So I think she should have done something more like emancipation. I don’t think this is her best. I actually think Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel would have been a great follow up to emancipation. It’s got some fun ones on it though.

i love this album. i've suspected all along she's really some kind of alto. she's singing really really low here for a woman, for a long duration. good signs! i am a contralto, i love hearing the 'bass' in women's voices.

It will grow on you. The density of all Mariah albums cannot be overstated. The work involved in the melodies, the lyrics, the layered vocals, the state of art production.... this is top notch R&B. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 ❤🎉😊

I see so much in this music video. The themes of gender and sexuality playing off of the authoritarian/ militarist motifs are definitely what stand out most to me. It makes me think about the exploitation of servicemen, especially lgbt servicemen, considering the video came out while Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, was still an official policy of the US military. I could go on and on about this music video, honestly. The color choices, the fashion, the references, everything is so good. 🫨

Brandy did say that the was a product of a relationship with someone emotionally unavailable. And it did drive her crazy. She's also talked about PTSD and depression.

The Vocal Bible! She is almost unmatched in terms of vocal stacking in the studio. Janet is pretty good as well. But Brandy even causes problems with the recording process. The software seems to eliminate any vocals she records that are too close to another track.

Back when she was a 10/10 now her pop music has just gone downhill rapidly

Ace of Base vibes for sure. I think the band saluted her which is nice rather than coming after her for copy-writes.

That was a terrible video and song. Only Madonna could pull off something like this. Gaga is no Madonna. I expected better from Gaga with her amazing voice. This is not her style genre. Just a horrible mess. Why would she release this; I'm shook.

There are many tracks that have enough potential to be singles. Overall sales should be better than this.

Pink is always the ultimate performer. Her songs are at times humorous. Her songs are always deep if you carefully listen to the lyrics.

I really wish we still had music videos like this to look forward to! Not everything has to be CGI! This is not my favourite Gaga single but I do enjoy it from time to time. You should definitely do Bad Romance or the Judas video!!

Totally underrated! People did not get what Mariah was going for on this album, but great concept and as usual amazing lyrics, especially in songs like Side Effects (not a single sadly), telling her own story about the marriage with TM, and also Bye Bye. I'm that chick has the greatest vibes! As you said,overall this is a very playful album.

Man This Album, grew on Me ☺️☺️🥰. This was probably the last physical CD I purchased in a record store (Virgin Records MegaStore in Times Square NYC) I'd spend endless hours in there just listening to everything. I can clearly remember walking down 10th Ave in Manhattan at night listening to this on my Discman(extra batteries were always in my backpack 😉)

This video is idiotic, which is why it's not remembered by anyone besides Lil MOnsters hanging on 2010. The song rips off Madonna / Ace of Base, and the Video is an amalgamation of Express Yourself and Vogue.

I love her videos, wish she released them more often.

I like this album but it’s a bit inconsistent. It has some of her best songs but there’s a lot of disposable samey songs.

Directed by Steven Klein, a photographer who collaborated pretty significantly with Madonna in the early 2000s. He also shot loads of designer ad campaigns and did provocative editorial work. His signatures are all over this...from the militant prettyboys to that bare mattress/bed frame setup.

I admit that this isn’t my favourite Mariah album. Butterfly, Daydream & Caution take that place however I love Bye Bye, I wish you well and I stay in love and they’re my favourites on it. Great reaction once again ❤

Kelly Clarkson is kind of a total miracle in so many ways. the way she became famous-crazy really. by being the first winner on American Idol she could have gone so many directions as a singer. she could have gone back home, and found that show business wasn't for her. but no-she is a miracle of talents. she is a great great singer. truly. she sings as well as anyone can sing. and I honestly think the reason she isn't spoken of in the same terms as those singers you mentioned is because she came from American Idol. so that label is always attached to her. also her early hits were so pop and commercial. (and AMAZING!) but pop that people associated with like a Britney Spears type pop as opposed to having the r and b and funk influences she actually has and had. because of her show, and the whole kellyoke phenomenon-and also because she is asked more and more to do a number in the aretha franklin tribute that BET sponsors. or she sings "fancy" for Reba McIntyre at the Kennedy Center, or "I will always love you" for dolly and Whitney at an awards show-everybody is now bearing witness to just how incredible a singer she is. I have seen many reaction channels when looking at her stuff, they always bring up that she is a much bigger and deeper artist than they originally had thought. it is so exciting to watch her singing right now in her life at the height of her powers, when she has this platform of her show, and this regular house band, and her back up singers etc. so that she can literally just play and grow and exercise her talents for all the world to see and hear and love. very funnny and odd-the first kellyoke's that really took my breath away from several years ago were her Fleetwood Mac covers. Nobody covers Fleetwood Mac songs. it is just too special, too hard, too specific, etc. how do you do anything that can compete with the voice of Stevie Nicks, Lindsay Buckingham or Christine McVIe? those are all 3 iconic specific singers, singer their own material. it is so special. Kelly Clarkson made them her own. and made them new and thrilling. I already had loved her voice and her personality and sense of fun and real. but through the kellyoke stuff one sees just how smart a singer she is, and how as a singer, she has really good taste. this is an idea that is very underrated in artists, and alas, nothing can break them faster or with more damage. good taste. Kelly has excellent taste as a singer about her own singing. she has excellent taste in music, for herself and for the world. and she just has good taste in general. she is hungry to know more and to do more with music and art it seems. Linda Ronstadt is the only other singer I can think of with the quality in the way Kelly does. Kelly is such a solid singer, songwriter and musician now, that she can now explore all these different things that interest her as an artist. her show has really allowed her to do this. she is a thrilling talent and woman. we are blessed to have her in our world! thanks for posting!
