gee couldn't ask for better timing seeing as the bridge was set for deck renewal in fall 2022.
Love these updates. Good to see the floods didn't wipe out the 'stash. Could to do a video on who you are and why you're there? Unless I missed it on an earlier video. Good luck and take care.
You're doing a good job boys. Much love from South Berta ❤
Thanks
Team work right on. Stay strong fellow humans.
Appreciated 👍🏻
Thank you for the up dates .Time dry's things out 🤔p.s. at the end what was that surfing .
You guys are going to have some cool stories to tell your grandchildren.
Dear God,🙏
When we were praying for rain in CA, we meant California. Not Canada.
Please forgive us for our confusing abbreviations and, if it's not too much trouble, could you try aiming about 1,000 miles SSE next time?
Thanks a bunch and AMEN
It's funny the guy said he was interviewing strangers but clearly they know each other I appreciate the footage just not the acting
Two steps forward, and one step back…..⛈🌧 🍻.
If your mothers knew you guys were playing jungle george on the bridge back then…….oh boy! Lol.
Your family is a real blessing
Lol. I missed seeing the end of this but my neighbors saw it and said "Hey!! That our neighbor!" Funny
someone needs to bring you guys some steel cable you could throw up a cable foot bridge pretty quickly using a big drill and a bunch of logs string 2 cables across for hand rails then use those to pull the log and cable walkway across then weave a cable between the floor and the handrail joining it all together
...Cheers...
holy fuk Metal Mike surfin the rapids is incredible! Heart goes out to you guys
You folks can sell that water to California.
Yup, new pipe line comin up.
You’re doing a great job at this. A real natural! Keep up all your hard work and thank you!
Excellent work, another great video, well planned and executed. Use of maps will help build the channel, remember those viewers from around the world, they need information on the scale of life in our part of the world. Very happy to see Mike and Ute working out a grocery run. Looks like everyone dodged a bullet on this last series of rain fronts. Connect the segments and keep working on your editing, channel building well !!
Back in the day lol!!
thanks to all
i hope you all have smokes and beer.
Thanks again for the updates. Stay safe and God bless. 🙏🏼
👍🍻
When’s Mother Nature going to give you guys a break? I feel for you guys and I’m just south in Washington state down by Lakewood. The rain has been relentless up there and northern Washington but down here not so bad. Sure hope you get a break soon. You’re Happy Holidays aren’t so happy.
skip the dishes level 10 :)
Fall of 2022!? That's a long ways away.
How long till the coke will be open?
1:39, times 100, lol!
Is the sowaqua dirt road fucked? Theres gotta be a bunch of logging equipment stuck back there
Watch our previous videos, we have one on them bringing their equipment down.
Bonnie Henry thinks you need to wear a mask and be vaccinated to help.
What's the repair progress?
How have you managed all this driving with presumably limited gas supplies? Are the distances just that short or did you have a reservoir of fuel on hand?
Once the snows hit, I don't see how it will be possible to hike groceries and supplies in. Maybe with skis and snowshoes.
Have you thought of evacuating?
