Anita Baker is completely original and unique. Her voice and style are unmistakable.. I've had her "Rapture" album since my junior year in college and it still gets me going. Keep in mind she writes these songs..It's all Anita.
You SHOULD react to more Anita Baker, she has amazing songs and one of the best vocalist from the 80s era. Her duet with Sinatra (Witchcraft) is soo good. Also, what are you waiting for Luther Vandross reactions? You are really missing bigtime. The obvious suggestion will have to be A House Is Not A Home (live from Wimbledon) That performance is a standard and the highest bar for male singers ever set.
She wrote this song too, this is an entire hour long concert on YT called Caught up in the Rapture, filmed in Washington DC in 1986. She is a perfectionist about the music and band too, beyond her vocals a writer and producer. She still sounds amazing decades later, sells out concerts now. Is a good video of her in UK on Jools show in about 2004 or 2005 singing some of her later hits
This was wonderful. I’ve heard this song thousands of time. She was staple in my household as a kid but I’ve never heard a live performance of hers. It was fantastic and it felt like her voice was sinking into my soul. I smiled the entire time. Thanks for reacting.
🔥 Before Anita went solo, she was in a group called "Chapter 8" and had a song called "I Just Wanna Be Your Girl". Her debut album "The Songstress" had hits like "No More Tears" and "You're the Best Thing Yet"! Great reaction! Tfs!
I don’t know if you are a historian, but you are one of the few people I recall mentioning that she started with Chapter 8 circa 1979. I remember the hit, I Just Wanna Be Your Girl. One of my favorites.
Saw her open for Luther Vandross and it was a AMAZING show, she just started to get famous with “Caught up in the Rapture” and apparently she got a big ego on the tour She thought she should close and Luther open for her.
Anita Baker is a legendary soul r&b artist. She has so many hits and classics. She is known for her legato singing style were the words just flow into each other. She has lovely deep tones and soaring belts. She has influenced the likes of Mary J Blige and Toni Braxton amongst others. Please react to Anita - Good Love.
She sang this right after "Watch Your Step" which is a mid to fast tempo song. I highly recommend that one as well. And "No One In The World" from this same concert, which is very different from the studio version. She is simply amazing.
Anita is an experience live alright. Please listen to here live vocal of Giving You The Best That I Got from some American talkshow or her version of Bridge Over Troubled Water live in the UK. She might be regarded as difficult to work with but boy can that woman sing like no other. Absolute joy indeed. Thanks!
You should really check out her masterful masterful masterful album cut of Body & Soul. It's so superb and leaves you dumbfounded at her vocal delivery.
I think I remember telling you on the last review you did that she's right up there with Gladys Knight and Aretha Franklin. On a scale of 1 to 10 of what she's capable for this was about a five.. Her tone is velvety smooth and I just love her She doesn't get her due diligence.
Love your reactions! Love your channel! I would love it if you could react to Mariah Carey and her song , We Belong Together. Either the live performance or the official music video. It’s a good song. Also , have you reacted to any songs by Sir Tom Jones? I’ll Never Fall In Love Again and Delilah are both amazing. The live performances, of course. And lastly, I highly recommend reacting to The Righteous Brothers. Their songs, You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling, and Unchained Melody. Do the live performances. If you can only do one request here, I would want you to do Unchained Melody, live, by The Righteous Brothers ( Bobby Hatfield). Incredible vocal performance. Thank you!
Johnny.. how are you with the English funk, pop, rock band Jamiroquai? Do you know their material? If not, I'd love to see what you think of them. Maybe you could start with their first single from 1992, "When You Gonna Learn?"
She is so ...AMAZING...the "One and Only ANITA BAKER!!!!"😎 THANKS for sharing.☺
Anita Baker is completely original and unique. Her voice and style are unmistakable.. I've had her "Rapture" album since my junior year in college and it still gets me going. Keep in mind she writes these songs..It's all Anita.

Yes Anita a legend who puts on a dynamic show! She is on tour.💜
Not in the UK unfortunately, but I didn't actually know if she was still around - I'll look out for her!

The 80’s and 90’s were the best talent compared to today’s artists. R&B alive and well. ❤🎉
