you noted that Partitio and Agnea can recruit NPCs using their Allure and Hire path actions but Temenos and Ochette can do the same thing with Guide and Befriend, right?
Neat little thing I noticed. Different weapons equiped actually have different sprites. I gave Hikari a steel lance and it looked like a basic naginata, then I upgraded him to a trident and his lance attack actually used a trident. Same thing with Throné and different daggers.
6:12 Actually, there are four characters who can hire people; Ochette and Temenos are able to recruit people through path actions as well. Matter of fact, there are four Travelers that can perform any one Path action; Two during the day, and two at night each.
One thing I liked about it here in Octo 2 is that all of the travel banters even the ones of the travelers you didn’t see that chapter are saved in your Journal at the end of a chapter, also you can play all branching paths.
First time Octo player. It's nice that you made a video filled with so much valuable information that I have to watch it again on half speed. Thank you!
What do you mean? That's clearly Partitio, setting out to fight a totalitarian with silver hair and end racis-ehm, to end the "devil they call poverty"
I now wish to see Three Houses characters in the Octopath artstyle But to clear up any confusion, that guy up there is Partitio. He's this game's resident Merchant, and is on his way to fight the CEO of poverty :3 He does really look like Claude here, though. Threw me for a loop tbh
Hopefully you're still planning on another tips and tricks video because id really love an explanation on path abilities that's more detailed. Knowing what npcs to recruit, capture, duel, and so on for a most optimized playthrough would be soooo helpful.
i also reccomend evasive munuvers i had that it made getting the shrines alot easier jsut save at a save point and walk to where the shine is in if u dont egt there in one shot reload and try agian make sure u are on day as well the encounter rate is lower in the day.
Soulstones can work and I do bring that up in passing but the issue is mainly that you'd need a Medium or Large soulstone for it to instantly defeat them. Otherwise, they still run the same risk of running away.
If you go to the Abandoned Waterway dungeon between New Delsta and Cape Cold, you can find ice elementals that always give an Almighty soul stone when you steal. Two per encounter. It’s like danger level 20 so it’s not too dangerous. Good place to farm those for later cait and puff farming and also to unlock a second scholar licence. Great videos, btw! Thanks for making them!
This game seems to be a lot longer than the first one. I was 17 hours in before I even got all eight travelers. I’m not taking it slow or anything. I do stop before each town get everyone up to their next level but that’s about it. I haven’t ventured out to explore or anything yet.
Major tip for everyone who are just starting out. Be careful what you sell, as you may need those items for certain quests. It'll save you such a headache if you're careful on what you're selling. Another tip is not to be afraid of exploring higher level dungeons for those very powerful items that they hold.
I wish I`d seen this tip before I sold stuff I needed haha 😂 I had to go and hunt them down again for one of the job skills. Oh well we live and we learn 😆
I generally only sell the meat that I can harvest from the hunters capture skill which makes needing money kinda obsolete.. I also sell old gear that is no longer needed and adds to inventory clutter
Those items that has a description "will fetch a high price" are considered junk right? are they meant to be sold? just starting out with the game and Im loving it!
The only thing I hated in this game was spending 30- 40 minutes fighting and the entire group getting wiped out in a blink of the eye even they were all at full health.
I am super greatful to you for your fantastic tipps and tricks video. To the point, very well explained and helpfull. Just made a subscription and thumbs up. Thanks
From the trailers, I was convinced that they were going to be adding firearms as a weapon type, perhaps along with a new elemental type for symmetry. It was a bit jarring to play through an Old West America scenario where guns didn't exist, only to walk a few screens south and then play through a Sengoku Japan scenario. Not as jarring as those societies being close to each other on the same landmass at the same time, though.
I recommend throne. She’s a monster with the right gear. Speed so high, plus thief divine skill, plus merchants two bp start. You can one shot everything in one attack, aside from bosses.
Best tip I found is when you are stealing with throne, or seduce stealing with Agnea, similarly with inquire also, you can STOP the stupid quip after you do it and back out of the path action menu by making sure the path action you just did is not selected as you back out. I get it is supposed to add more character, but i am sick of hearing "I'll be taking that" or "I'll take good care of that" or "THANK YOU" 500 times as i path action any and all character in existance. Hope it helps others.
Hikari breakmaster... I want to say yes, but the same for Ochette too. And I think late game, Ochette is more interesting that Hikari. Her "beast magic" is free and have a lot of buff and debuff too. And she can throw 3 beast in one turn. Yes hikari's learned technics goes over 9999 while Ochette's beast are stuck. But they mainly serve to broke shield or buff/debuff. And for dps, well... Ochette Armmaster is as dangerous as Hikari's armmaster. Plus she can hire people to help her.
Great video! I got stuck on Octopath 1 but am determined to play through 2. I just need to use these and other tips to maximize my playthrough and try not to end up banging my head against a wall too much. 😊
This game is too much for me man. Like Castti on my team is equipped with a broadsword and has higher physical attack than Ochette, but Ochette will hit for 1,000+ (with her axe on axe abolities) and Castti will keep hitting random 1s and under 100 damage for sword techniques, despite her broadsword. She has the highest physical attack in my party for sword abilities and yet she sucks at them. No clue what I'm doing here
The cleric guy I don't know why I can't remember his name right now but he can also have a follower and they will fight in battle for you as well! :) I enjoyed the video thanks for all the tips.
Temenos 😂. Couldn't remember for the life of me. But anyways I haven't tried it yet since I only have 5 characters but I wonder if you can have all 3 followers as once? I have temenos and agnea. And they can both have there's at the same time.
@@mattm2915 the more i play the more i dislike agnea, also to the og commenter i haven't played the first game so i have nothing to base it off of except this game

They don't add anything to the story right? I can't stand the cringe in those dialogues so I just skip.
@@SmickyD some of them are more grounded and directed to the story, others just fluff in between.
Oh I've been trying to figure out if this is the case or not. Thank god, was worried about missing out. Thanks mate.
Something are important to know like Castii's noble family and her real name.
I wish there were more Octopath 2 guides like your video. It's straight to the point and chock full of useful tips explained in a clear way.

For the part with rare encounters, ignore all of the advice in this video. Just use a soulstone as soon as you see a cat or octo
Soulstones can work and I do bring that up in passing but the issue is mainly that you'd need a Medium or Large soulstone for it to instantly defeat them. Otherwise, they still run the same risk of running away.

Yeah, cowboys using polearms and bows and arrows was odd. Which is still the least strange thing about Partitio's backstory.
Aw yeah we’re to basics baby! LETS GO!
I recommend throne. She’s a monster with the right gear. Speed so high, plus thief divine skill, plus merchants two bp start. You can one shot everything in one attack, aside from bosses.

I believe it is called 'Flirting'; not seduce stealing.
the only tip i got here is that you can fill latent powers by resting at inns. never realized that, rarely use latent power outside of bossfight

67h and a few protagonists stories to complete and gear to obtain.
Sadly no ng+ and dense post game
Latent is pronounced with a long A sound.
Isn't there 4 travelers that can recruit? The cleric guides and the hunter befriends
Yep, you can recruit with Partitio, Ochette, Agnea, and Temenos!
@ZeShado The vid just mentioned to 2 so I wanted to double check. Still working my way thru the chapter 1s lol
Already 27 hours (yes I do play it 9 hours daily) in but I still haven't met a single cait lmao
Sadly it is luck of the draw but I hope you find a cait eventually
3 hours into the game and i got 2 cait sith encounter with Throne as starting char, sadly since it's still a solo party I cannot kill em
if you have access to hunters they can help with that encounter rate, there maybe be something else too, but spoilers

What about those octopus looking thing isn’t it an equivalent to a cait? Those thing flee when I attack them in the demo lol 😂
Use the magic items to kill them. The medium ones are the easiest.
There's an accessory you can get fairly early in that actually increases the odds of one of those little octos appearing as an enemy.
