Necessity is the Mother of Invention. Truly interesting how we can find other ways to avoid throwing away broken / nonservicing tools. Thank you for the video
I'm afraid I have to disagree with you, at least a little bit… I firmly believe that laziness not necessity is the mother of all invention. I want you to think of any new device that wasn't created to save time and labor (thereby eliminating hard work)! Please share this thought… I think I might be onto something!
@@aday1637 I'm just gonna assume that the user never heard of alligator clips used with a male disconnect plug that can be easily purchased from harbor freight for pennies
That's the logical way but with his logic he'd have to take the wires out of something that wasn't broken so he probably thought peas were better to sacrifice
Great video ! I hoped you might have mentioned the common reason why a "bad battery" won't change ! To keep it simple, if you milk every bit of energy from the battery instead of putting it on the charger when it first stops, it can go into under voltage and then the charger won't recognize it , so it's bad user not bad battery 😉🙃😎 NZ
I bought an adapter to use 20V (new battery) on 18V but no instructions especially not to leave the adapter on battery, well that drained it. Now I have to jump it. I heard from a friend and now I see one way to jump it. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😎
For a short time, this might seem to work, However, this method is very unsafe as you are ignoring the charge protection from the changer, The battery cells are most likely high current 20Amp (2500mAh) 18650s used in many power tools and need to be balanced perfectly by the BMS any damaged cells in time can and will overheat (Thermal-runaway) and fire. In simple terms never try to recharge damaged cells.
As long as you only touch one side of the circuit and do NOT _complete_ the circuit, you are safe. Still, it's always prudent to use non-conducting items to make contact with the live circuit.
Brilliant and will serve me when I become the SHTF Battery Welder, for those with broken stuff and my horde of 20v batteries, this was great, thanks!!!!
The thing about wires is that they need to be the correct gauge in order to safely handle the expected current. That piece of metal can handle way more than those batteries can muster. A piece of wire that is too thin can just burn up. If you happen to grab it at the burn-point, YOU will get burned.
Muy bien hecho , me gusta !! Comparto el ingenio de conocer nuevas formas de utilizar lo que hay a la mano . Felicidades y muchos vídeos más!! Desde CDMX .
Watching from Yankee Hill, CA - thanks for the video showing how to recharge old batteries. Will that old “Bad” battery now charge on the charger again like new ?
B S you can just insulted copper wire! This only works if the battery is a good one and has accidently been discharged, if it is truly faulty this won't fix it, believe I've tried with ny Dewalt ones!
True. A defective cell won't get charged by chargers, as is true for an overly depleted one, but a DEFECTIVE cell can burn/explode. If you don't know for certain that it's just an over-discharge, use extreme caution (gloves, something to block flying battery-bits)
I've never been shocked by a battery and have been using this method a long time now. Get the polarity backwards and you can get a melted wire that could burn you though. I just slide a finish nail in each P+&-N slot in the battery's connect a jumper on each. Wait for a few seconds and put the dead battery in the charger. On a car battery I put the charger on high start mode for about 2 minutes or so then it will see the battery and let you charge it.
What would be the proper watts. I found one 200 watts but most are 90 watts. By the way I really enjoyed your video and I’m looking 4ward to making my own tiny welder.
NE Australia. Best version of this battery save I've seen - and I have one to try it on.
Du brauchst aber zwei! Wenn du keinen zweiten 18V= hast, probiere es mit dem Autoakku!

Instead of messing about with tin lids just use electrical wire.
I use a set of alligator clips leads.

Hey, leave him alone! Those peas are his lunch!
Very funny hey, I suppose tin lid looks better 🤣🤣
Great battery trick. I don't know how many batteries we have discarded that could have been fixed.
Thanks

Here's another story, it often happens that your battery refuses to work and needs to be reset
correctly said

I love that you tell us to use the rings, but you never use the rings your self, not when installing or removing the metals.... LOL
That's what I'm saying.

That's because the rings do conduct electricty also!!
Clear, simple, and straight forward. Thank you! 🙂

You can do the same thing with wires no need forthe can 😮tops
