Wonderful video sir i thank you, looking into purchasing one as a tech repair person always helps knowing what im into if i break it bc i will be fixing myself and likely for customers. Samsung as always does a great job making things simple and that make sense for disassembly even in a complex device.
Thanks! This is a masterful video. I enjoy how you completely lay out the disassembly and reassemble everything in a neat orderly style. I use to repair tape recorders, laptops, desktops, monitors. Some of them real monsters. Sometimes repairing them requires a continuity test to locate and unsolder chips. What a hideous and often thankless job that was. You got style. Very orderly and efficient teardown and reassembly. Commend yourself.😄

Hi, you would probably have to take it apart, and dry out any liquid or moisture inside. Then use a brush like a tooth brush to brush off any corrosion on the chips or connectors and put it back together to see if you can get it to work.

Question: supposedly there are small bristles at hinge to protect against dust/debris getting inside. Did you notice them? Spigen sells a hinge protector film but I don't know if OK to install or if it will mess with these bristles?

Also not sure about adding the protector film but I wouldn't install anything that is not from samsung made specifically for this phone. Amazing! I love the style of your videos, informative yet succinct. My Galaxy Flip says "battery temp too low to charge", how would one fix this? Thank you.
Thanks! Most likely the temp reader on the sub board/charger port board is faulty. That sub board would need to be replaced. If your phone is still in warranty, best bet is to send it to samsung to have them fix it. If not, then you can watch the video and replace that sub board/charger port board if a replacement is available. Also you can try charging it while the phone is off, sometimes that bypasses the issue.
Not sure I will get an answer butnwhere is the open/close sensor? Im guessing its a combo of magnets that pull up and down a metal contact. My flip screen has trouble turning on. Takes several button pushes and accidently dialed SOS. Wondering if a magnet issue causing the problem.
Good evening, I came across your video because my phone power off every time I close the phone (except when plugged to charger) . Tried a couple things and I think it's the flex cable that needs to be replaced. Do you have a video or can you guide me how easy is it to replace it? A new screen cost $$$ and the flex cable is only a few dollars.
Hi, awesome video, do you think the factory thermal paste is good? or maybe an mx-4 8,5W/(mK) would help it dissipate heat more effectively, maybe the phone feels more hot in the hand but processor could be more cool, what do you think? some good thermal pad between ram and 3d graphite could do something?
For the most part its good. If you do plan on replacing the thermal paste or adding thermal pads etc, just make sure the thermal paste is not a highly conductive one, since if it leaks around, it can short the phone or components. Better thermal paste will help with heat transfer but the difference wont be all that much to notice. So not worth taking it apart to replace unless you need to make a repair on something and are going to take it apart already.
So 12,69Wh of total battery capacity. Thats only about 20% less than the S21 15,5 Wh, 4000mah battery has to offer. Thx to the secondary screen which gets about 15-20% of total screen on time in my usecase, I get easy through the day. Battery life is about the same than on my 4000mah 6,5" SD855 smartphone i used before.
I have a Flip 3 with a broken screen. The cost of a replacement screen in the UK does not make it worth repairing. I have tried every option to access the phone to offload the photos etc without success as the phone is not in debug mode. Does anyone know of a way to connect a cheap mobile screen to the device so I can unlock it and offload the data then I can reset it to factory defaults and sell it as parts. I would have thought that Samsung would use the same connector and pin out on different mobiles. I imagine this would be useful to a lot of users with flips.
I would have liked to see a few flips opening and closing once it was back together, just to see how it holds up after a repair. Great video nonetheless!
Thanks! Ya should have opened and closed a few times. But I can tell you if the fold screen is not adhered back to the frame, it can crack or get damaged if you close it and it folds incorrectly. So always best to either get a flip assembly with the screen pre attached for replacement or make sure to use the original pre cut adhesives which eventually will become available to attach a replacement to the frame to ensure a correct installation. :)
Excelent video. What about the water resistance after it is re assembled is it compromised? Mine Z FLIP 3 got screen issues ( dead pixels on the hinge that stays always on) with 6 months of very careful use. It seems to be the TBF (time between failures ) on this new tech model. I would not recommend it... They fixed it (because it was still in warranty) but it seems will happen again in another 6 months and them with no warranty
Thanks. Hmm might be something to do with the flex cable which runs from one side of the flip to the other. Either the center might be damaged which would be a difficult part to replace since it's held in place with cure in place gaskets, or one of the connectors on either end of it may have gotten loose which would require to just re connect it.

oh wow, what an in-depth video. so amazing... I'm seeing you replying to newer comments, so i hope you😅 can help with mine? do you suppose the screen flex connector is replacable? cause I'm typing in a flip 3 that's currently not dead but dying 😢 it's not the screen since it works well when opened partway, however it may be the connector that's been comprised. it just seizes working completely upon opening fully, so I'm guessing it truly is that one small part... however, i only see the main motherboard to screen cable floating around in parts shops, so i'm starting to worry my phone's done for...
I'm not sure exactly what could be the issue, might be the flex cable which is between flips which went bad, which is replaceable ( www.mobilesentrix.com/mainboard-flex-cable-for-samsung-galaxy-z-flip-3-5g-f711 ) but if its the actual flex cable for the screen, you would probably need a new display.
I buy all the phones for disassembly. :) I don't think any company would give out phones to be taken apart since they don't really want their design and internals to be shown to other companies too close to release or other reasons but for reviewing phones and talking about them without taking them apart is another story but ya those I am not given either at this moment in time and need to buy on my own.
Hi. I have this phone and my screen froze. I never backed up my photos. I was told it's a motherboard issue. Do you know if a motherboard can be repaired so I can transfer my photos? Ty
Does isopropyl alcohol dissolve the waterproofing seals? Also, my Z Flip 3 temp sensor might not be working properly. When the phone is closed, it charges as normal but when I open the phone, it stops charging. I used a diagnostics app, and it says the battery temp is as low as 7 degrees Fahrenheit open. When I check the temp after having it closed, it's back in the normal range closer to 100 degrees, before jumping back down again because the phone isn't closed. I tried to raise the temp by running a game that makes the phone relatively hot, and the temp only got up to about 50 degrees and still wouldn't charge. It's never been opened before, and it hasn't sustained any major shocks. If you have any idea as to what the issue could be or any suggestions I could try, I'd be more grateful than you know.
Usually this is related to a bad wireless charger or sometimes charger port or battery. Also yes isopropyl alcohol will eat away a bit at the adhesive. It will still be sticky after the adhesive dissolves but wont hold as well as new adhesive.
Hi thanks! You can see somewhat more in detail on this website www.theverge.com/22619139/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-3-flip-screen-durability-waterproof-aluminum
how do you remove the Volume button?? Just saying to remove the adhesive doesn't really help. Everything else was helpful but I need to replace the Volume Button and I don't want to make anything worst.
You just need to gently peel off the flex cable portion from the frame itself so it doesn't tear, then you pull out the assembly from the two metal brackets on either side of the assembly which is in the slot of the frame. You can use a small flat head or another tool to pull the metal bracket out which is holding the volume button assembly in the slot.
yeah its annoying. You can use B-7000 glue (and use light clamps to keep it down until it dries) but have to be careful and apply very little and thin so it doesn't leak out too much. You can rub off excess if it leaks out after it has dried.
yeah you would need replacement adhesive for it. Here is a link for one: www.ebay.com/itm/165919552574?hash=item26a193743e:g:O98AAOSwNlRj3BRY&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4O%2FX5uI5nvuqOcp2LO545wZx%2FluNsYtEPY0J5aeGqxqwBSNm0FLNw712dUufnMgnYcUMLQkYrzIO7gyuqaX1Av%2BB3sZ59esUWWRht8wXFsY8M6EWTmaehwCojKCY%2BGdG4GUoHiyinZrX1K4wQXdH%2BI1Lpbn6V9BU%2BPT6D0sLvJidyy3Bg19FVYCurJZeHjDyYW5cD86UQusP039BRU3%2BYIDCRqzTbteuY41u5pw4xhM1ohRXqfoifLOJ0Wh68vtwvM60J3L%2Bgss%2BBs1Ijwg5MtgGPYQNGr13ncF6eAHnlF2r%7Ctkp%3ABFBM2LmK_5Fi
Usually replacement battery door/covers or back plates etc come with the original pre cut adhesive installed. If not, here is a link to one of the original pre cut adhesives that is for the phone: www.ebay.com/itm/403560387272?hash=item5df612d2c8:g:cAsAAOSwT3ZiOvO9
It was a small chip under a shield. Not too sure what the chip was for but might be a charging regulator or something else related to what that flex cable connects to.
I still have nightmare when disassembly my SE Xperia Play back then, when I repair the flex cable. I don't think I'm ready repair this piece of expensive hardware by myself if it's break.
damn! thats one jam packed phone. Wonder if they switched to stainless steel (stronger than aluminium) and carved out more space on the inside, as well as slimming down the hinge mech, as it eats up quite a bit of interior real estate when flat.
If you use new original pre cut adhesive that is made for the phone when re assembling, then it would retain the water resistance. But as of now it is not available yet :)
hey nice video, my z flip 3 got problem when i close it its turn off and i need to switch on every time also its works fine when i dont close it, and its not turning off when its on charging, when its on charging i can close my flip phone, i went to the local market they said they can fix it in 2000 - 3500 inr, according to you what is the problem ? and should i repair it on local market because i cant afford samsung service center, please help me and replay me as soon as possible thank you ....
Can you or someone please tell me what kind of glue I can use to fix the front screen panel. Mine is coming undone and I can lift almost the entire panel up off the phone and before it's all the way off I'd like to clean it up and glue it back on so I don't get water or any more dirt/debris in there! I'm curious if a tiny amount of epoxy red or blue would work. If not what glue/adhesive do I need!? I've read online that T-7000 glue is what's used but I can't get it unless I order it. Just want to be sure first before buying or trying anything this close to the circuit boards and screen
Yes as the previous comment mentions, its a factory installed special one that would need to be installed by samsung or an authorized place if needed replacement.
Can the zflip3 front screen be replaced without needing a factory reset wiping all data? My wife screen suddenly went black and will not power on. Phone rear screen works so seems phone boots
I have Flex mode Sensor fault. Phone will power off when i closed flip. Phone will stay ON if connected to charging. Battery and LCD test OK. Can you advise what could be issue and how to fixed? Thanks
Not sure exactly, but can be a bad flex cable connecting the bottom half to the top half, can be loose cable connection, causing the cable to disconnect when flip is being closed from either the battery or the flex cable connecting the top to the bottom. It can also be a short somewhere, so not sure exactly.

This guy is so talented, cool and underrated.... ❤️
Thanks!
Would changing the motherboard with an unlocked motherboard work. Or would I have to change the sub board as well
Ya would work.
@@PBKreviews thanks. Keep up the videos
Friggin sick, and it started right back up. Kudos. 👍
Thanks! :)
Does company gives you phone or You Buy phone for disassembly?
Hey PBKreviews, It would be interesting to see the hinge mechanism. Can we get a teardown of the hinge? Great content!
Hi thanks! You can see somewhat more in detail on this website www.theverge.com/22619139/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-3-flip-screen-durability-waterproof-aluminum
@@PBKreviews awesome! Thanks for the resource. Keep up the great work!!
@@samk8862 thanks and you're welcome
how do you remove the Volume button?? Just saying to remove the adhesive doesn't really help. Everything else was helpful but I need to replace the Volume Button and I don't want to make anything worst.
You just need to gently peel off the flex cable portion from the frame itself so it doesn't tear, then you pull out the assembly from the two metal brackets on either side of the assembly which is in the slot of the frame. You can use a small flat head or another tool to pull the metal bracket out which is holding the volume button assembly in the slot.
after replacing the flex, the touch on the top line of the display does not work, could I have damaged the display? Could it be the tape's fault?
Omg damn, the screen still works afterwards!!! Well done haha
lol ya, had to be really careful and spend a lot of time prying it off with heat and some isopropyl alcohol. Thanks! :)
Could you maybe show us how much heat youre applying? And also on which areas?
Love your videos
Thanks!
Great video waiting for it. Thanks.
Thanks!👍
What kind of adhesive is used on the screen edge? Mine has worn out.
Sir! It's big problem to put back this border plastick on the front? Thx for answer
yeah its annoying. You can use B-7000 glue (and use light clamps to keep it down until it dries) but have to be careful and apply very little and thin so it doesn't leak out too much. You can rub off excess if it leaks out after it has dried.
@@PBKreviews Thank You!
What kind of adhesive to secure the lower back panel? Mine is coming off.
The glass of my bottom back battery cover panel is cracked. Do I need any adhesive to replace it?
yeah you would need replacement adhesive for it. Here is a link for one: www.ebay.com/itm/165919552574?hash=item26a193743e:g:O98AAOSwNlRj3BRY&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4O%2FX5uI5nvuqOcp2LO545wZx%2FluNsYtEPY0J5aeGqxqwBSNm0FLNw712dUufnMgnYcUMLQkYrzIO7gyuqaX1Av%2BB3sZ59esUWWRht8wXFsY8M6EWTmaehwCojKCY%2BGdG4GUoHiyinZrX1K4wQXdH%2BI1Lpbn6V9BU%2BPT6D0sLvJidyy3Bg19FVYCurJZeHjDyYW5cD86UQusP039BRU3%2BYIDCRqzTbteuY41u5pw4xhM1ohRXqfoifLOJ0Wh68vtwvM60J3L%2Bgss%2BBs1Ijwg5MtgGPYQNGr13ncF6eAHnlF2r%7Ctkp%3ABFBM2LmK_5Fi
Wow 1st channel do z fold 3 n z flip 2 teardown..superb as usual 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks! :)
Do you need a special glue to glue everything back together?
Usually replacement battery door/covers or back plates etc come with the original pre cut adhesive installed. If not, here is a link to one of the original pre cut adhesives that is for the phone: www.ebay.com/itm/403560387272?hash=item5df612d2c8:g:cAsAAOSwT3ZiOvO9
at the 6:23 what is this piece
It was a small chip under a shield. Not too sure what the chip was for but might be a charging regulator or something else related to what that flex cable connects to.
@@PBKreviews yeah i thought so ,but didnt see any chip attached to cable like that interesting
I bought a flip 3 with 256gb motherboard. Can I swap it out on my phone without having to do any reprogramming?
I still have nightmare when disassembly my SE Xperia Play back then, when I repair the flex cable.
I don't think I'm ready repair this piece of expensive hardware by myself if it's break.
👍 yep, its a difficult one
This gives me confidence that I can replace the lower speaker. Looks pretty straight forward
👍
Awesome, even faster than iFixit😉
:) Thanks!
What type of adhesive should i use if i try to dissasemble the cover screen?

Very good.
Thanks!
What are the magnets for? Is it keep the phone close? Thanks
Yea helps the flip close more secure but its not that strong to make it difficult to open.
damn! thats one jam packed phone.
Wonder if they switched to stainless steel (stronger than aluminium) and carved out more space on the inside, as well as slimming down the hinge mech, as it eats up quite a bit of interior real estate when flat.
Yea it's pretty packed. Not sure if they changed material, seemed to be the same to me.
@@PBKreviews It's still aluminum this gen, but a stronger type of aluminum. I can't recall what they called it off the top of my head though.
Does the phone work without the NFC /Wireless charging unit?
Nice work 👍
Thanks!
Is waterproof available after your incredible teardown?
If you use new original pre cut adhesive that is made for the phone when re assembling, then it would retain the water resistance. But as of now it is not available yet :)
hey nice video, my z flip 3 got problem when i close it its turn off and i need to switch on every time also its works fine when i dont close it, and its not turning off when its on charging, when its on charging i can close my flip phone, i went to the local market they said they can fix it in 2000 - 3500 inr, according to you what is the problem ? and should i repair it on local market because i cant afford samsung service center, please help me and replay me as soon as possible thank you ....
Hi, I'm not sure what exactly would need to be fixed or replaced that would be causing that issue.
Okay, Thank You But Should I Repair In Local Market, They Said Its Battery Belt Problem And They Can Fix It In 10000 Inr@@PBKreviews
Hi, this is the part you need. www.ebay.com/itm/403560387272?hash=item5df612d2c8:g:cAsAAOSwT3ZiOvO9
Should the batteries be replaced as a set or just the bad one?
Just the bad ones, no need to replace a none defective one since they are not married/linked to one another.
@@PBKreviews so each screen has its own battery PBK?
@@mgomez5606 not sure which battery powers what, but I dont think the phone would work with either battery missing or not working.
Very gentle to device
Keep going..
Thanks! :)
Is that a screen protector that can be replaced? or is that part of the screen?
Screen protector that came factory installed, Samsung said it’s recommended if needed to be replaced.. professionally done.
Correct thank you.
Yes as the previous comment mentions, its a factory installed special one that would need to be installed by samsung or an authorized place if needed replacement.
Fantastic tear down video ...
Thanks!
Does the small Lcd detach from the glass on the outside?
I believe it does if I'm not mistaken, however the replacement parts all come with the screen and glass pre attached from what I have seen
Can the zflip3 front screen be replaced without needing a factory reset wiping all data? My wife screen suddenly went black and will not power on. Phone rear screen works so seems phone boots
We want to backup pictures but this phone does not have hdmi capability through usb-c 3.1 port
Yea I don't think you need to do any resets for changing the screen.
Hello, would you repair to Motorola edge 20 pro?
Hi yes in a few days
I have Flex mode Sensor fault. Phone will power off when i closed flip. Phone will stay ON if connected to charging. Battery and LCD test OK. Can you advise what could be issue and how to fixed? Thanks
Not sure exactly, but can be a bad flex cable connecting the bottom half to the top half, can be loose cable connection, causing the cable to disconnect when flip is being closed from either the battery or the flex cable connecting the top to the bottom. It can also be a short somewhere, so not sure exactly.
@PBKreviews Thanks . Can you let me know how to replace the Flex Cable? Do I need to remove screen to do it or can be done from the back ?
