I bought the p790 iron set as my first clubs this year. And I love them! Have lowered my handicap from 22,5 to 12,5 since I got them. Getting alot straighter shots and all. Absolutely love them! :D
I spent 2 hours at a fitting with the TaylorMadeP790, Mizuno JPZ 919 Forged and the i500. I went fro the pings - MUCH tighter dispersion and more distance over the others, with great feel
I have a set of i500s, the sets I have had in the past are Callaway x16 pro series, titleist ap2, titleist ap2 714. Honestly the i500 in retro lofts, so weaker than standard are the best irons I have ever owned. Just so consistent in regards to yardage. You just can't beat ping for fitting.
Hey Mark, I went to my local golf shop and got fitted for a new set of clubs. I actually hit the Taylormade P-790’s the best! He had me hit, Ping, Callaway, Cobra even the PXG and I hit the 790 (got the 5-9 iron) by far the best. I couldn’t help saying “Speedy Speed Foam” a few times when I swung. Lol got Vokey wedges, also bought the new concept x Scotty Cameron putter as well. Going back for the Driver, wood and hybrid fitting next week. I was gassed after hitting close to 250 balls.
A big thank you to Ray for lending you his TM's for the test. No way they would have sent them to you or are they finally over that little tiff. Well done Dan. I like all the TM P & Ping I ranges at the moment, both would blend well within the sets as well for maybe that like extra help in the long and feel in the short.
i have just got a set of the i500. purely on the fitting of the pings etc and also i had a set of taylormade irons in the past and they were so poorly made. i love the look of the ping and the option of retro loft which i have taken sold it for me. great review. thanks ya’ll
It would be interesting to see a skilled player playing 18 holes with a set of game improvement clubs and a higher hcp player playing with blades to see how much the clubs would affect the scoring ??? Great video again bruh, can’t help but love your work.
I own 790s. The only bad thing I have to say is they are almost too hot at times. Today I was on a par 3, 145 to the flag with a breeze in my face. My normal 8i carries about 150, so I figured a full swing was perfect. I must have teed it up a touch too high.. because I carried it about 160. At times off the tee this iron is just too hot. For mid cappers like me who don't always hit middle, I can't rely on always carrying my 8i off the tee this far. It makes me fairly uncomfortable teeing up with this iron.
Zach, that could happen with any clubs. If you hit everything perfect, you would be playing with Rory and Justin and not commenting on irons on UA-cam.
Great to see real world comparisons instead of the typical indoor dry ball stuff. The obvious question is, was the number one ball in golf used for this test?
Love these review vlogs with Dan. Keep it up. PS looking forward to the JPX reviews (waiting for full set I believe?) because they look absolutely beautiful.
Both TM and Ping have now good clubs in that same player/game improvement category covered with similar performance characteristics that really appeal. You didn’t mention price. Overtime how will the solid back of the ping stand up to bag clatter? #speedfoam
But Mark... how would they compare to the irons you used to play? The hollow Mizuno MP-H5's ? Are these an improvement over the mizunos? I still play the MP-H5's and tried the P790's and wasnt impressed.
Mark trying to decide between the ping I 500 and the mizuno 919 forged I noticed on the specs the bounce are strongly different can you tell me the advantage or disadvantage of both sets, thank you for all the enjoyment I have gotten from all your videos
From my knowledge, which every club has the lower bounce will want to dig in the ground more. Think of it as turf interaction, generally higher bounce for steaper swing, lower bounce for shallower swing. I personallly play all ping clubs, there overall quality is exceptional. hope this helps.
Mark replied to someone else a few days ago that he's waiting for a full set to test....I can't wait either, to say they look good is an understatement.
I think I'd have the Pings over the TM. They look much nicer and having owned sets of Ping and Taylormade, I think the Pings are generally made better. Never had trouble with Pings but I did have trouble with a set of Burner 2.0 irons (about four of the heads snapped off at the hozel, over time 👀 )
I'd like to see a show on just why Dan hit the ball so low? From my viewpoint he's got a good swing, but maybe a more in depth analysis will show something?
I think about buying a new iron club either I 500 or Taylor made 790. Any one help me to make decision!!!. My handicap is 15. Currently play mizuno MP 32.
if your a 15 and playing the mp 32s, either would do a good job for you. Forgiving, but a bit clicky, go for the p790. I reckon the i500 feels a bit better thought.
Who reviews two clubs by hitting one shot a piece? If I'm not mistaken, there's a phrase amongst golfers that says, "the second guy is always better." Therefore, I would imagine that had you two "reviewers" struck the Taylor made irons second, they would have ended up on the green.
I am a little confused you think we have only ever hit these clubs on camera infront of you or do you want us to film all shots hit over time and make a long hitting video. Thanks for your comment
Surely a high spinning short iron is needed to hold greens especially for mid/high handicapers to hold the green. There are numerous videos highlighting the issues of low spinning delofted clubs for distance.

Love the outside testing format guys!!! THANKS

I like the method of initially trying clubs indoors as you can hit more balls but the going outside to make the final decision.
I love the outdoor testing! The indoor/fitting room testing is nice but I would prefer to test outdoors under real playing conditions.

Ben Briggs how are the clubs holding up wear wise? I hear they wear very quick and lose that good look. Thoughts?

I have the P790s.. love the new confidence they’ve given me and i have definitely been scoring lower since switching off my AP2s..
GranDan the Man! Outdoor testing blogs are the best
Looking at this comparison test it's all about the player. But best to sneak out on the course to try it first.

KNUCKLEBALL!!!

I wanted those i500, but went the opposite direction and got some new blades 😎
Good for you !!. Just shot one of my best rounds,,,,WITH BLADES. If you can find the middle most times- you will be fine.
True, gamed them today center strikes felt great. Definitely need to focus on the swing
I’m confused...it’s almost like you had some nice things to say about a non Titleist club.
Great smooth swing Mark!!!

Love the zoo keeper look Mark
Just curious, If you’re looking to analyze data, why wouldn’t you take 3 shots each, in a row, with each club?
Ping looks better. That what I would be buying on between these two. ⛳😁 #opinion
Are these workable? Or what about half shots into a par 3?

Man, that friend of Mark's has got one beautiful golf swing! I'd take that and enjoy the game for life with it
Great review, more like this please!
How much is that Foresight Sports unit?
Cool review!
First shot Dan blamed the flies...I thought he meant he went so low he took the wings off some flying ants!!😃👍

I 500 all days ....

THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT
How about comparing/review of the Cobra King Forged Black Tec??
What do you think about the new TS drivers?
This is okay, BUT where is the review for the new Mizuno JPX 919 line??- I cant find it???
Mark replied to someone else a few days ago that he's waiting for a full set to test....I can't wait either, to say they look good is an understatement.
Okay-Thanks. I've been searching and searching for the review. They definitely look good !
That 9i hole was punishing!
I think I'd have the Pings over the TM. They look much nicer and having owned sets of Ping and Taylormade, I think the Pings are generally made better. Never had trouble with Pings but I did have trouble with a set of Burner 2.0 irons (about four of the heads snapped off at the hozel, over time 👀 )
What you think mark about new titelist driver and irons coming out the C16
Derek Dickson £2000 for the set....🙄
I swear....Dan just doesn't lose....in the bunker, surprised it didn't hop out and go in the hole to be honest.
Get it up!!!
9:08 so I've been drinking a little, and this made me think I needed to slow down. Why am I seeing double?

i really like i500~ it has not chunky sole, with minimal !!! offset... but,, light & easy
What, actually, are we doing???
The most honest comment/question I've ever heard from a UA-cam golf channel!
First shot................GET UP DAAAAAAAAANNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's golf
Of all the golf you tubers you of all people are holding onto the mizuno jpx 919 review??? Don't tell us the mizzy boys didn't send them to you😂😂
Anyone else replay Marks good England at 13:42 over & over.....lol

Get up Dan
the ping is more than a 1/2 longer
all these clubs made today are just juiced lofts making you think you hit it further smh
Them socks are an absolute tragedy
I don’t think any tour pros are using hollow headed irons.
What’s to learn... not a good comparison.
Bit too much offset in the 790
The i500 has more offset tho
Blake Murray the i500 actually has less. They said that repeatedly through the video
Indoor testing makes no sense to an intelligent golfer.
These clubs spin way too much, as proven in the last shot :)
Surely a high spinning short iron is needed to hold greens especially for mid/high handicapers to hold the green. There are numerous videos highlighting the issues of low spinning delofted clubs for distance.
I was being sarcastic if you couldn't tell
Nope !!! Didn't get that 👍
Maybe and I’m just saying maybe stop spinning the ball so dang much.
