The most important thing my guitar teacher ever told my class was that practice doesn’t make perfect. Practice makes permanent, and if you practice something unconsciously and without intention then you are gonna get good at being bad. It is crazy how this applies to everything humans can learn
The most important thing is to remain analytic and conscious: Am I doing good or bad? Why is that? How can I improve what im doing wrong? How to keep doing right the things I done right this time? For FPS, its also good to be aware of the situation and behavior.
Some stuff I learned after playing with aim training for a year: Aim trainers really help you train your focus, and focus is incredibly important in fine tuning your aim. I'm not a pro but I found my scores improved significantly when I started to pay attention to how I focused. My conclusion: You should keep a generalized sense of what's going on, where the other targets are and which one you are going to choose next going most of the time, but the instant before you actually shoot a target, you should hyper focus on that target. Good shooting for me is when my brain is making these micro changes in focus, in-and-out, over and over again with good consistency and precision. You see the target, the head in perfect focus for an instant then click, then instantly refocus your attention to see a larger picture. Being able to oscillate focus levels quickly is a key thing to fps games that I don't see talked about. Additionally if I'm doing single target tracking scenarios in kovaaks, the key to a good run is to maintain that level of detailed focus. I have to remind myself to look at the target. One thing that has boosted my scores significantly in tracking is to pretend that I'm not aiming a gun, but a camera instead. Muscle memory is good enough to know where the center of the screen is and hold the crosshair on target. Instead of focusing on the little dot of my crosshairs, I shift my perspective to see that I'm holding the entire screen like a camera, and trying to keep the target in the middle. I think this taps into the part of your brain that lets your eyes automatically follow moving targets- they have no trouble tracking things. The key to good tracking is syncing up your mouse hand to that part of your brain. You aren't tracing something on paper with a pencil, you're tracing something with your eyes and your hand is following that. Look at the target. Hopefully that makes sense. It was a revelation for me and when I started doing it I smashed through all of my high scores. Try it out.
"Don't under value the potential of a good night of sleep." These are words for wisdom for pretty much anything you do. Weight training, studying for a test, getting ready for a big interview, whatever it is. Getting a good night sleep is essential to maximize your outcome.
Mmmm yes very much so learnt this hard once I started developing a sleep condition and the only reason I got it checked was I noticed feeling tired and a massive decrease in performance while playing and aiming. It's massive.
The 'weight training for sports performance' analogy is phenomenal here. Another important point: ACTUAL physical health/fitness will impact your video gameplay capacity. Better sleep, better nutrition, and better/consistent training and fitness will literally make your fast-reaction-timing and central nervous system response improve as well. Or, more importantly, big lacks or gaps in these areas will definitively negatively impact your hand-eye coordination and nervous response.

I like 1 wall 1 target since it forces you to look and react to a new target very quickly. I also use an old guitar players trick: I play it with a slowly increasing metronome playing on the background, starts at about 100bpm and tops out at 140 over 10 minutes. Your mind just naturally gets faster without realizing.
I think one big thing you missed from why to aim train and not just play the game is the value of FOCUSED practice. When you play the game, you are being distrcted by all the other skills needed to be succesful. I have just begun my switch to PC and it's gonna take a few to get accustomed and actually have time to play but I definitely needed some extra knowledge on this topic as I wanna do away with the controller finally and have something new to learn! 3. I'm also curious if there's anything movement or keyboard specific to help me familiarize with using a keyboard and not losing my key placement or some nice button mapping!
For tracking aim I use a combination of wrist and arm movement, it depends how close they are and how fast they are moving, but i always use my wrist when im ads which is most of the time.
Thanks Patty for this truely awsome and precise video it will help a lot ! I follow you since a while now, love your vids especially when you choose a scientific approach like in this one. In " How to find you sensitivity in Destiny" from 2019 your settings were : Sens 5 / ADS 0.7 / DPI 800 but now i can see you that you switched to Sens 3 / ADS 1 / DPI 1200. I get that the eDPI might be close from the old one so I'm even more curious to understand why you changed :)
I definitely need to give kovaaks a try. And need to adjust my dpi and in-game sensitivities as I’m always fumbling around and struggling what is a good sensitivity.
I gave up on the aim trainer because I couldn’t get it close to feeling like D2. I’m going to copy everything in this vid and try again. Since this video has been out for a while I was wondering if you’ve made any changes since then? Even if it’s something minor, I would love to know lol
My problem is the WASD movement. I cannot for the love of god get used to it. Controller stick is just superior to WASD and my brain keeps thinking I'm in controller. It's really difficult.
I decided to start a channel since I was getting some pretty good plays in momentum that I wanted to share. Downloaded OBS and started recording and I am dog water.
Patty cakes what do you reccomend i do? i play at 15 hip fire and 10 ads 800 dpi and the only places i miss are like a spec near the head with a hand cannon and it happens quite frequently.
Don't forget to change any settings for aim assist to be "as forgiving as humanly possible" and you should be good. I'm still greatly confused at how much bullet magnetism is in Destiny 2 compared to 1. It's as if they never changed it during the massive sandbox change from season 3 to 4, where it made sense because of a slower TTK and that power ammo weapons were less frequently in play. Because of how fast the average ttk is, I almost think bullet magnetism should be all but nonexistent, but maybe that's just me. Maybe I'm the only that likes to actually have my reticle on someone's head and get the kill, compared to just, sort of, kind of being on target and still getting a head shot. Lately, my group had a new discord channel dedicated to the dumbest sniper flinches that still counted as headshots. Current winner is a triple where at no point, was the red dot ever on a person's head for more than a frame. Not sure if it's just me, but the more I look at the myriad of clips, the more I am convinced that being flinched increases magnetism.
Hey bro I have a doubt since we are hipfiring in kovaak and normally we aim down sight in fps games so does it matter because hipfire and aim down sensitivities are way different.
Im a little confused. I am training my aim to use snipelion more effectively, but if I'm only training with my hipfire sensitivity, then I wont be able to train my zoomed in sensitivity, which is of course what I'll be using with my sniper. So should i switch my sensitivity in kovaaks to my zoomed in sens?
THANKS YOU !!! I love your video’s and dedication 🙏❤️. By the way what is the name of the shader you have on your Dire promise and beloved????? Thanks you
One of the craziest things. Is that it only takes 20-30 mins a day. Compared to game time. That's nothing. Just a lil bit of dedication and anyone can do it
Man I love patty’s videos and advice but I’ve been trying to implement his builds (both sniper and shotgun builds) and I have never been closer to quitting destiny hahaha. I just get steamrolled left and right in survival freelance. Ah well.
Can anyone tell me how well controllers work with Kovaak's? I have been trying to use AimLabs, but I keep coming up with issues. It never feels right, even with game-specific settings for controllers.
Kovaaks is a game that you download, but there are some online aim trainers on websites that you can use, but I don't think they're as good as Kovaaks.
I started with sparkys on Saturday. I'm fucking TRASH at tracking right now. My forearm/wrist were very sore after 2 sessions, one in the morning and evening. I need to do some stretches and mobility crap for my right forearm/wrist or it's going to make me stop training since it gets very uncomfortable.

For tracking aim I use a combination of wrist and arm movement, it depends how close they are and how fast they are moving, but i always use my wrist when im ads which is most of the time.
My lighthouse when i’m in trouble thank you. 1 week that i think how can i improve my aim and you like a god do this video :)
Thanks Patty for this truely awsome and precise video it will help a lot !
I follow you since a while now, love your vids especially when you choose a scientific approach like in this one.
In " How to find you sensitivity in Destiny" from 2019 your settings were :
Sens 5 / ADS 0.7 / DPI 800 but now i can see you that you switched to Sens 3 / ADS 1 / DPI 1200.
I get that the eDPI might be close from the old one so I'm even more curious to understand why you changed :)
Thanks! I tend to try different things over time. I moved to a 10 ads sens because it made it easier to have the same sens between games
I definitely need to give kovaaks a try. And need to adjust my dpi and in-game sensitivities as I’m always fumbling around and struggling what is a good sensitivity.
Any aim trainers for console players?
I gave up on the aim trainer because I couldn’t get it close to feeling like D2. I’m going to copy everything in this vid and try again. Since this video has been out for a while I was wondering if you’ve made any changes since then? Even if it’s something minor, I would love to know lol
My problem is the WASD movement. I cannot for the love of god get used to it. Controller stick is just superior to WASD and my brain keeps thinking I'm in controller. It's really difficult.
Now that perfect aim got yamcha'd , kids are gonna learning from these vids.
Should I train 1 aiming mode a day or multiple modes within the 30min span?
I decided to start a channel since I was getting some pretty good plays in momentum that I wanted to share. Downloaded OBS and started recording and I am dog water.
Hey Patt I am having trouble finding a good keybind for crouch/sliding. Do you have any recommendations or is there a video you recommend
Thanks man it's helps a lot
Use Aim Lab as well, they have some really good speed drills on there if your hand speed is the problem(like me). Also free on Steam.
So should i switch my sensitivity in kovaaks to my zoomed in sens?
idk if youll see this but is the fov still buggy? This videos pretty old so idk if I should still set it to 101 instead of 105.
I dont know how i got recommended this.
But now I kinda want to knuckle down and do this in general.
It's so worth it if you stick with it :)
THANKS YOU !!! I love your video’s and dedication 🙏❤️. By the way what is the name of the shader you have on your Dire promise and beloved????? Thanks you
Iridescent Coral
My aim on controller is kinda bad, and apart from PVE, is there any like software or things like aim trainers that I can use? Pls I'm desperate...
Anything like this for controller? My tracking with AR's could definitely use work.
Kovaaks is goated :)
Thank you!
Ah well.
Dude I've got so used to MnK that I can't even do ok with a controller, since my aim is now 100% flick, 0% stick
Is their something for console especially ps4
Can anyone tell me how well controllers work with Kovaak's? I have been trying to use AimLabs, but I keep coming up with issues. It never feels right, even with game-specific settings for controllers.
Hey Pattycakes. Is there anything like this I can use for Xbox console?
Tia
Hi, I doubt I'll have a response but I was wondering how you manage to practice sniper and hand cannon because they have different ads sensitivity
Just practice your hipfire aim and it will help everywhere
Wow, I never knew aim training websites existed. Thank you.
Kovaaks is a game that you download, but there are some online aim trainers on websites that you can use, but I don't think they're as good as Kovaaks.
How did you get the first map from video? when i download it from the online playlist i get scuffed version, pls help.
I use more wrist and on the slow end of sensitivity but I am a smg user
Great vid your op in pvp
Thanks 😅
Great Content, but is it still really worth playing Destiny 2?
That’s funny I just bought this because I just switched to pc but definitely some good info here
I heard Ring-1 was a better aim trainer than Kovaak. Not sure if it's true though.
lol probably easier 😭
how do u figer out the sens with 850 with 7 sens ?
tysm :D
I’m a console but I’m my pc parts r almost here so I’m almost on pc so this will be helpful
I just watch it cuz it’s pattycakes
@@Ace-gl1sx same but like it still helpful
Can he do a console vid after also?
@@virendragarg4083 but aim assist exists. Work more on game sense and crosshair placement if you're on controller.
I started with sparkys on Saturday. I'm fucking TRASH at tracking right now. My forearm/wrist were very sore after 2 sessions, one in the morning and evening. I need to do some stretches and mobility crap for my right forearm/wrist or it's going to make me stop training since it gets very uncomfortable.
im confused, how do i match kovaak's to my d2 ads sens?
