    Thanks, I did one one a 300c once, was a little harder but this looks super easy. Having to do it on my jeep because some bonehead previously put a new water pump on (before I bought it) and it leaked, guy had some electrical issues with it so I ended up buying it cheap with a brand new leaking water pump. I suspect like my 300c ill find pitting where the gasket mates and will have to use a little rtv.

    Love the video!! Well organized and very thorough. I happened to catch what you said at 18:15 and I used to think the same way so I thought I'd provide some insight. The Torx with the hole in the middle is a security bit, the regular Torx is actually in an engineering sense the strongest geometric bit other than a triple square. The reason they do these is because of the total surface area in its design prevents small bolts which are under high tension or torque (hence torx) from stripping when removing. Again, great video, you have a new subscriber

    You can park on a slight incline to burp your radiator as long as the cap is above the bleeder screw

    All the extra coolant came out when you took the water pump off because you didn't drain the engine block. There are two plugs, one on each side of the block. The video was very helpful though thank you!

      Where are the plugs located on the blocks? I have a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 5.7 hemi

    It looks like a similar water pump on my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 5.7 liter. Maybe Mopar used the same water pumps on 2005-2010's 5.7 liter Hemi's.

    Thanks for this! Since getting my 05 GC Limited with the 5.7 Hemi I've been intimidated doing much of anything on it even though I've been working on vehicles when necessary for over 30 years. Coming from dealing with a older Honda Accord (97) and Acura Integra (93) doing things on this has been a big learning curve. You taking your time and showing each step along with what tools to use is great since I'm thinking my water pump is leaking and may need to be changed. One question though, is using the rubber gasket by itself enough for it or would you recommend adding some Permatex as well?

    Great detailed how-to. So mild-mannered, but got a big chuckle out of the "fuckin" torx on that pulley - love Americans, and love America! I'm doing mine today if I can put up with the heat and humidity...and go get the fuckin 50 torx for the pulley lol :)

    Thank you just used this video to do my waterpump. Just got it finished 2 hrs ago, while putting new coolant and running engine with heat gradually, only cool air, now it overheated and think I need to do my radiator.
    Do you have a video for the radiator you installed?

    That’s very helpful, thanks! I do have one question, how did you remove the plastic part that you had a zip tie on? It’s the part that connects two A/C metal tubing to the water pump. It shows up at around 5:55.

      That bolt sticking out, it just threaded or slides on...don't remember 100% but yeah you should be able to just work it off.

    What's the name of that part at 18:06? I tried to take mine off my old PUMP and it stripped. Need to find a new one online and I don't know the name of it. Thanks for the video too. This is super helpful!!!

    • @Meekerextreme
      @Meekerextreme  7 років тому

      I used my calibrated wrist...LOL I own a nice fancy Torque Wrench but I rarely use it. You wrench on stuff enough you know when something is tight. Never lost a bolt, and never broke one.

  • @ph3733
    @ph3733 7 років тому +1

    Thanks for the video. Especially the belt location description at the end helped. Just an observation: your air intake before the throttle flap looks very black on the inside. Mine has only minimal oil residue but is still shiny after 127k miles. Same for the water pump. It looks so dark grey in there. Mine has a clean aluminum look. Did you put anything in your coolant that caused it?

    • @Meekerextreme
      @Meekerextreme  7 років тому +2

      Nope it always seemed to get dirty I just would clean it from time to time. The vehicle was traded in this year so no more need to worry. Someone else's problem...LOL

    When something needs to be torqued and the bolt head needs to be very short, they use torx head bolts.

    • @Meekerextreme
      @Meekerextreme  8 років тому

      Sorry my power steering is good, but it's all done right on top side and was actually pretty easy, a few of the bolts are slow getting out with a wrench but it's not too bad.

    Hey, I have a 2007 WK. It looks the same as yours. My Haynes manual says to pull the fan and shroud. My fan is hydraulic and ran from power steering pump. I have oil leaks going to hydraulic valve. They are much slower leak than my new coolant leak coming from pump. I need to get this thing back on road asap. I feel like it is too much work replacing all those lines as of now. Does yours have the same fan? You didn't mention removing it, so I just want to make sure that I won't need to.
    I will try and tackle those lines a different day.

    • @scottmaurice6008
      @scottmaurice6008 4 роки тому +1

      Oh, I see you have 46k views so not sure you will get back to me, but I will take anyone's comment. I almost got rid of the jeep, because of all suspension components are shot. But I just ordered lower and upper control arms, shocks, inner and outer tire rods, and end links. I decided to keep the jeep and put the time into it. 5.7 hemi will last well over 140k. Transmissions are good in this. Then this just happened. I hope I made the right call. I'm at point of no return as far as money spent. Hope someone gets back to me. Thanks

    • @Meekerextreme
      @Meekerextreme  4 роки тому

      Yes, all WK's with the 5.7L have the Hydraulic fan. I never had a fan issue, but I did have to replace the power steering pump a few times, spend extra and get a better unit then Autozone it last a month. I then went with OmexOda (spelling?) good stuff and never had an issue after that. As for the Water Pump no I didn't need to remove the fan. Plenty of room.

    • @scottmaurice6008

      @@Meekerextreme hey, thanks for the quick response. I did buy the water pump from auto zone. I have to get this back on the road over the weekend. I also need to do the suspension, which I bought in advance and they are better parts.
      My steering pump is okay. But, the lines going into the hydraulic pump are leaking fluid. This is not my main concern now, but do you have any videos that show those parts. I need to order those for later replacement. I haven't searched that yet, I am just happy, I can get the pump done without breaking the lines for fan. Thanks again for your quick response. I will tackle this tomorrow. Hydraulic likes to fan, a different day

      @@Meekerextreme also, I just subscribed to your posts. I really appreciate the time you all take to make these videos. I am a field service engineer who deals with a lot of mechanics and electronics, but I work in a different field. It is very helpful when people share their knowledge with others. Sometimes i have no choice, due to time constraints,.to take it to mechanic. Most of the time, I get great service and just pay a lot more for labor. Recently, I had a evap code. I l replaced the gas cap just to see. It didn't fix it. I thought i had to get emissions this year and was too busy to troubleshoot myself. I took it to jeep. They shotgunned it and replaced canister and module and gas cap again.. I got it back and code came back in again after 2 days. I didn't even have time to take it back. Fortunately, it was the off year for emissions and I got my tags without test. Finally, 2 months later, I decided to look at it. The vacuum line going to purge valve was pulled off. I can't help to thing this was original problem. I took it to Jeep. I will never trust this place again.
      So thanks again for posting videos, along with any others that help diagnose stuff as well.

      No, just drop the water pump down...undo the one bolt on that tube at the top and you just pull down on the water pump and new one you slide up.

    • @Meekerextreme
      @Meekerextreme  4 роки тому +1

      To have the Hemi work right you need to run the recommended oil. Otherwise the cylinders will not deactivate and you will toss a warning light or message I forget which. Will it hurt your vehicle, probably not. I forget what that is, this video is old and I don't have the vehicle anymore. If it's 5w20 run that, a good oil is a good oil and it won't matter that it's hot, it gets 100-140 degrees Fahrenheit in the US in places 38c-60c
