It really does a good job of filling the blanks while hes running off one side and the next rather fast and skipping cutscenes. I usually don't like RPG speedruns but this one i like specifically because of that
To be fair, if you’re thinking of speedrunning a game, you’re probably not gonna be too concerned with the plot since you’ll be blazing through it. Want the plot? Casual playthrough.
@@blessedstellaronhunter I usually prefer the plot be ignored, if it's a game I haven't played casually yet but want to. That way I can be entertained by the speedrun without worrying about spoilers. At the same time, I love awful games being run and the runners, at least attempting to, explain the plot. Those are games I'm not going to play casually in the first place, so no worries about spoilers
It takes a great couch to have an entertaining 5hr speedrun but the brit on the left does a really great job on keeping the mood up and engaging without being annoying or a sperglord.

The only change that I would like in a sequel... Is to give attention to the story. Like, the story is OK like it is now, but the only problem I have is that... There are no real reasons for the characters to work together. You go to the village and recruit them, but why would them join you? Even worse, why would you go to a village which is far away from your objective? I think I have the solution: you can play all 8 characters separately. If they do this, you could make them go through the map, going to their separate objective, and then meet each other in a not forced way. Then you could decide if they separate or work together any time. Also, there should be more interactions between them.
I wouldn't mind like 10 more octopath games. I love the mechanics just wish there was more content, secrets, endgame contents. Im absolutely in love with the graphics and mechanics I crave lots more 😭.
Only 15 minutes in but the commentary is stunning; lots of info delivered very smoothly, everyone seemed very comfortable with each other, fun stories mixed in. Very well done, great run!
An absolutely amazing run and fantastic, stellar commentary. clear, concise breakdowns of strats that make it simple to follow along. almost makes you wanna try yourself. Jelloknifee did a great run here, excellent commentary from the couch too.
so as an update : this run actually made me want to try speedrunning this game myself. so far im actually doing amazingly well, following along quite nicely. still learning the route but will be doing real attempts soon. This is one of my new fave runs in recent history
another update - Ive been using this video as a guide to help me get started at speedrunning octopath galdera and currently I'm at Balogar 2:38:03 , and i'm full speed ahead. just gotta get the two last special jobs and then on my way to finishing my first galdera playthrough. Once I finish my first galdera playthrough, then next comes actual runs. This is the video that got me started!!
There's a bid war for any of the eight single stories at GDQ! And we did a community marathon race to complete the eight single story runs in sequence.
not only that (and the journals) but if you have Alfyn in your party, Redeye is more likely to use Unholy Elixir to heal. I've actually beaten the gauntlet and read the journals, and one of them explains how Redeye is Graham. I then got instantly destroyed by Galdera since I used my weaker team members for phase 1 and none of them had the secret jobs. Secret jobs were all for phase 2, which I didn't get to.
Spout all the pretty word syou like. You know the truth. She will never again know the happiness she once did. Why do you rob your sister of the hope I offer her? What else does she have but that futile wish?
She still has so much more, whether she sees it or not. Every tie you have to another person, small though it might be, will help you rise again when you have fallen.
I was once saved by her kindness... and her love She pulled me out of the darkness I had shut myself away in. This time, I will save her! I will not lose to you!
I had to look up how to beat galdera 2, because galdera 1 was tankable with 9999 overhealing, but galdera 2 can hit for 7k times 2. Galdera 2 needed sidestep Theresa. XenoX ghostwalker breaks the game again.
I started this game without looking up anything cause I like to explore. I choose Tessa 1st then Terrion, Cuyrus and Hannit. I'm going to do Olbrics story next. With 8 characters many diffrent ways to beat the game havent been seen yet in a speed run.
I’m on 105 almost done grinding everyone to 80 got their weapons but still need to get good armor and finish the skill sets for primrose and Therion Olberic, Cyrus, And Alfyn will carry
Literally me. I've started going around the map, making a checklist of the area to document I've cleared it. Don't want to look up how to progress but did all the stories a while ago and have 4m leaves etc
For galdera 1 you can tank the dmg by overhealing for 9999, patience helps with dmg because there is a doom mechanic. Galdera 2 is a joke if runeblade theresa stacks sidestep on the whole party. Just kill the women who casts spells asap
Casually it's fine as long as you do either Sorcerer or Starseer first, which makes the others easier. Those two have the easiest 'cheese' strats casually.
A LOT of RPGs, this included, base "random" encounters on when you step where, as well as other seemingly unrelated factors. Random number generators typically rely VERY heavily on player button inputs, sometimes even taking their timing into account. So they have a solid enough understanding of how it works to know how to get the RNG to do what they want. This kind of thing is all over RPG speedruns and it's magnificent.
You can knock out those pesky NPCs that stand in front of houses, guarding them so you can't get in. There are often hidden items you can pick up and more NPCs inside you can buy or steal from.
Apologies if i missed it but was it explained why does the runner occasionally save and quit to title menu only to load back into the same save? I had the run playing in the background while i did other stuff and occasionally tuned back in on and off so i didn't catch everything.
@@nightmareoktopus3640 Oh wow, that's a thing? No wonder he seemingly was able to run thru numerous zones without an encounter. I know he has evasive maneuvers equipped but his encounter rates were bonkers.

When you took 80 hours to beat Galdera and see this.

4:38:32 - All the buffs jello mentioned on Tressa's wind attacks are:

x1.5 - Peacock Strut
x2 - Alephan's Enlightment
x2 - Aelfric's Auspices
x1.5 - BP Eater
x1.2 - Augmented Elements
x1.5 - Elemental Aid
x1.25 - Dreisang's Spell
x1.6 - Tradewinds Spear & Primeval Bow of Storms

Yeah, Chris Niosi voiced both of them.
Interesting to come back to this run and see how different the strat is for galdera these days
Lo q me gusta de este juego es que es extremadamente rompible pero eso gracias a tu habilidad jugando y creando combinaciones destructivas
