Thanks. I was able to fix my partner's z flip 4. Her phone was shutting down whenever the phone was flipped. I thought something was loose inside so I watched your video and tried to disconnect and reconnect everthing. After that, phone is working just fine. Thanks, bro!

Maybe down the road you could show how the hinge assy is installed since lately many users are reporting failures without any type of over use or abuse. with the hinge failure the phone is pretty much unfoldable. Great video should come in real handy for all the bad Flip 4 phones.
People think they are the hinges but in reality it's actually the magnets that hold the phone together.
Great effort, but would have been better if you kept on tearing down. I'm mostly interested in the new hinge design and updates to the display.
Thanks, yeah if it was an entirely new design I would have for sure taken it all the way apart, but since its so similar to the flip3 and the fact that other people will post videos on the hinge within a week or two after my video, I didn't want to render the device useless since there usually isn't that many views on my videos to recoup the cost of the device. :)

Used this video to repair my phone. I found one with a bad esn on ebay and used it to exchange the screen. I just took the motherboard from my phone and put it in the ebay phone. Worked flawlessly and was easier than trying to get the screen off the frame.
Question.... would you know why my z flip 4 disconnects from battery when i close it? It's either getting a short somewhere or the hinge is pulling the battery cable somehow? It only works when it's open. The second i close the phone it turns off and i cannot turn it back on until i open it up again.
My zflip4 would just shutdown when closed, unless it's charging.
Gave it to a service center 2 days ago.
They said it'll be fixed for free cuz it's under warranty, was told it was something to do with the motherboard.
Got the phone back today, it had no more scratches on the body aswell as the screen protector, almost as if the entire phone was new😅.
Though I think it's something to do with the battery in the top half of the phone👍

I can assure you that it's the teeny weeny flimsy hinge samsung used on the flip 4. when mine dropped Approx 12-16 inches off the table the fall caused the hinge retainers on one side to shear.. No magnets at the hinge end. That's why I will never own another Samsung flip or fold.

what is the reason why when some of the flip phones are blinking when flex mode? is that related to screen or other hinger related problem?
What do you reckon? does the overall engineering and build look durable for a 2 year span?
The frame and overall build I would say is good and would last 2 years for sure, but I am not a fan of these foldable screens. I've had them crack out of no where in the crease before and I just don't feel like I would use one as a daily phone without making sure I have some sort of insurance plan on it :)
@@PBKreviews yes indeed, that aluminum frame looks chunky and sturdy but the fragility of that foldable display cannot be ignored...I am one of those primitive fellas who only use one device at a time...and I am a sucker for compact devices, hence I was still using my appalling battery life plagued iphone 12 mini...I have pre-ordered the flip 4....this is gonna be my one and only primary device, so I did make sure to get samsung care+ ....thanks for the teardown...

There are multiple antenna, from ones in the frame, to motherboard and sun board contacts, to the plastic covers over the motherboard etc.

They sell the outer and inner screen assemblies on ebay but the inner is a bit pricey. If you broke your inner, I would suggest sending it to samsung for repair since their price would be cheaper. Can the flex between the upper and lower halves be replaced.
Yeah, you would need to cut out the cure in place gasket holding it in place with a razor but you would need to re apply a new seal with either cold glue or some sort of silicon filler to keep water and debris from getting inside the phone as well as potential for the flex moving around and getting damaged.

If you mean the folding screen, you can but since the cable is attached on the bottom to the sub board, it would be more difficult to work with when you cant completely remove that screen to have room to work, on top of the fact you might damage the cable by moving it around a lot.

Thanks! It's not too difficult, its just glued in with a cure in place gasket, so you would need to use an x-acto knife or razor blade to carefully cut the glue around the camera sides and gently pry out the camera.

It's funny cuz it looks like the connection for the 5 mm wave antenna on the bottom is still on the motherboard
Yep, well last years both ran off a single cable and connector, but yep there a slot which doesn't have a connector soldered to it on the board. I remember reading somewhere about them moving to one antenna with newer chipsets and so forth, so not sure if they changed the design last minute to go with one instead of two. Another thing I would thing was 2 would generally provide uninterrupted signal where if one was blocked by your hand, the other would kick in, but I guess the antenna is positioned in a place where usually ones hand would not be blocking it often.

Hey bro, the service center contacted us, they say upon replacement of screen, battery will be replaced as well charging us 63USD for the battery. Do you know the reason for this? Thanks
Sometimes the service centers depending on models of phones have replacement parts which come pre assembled and semi complete, meaning samsung has the parts ready to go so all they have to do is move over the motherboards and re assemble so it saves time and work.

The 3d graphite works just as well as a vapor chamber and as of the S20/Note 20, Samsung has been generally using the 3D graphite in place of the vapor chambers on their flagship/top tier devices.

Don't always be fooled by the shape of the motor. Since z axis vibrator motors can also come in the cylindrical shape. So the shape of it doesn't necessarily mean its the old vibrator motors. However I'm not entirely sure what motor is used in the Z flip 4 so I can't dive in any further about that.
