I unfortunately had to employ this very technique on my last outing. My guest was attempting to remove the kitty by grabbing it and wrestling the hook out with his fingers. He was quite stunned and amazed at the simplicity and effectiveness of this method.
A dehooker is an invaluable tool here in Florida since nearly every fish wants to sting, bite or cut you. If you don't have one, get one, you won't regret it. You literally never have to bring by-catch into your boat ever again. Trust me when I say, someday by-catch will ruin your day on the water if you have to handle it every single time. Tight lines.
Most of the sail cat I get in the Treasure Cost/Melbourne are huge 1 to 5 pounds. How do I go around using the same tool, I got one and have not being able to use properly once.

Awesome videos as always. Keep up the hard work. Your channel is incredible and an inspiration for all the new UA-cam like myself.
It looks great for lip bites how about showing it work for deep hooks?
What is that chunk still on hook - is that the bait or part of the catfish?
Exactly my concerns!!
Bait
@@dysongermany9087 I hope so
The replay is a different fish. The first fish had no bait on the hook. The second fish on the replay has bait on the hook.
I’ve been doing it the wrong way the whole time haha. Thanks guys
ROFLMAO. I'm getting one of those because it is going to make fishing more fun. Every fish is a flying fish.
That is a tool worth having!

So it takes a big chunk on its way off
That was the bait
My hook is in my thumb. Can this be used to remove it, too?
Try somersaulting your hand away from your body like how he did the fish
Those Gafftops are excellent eating. There's plenty meat too.
Tastes even better than a red. I'll never release a slot gafftop.
Thanks for watching!
@@Saltstrong thanks for making videos to watch! I've genuinely learned so much from them which seriously upped my game.
Where can we buy these?
Sooooo what if the fish swallows the hook?

The look on that fish's face

"call me joe one more time mf"
His poor lip the 2nd time 🤕
Why so quiet Luke? Lol You didn't even say hi.
at 1:39 it looks like he ripped part of the fish mouth off and it's on the tool
I think that's just the bait they were using since it was already outside its mouth.
You just toor up that fish throat, nothing friendly about this
