    GREAT VIDEO ! I think you've covered all the bases. I'd like to confirm using a vintage zoom, 29-70mm f3.5-4.5 Contax-Zeiss lens with a Metabones Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x - no data of any type is transmitted to the camera. You must manually input the mm focal length of each zoom setting into the BMPCC4K. In the case of a Canon zoom STM 10-18mm f4.5-5.6 (modified EF-S mount to work with Metabones EF Speed Booster)- with the lens set to either AF or MF - a BMPCC4K reports the lens as .7xEF-S10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS (irrespective of the lens IS being On or Off). The BMPCC4K continues to report the resultant mm values from the 0.71x Speed Booster as one zooms from 10-18mm (i.e. showing 7-13mm) whether the lens is set on AF or MF. Obviously, if using vintage glass with gyro stabilization, only use vintage prime lens.

    Really nice video. I definitely feel your channel will blow up soon. good production and content. One question, does the fps matter? Will 60fps look better than 24fps?

    • @AnotherCameraChannel
      @AnotherCameraChannel  2 роки тому +3

      Thank you!
      That's a good question. I went back to check some clips I shot, from what I can tell I don't believe that it's any more smooth when looking at a clip shot at 24 and a clip shot at 50 and sped back up to 24, but I may be wrong. If it is, then in my tests it's only marginally more smooth. IT's hard to do it scientifically because I'm not sure if I was more stable in either of the takes verses the other etc. Exposure will have to be compensated for etc if you plan to shoot slower to speed back up. I suggest some private tests and see if the results you get work best for the project you are shooting :)
      Thanks for the nice comments!

    Brilliant video, thank you. One thing - what about 'Distance' for the lens data? what does that refer to? where did you get 10389mm from?

  • @stevegreen9474
    @stevegreen9474 2 роки тому +1

    That's very comprehensive - thanks - I did wonder about vertical video, and if you had to do any calibration for that - I guess not
    BTW the official line from BM is that it defaults to 18mm if it doesn't have metadata - so if you have a longer lens and don't enter the correct info, it won't stabilise enough (and presumably the reverse is true)
    What would be really handy is if editing the clip metadata in resolve got picked up by the stabiliser + being able to animate strength could be useful

    • @AnotherCameraChannel
      @AnotherCameraChannel  11 місяців тому

      That's a great question. I'm not sure if it will work on Anamorphic, it may do.
      I think the best thing for you to do would be to run some tests, start with the focal length of the lens, then try multiplying by. the speedbooster etc.
      See what results it comes up with 👍

    • @AnotherCameraChannel
      @AnotherCameraChannel  Рік тому

      Really depends on what you’re doing. If you’re stable with the IS lens then you’d have less crop straight off the bat.
      If you’re walking around then I’d think Gyro would help you out more than just Lens IS! 👍

    How does it affect the quality of the shot? Since there is a zoom in, a little quality will be lost from the original footage, no?
    Thanks for the amazing & Usefull video!!!

    • @AnotherCameraChannel
      @AnotherCameraChannel  11 днів тому

      Depending on how strong the stabilization needs to be, the more it’ll crop, and yeah you could lose some quality but if you’re using a 6K and exporting at 4K you probably won’t notice at all!
      The only other thing may be motion blur bumps from shutter speed!

    So with a metabones 0.71 speedbooster and sigma 18-35mm, I would have to change the focal length setting within the camera dependent on what zoom I'm at? Or would a lens like this automatically convert it for the data? This video was insanely helpful man I'm very grateful.

    Your video has helped me quite a bit, but I have one remaining concern: are there currently any other options for inputting the focal length with a vintage prime lens? I have a set of vintage prime lenses that we rotate around quite a lot, and with my crew's (somewhat peculiar, sure) workflow I would rather not have to change the numbers every time we change glass. Is it only possible to do so before recording and I should regret my life choices, or can I alter the data in-camera or in Resolve later?

    • @AnotherCameraChannel
      @AnotherCameraChannel  Рік тому

      That’s something you could definitely test out by looking what metadata you can change in Resolve.
      I know you can change camera names and angles and other metadata so maybe it’s possible!

    Gyro option doesn't appear in Davinci (18.1.1) when I try to stab footage shot on my Panasonic Lumix 12-35 OIS lens. I tried to shut off stab manually on the lens, tried to shut off stab in the setup menu of the camera - still nothing. But gyro works with my Canon 70-200 F4...
    Conclusion: it doesnt't work with lenses that have stab (either it is ON or OFF)

    • @AnotherCameraChannel
      @AnotherCameraChannel  Рік тому +1

      Interesting. Just tested it out with BMPCC4K and Panasonic 12-35.
      My results were:
      - Image Stabilisation Option ON, Lens IS switch ON - No Gyro Available
      - Image Stabilisation Option ON, Lens IS switch OFF - No Gyro Available
      - Image Stabilisation Option OFF, Lens IS switch ON - Gyro Available
      - Image Stabilisation Option OFF, Lens IS switch OFF - Gyro Available
      So it's a bit odd that it didn't work for you, maybe try testing one more time.

    • @AnotherCameraChannel
      @AnotherCameraChannel  2 роки тому +1

      It's extremely reliable, in terms of being able to apply the effect it'll work every time.
      What results you get will be determined how you moved when you shot the footage.
      I tried running across a road, holding the camera one handed via the top handle.... and it looked terrible.
      But walking across the road, hold the camera as steady as I could, being more stable.. the results were way better.
      Like I said it's not gonna perform miracles but it's extremely simple to use! :)

    • @AnotherCameraChannel

      It's kinda the same, except it's using what the camera senses and then Resolve uses that data to stabilise. However it won't zoom in and out like the GoPro and Gyroflow method does, so you have to be really selective about what clips you try to stablise. With Gyroflow, it will reframe the shot back to the widest it can after any crazy movements, while Resolve won't. Gyroflow still has it's advantages
