PXGs are the best feeling irons I’ve ever had no doubt about that. Good video comparison it will always come to price and some people will hate PXG without even trying them regardless it’s sad really without even giving them a chance.
Ive been using P790s all season and after trying the 0311t Gen1 there is no comparison apart for forgiveness, yes the P790s go further but that is down to loft, but the looks and the feel of the PXGs is amazing, to the point where I'm going to buy a set
Always enjoy your video! Fun test and great that you went retro. If you have the money why not get PXG. They’re soft feeling, look great and perform. I agree that the hollow irons without the foam sound too loud. I’d be interested in a PXG XF vs Srixon Z585 vs P790. That would be the top distance irons with feel...imho. Thanks again!!!
Michael, correct me if I’m wrong but there is a significant price difference between these two irons. PXG makes a great product but they ask some serious coin for those things. Great video
Think the PXG is slightly more than double the already high price tag for the i500's :-S Then again, a set of irons can easily keep for 5-10 years so *shrug*.
I game the i500 and love them! The pxg is triple the price of the i500. I don't know about you lot , but I'm not gonna pay 5 grand for pxg irons. They have caused all clubs to go up with their ridiculous pricing!
How the durability on the finish of the I500's? I hear the satin finish they use wears easily and look super damaged in a short amount of time. Have you seen this? Looking forward to your reply!
Pxg irons are NOT triple the price, they don’t cost $5000. In fact, with many of the discount programs they offer for students, hero’s, etc....the gen 1 irons have actually been almost the same price as the pings. It’s silly to exaggerate to make a point, glad you like your pings, but the PXGs feel like nothing else I’ve hit, they feel like a super soft blade, but in a forgiving head.
Good day Michael. I had just previously watched your review of the Ping I210 vs. I200 irons. It seems the I210 is carrying as far for you as the I500 and PXG0311T in this video. Could it be that the hollow irons really aren't traveling any farther than standard irons? Great videos and thanks.
Appreciate they're not super easy to come by but wouldn't it have been fairer to test the 0311P version which is more equivalent to the i500? Great vid anyway and it was interesting to see the spin numbers for the I500's being that high since other reviewers have seen the spin around the 5k mark with the 7i. Obviously depends on speed and how you strike the ball but still.
Sir TogII the other reviewers often compare the stronger lofted set. I see a ton of reviewers comparing 7 iron in say i500 with 7 iron forged cavity back and the 3 degrees more loft in the cb will generate more spin...no duh. The descent angle ease of hitting the club are most important. Just like on this video his dispersion rate with the Pxg vs i500 was large. The pxg clubs seem to not be as accurate as the i500s on most reviews of course they don't hit enough balls from enough different clubs to tell really.
Hi Michael, I just reviewed one of your previous videos as a comparison. The Mizuno MP18 MMC admittedly with a 6 iron at 28° so 4° stronger. These both seem good clubs but based on a comparison where you were hitting the MMC 18 to 20 yards further, it appears the better club, for you anyway. Tony
You failed to mention that you hit the I500's significantly straighter. For what the PXG's are priced at, I'd be pissed if I didn't hit every shot perfectly. PXG is selling an expensive load of marketing crap, IMO. Their ads should say "Nobody tries to charge what we do, PERIOD!!"
Not that I'll be buying them anytime soon but to call PXG a load of crap is pretty silly. They've got the top engineers in the business and the quality of their products is not in question. Whether they are worth it is a different matter. But then again is an Audi worth it over a Skoda? Hugo Boss over Primark? Evian over tap water?
@@sirtogii5216 My apologies, I left out the word marketing before the word crap. My intended point was that PXG don't seem to make one hit the ball one single bit better than other quality irons.
And you are perfectly correct in that point :-) Of course it's a marketing exercise. Since all drivers have already reached the max limits YEARS ago and any claim that they go further is a lie, and the irons have reached a level of loft that simply makes no sense anymore since all you do is put a number 7 instead of a 5 (10 years ago) and you end up needing 2 or 3 gap wedges just to cover distance gaps...you need to come up with something else to justify charging money for clubs. What PXG do well in my opinion is that they won't sell you anything you haven't been fitted for, i.e. they are very careful with their brand. Of course all brands have fitting days and encourage getting fitted but it's not a requirement. I think they're clever, pushing exclusivity rather than volume at low price. They know they can't compete in that saturated market, look at Nike's failure. But obviously in order for it to work at all, the product has to be as good as the best clubs out there, which they seem to be, or at least I haven't heard anybody complain or seen any evidence of it in reviews.
Sir TogII Great honest reply, I bought PXG of Michael I’m not wealthy but golf is my passion for over 48 years. What gets me is people who hate or dislike Pxg without trying them, your spot on about the car comparison but you could compare any quality product ie Rolex watches, to Casio etc etc. Anyway well said I totally agree with what you have said.
@@geordietoonforlife.1155 Well said Golf is my passion aswell, I currently P790s but after trying the PXGs 0311t Wow they really are amazing and I couldnt find any difference in terms of forgiveness. If you either cant afford something or cant warrant spending that much money on a set of irons you cant say that they are overpriced. They really are a fantastic set of irons far better than P790s.
Used my I500s for over 150 rounds on the same par5 club course and they still look clean. The course is meticulously maintained so rarely even if I dig , I am not hitting anything that would damage the edges or face.

Still the best club reviews on UA-cam
I wonder if putting spray foam or some type of gel in the i500 would help the sound and feel?
Both clubs looks amazing in my opinion. Pxg look is unique

@@Kylez1212 three years later and they still look like new. time always tells.

I love my i500's. That being said, is there a way to put Taylormade's Speedfoam or PXG's foam in them? Id be very curious as to the results of that.
put yarn in it!
Love the PXG , but price is the deciding factor.
like to se a test of srixons new iron
Look at the thumbnail and let me know what’s wrong. Great video though Mike!
😂 I just got it! Good spot!
Is it just me? I don't hear any sound difference in the video? :D

Maybe it's not as easy to control? Not all about distance as we well know!
love the look of these but i hit them too far.... flyers...
What iron is he hitting ? A 7 iron ? If its a 7 iron, its very good spin numbers id say
yes 7 iron

The ping i500 wear terribly finish looks like crap after 1 season of play
