I got my extension set from Harbor Freight I think it was like $9.00 and came with a ton of extensions in the various sizes.
Spark Plug Gap = .045
Also there is 8 bolts per side Total of 16 to remove
Directions:
1) Remove Top Engine Cover
*Pick a side
2) Remove the 8 10mm bolts
3) Remove the 8 Spark Plugs
4) Gap new plugs to .045 (mine seemed to be at that already)
5) Install spark plugs
*Use anti seize if you wish
6) Use dielectric grease
7) Reinsert wires into correct holes
8) Tighten down the 8, 10mm bolts.
*Repeat for other side

Really helped. Thanks much!
You're welcome!
hello Im mexican To please send me the photo of the position that has the band in the engine. gracias.
You did amazing. I just have a question. I’m trying to replace my wires but those clips I wanna keep on so there together. Do they come off?
I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 hemi and it's just crazy it takes 16 spark plugs. Great video!!!! This helped alot
Great to hear!
Great job! Thank you. Do you have any AC work videos, like how to replace the high and low side hoses? Thanks again.
No, I never needed to do that
I appreciate ya man!👏
Thank you, appreciate it
What do you set the gap on, how many thousands of an inch do you gap by your spark plugs??

I'm considering a 2005 5.7l WK. How have you liked this vehicle so far? I wanted an 97-01 XJ but at my age I can get one of these for about the same price, better condition and more luxurious. Got my 98 5.7 GMC Z71 Sierra for off road fun and work.
Well I have not had this vehicle for about 3 years I think now. Just a maintenance hog. My last straw was rebuilding the transfer case for $900, I took it in and traded it in, it also needed a head gasket as it leaked coolant I believe from day one very slowly. New Radiator, Hoses, Water Pump, Power Steering, All Hubs, Solenoid in Front and Rear Axles, Front Diff bushings, Drive Shaft, Propeller shaft, starter, Battery, shocks/springs. I went and bought a new F150. If I bought a Jeep again I'm going NEW and a Wrangler. My only reason to buy the Grand Cherokee was price, and for off-road use.
Oh the other huge thing is the N23 issue. Watch my video on replacing that with an unflashed ECM and how you pull the fuse to get 4wd to work. Jeep did an update that took all our 4wd systems out. I was lucky, I went and bought an unflashed unit when I first had it happen so I put in that unit and just never took it to the dealer to get updated since and my 4wd worked, people to this day still have issues. Go on the Jeep forums.
I would not touch one of these, it will go anywhere...but unless you like working on your vehicles and the one you are looking at never was updated with what we call it the N23 virus (they claim fixes later on but from what I read it was hit and miss, my fix was that unbflashed ECM).
You had me at Propeller shaft!
My last 92 xj rarely needed attention and gave it to my brother 6 years ago who does no PM. Still going somehow.
Bullet proof is what a Jeep is suppose to be. My GMC is close to that. I'll steer clear of these and keep looking for a clean city-fied XJ that's never used it's xfer case before. Thanks!
Do you have a video for changing the wires also??
Sorry nope
anti seize is a life saver but someone told me you have to be carefull because it can change the heat range of the plug?? don't quote me on that though
I'm not knocking anti seize, but out of all the vehicles I have owned I never once used the stuff and I never had a problem changing plugs. But then again I don't by the 100K life of plugs so I change them even in those applications after 30,000 to 40,000 miles. Spark plus are not the expensive even for good ones to be that cheap about it.
Daniel Roth Never in a million years will anti-seize change the heat range of a spark plug.........whom ever told you that is a dipstick....
Are you going to go with the iridium 100,000 mile spark plugs, even though the recommended plugs are the Champion copper plugs?☺️
No, I went with the copper plugs, they seemed to work and changing the plugs were not that big of a deal. Now it's the new owners issue wherever this Jeep ended up after I traded it in back in 2017
after watching this video, i did more research on dielectric grease, it turns out u do not apply the grease to the tip of the plug, only the porcelean part of plug and only the rubber of the plug wire. this is a fact, the grease is not a conductor and does not give you better spark. the grease if applied properly will prevent arching of the spark and prevent spark plug wire from bonding to plug
Yeah I know that too now...LOL Funny everyone is confused about that and I never thought about it. There is electrical conducting grease that you can buy. Thank you for the comment on an old video.
@@Meekerextreme wasnt being sarcastic, liked your video and as i googled where to find the gel i found the explanation. i am doing my plugs tomorrow , and your video was very helpful
Do you remember the gap size on the spark plugs?
www.wkjeeps.com/wk_sparkplugs.htm
Meeker Extreme thanks for the link.
why cheap out on the plugs tho? i got iridium plugs.
It calls for copper, why not use what they call for. I remember some people had issues running Iridium at the time I made this video.
So you changed out all 16? Cuz I only changed out the 8.
Yeah the two times I did it I changed all 16, it's not hard, just long.
...you didn't record the actual removal of the spark plugs!? I don't even know where they are...this video was not helpful what so ever.
Thank you for watching, and I'm glad this video was able to help out a tard
if you don't know where they are maybe you shouldn't be trying..... Just saying
If you can't figure out where the spark plug is after him showing the removal of the wires, you probably shouldn't be attempting it lol
Parker Bennett dont ene open the hood and leave that car alone if you dont know basics
@@wespowell5626 Lol so how is someone supposed to learn how to change spark plugs then?
u only took off 8 I have 16 sparkplug
If you listen to me I do say this side when I show the dirty plugs. I mean what would you want me to show each and every spark plug being taken out? Man that would be a boring video.
Meeker Extreme is it 8 on the passenger side and 8 on a driver side???
Old video too, the idea of the video was more showing the spark plug socket/tool I used because it really makes the job easier.
Yes, 8 on both sides. Makes for a long spark plug change.
Meeker Extreme thank you very much very informative thumbs up for me here
You talk more than you work
