Awesome review - it's cool watching you just go off on a piece of gear and see how quickly you can get it to scream...almost like the synth equivalent of Ola's "Will It Chug" videos! I bought a Neutron as soon as they dropped, and drove it with a Beatstep Pro. For a while, it wasn't the most used piece of gear in my studio, but I've been playing with it a lot more recently - it's capable of everything from clean and creamy timbres to bright, plucky tones to just absolute filth, as you've seen. I finally got a NiftyBundle and a few modules, I've been liking modulating everything with Ochd. Now, what I'm finding is that it's convenient to have all of these patchable utilities available, it makes my modest eurorack kit a lot more usable.
The filter is the "Moffatt" filter named for the Midas engineer who designed it for Behringer. The synth was designed by Midas engineers in the UK, so I'd expect it to be pretty darned good. Love mine. Thanks for the cool demo Mr. Response!
One of my favorite things to do with my neutron is put the sample and hold into the delay time CV input and have the sample and hold slewed so each step glides into each other it gives it this liquid metal sound to each note🎹🎛️🎧👌 BrAp oN!!!✋✌️
As I’m just starting my modular journey, I mapped out the modules I need and this guy has a massive chunk of them, and 3340s are some of my favorite chips ever! I plan on pairing this with my malevolent.
4:47 is that the sony shelf system with a mini disc player? I wonder if Joey has a copy of that special Polyfuse album. It's amazing how fast he was able to find gold in this unit. So intense he abandoned his coffee. Incredible.
The Neutron was my gateway drug to modular. I love the oscs a lot more than I probably should, they've been my favourite for the last few years and have only recently been knocked off their throne by the Piston Honda.
LoL, I was just checking the comments before sharing a link to this vid in the musicians lounge synth thread, and I see yah posting here too. See yah in the chill internet club, doc!
So, you like it? 😁 I'm loving your enthusiasm. When I got mine, I spent hours doing the same as you You should try the band pass and high pass filters with the delay for a brighter sound. Also, getting the LFO to change its own clock speed as well as delay time and\or feedback via attenuators is big fun.
Love the review I have got to wait 3 weeks for my neutron as they are selling like mad in the UK. Yours looks f*****g cool in the euro rack. Just subscribed to your channel will have a look at some more videos and listen to your tunes. Keep up the good work. Thanks
Does anyone know what modules the neutron is patch into towards the end of the video? I want to start building a small modular case around my neutron and I really love the sound he creates in the video so I was just wondering what modules I shpuld get with it to achieve a similar sound.
Dont really care for Behringer and its cloning/copycat game, tend to stay away from those... but when they do this , the deepmind and the proton, its a different ball game. Certainly a must get. I have the Neutron, I even got a new faceplate for it.
I got my Neutron to use it for weird crazy sound effects and drones, like a modern poor man's VCS3 or like how Throbbing Gristle made their own effects pedals to do. Since, im broke, and dont know how to solder yet, a Neutron was my best bet to get close to those sorts of sounds. It does not disappoint in these regards. It is a howling screaming beast, and makes so much tasty stuff for further resampling and processing
It’s Sounds Great Very Metallic A lot of Utilities The internal Routing is quite bizarre And I have difficulty reading the patch bay words cause of the graphics or my crappy eyes but i’ll say graphics lol But The look is beautiful Also it’s a Paraphonic Synthesizer Cheers Happy Patching
I picked it up a couple years ago after a recommendation from Ingo [kAfA] as a semi-modular introduction. Damn I have been impressed with it's versatility. It is all over the new R010R album. Drone/Noise, leads, basslines. Even pulled together some nice pads using reverb pedals and the overdrive for texture. Great review, Joey! Always entertaining.
yeah it does, man! Ive accidently made a BD Patch, its really easy and when you just change the OSC shapes it gets wild really fast - love it!! Recorded them all right away
Thanks for this, especially so long after its release, I feel like this is a perfect intro to modular synthesis and it's nice to see that it has not aged so poorly that no one looks at it. Also, sidenote, I have two computers at this desk and my desktop takes line in from my laptop hub, I forget sometimes, because I rarely actually listen to audio from my laptop, with the exception of alerts that I need to see. that in mind, it's compressed twice on my end and that intro is already squished as hell, I presume because the room was bad so you turned down gated and compressed to fuck? I'm not complaining, I'm actually happy, it reminded me about how a bunch of moderate compression in series pumps. But holy shit at first I was like what the hell is this guy doing?! no one else will think that's funny or even know what I'm talking about with compression but you and the peeps in the comments will
Do you recommend an extra module like the mimeophon to help with cv control ect? I'm a guitarist and I have midi controllers and ableton ect, but would I be ok with just the neutron and some 3.5 trs, or should I have something else to help with fucking with the routing?
Thanks, that review was brilliant. I got a pet Neutron at the start of lockdown. Your video inspired me when I become frustrated at trying different connections that sometimes make magic happen but most times don’t. Also, I only use it with my iPad for all other times + sequencing/arps, so am thinking that I could do with getting more modulars just to give an easier set of backing noises, be it drums, drones etc. Thanks again.
fun review... I shouldn't place this in an Eurorack case..... I did... but now outside my rack..... for good reasons ,1 rackspace ; 2- power consumption. 3- limited midi functions

This is probably best affordable synth ever made, features, sound, built quality. If moog would build this it would cost 1500$.
🙏
It reminds me of the Moog Subsequent

Just WOW!
Behringer should definitely stop cloning old stuff and develop more their own synths like that.
This! Really looking forward to the Proton.
Moffatt filter designed by Keith moffatt in Manchester uk
omg you sold me on this goddamn not another synth i need. Actually, you sold me on yourself too, you got skillz!
Your reviews are awesome
I must turn my Neutron today, thank you for inspiration ❤
*on
This is by far the wildest synth revier I've ever seen. love it!
Neutron was my first step into modular, i still use it in almost every patch.
Haven't used mine in over a year. Seems like I have to get back to it now lol
Hell yeah, I love mine. Pass it through a wave folder and it’s crazy.
Literally every Joey Blush gear review: "This is the shit" followed Trashy Industrial Modular Thrashing. :P
And 'Fuck Yeah!' I love Joey & his approach.
One of my favorite things to do with my neutron is put the sample and hold into the delay time CV input and have the sample and hold slewed so each step glides into each other it gives it this liquid metal sound to each note🎹🎛️🎧👌

15.16 MADNESS !! This is great!
Neutron or eowave swarm? Two neutrons for the price? Neutron and a module or two?
The Neutron is a swiss army synth. It does stabs, acid, basses, pads, kicks, and every sound design oddity in between.
15:50 and thereafter - absolutely seminal.
The Neutron was my gateway drug to modular. I love the oscs a lot more than I probably should, they've been my favourite for the last few years and have only recently been knocked off their throne by the Piston Honda.

My opinion is you need two of them, shit gets really wild after that
Word, I kinda want to get a second one.
@@terminalglimmer Hehe, I went for a third

Great demo!
Gotta get one of these monsters!
That was a dope bit of jamming. Cheers!
...and there is was... the review I needed. Thank you sir.
That went from 0 to batshit crazy in no time 😂👍🏻
I got one based off this jam, thank you
I love my Neutron. Awesome vid as usual Sir \m/
You sold me!!😊
Yeah top channel, instant sub. Keep up the great work
Finally someone that plays it neuro bass 🙏🏽 would you do a tutorial on how you would work with it to get neurobass or cool usable sounds in a daw?
Da igual el cacharro que cae en tus manos, da igual donde empiezas a tocar que siempre acaban sonando a ti.
Behringer should just stick this video on their homepage 😂😂😂😂
Just got mine, this device is a piece of engeneering art. Now going to sell my Microbrute, because compared to Neutron it sounds like a toy
I love my Neutron. My favorite mono synth! It just sounds so filthy, yet can also sound very clean and beautiful.
Dont really care for Behringer and its cloning/copycat game, tend to stay away from those... but when they do this , the deepmind and the proton, its a different ball game. Certainly a must get. I have the Neutron, I even got a new faceplate for it.

I love my neutron. Try n get some kiks out of it Joey. It makes killer kicks.
Can imagine it does! 💣💥 neutron sounds heavy weight

@@theevildrpathave you used modular stuff before??? It's plenty capable and so much to it on its own, you need something to sequence/trigger it though

I think it's behringers only somewhat interesting synth. But it's way too big. And also ugly as hell.
