  • The New Testament introduces a vast array of amazing characters; the first generation of Christians. But their stories don't end there! This episode, we bring up the fact that for most of the characters in Scripture, we have sequel stories BEYOND the Bible.
    A few links:
Who is Photini: • Who Is St. Photini?
Thomas in India: • When did Christianity ...
Lazarus (a poetry short film inspired by the Gospels account): • Lazarus
If you are watching all these things and wanting more interesting things in your life, I can recommend you the Lord of Spirits podcast. It's good! Fair warning: they talk for aaaages, go on random tangents, and the episodes are loooong but... there's some great material in there (recommend starting at the beginning and going chronological through the show): www.ancientfaith.com/podcasts...

I am gutted after watching this video. Coming from an evangelical background, I was always told “we don’t know the name” of the woman at the well, or what happened to her. I feel so cheated. Of course God’s people knew her name! I am so upset that no pastor ever at least said, “according to non-canonical tradition, here’s the rest of the story….”, but the fact is they probably never knew this story, either! I’ve been a Christian for most of my life but I know nothing about the saints, or church history, which is to my shame. I can’t thank you enough for producing these videos. I’m really looking into Orthodoxy now.

God bless you! Be of good cheer, there are a LOT of beautiful things to discover. Don't feel shame though. There is no shame in not knowing what wasn't available to know. May God bless your journey of discovering Orthodoxy and the treasures of the Early Church!

After coming from a evangelical Protestant into Eastern Orthodoxy, it has been a beautiful and intriguing transition. I feel like I have missed out on so much of our faith. Patristix, y’alls channel has been a huge blessing with getting me over Protestant hurtles and informing me on so much depth to being a Christian. May the Lord bless you guys! Thank you!

The sense that we can participate and celebrate the stories, very real ones, of those who love Christ, is such an amazing opportunity to breath fresh air in a decadent modern world where the bible is reduced to a set of books loosely connected. These are real stories, of real people, we ought to remember and celebrate. Christ is truly risen, and acting upon the world!

Knowing that the protestant tradition I was raised in would forget most of these stories is hard for me. I love the tradition that keeps their memories alive. Thank you for your videos.

I agree, it makes me feel cheated knowing that all this knowledge and history was simple thrown out the window. I’m really questioning Protestantism and its many branches.

This is my favorite one so far. That's needful to be reminded of this and inform others that there is much much much more to the story than just the Holy Bible alone.
I just realized, the casual, homey ambience of these videos reminds me of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood! And I mean that in the best way possible :)

Hearing the stories of the 1st century saints and the people who had only gotten scant mention in the pages of the New Testament was part of my becoming an orthodox Christian

Well done guys. I get the sense we're all gearing up for great things from ya'll. LOL "Orthodox Veggie Tales" .... oh my. In college I worked at a Christian Bookstore at the height of the VT, we had a display with a monitor that played a commercial for their videos which included of the course, the full song on a loop I still cringe at the thought hahaha!

Amazing content! Will you do one on the structure of the Orthodox Church? Many people unfamiliar with it seem unfamiliar with the role of patriarchs and the EP and often compare it to the papal system.

I like hearing their story because they feel somewhat realatable and more human.
They often describe, in more detail than those in the bible, the human struggles behind their spiritual life and teachings which I feel like I can relate to better.

I was baptised Roman Catholic, I have been attending a non denominational protestant church. I was never ever told about the history of Christianity. I wasnt even told of any saints or apostles. I feel so cheated. Its like all there is the Bible, and it was always here without strife.
    It seems so ungrateful
