I can't speak for other guys, but the reason I do self-improvement isn't for girls. I grew up having low self-esteem, and self-improvement let's me accept who I am. It allows me to have a sense of self-assurance that I am not completely lost.

this video made me reflect more on this woman i was dating. Lovely woman and i threw it away for being in my head and letting my anxiety get the best of me.
